• Creating a new Active Directory account with an InfoPath form

  I am setting up a business partner portal in our Sharepoint server. There will be an AD group with permissions limited to viewing and possibly contributing to the specific business partner site and employees of our business partners will have accounts created for them as needed. Now we would like to let our business development group(BDG) have control over the partner accounts. Ideally they should be able to add and delete accounts and change permissions on them. The BDG are not domain admins so we don't want to give them access to the domain controller. We want to create an Infopath form that will allow them to do all this. Is it possible to create and manage AD accounts from within an Infopath form on the sharepoint server? I searched this site and MSDN and can not find anything specifically related to my question.

• Can't launch asp.net mvc 2 application from iis 7.5

  Hello. I'm trying to launch my mvc 2 application from iis 7.5 and get HTTP 403.14 - Forbidden error. That's what I did: 1. Went to add or remove windows fitures checked iis, asp.net, http redirect. Installed all this stuff. 2. Launched Visual studio 2010 (release), created standart mvc 2 project and published it in default web site/ApplicationName 3. Set default DefaultAppPool .Net version to 4.0. I'm the only user of the computer and have admin rights. What might be wrong? Thank you for your help.

• How to setup GoDaddy dns forwarding

  I have a VPS in England and a hosting account with hostgator. I use GoDaddy to manage my domain name settings. My VPS is mainly used for mail and certain other services. The actual site is hosted at hostgator I had a cname called "www" which would point to mydomain.com, at hostgator All the rest would point to my vps. (The "A" host, @) Now Hostgator lost my original domain name, so pointing to that leads to a fake website. But you can't just make www point to an ip adres. No. I tried adding an "A" host which would point to the hostgator ip-adres and then I would point the "www" cname to that "A" host. But that does not work. Can anyone shed some light on this?

• WCF Named Pipe IPC

  I have been trying to get up to speed on Named Pipes this week. The task I am trying to solve with them is that I have an existing windows service that is acting as a device driver that funnels data from an external device into a database. Now I have to modify this service and add an optional user front end (on the same machine, using a form of IPC) that can monitor the data as it passes between the device and the DB as well as send some commands back to the service. My initial ideas for the IPC were either named pipes or memory mapped files. So far I have been working through the named pipe idea using WCF Tutorial Basic Interprocess Communication . My idea is to set the Windows service up with an additional thread that implements the WCF NamedPipe Service and use that as a conduit to the internals of my driver. I have the sample code working, however I can not get my head around 2 issues that I am hoping that someone here can help me with: In the tutorial the ServiceHost is instantiated with a typeof(StringReverser) rather than by referencing a concrete class. Thus there seems to be no mechanism for the Server to interact with the service itself (between the host.Open() and host.Close() lines). Is it possible to create a link between and pass information between the server and the class that actually implements the service? If so, how? If I run a single instance of the server and then run multiple instance of the clients, it seems that each client gets a separate instance of the service class. I tried adding some state information to the class implementing the service and it was only retained within the instance of the named pipe. This is possibly related to the first question, but is there anyway to force the named pipes to use the same instance of the class that is implementing the service? Finally, any thoughts on MMF vs Named Pipes? Thanks for you help

This must be a common problem, and I know for a fact it works in theory (see links below), but I have failed to get it working, and I haven't been able to find a code sample that demonstrates it. Requirements: WCF Clients connects to server through tcp port 80 (netTcpBinding). Server pushes back information at irregular intervals (1 min to several hours). Users should not have to configure their firewalls, server pushes must pass through firewalls that have all inbound ports closed. TCP duplex on the same connection is needed for this, a dual binding does not work since a port has to be opened on the client firewall. Clients sends heartbeats to server at regular intervals (perhaps every 15 mins) so server knows client is still alive. Server is IIS7 with WAS. The solution seems to be duplex netTcpBinding. Based on this information: WCF through firewalls and NATs Keeping connections open in IIS But I have yet to find a code sample that works.. I've tried combining the "Duplex" and "TcpActivation" samples from Microsoft's WCF Samples without any luck. Please can someone point me to example code that works, or build a small sample app. Thanks a lot!

• Correct configuration of a reverse Proxy with IIS 6.0 and IIRF for Hudson

  I have an Hudson build working on IIS 6.0 with reverse proxy (IIRF). In general it works but 2 errors are displayed in Hudson in the main configuration page called "Manage Hudson" (only if I connect through the reverse proxy): Your container doesn't use UTF-8 to decode URLs. If you use non-ASCII characters as a job name etc, this will cause problems. See Containers and Tomcat i18n for more details.   ServerFault Community, It seems there are two positions SysAdmins find themselves in, either you are working for a non-IT services based single client (your employer) and providing in-house IT support or you work for a company who provides out sourced IT services to multiple clients. Right now I work for a company who does the latter, and I often consider how nice it would be doing the in-house side of things, to just have one network I am focused on and instead of feeling like I have a dozen bosses between clients and internal management, I would just have one set of management and people to appease. There is also the technical aspect of every client wanting something different, and having to manage numerous different technology platforms, or trying to force clients into using the technologies we prefer, neither situation is enjoyable. Is this just "the grass is greener on the other side" syndrome, or is there some legitimacy to the the stress of client based IT work compared to being an in-house IT guy? Thanks!

  I know Windows XP and previous had an rsm.exe file in the <root>\windows\system32 folder that could be used to manage media. I used this command in batch files and from the command line to eject external disks (iPod, CF cardreader, etc.). This utility appears not to be included in Windows 7, and I wonder if there is some replacement utility that will allow the same thing. I've been unable to find any such thing. I'm aware of the 3rd party utilities; this question is only about what is included with Windows 7.

  Setup I have multiple links on a page with the class location_link Each Links rel attribute is equal to a city state combo (i.e.,Omaha, NE) Once the page is loaded, a JavaScript function loops through all of the location_link items and binds a click event to them using jQuery. This click event fires a call to the Fancybox constructor that is supposed to show a Google Map of the location that link is associated with The Problem: Whenever I click on one of the "location links", I get the following error message: The requested content cannot be loaded. • Drools flow architecture, Drools flow events with AND join nodes

  I have been evaluating a number of frameworks including jBPM and Drools flow for my application requirements. Lots of the opinions seem to be inclined towards Drools flow as its more flexible, knowledge oriented, easier to integrate with business rules, etc.. The application is some sort of an Email Campaign manager , where different customers can sign in, prepare (design) and launch email campaigns. The application should be able to do the following : 1- Receive a list of email addresses, send emails to each of these addresses starting from a certain date and during a certain time interval of the day , do some custom actions, and then wait for reply emails. 2- If a reply email is received and depending on the response text of the email , and depending on the time the email was received certain actions need to happen, web service calls need to take place, and error handling for these calls. 3- The application will manage and run many and different campaigns (different customers and different flows for each customer) at any point of time. The first question is : Is Drools flow the way to go about this? My main concerns are scalability, suspending, resuming flows, and long wait, and flows management. As you see from the requirements : There is a scheduling part : Certain flows need to be run at a certain point in time, they need to get suspended and then resumed. For example start sending emails starting on Dec 1st 2010 and send emails only in the time interval between 08:00 and 17:00 GMT. By then it might be that all subscribers have been sent emails, but it might not be the case, the process needs to (resume) on Dec 2nd and send a second batch, however certain (users) already received emails and they should be able to (continue at different stages of the flow) There are long wait states : Days or even weeks , i need to persist, suspend / resume and terminate flows (manage flows) External Events : This is where i got stuck first, i tried to put together a simple flow (see attached screenshot) See image http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9620/workflowwithevents.png , there is a start node , connected to an action node, connected to a join. An event node is connected to a second action node, which is connected to the join. The join is an AND join , after the join there is an action and the end node. The flow does not continue past the AND join and the flow seems to get stuck. The action following the node does not get triggered. I also went through the drools flow documentation , and all the example codes, however i didn't find anything there. In addition any hints about the way to go about architecting the solution, and implementing it would be great.

• Webservice Connection Refused

  I have developed a web app using a webservice. Everything works fine in the development environment. I have moved the webservice to the production server in a test folder behind my main website. I can browse to the published service localy on the production server and i can access the remote service from my development machine. If I run my web app in my development environment I can use the remote webservice no problem. If I move the web application to the production environment the browser outputs this error when the application performs the ajax login method. • Bridging with aliased Ethernet card for Virtualizing with single Ethernet card

  We are having a server with good CPU and RAM,so we are planning to do XEN virtualization on ubuntu 12.04 server to handle high traffic. The plan is to keep the host machine only to manage VMs(no NAT ing). A New public IP will be assigned to that VM,For that i think we need a Bridge to external network(Since my Machine has only single ethernet card aliased with 4 different Pub IP's) Is it possible to create a bridge using aliased IP single ethernet card aliased to 4 pub IPs Do we need an additional Ethernet card to do Bridging.Only have ssh access to the machine. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

• Should I be afraid of Linux server administration?

  I've been trying to figure out what to focus on. I finally realized that the root of my quandary is that I am unsure about learning Linux server administration. I have been getting pretty good with PHP/MySQL and web development, but I am not very familiar with Linux. Is it hard to learn? What would I need to know in order to manage a LAMP stack? Also, which version is most used in enterprises? I think I have also hesitated to dive in because it seems like it is mostly used in small companies, but I guess that could be a good thing.

  If i want to show userLocation on the map, and at the same time record the user's location, is it a good idea to add an observer to userLocation.location and record the locations, OR should i still use CLLocationManager for recording user location and use mapView.showUserLocation to show the user's current location (blue indicator)? I want to show the default blue indicator supported by the MapKit API. • sharepoint 2007 access denied when accessing user profiles via ssp

  Guys I have a really strange problem in regards to sharepoint mysites today I go into user profiles and properties in order to setup a property all of a sudden I get access denied. First off I know that I'm logged in with the correct account after the access denied I decided to click on personalization services and permissions I than get An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: Cannot complete this action. I'm not seeing anything in the server application logs either. So have any of you guys seen this before is there some kind of way to grant a user account the manage profiles right permission using stsadm. BTW all other fucntions of the ssp are working fine so my question is if the user profiles and my sites of a ssp tanks how do you repair that portion of the ssp? BTW the user accounts that I'm using are site collection owners and also they have full control at the web application level. • Canon LiDE 600F FAU on Snow Leopard?

  Hello, I have been able to use my Canon LiDE 600F scanner under Snow Leopard to scan paper sheet, after installing Canon's latest driver software. However, I cannot find a way to make the FAU (Film Adaptor Unit) to work: Canon's software want to calibrate it first and gives an error message "Calibration cannot be performed. Pull out the film. 182.0.0". (of course there is no film). Hamrick's VueScan doesn't seem to support the FAU Apple's Image Capture doesn't propose a film option either Did I miss something? Did somebody manage to scan film (positive or negative) using the LiDE 600F under Snow Leopard? Many thanks

  I manage a small network with a Cisco ASA 5505 and a shared DSL connection. I would like to be able monitor the bandwidth usage of the various users/devices on my network (by IP). Can I do that using the ASA? Has anyone got this working? What is the best way to do this? Some Ideas I Have Seen Online: SNMP with a tool like Cacti Does this give per IP usage with an ASA or just overall usage? Netflow with a tool like ntop Couldn't get this to work. It seems that the Netflows sent by ASA are not exactly standard. Ntop receives them, but doesn't seem to know what do with them.

  This .NET API works OK if I'm trying to open the Registry in a machine that's in the same domain as I am (and my logged-on user has admin rights on the target machine). It gets tricky if it's an out-of-domain machine with a different, local administrative user (of whom I do have the password). I tried to use WNetUseConnection() (which has served me well in the past in situations where what I wanted was to read a remote disk file) prior to calling OpenRemoteBaseKey(), but no dice -- I get an access denied exception. Clearly, I must pass credentials some other way, but how?

  I am writing a custom server for a client. They want scalability so I must use a thread pool and probably I/O completion port to regulate it. The main requirement is that a windows service manage the HTTP requests for a number of reasons. An example of one would be that a client session spans many requests and continuity must be maintained. Another would be that the ISAPI Dll will be in the IIS address space and so it's code will be lean and very carefully implemented. The extensive processing in the Windows service may get unruly for the duration of the lengthy development. If the service crashes it will not take out IIS. Anyway, the remaining decision is how to have these two processes communicate. We have talked about pipes, tcp, global memory and even a single pipe with multiplexed data ala FastCGI. Would love to hear anyones experience with a decision like this.

  I'm configuring a Linux proxy with Squid and SquidGuard to filter Internet traffic. I know how to authenticate users against Active Directory in Squid, and then how to filter access for users using SquidGuard. The question: how to use Active Directory groups in SquidGuard instead of plain user names? My goal is to be able to configure rules like "members of this group can go anywhere" or "members of this group can only visit certain sites". I know SquidGuard can't manage group membership directly, but it can do LDAP searches on its own; but the syntax to look up wheter a user is member of a given group seems to be quite cryptic, and I couldn't find any good documentation around.

• Git - post-receive hook with git pull "Failed to find a valid git directory"

  It's very weird but when setting a git repository and creating a post-receive hook with: echo "--initializing hook--" cd ~/websites/testing echo "--prepare update--" git pull echo "--update completed--" the hook runs indeed, but it never manage to run git pull properly: 6bfa32c..71c3d2a master -> master --initializing hook-- --prepare update-- fatal: Not a git repository: '.' Failed to find a valid git directory. --update completed-- so I'm asking myself now, how it's possible to make the hook update the clone with post-receive? in this case the user running the processes is the same, and its everything inside the user folder so I really don't understand...because if if I go manually into cd ~/websites/testing git pull it works without any problem... any help on that would be pretty much appreciated Thanks a lot
