  • How to append() an element and set its style with css() at the same time with jQuery

    - by Acorn
I tried: $('#canvas').append('<div class="tile"></div>').css({left: leftPos, top: topPos});, but that sets the style of #canvas rather than the appended element. I then tried: $('#canvas').append(('<div class="tile"></div>').css({left: leftPos, top: topPos}));, but that gives the error "Object <div class="tile"></div> has no method 'css'". How can I add the element and set its style at the same time?

  • Can I do full text searches with jquery Autocomplete ?

    - by Jordie
Hi, I want to be able to search a list of full names. The autocomplete demos I have seen have all searched from the beginning. Thats no good as I want matches on surname too. I can live without full text search if it at least follows word boundaries. Sorta like the tag search here. Hows that done? Cheers

  • jQuery - How to Use slideDown (or show) function on a table row?

    - by Greg
    I'm trying to add a row to a table and have that row slide into view, however the slidedown function seems to be adding a display:block style to the table row which messes up the layout. Any ideas how to work around this? Here's the code: $.get('/some_url',{'val1':id}, function(data){ var row = $('#detailed_edit_row'); row.hide(); row.html(data); row.slideDown(1000); });

  • jquery: adding class on to list-items only on mouseover-remove on mouse-out?

    - by user239831
hey guys, what's the best way to do that: i have a list <ul> <li>hello</li> <li>good bye</li> <li>arrivederci</li> <li class="selected">dude</li> <li>whatever</li> </ul> Initially one item already has a class of .selected applied. When i hover over one of the list-items i want this one to have the .selected class. So every item should only have the class applied when im over, as soon as i leave the item the class get's removed and the next one has the class.

  • Using jQuery to make a group of images appear in order.

    - by Sean Johnson
I have a page that shows a bunch of thumbnails (around 30), and the client is wanting them to appear one by one, in order, going from left to right on the page. This is what I've tried: var start_opacity = 500; $j('.grid-photo').each(function(i) { start_opacity = start_opacity + 500; setTimeout(function() { $j(i).animate({opacity: 1}, 4000); }, start_opacity); }); It doesn't seem to know what i is referencing. Any thoughts?

  • When I try to pass large amounts of information using jquery $.ajax(post) method. it throws potenti

    - by dotnetrocks
I am trying to create a preview window for my texteditor in my blog page. I need to send the content to the server to clean up the text entered before I can preview it on the preview window. I was trying to use $.ajax({ type: method, url: url, data: values, success: LoadPageCallback(targetID), error: function(msg) { $('#' + targetID).attr('innerHTML', 'An error has occurred. Please try again.'); } }); Whenever I tried to click on the preview button it returns an XMLHTTPRequest error. The error description - Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case. The ValidateRequest for the page is set to false. Is there a way I can set validaterequest to false for the ajax call. Please advise Thank you for reading my post.

  • jQuery Ajax loads URL multiple times, how do I unbind/rebind properly?

    - by gmoz22
I load a SELECT element via Ajax (list of brands), get its selected value (brand id) and load another SELECT via another Ajax URL (list of templates for currently selected brand). Here's my code: $(document).ready( function() { // DO NOT cache Ajax calls $.ajaxSetup ({ cache: false }); // loader var ajax_load = "Loading..."; // Brands List URL var loadBrandUrl = "getBrandsList.php"; // Templates List URL var loadTemplateUrl = "getTemplatesList.php"; $("#brandslistSelect").html(ajax_load).load(loadBrandUrl) .ajaxComplete(function(){ // Brands select loaded /* Load Templates SELECT the first time since no .change() has happened */ var selectedBrand = $("#brandslistSelect option:selected").attr("value"); // get the value console.log(selectedBrand); // Log selected brand to console // get Templates select, commented for now since it does an infinite loop // $("#templateslistSelect").html(ajax_load).load(loadTemplateUrl, { BrandId: selectedBrand } ); /* End initial load template */ /* On interaction with the Brands SELECT */ $("#brandslistSelect").change(function () { // on interaction with select selectedBrand = $("#brandslistSelect option:selected").attr("value"); // get the value // get Templates SELECT $("#templateslistSelect").html(ajax_load).load(loadTemplateUrl, { BrandId: selectedBrand } ) }); /* End interaction with the Brands SELECT */ }); }); It returns selectedBrand in the console 3 times : selectedBrand = undefined selectedBrand = undefined selectedBrand = 101 Now, if I uncomment the following line, same output as above but it also loads the templates URL indefinitely : // $("#templateslistSelect").html(ajax_load).load(loadTemplateUrl, { BrandId: selectedBrand } ); Any idea how I could modify this code to make it work as intended? Thanks for your help stackOverflow community!

  • is there a way to add a variable/property to a DOM element (eg, an element returned by a jQuery sele

    - by bt
Hi there, I am looking for an alternative to using an object/variable in global scope -- I would like to associate key/value pairs with specific DOM elements (eg, a DIV), so that I can use them as input for logic that processes other elements (eg, child elements of said DIV). I tried something naive like: $('[foo=bar]').key='value' , and $('[foo=bar]')[key]='value', but it puked. Doing something like: var foobar = $('[foo=bar]'); foobar.key = 'value' -- works, but the new property/value only affects the new object (ie, foobar, not $('[foo=bar]')) Most likely there's something terribly basic I am overlooking. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
