• Position:absolute

  I have I have a div called logo. I want the logo to be on top of other areas and to overlap into the the preface top of a drupal site, the logo currently sits in the header area. I looked up position absolute and I think that what I need to use but when I use position absolute the logo disappears, I can see it if I use position fixed, relative etc. I thought the logo was being hidden because I was not using a z-index but even with that I cant see the logo.   Fist off thanks for reading this, I appreciate any and all suggestions. I am having some serious problems reconnecting to my OpenVPN client using Riseup.net's VPN. I have spent a few days banging my head against the wall in attempts to set this up on my iOS devices....but that is a whole other issue. I was however able to set it up on my Mac OS X specifically on my Windows Vista 32 bit BootCamp VM with relatively little trouble. To originally connect I only had to modify the recommended Config file very slightly (Config file included at the end of this post): - I had to enter the code directly into my config file - And change "dev tap" to "dev tun" So I was connected. (Note - I did test to ensure the VPN was actually working after I originally connected, it was. Also verified the .pem file (inserted as the coding in my config file) for authenticity). I left the VPN running. My computer went to sleep. Today I went to use the internet expecting (possibly incorrectly - I am now unsure if I was wrong to leave it running) to still be connected to the VPN. However I saw immediately I was not. I went to reconnect. And was (am) unable to. Also tried adding the following lines to my config file (without success or change in error): persist-key persist-tun proto tcp (after reading that this error generally occurs on UDP connections, and is extremely rare on TCP) resolv-retry infinite (thinking the connection may have timed out since the issues occurred after leaving VPN connected during about 10 hrs of computer in sleep mode) All attempts resulted in exact same error code included at the top of this post. The original suggestions I found online stated - (regarding the TLS Error) - This error should resolve itself within 60 seconds, or if not quit wait 120 seconds and try again. (Which isnt the case here...) (regarding the Out of Sync" error) - If you continue to get "out of sync" errors and the link does not come up, then it means that something is probably wrong with your config file. You must use either ping and ping-restart on both sides of the connection, or keepalive on the server side of a client/server connection, in order to gracefully recover from "local/remote TLS keys are out of sync" errors. I wouldn't be surprised if my config file is lacking, or not correct. However I can confirm I followed the instructions to a tee. And was able to connect originally (and have not modified my settings or config file since I was able to connect to when the error began occurring). • Using pfSense, OpenVPN Connects but Still Can't See the Network

  I am having an OpenVPN issue. I have a pfSense box at home configured to allow traffic through a VPN tunnel. The client computer is Windows XP Home, behind a standard Comcast connection and a Netgear wireless router. I use OpenVPN to access my work network (from where I am trying to get out of in this post) from home (with an XP Pro machine behind pfSense), and this works fine. The client config is similar but has the changes specific to my setup... Here is my XP Home config: client dev tun proto tcp remote pfsense.*.org 1194 (starred out by me) resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun ca ca.crt cert client.crt key client.key ns-cert-type server comp-lzo verb 3 When I launch the OpenVPN GUI, the Tunnel TAP network connection turns red, and I can right-click that to connect to the server. Everything seems to work fine until I browse for the actual network. The Tunnel TAP connection turns green and it says connected to 10.1.1.6 (I have tried different IP pools here too with no luck). I can see the internal network fine, but my home network behind pfSense is not there. I have tried browsing there by using Tools Map Network Drive, using the browser, with no success. At first there was just the WAN firewall rule, because that is what I got from the literature I was reading. I then created a LAN rule as well, but I'm not sure if this was correct. • OpenGL/SharpGL - Points only on -near surface of Ortho projection?

  When you create points using three dimensions for each point and you use an Ortho projection to view the points, would there be a reason that only the points on the -near surface would appear? For example, if you use (the SharpGL method) gl.Ortho(0, width, height, 0, -10, 10), only the points at z=10 (because the near surface is at -10) actually show up. I'm currently using SharpGL - but I'm hoping the issue I'm having isn't with that particular implementation/library. EDIT: I'm adding the code below that demonstrates the issue. Note that this example requires SharpGL and is in fact a modification of a WPF sample project that comes with the current SharpGL source code (the original sample project is called TwoDSample). The project requires a MainWindow.xaml and a MainWindow.xaml.cs. • touchend event doesn't work on Android

  Hi, I've just started looking at doing some basic mobile web development on the android and an writing a test script to investigate the touch events. I've run the following code in the android emulator, and the touchend event never gets fired. Can anyone tell me why ? I've tried in three versions of the emulator (1.6, 2.1 and 2.2) and all three behave in the same way. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. • Migrate from MySQL to PostgreSQL on Linux (Kubuntu)

  A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Trying to migrate a database from MySQL to PostgreSQL. All the documentation I have read covers, in great detail, how to migrate the structure. I have found very little documentation on migrating the data. The schema has 13 tables (which have been migrated successfully) and 9 GB of data. MySQL version: 5.1.x PostgreSQL version: 8.4.x I want to use the R programming language to analyze the data using SQL select statements; PostgreSQL has PL/R, but MySQL has nothing (as far as I can tell). A New Hope Create the database location (/var has insufficient space; also dislike having the PostgreSQL version number everywhere -- upgrading would break scripts!): sudo mkdir -p /home/postgres/main sudo cp -Rp /var/lib/postgresql/8.4/main /home/postgres sudo chown -R postgres.postgres /home/postgres sudo chmod -R 700 /home/postgres sudo usermod -d /home/postgres/ postgres All good to here. How do I ensure that adding new rows in PostgreSQL will start enumerating from the index of the last row inserted (and not conflict with an existing primary key from the sequence)? How do you ensure the schema name comes through when transforming the data from MySQL to PostgreSQL inserts? • Add Service Reference is generating Message Contracts

  OK, this has been haunting me for a while, can't find much on Google and I am starting to lose hope so I am reverting to the SO community. When I import a given service using "Add service Reference" on Visual Studio 2008 (SP1) all the Request/Response messages are being unnecessarily wrapped into Message Contracts (named as -- "operationName" + "Request"/"Response" + "1" at the end). The code generator says: // CODEGEN: Generating message contract since the operation XXX is neither RPC nor document wrapped. The guys who are generating the wsdl from a Java service say they are specifying DOCUMENT-LITERAL/WRAPPED. Any help/pointer/clue would be highly appreciated. Update: this is a sample of my wsdl for one of the operations that look suspicious. To my surprise it was not the case and having all the types defined in the wsdl did not change anything. I then (out of desperation) started constructing wsdls from scratch and playing with the maxOccurs attributes of element attributes contained in a sequence attribute I was able to reproduce the undesired message contract generation behavior. • Android: get current location from best available provider

  Hi all, I have some Android code that needs to get the best available location QUICKLY, from GPS, network or whatever is available. Accuracy is less important than speed. Getting the best available location is surely a really standard task. Yet I can't find any code to demonstrate it. The Android location code expects you to specify criteria, register for updates, and wait - which is fine if you have detailed criteria and don't mind waiting around. But my app needs to work a bit more like the Maps app does when it first locates you - work from any available provider, and just check the location isn't wildly out of date or null. I've attempted to roll my own code to do this, but am having problems. (It's inside an IntentService where an upload happens, if that makes any difference. I've included all the code for info.) I never even get a log statement of locationChanged. It's funny, because from ddms I can see output like: NetworkLocationProvider: onCellLocationChanged [305,8580] NetworkLocationProvider: getNetworkLocation(): returning cache location with accuracy 75.0 seeming to suggest that the network provider does have some location info after all, I'm just not getting at it. Can anyone help? I think working example code would be a useful resource for the Android/StackOverflow community.

• What does it mean when ARP shows <incomplete> on eth1

  We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps.

• UIScrollView zoomToRect not zooming to given rect (created from UITouch CGPoint)

  My application has a UIScrollView with one subview. The subview is an extended UIView which prints a PDF page to itself using layers in the drawLayer event. Zooming using the built in pinching works great. setZoomScale also works as expected. I have been struggling with the zoomToRect function. I found an example online which makes a CGRect zoomRect variable from a given CGPoint. In the touchesEnded function, if there was a double tap and they are all the way zoomed out, I want to zoom in to that PDFUIView I created as though they were pinching out with the center of the pinch where they double tapped. So assume that I pass the UITouch variable to my function which utilizes zoomToRect if they double tap. If I make UIView like this UIView *v = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:zoomRect]; [v setBackgroundColor:[UIView redColor]]; [self addSubview:v]; The red box shows up with the touch point dead in the center. Please note: I am writing this from my PC, I recall messing around with the divided by two part on my Mac, so just assume that this draws a rect with the touch point in the center. If the UIView drew off center but zoomed to the right spot it would be all good. However, what happens is when it preforms the zoomToRect it seems to use the bottom right off the zoomRect at the top left of the zoomed in results. Also, I noticed that depending on where I click on the UIScrollView, it anchors to diffrent spots. It almost seems like there is a cross down the middle and it's reflecting the points somehow as though anywhere left of the middle is a negative reflection and anywhere right of the middle is a positive reflection? This seems to complicated, shouldn't it just zoom to the rect that was drawn as the UIView was able to draw? I used a lot of research to figure out how to create a PDF that scales in high quality, so I am assuming that using the CALayer may be throwing off the coordinate system? But to the UIScrollView it should just treat it as a view with 768x985 dimensions. This is sort of advanced, please assume the code for creating the zoomRect is all good. There is something deeper with the CALayer in the UIView which is in the UIScrollView....

• Zoom on multiple areas in d3.js

  I'm planning to have a geoJSON map inside my svg alongside other svg elements. I would like to be able to zoom (zoom+pan) in the map and keep the map in the same location with a bounding box. I can accomplish this by using a clipPath to keep the map within a rectangular area. The problem is that I also want to enable zooming and panning on my entire svg. If I do d3.select("svg").call(myzoom); this overrides any zoom I applied to my map. How can I apply zoom to both my entire svg and to my map? That is, I want to be able to zoom+pan on my map when my mouse is in the map's bounding box, and when the mouse is outside the bounding box, zoom+pan on the entire svg. • Using DateTime in a SqlParameter for Stored Procedure, format error

  I'm trying to call a stored procedure (on a SQL 2005 server) from C#, .NET 2.0 using DateTime as a value to a SqlParameter. The SQL type in the stored procedure is 'datetime'. Executing the sproc from SQL Management Studio works fine. But everytime I call it from C# I get an error about the date format. When I run SQL Profiler to watch the calls, I then copy paste the exec call to see whats going on. These are my observations and notes about what I've attempted: 1) If I pass the DateTime in directly as a DateTime or converted to SqlDateTime, the field is surrounding by a PAIR of single quotes, such as @Date_Of_Birth=N''1/8/2009 8:06:17 PM'' 2) If I pass the DateTime in as a string, I only get the single quotes 3) Using SqlDateTime.ToSqlString() does not result in a UTC formatted datetime string (even after converting to universal time) 4) Using DateTime.ToString() does not result in a UTC formatted datetime string. 5) Manually setting the DbType for the SqlParameter to DateTime does not change the above observations. So, my questions then, is how on earth do I get C# to pass the properly formatted time in the SqlParameter? Surely this is a common use case, why is it so difficult to get working? Update and Success First and foremost, thank you everyone for the answers. I post this for the sake of completeness and accuracy on SO - because I certainly do not do it for my pride... I had copy/pasted the code above after the request from below. I trimmed things here and there to be concise. Turns out my problem was in the code I left out, which I'm sure any one of you would have spotted in an instant. I had wrapped my sproc calls inside a transaction. Turns out that I was simply not doing transaction.Commit()!!!!! I'm ashamed to say it, but there you have it. I still don't know what's going on with the syntax I get back from the profiler. A coworker watched with his own instance of the profiler from his computer, and it returned proper syntax. Watching the very SAME executions from my profiler showed the incorrect syntax. It acted as a red-herring, making me believe there was a query syntax problem instead of the much more simple and true answer, which was that I need to commit the transaction! I marked an answer below as correct, and threw in some up-votes on others because they did, after all, answer the question, even if they didn't fix my specific (brain lapse) issue.   I've stumbled upon what I believe is a bug in the stl algorithm advance. When I'm advancing the iterator off of the end of the container, I get inconsistent results. Sometimes I get container.end(), sometimes I get the last element. • Recognize objects in image

  Hello I am in the process of doing a school project, where we have a robot driving on the ground in between Flamingo plates. We need to create an algorithm that can identify the locations of these plates, so we can create paths around them (We are using A Star for that). So far have we worked with AForged Library and we have created the following class, the only problem with this is that when it create the rectangles dose it not take in account that the plates are not always parallel with the camera border, and it that case will it just create a rectangle that cover the whole plate. So we need to some way find the rotation on the object, or another way to identify this. • Doing CRUD on XML using id attributes in C# ASP.NET

  I'm a LAMP guy and ended up working this small news module for an asp.net site, which I am having some difficulty with. I basically am adding and deleting elements via AJAX based on the id. Before, I had it working based on the the index of a set of elements, but would have issues deleting, since the index would change in the xml file and not on the page (since I am using ajax). • Creating a GraphicsPath from a semi-transparent bitmap

  I want to create a GraphicsPath and a list of Points to form the outline of the non-transparent area of a bitmap. If needed, I can guarantee that each image has only one solid collection of nontransparent pixels. So for example, I should be able to record the points either clockwise or counter-clockwise along the edge of the pixels and perform a full closed loop. The speed of this algorithm is not important. However, the efficiency of the resulting points is semi-important if I can skip some points to reduce in a smaller and less complex GraphicsPath. I will list my current code below which works perfectly with most images. However, some images which are more complex end up with paths which seem to connect in the wrong order. • Segmentation Fault (11) with modwsgi on CentOS 5.7 when running pyramid app

  I'm getting Segmentation fault error when trying to access the "Hello World" pyramid app. This error only occurs when running against CentOS 5.7 setup, but no problem whatsoever when tested against OSX and Arch Linux. Could it be a CentOS specific issue? A quick check reveals that shared library is not the issue. • Missing audio and problems playing FLV video converted from 720p .mov file with FFMPEG

  I have some .mov video files recorded from a JVC GC-FM1 HD video camera in 720p mode. I have FFMPEG running on a Linux box that I upload files to and have them encoded into FLV format. The video appears to be encoding ok but there is no audio in the resulting FLV file and when I play it back in Flash Player in a browser or on Adobe Media Player, the video pauses at the start. It appears that Adobe Media Player waits for the progress bar to reach the end of the video before starting the playback - i.e. the video will load, the picture pauses, the progress bar seeks to the end as if the video was playing then when it reaches the end the video picture starts. There is no audio on the video. I am noticing this in the video player I have built with Flash 8 using an FLVPlayback component and attached seekBar. The seek bar will start moving as if the video is playing but the picture remains paused.
