• CouchDB in Production

  I have been using CouchDB on some prototype applications and it has been brilliant, very easy to use and extremely quick. I was wondering if anyone has been using it in production and have any views on it's reliability, performance suitability for operational management etc ?? I am considering using it to support a service layer and would make use of its replication functionality. Any comments/experiences would be most welcome.

  int, char and bool usually have different sizes. Where intcharbool, I suppose. But does the RAM even support this? How is it built up? Can it take advantage of bool being only 1 byte and store it in a small "register"?

• Magento CSS not Loading in New Template

  I have posted on the template creator's site, as well as Magento support, but no one has responded. The CSS is not loading at all on the custom theme I have installed, which is supposedly compatible with the current version of Magento. You can view the page here: shop.dearearth.net This is a fresh installation of Magento and the theme, with a fresh database. I have a feeling it should be a relatively quick fix. Thanks for looking.

  I have a website for public users, but also have an admin part of about 10 pages, that I need to secure for website admin only. If I implement Forms-Based Authentication on the 10 pages, will it also spread across the public part of the website too? i.e. changes in web.config. • javascript: use getElementsByName for 'this'?

  I need to get some children elements and loop over them using inline javascript for a onmouseover event. When I try to use this.getElementsByName I'm getting an error that the object does not support this property. I was under the impression that getElementsByName work for element objects which I thought 'this' would be considered. Anyone have any other ideas on how I can achieve this?

  Hi, I have created a user control ( custom data grid view control). I have used the code specified at MSDN [site][1] [1]: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316574 to set the border style . I am able to see the selected border style in designer. Like None, FixedSingle or Fixed3D. But when I set the border style to FixedSingle, the border does not appear at runtime. Do I need to draw it manually in the OnPaint method?

  In CVS, we could programatically create a new branch of existing source using the "rtag" command, which did not require a copy of the repository. Does git support functionality of this kind, making a branch of existing files in a remote git repository without having a local copy of it? Or does the distributed nature of git preclude this? (I'm trying to save the 20+ minutes it would take to make a freestanding copy of the repository, just to run a 'git branch' command.)

  I am writed an automated test in Selenium IDE to test one of our applications. Our app throws one of those confirmation dialogs "Are you sure you want to continue." Click OK or Cancel Selenium does not support the clicking of these dialog boxes. I have tried the following SeleniumIDE functions with no success: chooseOkOnNextConfirmation chooseOkOnNextConfirmationAndWait Is there a javascript funtion I can call within SeleniumIDE to do this, or am I out of luck.

The div has a image background in CSS, it works fine on Firefox and Safari, but when i test it on IE the background is being removed.   My manager has asked me to assess what changes would be required to add multicast support to a socket-based TCP/IP networking program that is part of a trading system. As far as I can tell, from the perspective of a Java program, it doesn't seem to matter too much whether the program is unicast or multicast. Doesn't the Java networking API make all of this transparent? By this I mean, wouldn't the change be a simple one of simply adding additional destinations for the outgoing connections?

• [Android] Is disabling landscape mode unforgivable?

  Our application could support landscape mode without any problem, but it is such a pain that we are thinking about forcing portrait mode. Question: Is it BAD? The main problem is that changing orientation generates random crashes on many screens. Avoiding those crashes would potentially allow us to spend more time on the core aspects of the app. Will the same crashes happen when users switch apps anyway? Also, are there landscape-oriented devices where our app will become useless?
