  • MVCContrib Testing Route with Areas

    Hi, I am using MVC 2 with Area. To test routing, I am using MvcContrib. This is the testing code: [Test] public void Home() { MvcApplication.RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); "~/".ShouldMapTo(x = x.Login("Nps")); } I am not sure how to call routing definition that are stored in Areas. Calling AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas() is not an option as it gives an exception. Thanks Revin

  • EF4 Import/Lookup thousands of records - my performance stinks!

    I'm trying to setup something for a movie store website (using ASP.NET, EF4, SQL Server 2008), and in my scenario, I want to allow a "Member" store to import their catalog of movies stored in a text file containing ActorName, MovieTitle, and CatalogNumber as follows: Actor, Movie, CatalogNumber John Wayne, True Grit, 4577-12 (repeated for each record) This data will be used to lookup an actor and movie, and create a "MemberMovie" record, and my import speed is terrible if I import more than 100 or so records using these tables: Actor Table: Fields = {ID, Name, etc.} Movie Table: Fields = {ID, Title, ActorID, etc.} MemberMovie Table: Fields = {ID, CatalogNumber, MovieID, etc.} My methodology to import data into the MemberMovie table from a text file is as follows (after the file has been uploaded successfully): Create a context. For each line in the file, lookup the artist in the Actor table. For each Movie in the Artist table, lookup the matching title. If a matching Movie is found, add a new MemberMovie record to the context and call ctx.SaveChanges(). The performance of my implementation is terrible. My expectation is that this can be done with thousands of records in a few seconds (after the file has been uploaded), and I've got something that times out the browser. My question is this: What is the best approach for performing bulk lookups/inserts like this? Should I call SaveChanges only once rather than for each newly created MemberMovie? Would it be better to implement this using something like a stored procedure?   • YQL and FLickr query not understood in the console

    Hello, So I am trying to use YQL to access the flickr api but I have been having some issues. From reading the YQL info, it seemed like I could use any flickr query in YQL but for some reason I cannot use flickr.people.getPublicPhotos call to access all pictures from a certain person. When I try any such query it isn't recognized. Is this possible? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

  • IPhone SDK handling calls

    Is there any way to handle call events in IPhone? i.e. Log calls and sms in my app, block unwanted numbers, etc. I know the IPhone SDK doesn't provide that but I have been googling this and what I got was an app called iBlackList. Although it runs on jail-broken phones but it does my required functionality. I wonder how? Has anyone idea about how these tasks can be accomplished?

    I have the following code inside a method: var list = new[] { new { Name = "Red", IsSelected = true }, new { Name = "Green", IsSelected = false }, new { Name = "Blue", IsSelected = false }, }; I would like to call a function that requires a list of elements with each element implementing an interface (ISelectable). I know how this is done with normal classes, but in this case I am only trying to fill in some demo data. Is it possible to create an anonymous class implementing an interface? like this: new { Name = "Red", IsSelected = true } : ISelectable

    Anyone know if it is easily possible to send **kwargs over PyAMF from NetConnection.call()? I would like it. I could write a wrapper around the actual function and expose that and perform some parsing manually to determine the kwargs to pass in, but I don't want to do that. I will just use a normal argument list in that case.

  • iPhone: Problems releasing UIViewController in a multithreaded environment

    Hi! I have a UIViewController and in that controller, i am fetching an image from a URL source. The image is fetched in a separate thread after which the user-interface is updated on the main thread. This controller is displayed as a page in a UIScrollView parent which is implemented to release controllers that are not in view anymore. When the thread finishes fetching content before the UIViewController is released, everything works fine - but when the user scrolls to another page before the thread finishes, the controller is released and the only handle to the controller is owned by the thread making releaseCount of the controller equals to 1. Now, as soon as the thread drains NSAutoreleasePool, the controller gets releases because the releaseCount becomes 0. At this point, my application crashes and i get the following error message: bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x4d99c60: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... The backtrace reveals that the application crashed on the call to [super dealloc] and it makes total sense because the dealloc function must have been triggered by the thread when the pool was drained. My question is, how i can overcome this error and release the controller without leaking memory? One solution that i tried was to call [self retain] before the pool is drained so that retainCount doesn't fall to zero and then using the following code to release controller in the main thread: [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(autorelease) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; Unfortunately, this did not work out. Below is the function that is executed on a thread: - (void)thread_fetchContent { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSURL *imgURL = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.domain.com/image.png"]; // UIImage *imgHotspot is declared as private - The image is retained // here and released as soon as it is assigned to UIImageView imgHotspot = [[[UIImage alloc] initWithData: [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL: imgURL]] retain]; if ([self retainCount] == 1) { [self retain]; // increment retain count ~ workaround [pool drain]; // drain pool // this doesn't work - i get the same error [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(autorelease) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; } else { // show fetched image on the main thread - this works fine! [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(showImage) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; [pool drain]; } } Please help! Thank you in advance.
