  • Change Bitlocker to use the TPM plus a USB key and a PIN

    I have bitlocker running on Windows 7 (x86) on a Dell D630 laptop (it has a 1.2 TPM). It is running in transparent mode. I'd like to know how to configure it to use a PIN and a USB key as well, but I can't find anything that looks like it does this in the UI. Does anyone know how to do this? Do I have to remove bitlocker and re-enable it?? (This should be possible according to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitLocker_Drive_Encryption)

  • Getting error while install mod_wsgi on centos6.3 with python 2.7

  • How can I install Satchmo?

    I am trying to install Satchmo 0.9 on an Ubuntu 9.10 guest off of the instructions at http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/downloads/Satchmo.pdf. I run into difficulties at 2.1.2: pip install -r http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/raw/tip/scripts/requirements.txt pip install -e hg+http://bitbucket.org/chris1610/satchmo/@v0.9#egg=satchmo The first command fails because a compile error for how it's trying to build PIL. So I ran an "aptitude install python-imaging", locally copy the first line's requirements.text, and remove the line that's unsuccessfully trying to build PIL. The first line completes without error, as does the second. The next step tells me to change directory to the /path/to/new/store, and run: python clonesatchmo.py A little bit of trouble here; I am told that clonesatchmo.py will be in /bin by now, and it isn't there, but I put some Satchmo stuff under /usr/local, create a symlink in /bin, and run: python /bin/clonesatchmo.py This gives: jonathan@ubuntu:~/store$ python /bin/clonesatchmo.py Creating the Satchmo Application Traceback (most recent call last): File "/bin/clonesatchmo.py", line 108, in <module> create_satchmo_site(opts.site_name) File "/bin/clonesatchmo.py", line 47, in create_satchmo_site import satchmo_skeleton ImportError: No module named satchmo_skeleton A find after apparently checking out the repository reveals that there is no file with a name like satchmo*skeleton* on my system.   • Problem virtualizing Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit on VirtualBox 3.1 on Windows Vista 64 bit

    Software & Hardware Setup Host System : Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit Guest : Ubuntu 10.04 (ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso) 32 bit VM : VirtualBox 3.1.8 Hardware : Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 4GB SDRAM What Happened I followed the tutorial called Installing Ubuntu inside Windows using VirtualBox located here: www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/virtualbox At first I downloaded ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso because I figured that it would be a perfect fit with my Vista 64 OS. I was wrong because it turns out the my Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 CPU does not have Intel® Virtualization Technology. So I had to go with the ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso which is 32 bit. This got me to the point where I could actually create the Ubuntu VM. So I set up the VM in VirtualBox (according to the tutorial I was following) to prepare for the Ubuntu 10.04 virtualization. Please go to my Picassa web album to see the screen shots of my VM settings and Ubuntu boot process so you can see what I experienced (they appear in the order that I experienced them in). www.picasaweb.google.com/rubysiddhi/ProblemVirtualizingUbuntu100432BitOnVirtualBox31OnWindowsVista64# The first 17 images show the VM settings. The last 8 show my attempt at virtualizing Ubuntu 10.04. You can see booting up but ultimately failing. The Specifics The one error message I got was: (process:210): GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0) It appeared on a black screen that sort of looked like a Windows console screen but with out the c:\ or the ability to type. Then this error message got more complex when tons of text appeared in the screen. Pictures 23 - 25 in the album show this text. I should also mention that I found this post in the Ubuntu forums by zonination who seemed to have similar problems to mine even though they had a different set up. The main issue I think zonination and me may be having is the fact that we can not change the color mode to 32 bit while it is booting. I think the 16 bit color mode maybe making Ubuntu fail. Not certain though. Well I hope I explained my problem thoroughly and clearly. Thanks for the tutorial. It got me started but, now I hope to finish this process so I can start developing in Ubuntu.   • Controlling the fontsize across multiple browsers

    Hello, I've got 3 browsers on my WinXPpro: Firefox 3.5.2, Opera 10 and IE 7. Alle pages are displayed fine in FF. Opera and IE seem to have a very similar issue: Both upsize fonts eventhough zoom mode in both browsers is set to 100%. I tend to believe that this might be a system-wide setting, somewhere. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks in advance.

The only downside is the widgets are "always on top". So all windows end up going under the widgets instead of above. Is there any way to disable this?

  • VMware Workstation reboot 32-bit host when starting 32/64-bit guest using VT-x

    I'm trying to start 64-bit guest (MacOSX and Windows7) on 32-bit host (Hardened Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.28-hardened-r9) using VMware Workstation (6.5.3.185404 and 7.0.1.227600). If VT-X disabled in BIOS, VMware refuse to start 64-bit guest (as expected). If VT-X enabled in BIOS, VMware start guest without complaining, but then, in about a second (I suppose as soon as guest try to switch on 64-bit) my host reboots (actually, it's more like reset - normal reboot procedure skipped and BIOS POST start immediately). My hardware is Core 2 Duo 6600 on ASUS P5B-Deluxe with latest stable BIOS 1101. I've power-cycled system, then enabled Vanderpool in BIOS. My CPU doesn't support Trusted Execution Technology, and there no way to disable it in BIOS. I've rebooted several times after that, sometimes with power-cycled, and ensure Vandertool is enabled in BIOS. I've also run VMware-guest64check-5.5.0-18463 tool, and it report "This host is capable of running a 64-bit guest operating system under this VMware product.". About a year ago I tried to disable hardened in kernel to ensure this isn't because of PaX/GrSecurity, but that doesn't help. I have not checked 32-bit guests with VT-X enabled yet, but without VT-X they works ok. ASUS provide "beta" BIOS updates, but according to their descriptions these updates doesn't fix this issue, so I'm not sure is it good idea to try it. My best guess now it's motherboard/BIOS bug. Any ideas? Update 1: I've tried to boot vt.iso provided at http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8978 and here is it report: CPU 0: VT is enabled on this core CPU 1: VT is enabled on this core Update 2: I've just tried to boot 32-bit guests (Windows7, Ubuntu9.04 and Gentoo) using all possible virtualization modes. In Automatic, Automatic with Replay, Binary translation everything works, in Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI I got message "This host does not support EPT. Using software virtualization with a software MMU." and everything works. BUT in Intel VT-x or AMD-V mode all 32-bit guests reset host just like 64-bit guests! So, this issue is not specific to 64-bit guests. One more thing. Using Intel VT-x or AMD-V mode for both 32/64-bit guests my host reset right after starting VM, i.e. before VM BIOS POST and before guest even start booting. But using Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI VM BIOS runs ok, then 64-bit guests start booting (Windows7 completed "Loading files" progressbar), and only after that host reset.

    I hope this isn't a stupid question, and if it is, then I want to at least get it over with so I don't feel so dumb in the future. Here we are, loading up a Windows crash dump with Windbg. Here are the first few lines of the debugger output: 0: kd> .dumpdebug ----- 64 bit Kernel Summary Dump Analysis DUMP_HEADER64: MajorVersion 0000000f MinorVersion 00001db1 ... The MinorVersion I mostly understand. It's hexadecimal and it translates to 7601 in decimal. Windows admins would already be able to tell from that that this must be either a Win7 x64 machine or a 2k8 R2 machine with SP1. But isn't 7601 the build number? It's supposed to be Major.Minor.Build/Revision... right? Also I don't understand the MajorVersion. It should be 6. This version of Windows is 6. But isn't 0000000f in hexadecimal 15 in decimal? The full version string of this version of Windows, when you launch the Command Prompt for instance, is 6.1.7601. If 7601 is the MinorVersion, then what is 1 and what is 6? And why does the crash dump say 0F?

    I'm receiving the following BSOD: I've tried installing the latest driver from nVidia (296.10), but it says "NVIDIA installer cannot continue", "The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.": I installed it manually at device manager, but problem still occurs. The problem does not happen in safe mode at all. Note: After restarting the computer when seeing this BSOD, the BIOS welcome screen is full of random black dots spread around: Any solutions? Update: I've tried disabling Aero by following this guide, but that didn't help.

I have tried multiple browsers and i have the latest version of flash and video drivers. I have tried re-installing flash and disabling hardware acceleration. The problem occurs on youtube and hulu. This is a clean install on a Core 2 duo with 4GB RAM and an Nvidia 8400M GS.

    I'm having a terrible time trying to get a recent version of ImageMagick installed on a CentOS 6.3 x86_64 server. First, I downloaded the RPM from the ImageMagick site and tried to install it. That failed due to missing dependencies: error: Failed dependencies: libHalf.so.4()(64bit) is needed by ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64 libIex.so.4()(64bit) is needed by ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64 libIlmImf.so.4()(64bit) is needed by ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64 libImath.so.4()(64bit) is needed by ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64 libltdl.so.3()(64bit) is needed by ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64 I have libtool-ltdl installed, but that includes libltdl.so.7, not libltdl.so.4. I have a similar problem with libHalf, libIex, libIlmImf and libImath. Typically, you can install OpenEXR to get those dependencies. Unfortunately, CentOS 6.3 includes OpenEXR 1.6.1, which includes ilmbase-devel 1.0.1. And that release of ilmbase-devel includes newer versions of those dependencies: libHalf.so.6 libIex.so.6 libIlmImf.so.6 libImath.so.6 I next tried following the instructions for installing ImageMagick from source. No luck there either. I get a build error: RPM build errors: File not found by glob: /home/sean/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/ImageMagick-6.8.0-4.x86_64/usr/lib64/ImageMagick-6.8.0/modules-Q16/coders/djvu.* I even re-ran configure to explicitly exclude djvu and I still get the same error. At this point, I'm pulling my hair out. What's the easiest way to get a relatively recent version of ImageMagick ( 6.7) installed on CentOS 6.3? Does someone offer RPMs with dependencies somewhere?
