• How to test unescaped &nbsps; as a whitespace

  I use apache common lang to unescape a block of html text which contains &nbsp;, I want to filter out blocks that contains only whitespaces. But I can't test the   as a whitespace. It's not in the normal whitespace list(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitespace_character), and I try to print its Hex form by calling Character.getNumericValue which return -1. &nbsp should be a whitespace,isn't? But How can I test it?

  Hello everyone I have installed xampp 1.7.3. After starting apache and mysql service when I write http://localhost/ in the internet explorer address bar it shows 'The page cannot be displayed'.   I have a very simple INSERT statement being executed from a PHP script running on a Linux Apache web server. I can run the query fine from within SQL Management Studio and it normally runs fine from PHP as well. However, every once in awhile I get an error message from my PHP script that the query failed and the mssql_get_last_message() function returns 'The statement has been terminated'. What sources can cause this message to be returned from MSSQL?

  I'm using Apache Commons Logging and SLF4J with log4j, but I also want to use the log4j.properties in a custom place like conf/log4.properties. Here is the problem: If i use PropertyConfigurator.configure("conf/log4j.properties"); then my app is tied to log4j and defets the purpose of having ACL and SLF4J.   In an Android app, I am using one static instance of org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient and sharing that instance in all activities and services of the app, so that this client may be used to log in once to a remote server and all subsequent user requests to that remote server will remain authenticated. Every activity or Service that makes a GET or POST to this remote server calls the same method : MyUtilityClass.gettHttpClient() Do I need to worry about synchronization of this httpclient? If so, what is the best way to handle this?

• Disable IPv6 on Debian VPS

  I have a Debian Lenny VPS, that's running virtualized by Parallels/Virtuozzo. Currently, the network interface doesn't have an IPv6 address - and that's good, because I don't have an ip6tables configuration. But I assume, that I could wake up one day, and ifconfig will show me an ipv6 address for the interface - because I have no control over the kernel or its modules - they're under the control of the hosting company. That would leave the server completely vulnerable to attacks from IPv6 addresses. What would be the best way to disable IPv6 (for the interface or maybe for the entire host)? Usually I would simply disable the kernel module, but that's not possible in this case.

• Mark packets across computers?

  I use Transmission on Ubuntu and I'm having this issue, which basically says that QoS is broken because there is no way to limit which outgoing ports uses. I was thinking of doing a dirty and ugly hack and create an interface alias and define QoS based on source address, but was wondering if is there another way. Is it possible to mark the packets on the original machine in some way, using the owner and mark modules of iptables and sending this to the router who does the QoS? From what I understand, mark on iptables only applies to the local machine, so this will not work, but is there another way?

• github repos cloning, but no tags/branches recreated??!!

  I've been cloning a few repos from github that, even though I know they have branches/tags, do not have them once I clone them onto my local drive. strage. I try to list the tags (git tag) but nothing comes up... • Passwordless SSH using cgi-perl script

  Hello, This is my first shot at trying out cgi-perl scripts. I have SSH keys set up between my (root user) local machine and a remote machine. I'm trying to run a command on the remote box and display the output on a webpage hosted from my local machine. The script runs fine from command line however, it throws SSH key error when called from the webpage because the user running the script is apache and not root. Is there a way to get around this issue?

I have written driver for usb and it is working as cd rom in windows machine 1)I made first partation as fat32 "modprobe g_hidmass file=/dev/mmcblk0p1 cdrom=1 stall=0 removable=1" this works fine in windows 2)I made first partation as hfs partation "modprobe g_hidmass file=/dev/mmcblk0p1 cdrom=1 stall=0 removable=1" but same thing i applied with hfs partation in MAC it is getting error like this "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" in diskutil it is shown as CD-rom but not reading the file system. frame like this Please help me how can I overcome this error...

If a developer changes a machine or gets a new user id, such properties have to be copied manually to these newer machines. Would it be possible to store user specific setting information in the repository itself (say SVN) and somehow have the mvn scripts load it on startup.

• Is there any way to remotely configure a Microsoft Lync account?

  There are no perl modules for Lync. No open source clients. Windows Powershell can do some things with it, but only on the server on which the server software is installed. It would be useful to be able to forward a certain desk phone number (we use Lync for voip) to a personal cell phone. We can do this from our own desktop machines, but only using the Lync client. It would be nice to be able to have a cron script run that just did rotations, I wouldn't have to carry around the lousy on-call phone with me. communicator.exe doesn't take any useful parameters. Nor are there any obvious function names in the DLLs that would let me just use rundll32.exe to accomplish this. There is a Lync SDK, but no examples of changing phone forwarding, and my Windows 7 machine refuses to install the Silverlight SDK dependency for some reason I can't fathom. Does anyone have any other ideas how I might accomplish this?
