  • Doctrine-CLI database creation issue.

    I have Doctrine setup in my Zend Framework application and I built my schema YAML file. But when I tell Doctrine to build the tables it says it does but it doesn't actually make them. It creates the models, and will create the DB but it will not populate the DB with the tables and throws no errors. Does anyone have a guess or know why this is not working? Thank you.

  • Storing day and month (without year)

    I'm having trouble with figuring out the best way to store some data in my database. I've got to store DD/MM dates in a database, but I'm not sure of the best way to store this so that it can be easily sorted and searched. Basically a user will be able to save important dates in the format DD/MM, which they will be reminded of closer to the day. The DATE data type doesn't seem completely appropriate as it includes year, but I can't think of another way of storing this data. It would be possible to include a specific year to the end of all occasions, but this almost doesn't seem right.

    Hi there, I feel like this is quite delicate, I have various folders whith projects I would like to backup into a zip/tar file, but would like to avoid backing up files such as pyc files and temporary files. I also have a Postgres db I need to backup. Any tips for running this operation as a python script? Also, would there be anyway to stop the process from hogging resources in the process? Help would be very much appreciated.

    Ok, I attempted at making my own search function which doesnt work very well. It consists of eliminating useless words such as "how" "you" "to" then using a premade Stemmer class that reduces words to their root so "Appointments" searches "appoint" However in the end I'm really only searching keywords and the results are not very accurate. Are there open source search engines that i can implement for free?

These are my requirements: It must use an existing popular p2p network (I must guarantee my key/value will be stored and kept in multiple peers). None but myself should be able to edit or delete the key/value. Ideally an encryption key that only I have access to would be required to edit my key value. All peers would be able to read the key value (read-only access, only the key holder would be able to edit the value) Is there such p2p distributed hash table? Would the bittorrent distributed hash table meet my requirements?' Where could I find documentation?

    So I'm just getting started with Nokogiri and Rails I have the following which returns the name of someone. How would I do that ? I can't seem to find atutorial on this... My goal would eventually be to have a rails form where I'd input an IMDB link which would return title and so on... (Also I'm new to ruby rails and programming so please provide easy info!)

  • import csv file/excel into sql database asp.net

    Hi everyone! I am starting a project with asp.net visual studio 2008 / SQL 2000 (2005 in future) using c#. The tricky part for me is that the existing DB schema changes often and the import files columns will all have to me matched up with the existing db schema since they may not be one to one match on column names. (There is a lookup table that provides the tables schema with column names I will use) I am exploring different ways to approach this, and need some expert advice. Is there any existing controls or frameworks that I can leverage to do any of this? So far I explored FileUpload .NET control, as well as some 3rd party upload controls to accomplish the upload such as SlickUpload but the files uploaded should be < 500mb Next part is reading of my csv /excel and parsing it for display to the user so they can match it with our db schema. I saw CSVReader and others but for excel its more difficult since I will need to support different versions. Essentially The user performing this import will insert and/or update several tables from this import file. There are other more advance requirements like record matching but and preview of the import records, but I wish to get through understanding how to do this first. Update: I ended up using csvReader with LumenWorks.Framework for uploading the csv files.

    I just finished my first PHP site and now I have a security-related question. I used PEAR:DB for the database connection and made a separate parameter file for it. How should I hide this parameter file? I found a guide (http://www.kitebird.com/articles/peardb.html) that says: Another way to specify connection parameters is to put them in a separate file that you reference from your main script. ... It also enables you to move the parameter file outside of the web server's document tree, which prevents its contents from being displayed literally if the server becomes misconfigured and starts serving PHP scripts as plain text. I have now put my file in a directory like this /include/db_parameters.inc However, if I go to this URL, the web server shows me the contents of the file including my database username and password. From what I've understood, I should protect this file so, that even though PHP would be served as text, nobody could read this. What does outside of web server's document tree mean here? Put the PHP file out of public_html directory altogether deeper into the server file system? Some CHMOD?

  • Making a relevant search of text in database using regex

    Can anyone tell me how I could count the possible instances of a keyword in a block of text? I've split a search term up into separate tokens, so just need to run through and do a count for every instance and removing punctuation or other special characters when making the count. Secondly, if someone has inserted search terms surrounded by double quotes, i want to be able to skip explode, but just count instances of that exact phrase. It doesn't have to be case sensitive and I would like to remove punctuation from the phrase when doing the count. Thirdly, in both cases i want to be able to ignore wordpress and html tags. Lastly, if anyone know any good tutorials for relevant searches that answer the questions above, that would cool too.   • How to enumerate word document using office interop API?

    Hello everyone, I want to traverse through all the elements of an word document one by one and according to type of element (header, sentence, table,image,textbox, shape, etc.) I want to process that element. I tried to search any enumerator or object which can represent elements of document in office interop API but failed to find any. API offers sentences, paragraphs, shapes collections but doesnt provide generic object which can point to next element. For example : <header of document> <plain text sentences> <table with many rows,columns> <text box> <image> <footer> (Please imagine it as a word document) So, now I want some enumerator which will first give me <header of document>, then on next iteration give me <plain text sentences>, then <table with many rows,columns> and so on. Does anyone knows how we can achieve this? Is it possible? I am using C#, visual studio 2005 and Word 2003. Thanks a lot

    Hey guys, first off all sorry, i can't login using my yahoo provider. anyways I have this problem. Let me explain it to you, and then I'll show you a picture. I have a access db table. It has 'report id', 'recpient id', and 'recipient name' and 'report req'. What the table "means" is that do the user using that report still require it or can we decommission it. Here is how the data looks like (blocked out company userids and usernames): *check the link below, I cant post pictures cuz yahoo open id provider isnt working. So basically I need to have 3 select queries: 1) Select all the reports where for each report, ALL the users have said no to 'reportreq'. In plain English, i want a listing of all the reports that we have to decommission because no user wants it. 2) Select all the reports where the report is required, and the batchprintcopy is more then 0. This way we can see which report needs to be printed and save paper instead of printing all the reports. 3)A listing of all the reports where the reportreq field is empty. I think i can figure this one out myself. This is using Access/VBA and the data will be exported to an excel spreadsheet. I just a simple query if it exists, OR an alogorithm to do it quickly.   • Auto save changed text in richtextbox to database

    I have created one simple note taking application in jquery & php. Current functionality is like when user clicks save button it sends a ajax request with complete data to update it in db(mysql). All works well. But now I want to auto save only changed text while user typing. I don't want to send entire text to server again and again in text change event. It should send only text which has changed. For Ex: This is saved text. When user continues typing. This is saved text. Unsaved text.. It should be able to send only "Unsaved text.." to server to update in db. How can i implement this in jquery & server side script.? Any Idea..?

  • How can I limit asp.net control actions based on user role?

    I have several pages or views in my application which are essentially the same for both authenticated users and anonymous users. I'd like to limit the insert/update/delete actions in formviews and gridviews to authenticated users only, and allow read access for both authed and anon users. I'm using the asp.net configuration system for handling authentication and roles. This system limits access based on path so I've been creating duplicate pages for authed and anon paths. The solution that comes to mind immediately is to check roles in the appropriate event handlers, limiting what possible actions are displayed (insert/update/delete buttons) and also limiting what actions are performed (for users that may know how to perform an action in the absence of a button.) However, this solution doesn't eliminate duplication - I'd be duplicating security code on a series of pages rather than duplicating pages and limiting access based on path; the latter would be significantly less complicated. I could always build some controls that offered role-based configuration, but I don't think I have time for that kind of commitment right now. Is there a relatively easy way to do this (do such controls exist?) or should I just stick to path-based access and duplicate pages? Does it even make sense to use two methods of authorization? There are still some pages which are strictly for either role so I'll be making use of path-based authorization anyway. Finally, would using something other than path-based authorization be contrary to typical asp.net design practices, at least in the context of using the asp.net configuration system?

    Hi, I've problem with Hibernate. I have a class User class User { int id; String name; } where id is native generator in User.hbm.xml , and name is primary-key in DB. In my database , I saved some information about Users. Than, I want to connect with this information about User. For example in my DB i have row INSERT INTO User VALUES ('Bill'); Main.java User bill = new User(); bill.setName("Bill"); session.saveOrUpdate(bill); This code always trying insert bill to database , rather than update when row about Bill exists in DB...   • Base64 Encoded Data - DB or Filesystem

    I have a new program that will be generating a lot of Base64 encoded audio and image data. This data will be served via HTTP in the form of XML and the Base64 data will be inline. These files will most likely break 20MB and higher. Would it be more efficient to serve these files directly from the filesystem or would it be feasible to store the data in a MySQL database? Caching will be set up but overall unnecessary because it is likely that this data will be purged shortly after it is created and served. i know that storing binary data in the DB is frowned upon in most circumstances but since this will all be character data I want to see what the consensus is. As of now, I am leaning toward storing them in the filesystem for efficiency reasons but if it is feasible to store them in a database it would be much easier to manage the data.
