  • Unit testing task queues in AppEngine

    - by Swizec Teller
For a very long time now I've been using task queues on AppEngine to schedule tasks, just the way I'm supposed to. But what I've always been wondering is how does one write tests for that? Until now I've simply made tests to make sure an error doesn't occur on the API that queues a task and then wrote the more proper tests for the API executing the task. However lately I've started feeling a bit unsatisfied by this and I'm searching for a way to actually test that the correct task has been added to the correct queue. Hopefully this can be done better than simply by deploying the code and hoping for the best. I'm using django-nonrel, if that has any bearing on the answer. To recap: How can a unit test be written to confirm tasks have been queued?

  • Running the same code for get(self) as post(self)

    - by Peter Farmer
Its been mentioned in other answers about getting the same code running for both the def get(self) and the def post(self) for any given request. I was wondering what techniques people use, I was thinking of: class ListSubs(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self._run() def post(self): self._run() def _run(self): self.response.out.write("This works nicely!")

  • Error trying to transform image < 1 MB in App Engine

    - by ryan
So I know that App Engine prevents working with images greater than 1 MB in size, but I'm getting a RequestTooLargeError when I call images.resize on an jpg that is 400K on disk. The dimensions of the jpg are 1600 x 1200, so is it that app engine can't handle resizing images over 1 megapixel, even if the image file itself is a compressed format that is smaller than 1 MB?

  • Setting up GCALDaemon in Eclipse

    - by amadib
Hello, my eventual goal is to be able to use the authentication and communication to a GMail inbox. In my attempt, I stumbled up on GCALDaemon and am trying to set it up as a project within eclipse. However, I am running into problems running the project from the included .launch files. I am receiving the following errors after running with -Dlog4j.debug on log4j: Trying to find [log4j.xml] using context classloader sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1ba34f2. log4j: Trying to find [log4j.xml] using sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1ba34f2 class loader. log4j: Trying to find [log4j.xml] using ClassLoader.getSystemResource(). log4j: Trying to find [log4j.properties] using context classloader sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1ba34f2. log4j: Trying to find [log4j.properties] using sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@1ba34f2 class loader. log4j: Trying to find [log4j.properties] using ClassLoader.getSystemResource(). log4j: Could not find resource: [null]. log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.gcaldaemon.core.Configurator). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. • GAE JCache NumberFormatException, will I need to write Java to avoid?

    - by Jasper
    This code below produces a NumberFormatException in this line: val cache = cf.createCache(Collections.emptyMap()) Do you see any errors? Will I need to write a Java version to avoid this, or is there a Scala way? ... import java.util.Collections import net.sf.jsr107cache._ object QueryGenerator extends ServerResource { private val log = Logger.getLogger(classOf[QueryGenerator].getName) } class QueryGenerator extends ServerResource { def getCounter(cache:Cache):long = { if (cache.containsKey("counter")) { cache.get("counter").asInstanceOf[long] } else { 0l } } @Get("html") def getHtml(): Representation = { val cf = CacheManager.getInstance().getCacheFactory() val cache = cf.createCache(Collections.emptyMap()) val counter = getCounter(cache) cache.put("counter", counter + 1) val q = QueueFactory.getQueue("query-generator") q.add(TaskOptions.Builder.url("/tasks/query-generator").method(Method.GET).countdownMillis(1000L)) QueryGenerator.log.warning(counter.toString) new StringRepresentation("QueryGenerator started!", MediaType.TEXT_HTML) } } Thanks!

  • Parent key of type encoded string?

    - by user246114
Hi, How do we create a parent key which is an encoded string? Example: class Parent { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="gae.encoded-pk", value="true") private String mEncKey; } class Child { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="gae.encoded-pk", value="true") private String mEncKey; // In the doc examples, they have Key as the type here. @Persistent @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="gae.parent-pk", value="true") private String mParentEncKey; } yeah I'm not sure how to make mParentEncKey an encoded string type, because the 'key' label is already being used? I would need something like?: key="gae.parent-pk.encoded-pk" not sure - is that possible? Thanks

  • Map works, but throws a popup error at load complainig about wrong api key

    - by Filip
Ok, I see a lot of people have this problem, but none answer I found either here or at stackoverflow. Problem: Map works super fine! But throws an error at load "This map needs a different api key... sign up at......" Already signed up, already got a key. On some forum post a guy told that in this case map loads twice, once with the wrong key, another with the right one. But Im sure my app loads it once and with the correct key. URL: http://ki.org.ua/ (it will redirect to /projects but I think that it aint a problem cuz i tested without redirection too) Thanks in advance for any suggestion or help.

  • GAE app.yaml appears to be inconsistently routing requests

    - by kamens
I have the following in app.yaml: - url: /gae_mini_profiler/static static_dir: gae_mini_profiler/static - url: /gae_mini_profiler/.* script: gae_mini_profiler/main.py - url: .* script: main.py and the following in gae_mini_profiler/main.py: def main(): logging.critical("gae_mini_profiler request!") run_wsgi_app(application) However, when I fire requests to, say, /gae_mini_profiler/request?request=ABC, and repeatedly reload the page, sometimes I will get the proper response (as well as a "gae_mini_profiler request!" log entry, and sometimes I get a blank response and nothing in the App Engine logs other than a 200 with an empty response body. This is completely reproducible, only happens in the live environment, and I'd say ~50% of the refreshes work while 50% do not. This only happens in production. Any ideas?

  • Extending appengine's db.Property with caching

    - by Noio
I'm looking to implement a property class for appengine, very similar to the existing db.ReferenceProperty. I am implementing my own version because I want some other default return values. My question is, how do I make the property remember its returned value, so that the datastore query is only performed the first time the property is fetched? What I had is below, and it does not work. I read that the Property classes do not belong to the instances, but to the model definition, so I guess that the return value is not cached for each instance, but overwritten on the model every time. Where should I store this _resolved variable? class PageProperty(db.Property): data_type = Page def get_value_for_datastore(self, model_instance): page = super(PageProperty, self).get_value_for_datastore(model_instance) self._resolved = page return page.key().name() def make_value_from_datastore(self, value): if not hasattr(self, '_resolved'): self._resolved = Page.get_by_name(value) return self._resolved

  • disable download of my paid app in Android

    - by Boy
I have a paid app in the store which will remove the ads in another app when it is installed on that device. Now I want to remove this 'remove ads' app, as I want to have an in-app payement for this for instance (or maybe I just keep the ads version only). But the problem is, if I unpublish the app, people who bought it will not be able to download it again when they get a new phone or reset their phone. How to I keep the app in the Play Store, but prevent people from buying it? Is this possible? My backup plan is: make the app cost 10.000 euro's and put in the message that this app should not be bought anymore. But I don't like that...
