  • Source Controlled Database Data import strategies.

    So I've gotten a project and got the db team sold on source control for the db (weird right?) anyway, the db already exists, it is massive, and the application is very dependent on the data. The developers need up to three different flavors of the data to work against when writing SPROCs and so on. Obviously I could script out data inserts. But my question is what tools or strategies do you use to build a db from source control and populate it with multiple large sets of data?

    Hello, I'm new to C# and am stuck on the following. I have a Silverlight web service that uses LINQ to query a ADO.NET entity object. e.g.: [OperationContract] public List<Customer> GetData() { using (TestEntities ctx = new TestEntities()) { var data = from rec in ctx.Customer select rec; return data.ToList(); } } This works fine, but what I want to do is to make this more abstract. The first step would be to return a List<EntityObject> but this gives a compiler error, e.g.: [OperationContract] public List<EntityObject> GetData() { using (TestEntities ctx = new TestEntities()) { var data = from rec in ctx.Customer select rec; return data.ToList(); } } The error is: Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Collections.Generic.List<SilverlightTest.Web.Customer>' to 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.EntityObject>'.   • Launch Apple's Stocks app, with a particular stock selected

    I would like to launch Apple's Stocks app to show information for a particular stock, on a non-jailbroken phone. I'm not interesting in how to get a quote or graph a stock myself, just opening Stocks.app. I was hoping that the Stocks app would have a custom URL format, so opening a URL like stocks://AAPL would do the trick. But I haven't found anything documenting such a scheme, and suspect it doesn't exist. Any other ideas, or is it impossible to integrate with the native Stocks app?

  • Updating multiple related tables in SQLite with C#

    Just some background, sorry so long winded. I'm using the System.Data.SQLite ADO.net adapter to create a local sqlite database and this will be the only process hitting the database, so I don't need to worry about concurrency. I'm building the database from various sources and don't want to build this all in memory using datasets or dataadapters or anything like that. I want to do this using SQL (DdCommands). I'm not very good with SQL and complete noob in sqlite. I'm basically using sqlite as a local database / save file structure. The database has a lot of related tables and the data has nothing to do with People or Regions or Districts, but to use a simple analogy, imagine: Region table with auto increment RegionID, RegionName column and various optional columns. District table with auto increment DistrictID, DistrictName, RegionId, and various optional columns Person table with auto increment PersonID, PersonName, DistrictID, and various optional columns So I get some data representing RegionName, DistrictName,PersonName, and other Person related data. The Region, District and/or Person may or may not be created at this point. Once again, not being the greatest with this, my thoughts would be something like: Check to see if Region exists and if so get the RegionID else create it and get RegionID Check to see if District exists and if so get the DistrictID else create it adding in RegionID from above and get DistrictID Check to see if Person exists and if so get the PersonID else create it adding in DistrictID from above and get PersonID Update Person with rest of data. In MS SQL Server I would create a stored procedure to handle all this. Only way I can see to do this with sqlite is a lot of commands. So I'm sure I'm not getting this. I've spent hours looking around on various sites but just don't feel like I'm going down the right road. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello I have written this code to convert string in such format "0(532) 222 22 22" to integer such as 05322222222 . class Phone(): def __init__(self,input): self.phone = input def __str__(self): return self.phone #convert to integer. def to_int(self): return int((self.phone).replace(" ","").replace("(","").replace(")","")) test = Phone("0(532) 222 22 22") print test.to_int() It feels very clumsy to use 3 replace methods to solve this. I am curious if there is a better solution?

    In the control ObjectListView(http://objectlistview.sourceforge.net/html/cookbook.htm), I'm trying to add a custom sorter where it ignores "The" and "A" prefixes. I managed to do it with a regular ListView, but now that I switched to ObjectListView(a lot more features, and ease), I can't seem to do the same.     I'm trying to get MRT working in OpenGL to try out deferred rendering. Here's the situation as I understand it. Create 3 render buffers (for example). Two RGBA8 and one Depth32. Create an FBO. Attach render buffers to FBO. ColorAttachment0/1 for color buffers, DepthAttachment for depth buffer. Bind the FBO. Draw geometry. Send data to different attachments using gl_FragData[] in the frag shader. At this point I would want to take the data in another pass using GLSL, how can a) retrieve data from the framebuffer color attachments, b) get data from the depth component.

  • Mysql latin1 turkish data and delphi 2010 utf8

    Hello, I have tables collating latin1_general_ci and have turkish character values. And i can use this data on delphi 7+zeos with no problem. but i want to upgrade my delphi to 2010 version but zeos too slow as i saw. so i want to use odbc+ado or dbexpress solution. dbexpress solution works fine , display my data as entered and write as entered table without any change to column charset. but dbexpress has problems as i saw. for example when i select * from table which has column types as varchar,decimal,int,tinyint,text give av errors on xp systems. vista and 7 does not give any error and work fine(not fully tested). ado solution(dbgo) works fine but its not show my data as entered.its want everything be utf. but i don't want to convert my data to utf before test everything. how can i see my data as entered and write client side utf and store latin1(as zeos or dbexpress do). i was tried many other options. eg. mysql side collation and charset parameters. sorry for my bad english. i hope someone understand me. thanks.

  • NSOutlineview - strange behavior after reloading data

    I have a NSOutlineView which loads data from a data source. The table is displayed in a panel. The items shown in the table are items which belong to an object (the relation is one-to many between the object and the items). I have a list of objects in a combo box (in fact a NSPopupButton), and when I select another object in the combo box, I want it's items to be shown in the table (the NSOutlineView). I managed to do all this , however when I select another object from the combo box, not all of it's items are displayed. I have put some logging messages in the data source and it seems that there are some items that are being returned from the data source , but are not shown in the table (and are not queried for children). Now the strange part is that when I click the main window (as I said, all that I described here is in a NSPanel loaded on top of the window) , all the data is displayed correctly. It seems as if clicking the main window triggers something in the NSOutlineView that makes it display the missing items, but I can't tell what it is.

  • Custom Annotation not showing all

    Okay, i have a number of pins on the mapkit. These pins showing different types of attractions. (E.g Parks, Farms and etc) I want to add custom images for these different types of pin. Parks have a park image and vice versa. However, when i added in, not all the images are showing successfully. For example, in parks, it should have 5 pins, but the image only came up in 2 pins, whereas other 3 is in default red pins. But if i used colours to differentiate them. For example, [pinsetPinColor:MKPinAnnotationColorGreen]; It works! Anyone knows what is the problem? Relevant codes below.   • jQuery.getScript: data variable in callback undefined

    I'm trying to load an external JavaScript using jQuery's getScript(), like this: $.getScript("http://api.recaptcha.net/js/recaptcha_ajax.js", function(data) { window.alert(data); }); but as the alert window shows, the data variable in the callback function is undefined, unlike promised in http://docs.jquery.com/Ajax/jQuery.getScript#urlcallback.   • Core Data Image Won't Load Into NSTableView Image Cell

    In my code I am storing an image into my Core Data model (works fine). If I set up my view to have an NSImageView and bind its Data to Controller Key: selection and modelKeyPath: myImagePath, it works. It will show each image for the selected row. I then create a new column in my NSTableView and drag an image cell onto the column. However, I cannot get my Core Data bindings to have the image show up in the cell. I have tried binding both value and data, but no luck. Since I am sure the image is stored properly, what am I doing wrong in my binding to prevent the image from showing up in the table cell? Thanks so much. (My background: new Cocoa developer who has recently gone through the entire Hillegass book.)

  • Why do I get "ignoring out-of-zone data" when restarting BIND

    I've been using my own DNS server but then I moved to a third part DNS provider. Yesterday I wanted to go back to using my own DNS's and cancel this third party service. I've lowered TTL in current DNS conf, changed DNS info in GoDaddy for my domain and that's when problems started. My domain seems to be working only for some people but not for others so clearly something is wrong. When restarting bind service named restart everything seems to be OK but later in email from Logwatch I'm getting errors like this: mydomain.com:30: ignoring out-of-zone data (ns1.mydns.com): 3 Time(s) mydomain.info:16: ignoring out-of-zone data (ns1.mydns.com): 5 Time(s) Can anyone point me in the right direction?   • How to include other controls in a scrollbar?

    I want to create a scrollview with a zooming control and a button next to the scrollbar. Sort of like the "tile window" button in XCode (top right corner of the editor), it should be in the same box that usually is used by the scrollbar only. Do you have an idea of how to approach this? I was thinking to use an NSScrollView and set the scrollbars to a custom subclass of NSScroller which includes the other widgets. What kinds of buttons use the same style as the scrollbar?
