• Permission forbidden on localhost with apache2

  Here is what I am trying to do. I tried to add another folder to apache and I get the following error when trying to acces testing/index.html. The idea is that I would like to have for every customer a folder like /home/neagoe/Work/InterWebs/Projects/[PROJECT NAME]/CustomerProjects/website/dist. Forbidden You don't have permission to access /index.html on this server.   I was scanning my Mac OS X with sophos antivirus and opened the console. I see this over and over again. How do I tell whatever it is to stop trying to launch tuncfg? • ROI in choosing a CMS solution

  At the company I work for we need a CMS. The question is, what to choose, for me I think the best solution is to develop one of our own, but we ( my boss and I ), talked about using Drupal. But my boss is completely non-technical, and want's to take a lot of shortcut's which for programming is utterly bad. Too many shortcut's ( and that's why just last Friday we had a bug on one of our systems that caused a lot of panic ). So I'm trying to investigate on the ROI of using already existing CMS solutions VS developing our own customized CMS ( based on a open source library or not ). So that I can sell this to my boss. I'm almost sure that developing a customized CMS is the best for our small company. After a search on google I found this: Choose between a commercial, open source, or customized CMS, but the link is from 2003, it has some truth's, but the world changed a lot from 2003. But I can't seem to find anything else about it. I've developed my own CMS, so I know it's not the most easy thing to do, and that it takes time. Can someone give me any tips? EDIT: With CMS I mean Content Management System, to manage the webpages of our clients.

• Solaris 10 opencsw git package issue with bitbucket git hosting

  Has anyone tried using `git' from opencsw package in order to work with bitbucket source hosting service (under solaris10)? I tried to use git as the bitbucket documentation explains, and - under Debian GNU/Linux, it worked flawlessly as described, but - under Solaris 10, I got Authentication Failed message. I even tried to run truss to see anything is suspicious but could not find any smoking gun under solaris why it failed. ldd git-binary didnd't show anything suspicious either (except for the libcrypt library which could be a suspicious to think about export restrictions. Have they shipped incompatible version? BUT since the password is typed into https: connection, I suspect it is only a matter of web-level cryptography and should be universal these days.) I am now tempted to compile git suite under solaris 10, but I did find people who seem to be using git with bitbucket under solaris 10 and am wondering what could be wrong.

Also which languages have libraries for these subniches? Things like bioperl/scipy/Incanter. Please no flamewars about how nice each language or environment is. This is where they used. • How to get iTunes to recognize that certain ID3 tags have been removed from files?

  I use MusicBrainz Picard to manage the ID3 tags on my MP3 collection and iTunes for playing them and managing my iPod. I have Picard set to remove the Composer tag from any files that don't also contain the word "Classical" in the Genre tag. I've run Picard and it has removed the Composer tag from many of my files. However, iTunes keeps displaying the old value of the Composer field. I have tried right-clicking on the file to update, choosing "Get Info" and clicking OK. This has no effect on the Composer field when it has been removed entirely; it only refreshes the displayed value when it has been changed from one non-empty value to another. How can I get iTunes to stop showing the old values for tags that have been removed? Please note I don't want to lose other iTunes metadata such as ratings and play counts, so removing the files from the iTunes library and re-adding them is not an option.

  WSS 3.0 IIS6/WinSever2003 CAG We have several WSS sites on a SharePoint WSS box that talk to the outside, all of which are SSL enabled. So you get a CAG(Citrix Access Gateway) to translate the 443 port to the local ssl port on the server. Everything is set up and works fine until you get into the Site Settings and start rooting around, it seems like a very unstable link library. Links will try to use the local ssl port number instead of the 443 standard; it will try to skip the step. Is that the site? Any ideas on how to fix it?

• How to determine which source files are required for an Eclipse run configuration

  When writing code in an Eclipse project, I'm usually quite messy and undisciplined in how I create and organize my classes, at least in the early hacky and experimental stages. In particular, I create more than one class with a main method for testing different ideas that share most of the same classes. If I come up with something like a useful app, I can export it to a runnable jar so I can share it with friends. But this simply packs up the whole project, which can become several megabytes big if I'm relying on large library such as httpclient. Also, if I decide to refactor my lump of code into several projects once I work out what works, and I can't remember which source files are used in a particular run configuration, all I can do it copy the main class to a new project and then keep copying missing types till the new project compiles. Is there a way in Eclipse to determine which classes are actually used in a particular run configuration?

  Argh, I tried to create a new ftp user via the commandline. But i did something wrong and now I can access the server via FTP but I can't see any files.   If I open an instance of Windows Explorer, a button appears on the taskbar; its icon matches the icon of current location in Explorer. E.g. If I've clicked on a drive (e.g. C:) then the taskbar icon changes to the drive icon. If I select the Pictures Library location, the taskbar icon changes to a little picture symbol. How can I stop this behaviour, so that the taskbar icon always shows the same icon, regardless of where I've clicked in Explorer?

• Automatic Generalization

  I have been interested in functional programming since college. I played around a little with LISP back then, but I have not had an opportunity since then. Now that F# ships standard with VS 2010, I figured now is my chance. So, I was reading up on it a little over the weekend when I came across a very interesting topic. F# includes a concept called "Automatic Generalization". As I understand it, the compiler will look at your method and analyze how you are using parameters. It will automatically switch to a generic parameter if it is possible based on your usage. Wow! I am looking forward to playing with this. I have long been an advocate of using the most generic types possible especially when developing library classes. Use the highest level base class that you can get away with. Use an interface instead of a specific implementation. I don't advocate passing object around, but you get the idea. Tools like resharper, fxCop, and most static code analysis tools provide guidance to help you identify when a more generalized type is possible, but this is the first time I have heard about the compiler taking matters into its own hands. I like the sound of this. We'll see if it is a good idea or not. What are your thoughts? Am I missing the mark on what Automatic Generalization does in F#? How would this work in C#? Do you see any problems with this?

  I would like to justify whether my concept in the open source license is correct, as you know that, misunderstanding the terms may lead to a serious law sue. Thank you. The main difference among the open source license is whether the license is copyleft. Copyleft license means allow the others to reproduce, modify and distribute the products but the released product is bound by the same licensing restriction. That means they have to use the same license for the modified version. Also, the copyleft license require all the released modified version to be free software. On the other hand, if any others create derived work incorporating non-copyleft licensed code, they can choose any license for the code. The serveral kinds of license and comparsion GPL is a restrictive license. Software requires to released as GPL license if that integrate or is modified from the other GPL license software . The library used in developing GPL license software are also restricted to GPL and LGPL , proprietary software are not allowed to employ (or complied with) in any part of the GPL application. LGPL is similar to GPL , but was more permissive with regarding allow the using of other non-GPL software. BSD is relatively simple license, it allow developer to do anything on the original source code . The license holder do not hold any legal responsibilities for their released product. Apache license is evolved from the BSD license. The legal terms are improved and are written by legal professionals in a more modern way. • Python Profiling not installed in Ubuntu? How do I get it in a virtualenv and without apt-get?

  According to the Python documentation, the "profile" module is part of the standard library. But I can't find it. On my home machine, I was able to add it using apt-get install. (ie. it's split out into a separate ubuntu package.) On my work machine, (also ubuntu) I'm running in a virtualenv, so apt-get install isn't relevant. I can install python modules from pypi using easy-install, but I can't see anything on pypi which corresponds to the profiling module. (Presumably because it's meant to be part of the standard python install.) So how can I install it in this environment?

• Software to convert Powerpoint slideshows to images?

  Is there any software out there that is able to convert a Powerpoint slideshow (either in 2003 or 2007 format) to a series of JPG or PNG images? I'm looking for either standalone software that can do this from the command line, or ideally a .NET library that can be utilized to do the conversion (not holding my breath on that last one). I know that Powerpoint itself can do the conversion, but it's something I'm looking to integrate into a web application that can't rely on PowerPoint itself being installed. I've done some searches out there, but all I can really find are either instructions on how to do this in Powerpoint, or software itself that looks like its from a very shady source.

• C++ Iterator lifetime and detecting invalidation

  Based on what's considered idiomatic in C++11: should an iterator into a custom container survive the container itself being destroyed? should it be possible to detect when an iterator becomes invalidated? are the above conditional on "debug builds" in practice? Details: I've recently been brushing up on my C++ and learning my way around C++11. As part of that, I've been writing an idiomatic wrapper around the uriparser library. Part of this is wrapping the linked list representation of parsed path components. I'm looking for advice on what's idiomatic for containers. One thing that worries me, coming most recently from garbage-collected languages, is ensuring that random objects don't just go disappearing on users if they make a mistake regarding lifetimes. To account for this, both the PathList container and its iterators keep a shared_ptr to the actual internal state object. This ensures that as long as anything pointing into that data exists, so does the data. However, looking at the STL (and lots of searching), it doesn't look like C++ containers guarantee this. I have this horrible suspicion that the expectation is to just let containers be destroyed, invalidating any iterators along with it. std::vector certainly seems to let iterators get invalidated and still (incorrectly) function. What I want to know is: what is expected from "good"/idiomatic C++11 code? Given the shiny new smart pointers, it seems kind of strange that STL allows you to easily blow your legs off by accidentally leaking an iterator. Is using shared_ptr to the backing data an unnecessary inefficiency, a good idea for debugging or something expected that STL just doesn't do? (I'm hoping that grounding this to "idiomatic C++11" avoids charges of subjectivity...)

• Replicating EFS encrypted files

  Recently I attempted to configure Microsoft's DFSR on Windows 2008 R2 to replicate a folder which was encrypted with EFS. The setup gave no errors or warnings, but later I read that DFSR does not support EFS in any way. There were also event logs in the DFSR event log indicating an encrypted file was found and wont be replicated. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773238(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_052 My question is, are there any tools that would allow this to occur? Software based preferably.This would be replicating over LAN to destination node for two servers on the same domain.

• Error while loading shared libraries - libwebsock

  Im trying to setup libwebsock, simple C websocket library. I followed the installation procedure from INSTALL file, everything went fine. Im able to compile test program given in the examples. But when I want to run my executable, wild error appears: ./echo: error while loading shared libraries: libwebsock.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I checked /usr/local/lib twice, libwebsock.so.1 exists and is doing very well. I also tried copying the lib to the echo folder (so its placed next to binary), still same error.
