  • Two Firefox windows vs two browsers? Ram Consumption

    I don't know enough about Ram & sharing to know what the difference is here. Normally, I run Chrome in one desktop for personal use, and Firefox on a second desktop for business. I like the separation of saved passwords and whatnot. However, I recently learned that I can open two different profiles in Firefox at the same time, so I was wondering if that would be cheaper to my system resources, or not? Out the door, I don't think it would save more than 40-60mb of ram... but I'm wondering, 3 hours later, if ram handling will be better using just one browser for all my heavy lifting. I only have 2gb of ram and I run iTunes and Photoshop as well, almost all day. So I like to save ram where I can. Any thoughts? UPDATE: I've been centering around chrome more recently and using firefox for testing. Dev isn't bad on Chrome and it's great at releasing memory when I close tabs. In retrospect, I think the best answer to this question is simply for me to buy another 2gb of ram.

  • win 7 something is causing excessive disk usage, maybe chrome?

    On my Win 7 computer, this happens: I work for several hours without problems, also using Chrome Suddenly, just after refreshing a page in Chrome, disk starts being used excessively (here I can close Chrome or not, no matter, the disk won't stop) Disk diod is on all the time and I hear it running like crazy, all computer is a little slowed down It last 5-10 minutes In the meantime, I go to Windows Task Manager and observe what processes are using disk and turn them off one by one - but no success in stopping the excessive disk usage After approximately 10 minutes everything stops I go to Chrome (or re-open it) and refresh the page with mixed results - sometimes the whole process repeats immediately, sometimes not Basically, it is almost always Chrome refreshing random page that starts the excessive disk usage, but killing Chrome process does not stop the disk. Going to the same page in Firefox is not causing problems. Windows Search is turned off. I would like to know what is really happening. Perhaps there is a utility which would allow me to see which process is really using the disk, so that I can disable the service ? (not chrome, because killing chrome does not change anything) or even better, perhaps there is a way to fix it?

    Is it possible to do a mod_rewrite from one url to another without changing what appears in the address bar? Example: Source URL is http://domain1.com/news Target URL is http://domain2.com/news I want to render pages from http://domain2.com/news/ but have http://domain1.com/news appear in the address bar. Is this possible? I've got this directive, but the URL in the address bar changes (which I don't want to happen): RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain2.com/news/ [L,NC]

  • How to build google breakpad

    Hi, I'm totally lost on how to build Google's breakpad. There is a sln file, but it depends on a library that doesn't seem to have an associated sln. It seems to use something called gyp that I haven't figured out how to get working.     Is there a way in Visual SourceSafe to move a file from one directory to another while retaining its history? Edit I actually found a round about way to do this. First I drag the file I want to move to the directory I want to move it to, this creates a "Link" to the file there and then I "permanently destroy" the file in its original location. Does this actually do what I thing it does?

  • Interfacing Android Nexus One with Arduino + BlueSmirf

    I'm a bit new to all of this, so bear with me - I'd really appreciate your help. I am trying to link the Android Nexus One with an arduino (Duemilanove) that is connected to a BlueSmirf. I have a program that is simply outputting the string "Hello Bluetooth" to whatever device the BlueSmirf is connected to. Here is the Arduino program: void setup(){ Serial.begin(115200); int i; } void loop(){Serial.print("Hello Bluetooth!"); delay(1000); } One my computer BT terminal I can see the message and connect no problem. The trouble is with my android code. I can connect to the device with android, but when I look at the log it is not displaying "Hello Bluetooth".   • zend gdata google base getting link url and parsing xml with object oriented php

    Hi, So I am using Zend frameworks Gdata extension to parse xml data from google base. http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.gdata.gbase.html Working fine minus one damn important thing I cant seem to parse, the link to the actual page, because there are two elements and its returned as an array. Anyways Ive tried vardumping the array but what comes out didnt help me figure out what was going on any better. So heres the specifics of the issue. echo $entry->title->text."<br />".$entry->id->text."<br />".$entry->content->text."<br />".$entry->author[0]->name."<br />"; (the above code works fine). Now according to the documentation I thought I could get the link href by going $entry-link-text or $entry-link-url (tried both, neither worked). Anyways, Im not sure whether this is zend specific or just a gap in my OOP understanding, but any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi, I built a sharepoint workflow for a "test" document library. I would now like to move this workflow to a "prod" document library. I copied the workflow in sharepoint designer from one document library to the next successfully. However when I bring up the wizard and try to change the document library the workflow was made for I am unable because the drop down box with this option is disabled. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

    I have a listview which has its datasource changed after update of a search textbox. When I enter search criteria that only returns one row, I am unable to trigger the OnSelectionChanged event The listbox works as expected at any other time. I have tried changing SelectedItem and SelectedIndex in Code, Clicking aimlessly on the ListView both on and off the row and are at the brink of insanity. Does anyone know of a solution so that I am able to change the selected item!! Help Please

When I do a NSLog of the array it prints out 20 objects with the parsed content that I needed.     Hi, I'm having some problems with jQueryUI Datepicker and Google Chrome. My datepicker is working as expected with IE8, Firefox and Safari. The problem is when clicking the datepicker connected textbox in Chrome. It gives me a crash page, "Oops, an error occurred...". On my page there's textbox with a datepicker. The datepicker is language dependent and it loads the correct language settings dynamically. The datepicker should also display the month and year dropdowns. The code is as follows $(function() {$.datepicker.setDefaults($.extend({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true }, $.datepicker.regional['']));$('#<%= TextBoxBirthDate.ClientID %').datepicker($.datepicker.regional[$('#LabelRegionalSettings').val()]);}); If I only extend the datepicker with one option, i.e. changeYear, it works in Chrome. But if I add another option, i.e. changeMonth, the 'crash' in Chrome occurs. Is my code incorrect? If so, how do I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

When testing my model binder, need to create a ModelBindingContext with a ValueProvider. Trouble is, I can't see how I can have one ValueProvider that serves multiple value provider types.
