  • Can't connect to or search wifi

    I just installed the latest version of Ubuntu, I think it was 13. Something. Anyway I got it running and now I've been trying to connect to my wifi. No matter where I go I don't see an option for wifi. I looked on the computer and found some commands to use in terminal to run a scan for wifi networks but all of them returned the error "interface doesn't support scanning" if anyone could help that would be great...I can't do anything without wifi! Also I'm new to this so if you could give step by step directions that would help a lot. Thanks!

In the first few weeks, it was getting indexed nicely and my GoogleWebmaster reports were showing that it was getting crawled and began ranking for some terms. Then as I kept writing, the GoogleWebmaster report thinned out and showed less and less terms that this blog ranks for. Now there are only 4 terms with one of them being my name.     I see that the most time on computer I loose just for searching a suitable software. How you do it? what is your way to find a software? you first go on Forum?, google? Which torrent site? which P2P prog.? website, server? my problem - my way is: For example: "I need a software that have function remote and also leaves you to copy and paste (drag and drop - file manage). And after few hours searching on Google I download LOGMEIN pro2, but than I see that is just trial. so if I need to find alternative I will spend another whole day Where to go?     I've asked this question before and I got a few answers/idea, but I'm not sure how to implement them. I'm building a telecom messaging solution. Currently, I'm using a database to save my transaction/messages for the network stack I've built, and as you know it's slower than using a data structure (hash, linkedlist, etc...). My problem is that the data can be really huge, and it won't fit in the memory. I was thinking of saving the records in a file and the a key and line number in a hash, then if I want to access some record then I can get the line number from the hash, and get it from the file. I don't know how efficient is this; I think the database is doing a way better job than this on my behalf. Please share whatever you have in mind.

    I have been using this performance benchmark results to select what CPUs to use on my web server and to my surprise, looks like Core i7 CPUs dominates the list pushing Xeon CPUs into the bush. Why is this? Why is Intel making the Core i7 perform better than the Xeon. Are Desktop CPUs supposed to perform better than server grade Xeon CPUs? I really don't get this and will like to know what you think or why this is so. Also I am thinking about getting a new web server and thinking between the i7-2600 VS the Xeon E3-1245. The i7-2600 is higher up in the performance benchmark but I am thinking the Xeon E3-1245 is server grade. What do you guys think? Should I go for the i7-2600? Or is the Xeon E3-1245 a server grade CPU for a reason?
