• Apache: How can i see my localhost on 192.168.1.101 from 192.168.1.102?

  Hi, I'm running Apache on Ubuntu. My IP address is 192.168.1.101 While http://localhost and http://192.168.1.101 work fine in my PC, I cannot access it from within my laptop using http://192.168.1.102 It's strange. I can ping 192.168.1.101 but I got "The connection has timed out." in browser. • Fixing warning from git

  I've been doing a workflow of making a git repository on a remote central repository, cloning that repo on my local dev machine, doing some work, and then pushing the changes back to the same repo on the remote server. However, and I believe this was after an update I did to git recently, after pushing up a change, I'm getting the following warning: Counting objects: 2724, done. Can someone explain to me exactly what this warning means, and what I'm doing wrong in my workflow to not receive this warning?

• svn cat for git

  I am looking for the equivalent of svn cat in git. Yes, I am aware that the similar question was asked here. The answer is to use git show rev:path. However, svn cat can be used for the remote repository. That is, I can do svn cat url@rev and get the file from the specified revision of the remote repository, without getting the whole repository. My understanding is that git show only applies to the local repository. A workaround I found is to use gitweb interface to get the blob.

• Working local and upload on save in Eclipse with Aptana

  Currently I am working in Dreamweaver for my web project. The way I work is open local files, and when I save the files are uploaded via FTP to my server. This works great because I have the same files local and on the server, and I don't have to move the files around a lot. Is this possible in eclipse with Aptana? I have tried working with RSE(remote system explorer), but then I only work with the remote files. I have also tried the normal Aptana FTP features, but there is no 'save on upload' feature. Does anyone have some recommendations for me?

• Tomcat fails on first request in combination with jsvc

  I have a web application where the first request may take a few seconds as some singletons are initialised. I've used the mod_proxy and jsvc construction mentioned in this question and described on this page to connect apache with tomcat (data is served via SSL) For the sample Tomcat application, everything works as it should. Here's the low-down: I'm new to git. I just set up an account with github and I followed all their instructions flawlessly until I got to the last command of git push origin master Upon entering this command, I get the error message "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." If I type in git origin show the output I see is origin. If I type in git remote -n show the output is * remote origin URL: [email protected]: HEAD branch: (not queried) Local ref configured for 'git push' (status not queried): (matching) pushes to (matching) Please help me get to the bottom of this.

• Downloading a file in ASP.NET (through the server) while streaming it to the user

  My ASP.NET website currently downloads a file from a remote server to a local drive, although when users access the site they have to wait for the server to finish downloading the file until they can then download the file from my ASP.NET website. Is it possible to almost stream the download from the remote website - through my ASP.NET website directly to the user (a bit like a proxy) ? • Run WF 4.0 as a server-side component

  Hi all, For a new project, we need to use WF 4.0 for deploying and running workflows. Instead of hosting workflows within the application itself, we decided to implement a server-side component that is in charge of running workflows. Before WF 4.0, one had explicit access to the the runtime engine (WorkflowRuntime), which provided some basic management functionalities, such as retrieving the workflows currently running etc ... As far as I could find out, WF 4.0 lacks this explicit access, as workflows are created via the WorkflowInstance class and no reference is immediately available to the WorkflowRuntime ... If I need these management functionalities on the server side, I'm a correct that I will need to implement these myself? Or did I miss out on something ... Thanks in advance for your answers!

• help finding a hosing company with unixODBC and FreeTDS support

  I need to find a hosting company that provides a LAMP stack, the P being PHP. Finding that is pretty easy, but I have a further requirement of unixODBC and FreeTDS or some equilant. The project will require a remote connection to a Microsoft SQL 2005 database. Most of the project will use a local MySQL database but it also requires data from a remote MS SQL 2005 database. In my reading it looks like I'll need unixODBC and FreeTDS installed on the server to make that connection. So far I've been unable to find a shared host that provides these. Can anyone suggest or use a host that might work? The project has budget limits so we we're hoping to find a shared host.

• What tools are people using to measure SQL Server database performance?

  I've experimented with a number of techniques for monitoring the health of our SQL Servers, ranging from using the Management Data Warehouse functionality built into SQL Server 2008, through other commercial products such as Confio Ignite 8 and also of course rolling my own solution using perfmon, performance counters and collecting of various information from the dynamic management views and functions. What I am finding is that whilst each of these approaches has its own associated strengths, they all have associated weaknesses too. I feel that to actually get people within the organisation to take the monitoring of SQL Server performance seriously whatever solution we roll out has to be very simple and quick to use, must provide some form of a dashboard, and the act of monitoring must have minimal impact on the production databases (and perhaps even more importantly, it must be possible to prove that this is the case). So I'm interested to hear what others are using for this task? Any recommendations?

  In SQL Server 2005, I'm trying to figure out why I'm not able to insert multiple fields into a table. The following query, which inserts one record, works fine: INSERT INTO [MyDB].[dbo].[MyTable] ([FieldID] ,[Description]) VALUES (1000,N'test') However, the following query, which specifies more than one value, fails: INSERT INTO [MyDB].[dbo].[MyTable] ([FieldID] ,[Description]) VALUES (1000,N'test'),(1001,N'test2') I get this message: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 5 Incorrect syntax near ','. When I looked up the help for INSERT in SQL Sever Management Studio, one of their examples showed using the "Values" syntax that I used (with groups of values in parentheses and separated by commas). The help documentation I found in SQL Server Management Studio looks like it's for SQL Server 2008, so perhaps that's the reason that the insert doesn't work. Either way, I can't figure out why it won't work.

• WNetAddConnection2 from a Windows Service

  I'm trying to connect to a remote password protected shared folder from a Windows service, which runs as LocalSystem account. It seems that the LocalSystem account is unable to directly access password-protected network shares using WNetAddConnection2() or similar calls. Can anyone confirm this? I've read that impersonating an administrator user might be the way to go. I've tried using LogonUser() and ImpersonateLoggedOnUser() before WNetAddConnection2(), it appears that the mount of the network path succeeds, but then actual accesses (e.g. enumerating of files in remote folder) fail. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Using TCP Acks to measure latency to a server?

  I am trying to measure latency to a server that I don't control. This is in a colocated environment, so the latency is on the order of 500 us (.5 ms). I understand that Cisco gear frequently deprioritizes ICMP traffic, making ping times unreliable. Is there a way for me to tell if this is the case on the gear I am traversing? Can I use TCP acknowledgements to determine the minimum latency to the remote server? To do this, I would somehow need to force the remote server to send a TCP ack immediately on receiving my data.

  I just put my asp .net web service on a remote host. The service accesses an oracle db on my local machine. The service worked fine when it was running on localhost but since moving to a remote hos, I get The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize() at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at.... I know the error is related to the data provider version running on the server/client. In my case, the only dll I referenced in the project was Oracle.DataAccess So how do I go about solving this? Note that I won't be able to change anything on the web host other than my own project. My local machine is running Oracle 11g Thanks.

• Silverlight 5 App Crashing

  I have a silverlight 5 app that makes some WCF requests. When the silverlight app is hosted locally on an IIS 7.5 server it works fine, but when I run it from a remote IIS6 box there are issues. The app loads fine and presents the login UI. After trying to log in, a couple WCF service calls are made (successfully), but the response causes silverlight to stop responding and the browser eventually asks to kill the non-responsive silverlight app. I am mostly confused because it works fine in IIS 7.5 Note that I am accessing the same WCF services hosted on a remote box in both instances, and both times I am getting successful responses. It is only in IIS6 that the app becomes non-responsive.

I have tried it without the base64_encode but with the same result.

• Using emacs across many hosts

  On a daily basis I: use multiple workstations running either Linux, Windows, or MacOS X edit files on additional Linux hosts that are not any of the workstations mentioned above The only common element here is that the internet connects all of these hosts: workstations and servers. I can keep all of the config files in sync on my workstations too and can run an X server on all of them. What's the right way of running emacs? I don't want to sacrifice any features. In my ideal world I can type 'emacs foo.txt' on a remote host and some magic happens via X forwarding to display the file in my workstation's existing emacs session. Non-solutions tramp: when I'm manipulating a remote host an editor is just part of my workflow. I need a terminal open so I can run other commands quickly. tramp is all wrong for this. ncurses emacs: sucks, I want the graphical kind If you don't have a positive answer to my question, please don't just guess. • Cross-database transactions from one SP

  I need to update multiple databases with a few simple SQL statement. The databases are configurared in SQL using 'Linked Servers', and the SQL versions are mixed (SQL 2008, SQL 2005, and SQL 2000). I intend to write a stored procedure in one of the databases, but I would like to do so using a transaction to make sure that each database gets updated consistently. Which of the following is the most accurate: Will a single BEGIN/COMMIT TRANSACTION work to guarantee that all statements across all databases are successful? Will I need multiple BEGIN TRANSACTIONS for each individual set of commands on a database? Are transactions even supported when updating remote databases? I would need to execute a remote SP with embedded transaction support. Note that I don't care about any kind of cross-database referential integrity; I'm just trying to update multiple databases at the same time from a single stored procedure if possible. Any other suggestions are welcome as well. Thanks!

• rake task can't access rails.cache

  Hi I want to call a rake task from a cron job that stores remote weather data in the rails cache. However, I must be doing something pretty wrong here because I cannot find any solution through countless fruitless searches. Say I define and call this task namespace :weather do desc "Store weather from remote source to cache" task :cache do Rails.cache.write('weather_data', Date.today) end end I get the error Anonymous modules have no name to be referenced by Which leads me to believe the rails cache isn't available. Outputting Rails.class from the rake file gives me Module but Rails.cache.class again returns the above error. Do I need to include something here?   I want to start automating more of my web development process so I'm looking for a build system. I write mostly PHP apps on Mac OS X and deploy Linux servers over FTP. A lot of my clients have basic hosting providers so shell access to their servers is typically not available, however remote MySQL access is usually present. Here is what I want to do with a build system: When Building: Lint JavaScript Files Validate CSS Files Validate HTML Files Minify and concatenate JS and CSS files Verify PHP Syntax Set Debug/Production flags When Deploying Checkout latest version from SVN Run build process Upload files to server via FTP Run SQL scripts on remote DB I realize this is a lot of work to automate but I think it would be worth it. So what is the best way to start down this path? Is there a system that can handle builds and deploys, or should I search for separate solutions? What systems would you recommend?

  I have a default amazon ec2 instance with 8GB root volume size. I am running out of space. I have: Detach the current EBS volume in AWS Management Console (Web). Create snapshot of this volume. Created a new Volume with 50G space with my snapshot. Attach the new volume back to the instance to /dev/sda1 However, when I reconnect to the account with: > df -h I can see from the management console that my new Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda1 8256952 8173624 0 100% / tmpfs 308508 40 308468 1% /dev/shm It's still not using my new volume's size, how to make this work?

  I have a database on line with Godaddy (who uses SQL Server 2005). They provide basic management tools, but tell you that for more advanced tools you can connect directly using SSMS. I followed their instructions to ensure my online database will accept remote connections, and can apparently log in using SSMS with success (after giving my hostname and access data). • How can I show SQL Server LOGS (2005)

  Hello, I'm trying to track the error thrown by SQL Server 2005. The problem is SQL Server reports it in my native language so it's hard for me to google it. I think that the core issue would be avialable in English in SQL Server LOGS. I'm running SQL Server Management Studio Express, going to "Management" node, and then SQL Server Logs. I can see the list of logs but I cannot enter them, the only available option in context menu is Refresh. Could you help me to show the contents of those logs?
