  • Python web devlopment framework for python 3.1 user

    I have been learning python for some time now. While starting this "learning python" endeavor I decided to learn the latest and greatest 3.1 version of python. I regret this decision now because I wanted to try my hands on some of the python web development frameworks & it looks like many of them does not support 3.1 yet & it looks like it might take them years to support the new version of Python especially Django and TurboGears. This is really disappointing. Therefore, SO users, do you have any recommendation for a web framework for me that runs on 3.1 and supports some of the modern (I guess I will never learn ;-)) web framework features like MVC/ORM/URL Routing/Caching etc. Many thanks for your response.

  • Large svn external

    I have a project which uses a large library residing in its own repository. Using: Tortoise-SVN, the server is running an enterprise edition of VisualSVN The project itself has the "standard" structure: trunk tags branches In each branch, tag, and trunk is the library, set as an external (svn:external property). If I get the entire tree, I get the library several times, which is just getting too ridiculously repetitive. Is there a recommended structure for this? Or perhaps a way not to get all externals (because other externals are much smaller, easier to manipulate)?

    Hi, I've created a UIView (of type ColumnView) in Interface Builder. Is it possible to add that UIView multiple times to my window? I'm trying to create a UIView template that I can add to my window in a couple of places but can't figure out how to do that. I tried referencing the outlet of that UIView to 2 different IBOutlets but when I add the 2 outlets to my window, it's just treated as a single UIView. Need the UIView to be duplicated. Thanks, Tee

  • Faster two way Boomark/History Sync for Firefox?

    I need a fast automatic two-way bookmark & history sync. Firefox sync seems too slow because I might bookmark/visit a URL then within a few mins put desktop to sleep and leave the house; if it hasn't synced, then I don't have a way of getting it on my laptop (or vice versa). My home upload is only around 200kbps so maybe that's why FF sync seems slow? (I mean it's minutes, not seconds slow). I have read there are a few ways like xmarks/delicious/google but I don't want clutter like extra toolbars or have to visit a site to get bookmarks, they should be as native in the Firefox bookmarks bar as possible, organised in the folders/tags. I know someone must have experimented/know more about this. Thanks.

I have a few ideas in mind as to how to accomplish this, but to avoid polluting the potential answers, I'll leave them out. If you had to design a method of providing alternating templates (and I mean a full data template) for an ItemsControl, how would you accomplish this.

    When doing null checks in Java code, and you throw IllegalArgumentExceptions for null values, what kind of message template do you use? We tend to use something like this public User getUser(String username){ if (username == null){ throw new IllegalArgumentException("username is null"); } // ... } What is better : "is null" or "was null", and why? For me "is null" feels more natural.

  • Python virtualenv conflicting

    I'm trying to learn Django, so I started by reading about virtualenv. After installing it with pip (, I end up with: ... sudo pip install virtualenv) ... virtualenv paths virtualenv at /usr/local/bin/virtualenv and virtualenv-2.7 at /usr/local/bin/virtualenv-2.7 If I use virtualenv-2.7 it seems to work fine, but if I use virtualenv, new modules get added to /usr/local/bin, instead of being inside the environment. Example cd ~ virtualenv v1 source v1/bin/activate easy_install yolk which yolk # /usr/local/bin If I use virtualenv-2-7, yolk gets installed correctly inside v1. Did I mess up the installation? How can I fix this? (maybe uninstall virtualenv and start over). Thanks for any help! Edit: I figured i have two easy_install bins /usr/bin/easy_install-2.7 and /usr/bin/easy_install easy_install --version distribute 0.6.24dev-r0 easy_install-2.7 --version distribute 0.6.24dev-r0 so this may be the cause of problems. More info: python version: 2.7.3 virtualenv version: 1.10.1

  • Finding out if a FLAC or WAVPACK audio file is NOT originally encoded from a lossy source

    Is there a way of checking that the so-called FLAC or WAVPACK audio file was originally encoded from a lossless source (WAV, CDA, APE, etc.) instead of a lossy source (MP3, AAC, ATRAC, etc.)? Say I have a lossy MP3 audio file (5.17Mb, 87% compressed from its original, source unknown). I then encode it to another lossless format, say FLAC or WAVPACK. The size increases (23.14Mb, 39% compressed from its original, source MP3)! ID tags, etc, remain the same and there's no way of checking the integrity of its origin. How do I go about doing that?

    I have some huge xml text files. I need to write a script to find and print a specific tag only. I tried sed and grep but they both return the whole line. Using SunOS 5.x, so not all linux commands may work. grep -o is not available. The 'xml' file is not actually one huge xml document, but each line is a separate xml document, with just a few tags, not even nested. And the structure is fairly easy, so full xml parsers is not needed, and probably would not work. I was looking for sed, awk, or some other one liners, but could not get them to work, and they are both relatively new to me.

  • Java: Read POST data from a socket on an HTTP server

    I have a website (python/django) that needs to use a load of Java resources that may or may not be on the same server. Therefore I am writing a mini webserver in Java that will receive a request and then when processing is finished, POST some data back to a url on the site. I have got the java code receiving connections on sockets and responding with some simple HTML. My problem is that I will POST data to the Java server and that code needs to act on the data. How do I go about reading the data that is posted in the HTML request, if it is even possible. If not, is there any other way you would do this. If you think I am going about this in completely the wrong way then please tell me and I will consider another method, but after conversing with some Java developers, this seemed like the best way for what I was doing.     Hello StackOverflow community, Using Google App Engine, I wrote a keyToSha256() method within a model class (extending db.Model) : class Car(db.Model): def keyToSha256(self): keyhash = hashlib.sha256(str(self.key())).digest() return keyhash When displaying the output (ultimately within a Django template), I get garbled text, for example : ?????_??!`?I?!?;?QeqN??Al?'2 I was expecting something more in line with this : 9f86d081884c7d659a2feaa0c55ad015a3bf4f1b2b0b822cd15d6c15b0f00a08 Am I missing something important ? Despite reading several guides on ASCII, Unicode, utf-8 and the like, I think I'm still far from mastering the secrets of string encoding/decoding. After browsing StackOverflow and searching for insights via Google, I figured out I should ask the question here. Any idea ? Thanks !

When I try to run the Unit Tests that are included in the unit test project that is included in the template I get the following failure on the first test: The test adapter 'VsIdeHostAdapter' threw an exception while running test 'MenuItemCallback'. Call was rejected by callee. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010001 (RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED)) It's intermittent- a new instance of Visual Studio always spins up, then sometimes it works but usually fails.

  • Conditionally create symbolic link by filesize using find exec ubuntu 10.04

    I have an interesting problem. I'm trying to create symbolic links in a single folder, for all files in a directory which are larger than a specified size. For clarification, here is an example: /Files /Large_Files /LargeFile1_symlink /LargeFile2_symlink /Folder1 /file_a /file_b /Folder2 /LargeFile1 /Folder3 /LargeFile2 /file_c What I have so far to try to accomplish this is: find -size +102400 -exec ln -s $PWD/{} Large_Files/ \; However, this find produces ./LargeFile1 So my symlink command produces ln -s /Files/Folder2/./LargeFile1 Large_Files/ My question is, would it be possible to use the basename command to separate out only the filename so this command will work? Or does anybody have a suggestion on how to do this without writing a script, or give me an example on writing a script? I've never done scripting before, but I do know Java, but don't want to take the time to do all this in Java. Thank you for any help! Edit: adding tags

Wnen i create new SL project and choose ASP.NET Web Site web project type all is ok, at my browser I see default template. But when I choose ASP.NET Web application, at running I get blank browser screen with js error: "Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application Code: 2104 Category: InitializeError Message: Could not download the Silverlight application.
