• Shutting down a WPF application from App.xaml.cs

  I am currently writing a WPF application which does command-line argument handling in App.xaml.cs (which is necessary because the Startup event seems to be the recommended way of getting at those arguments). Based on the arguments I want to exit the program at that point already which, as far as I know, should be done in WPF with Application.Current.Shutdown() or in this case (as I am in the current application object) probably also just this.Shutdown(). The only problem is that this doesn't seem to work right. I've stepped through with the debugger and code after the Shutdown() line still gets executed which leads to errors afterwards in the method, since I expected the application not to live that long. Also the main window (declared in the StartupUri attribute in XAML) still gets loaded. I've checked the documentation of that method and found nothing in the remarks that tell me that I shouldn't use it during Application.Startup or Application at all. So, what is the right way to exit the program at that point, i. e. the Startup event handler in an Application object?

• Tripple-wrapping fails: \colorbox ? \NewEnviron ? \newenvironment fails

  Hello! I am trying to wrap an environment created with \NewEnviron (package 'environ') into an old good \newenvironment: \NewEnviron{test}{\colorbox[gray]{0.7}{\BODY}} \newenvironment{wrapper}{\begin{test}}{\end{test}} \begin{wrapper} debug me \end{wrapper} However, this gives me a strange error: LaTeX Error: \begin{test} on input line 15 ended by \end{wrapper}. LaTeX Error: \begin{wrapper} on input line 15 ended by \end{document}. If I replace \NewEnviron{test}{aaa(\BODY)bbb} with \newenvironment{test}{aaa(}{)bbb} — everything works as expected! It seems like \NewEnviron fails to find its end for some reason. I'm trying to do some magic with 'floatfig' wrapped into a \colorbox so I need a way to convert \colorbox to an environment and wrap it into another one. I can define a new command but it's not a very good idea. Thanks in advance!

• Dynamic mass hosting using mod_wsgi

  Hi, I am trying to configure an apache server using mod_wsgi for dynamic mass hosting. Each user will have it's own instance of a python application located in /mnt/data/www/domains/[user_name] and there will be a vhost.map telling me which domain maps to each user's directory (the directory will have the same name as the user). What i do not know is how to write the WSGIScriptAliasMatch line so that it also takes the path from the vhost.map file. What i want to do is something like this: I can have on my server different domains like www.virgilbalibanu.com or virgil.balibanu.com and flaviu.balibanu.com where each domain would belog to another user, the user name having no neccesary connection to the domain name. • Use a grepped file as an included source in bash

  I'm on a shared webhost where I don't have permission to edit the global bash configuration file at /ect/bashrc. Unfortunately there is one line in the global file, mesg y, which puts the terminal in tty mode and makes scp and similar commands unavailable. My local ~./bashrc includes the global file as a source, like so: # Source global definitions if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then . /etc/bashrc fi My current workaround uses grep to output the global file, sans offending line, into a local file and use that as a source. # Source global definitions if [ -f /etc/bashrc ]; then grep -v mesg /etc/bashrc > ~/.bash_global . ~/.bash_global fi Is there a way to do include a grepped file like this without the intermediate step of creating an actual file? • Debugging IDAPython Scripts outside of IDAPro

  I'm kinda new to scripting for IDA - nevertheless, I've written a complex script I need to debug, as it is not working properly. It is composed of a few different files containing a few different classes. Writing line-by-line in the commandline is not effective for obvious reasons. Running a whole script from the File doesn't allow debugging. Is there a way of using the idc, idautils, idaapi not from within IDA? I've written the script on PyDev for Eclipse, I'm hoping for a way to run the scripts from within it. A similar question is, can the api classes I have mentioned work on idb files without IDA having them loaded? Thanks.

  Hi, I found this answer about external configuration files. I'm trying to do a similar thing. I have a small webapplication called StatsGen I want to include in other projects, and for convenience I'd like to have the settings inside the bin folder, in a config file with an appropriate name, in my case: StatsGen.config. So I've put these line in the web.config (as explained in the answer I mentioned above): <configSections> <section name="StatsGenSettings" restartOnExternalChanges="true" type="System.Configuration.NameValueFileSectionHandler" /> <!--sectionGroups--> </configSections> <StatsGenSettings configSource="StatsGen.config"></StatsGenSettings> <!--and here comes the rest... appSettings etc.--> Inside the bin folder, I created a StatsGen.xml file, then renamed it to StatsGen.config.   I am using Dynamics CRM 2013. How does one apply the rich text editor styling seen on the description field on the email form to other multiple line text fields? Viewing the source code it is obvious that the system is treating the rich text field very differently from the normal multiple line text fields in that instead of rendering a textarea it is rendering a table with an embedded iframe. In CRM 2011, I have used extensions that wrap up the TinyMCE editor but they were never very effective. It seems odd that I can't just check a box to do this to any text field in the settings when the behaviour is obviously built in. Thanks in advance. Richard.

• In Applescript, why do local variables in handlers capture "with" labeled parameters?

  In Applescript, if you declare a handler using "with" labeled parameters, local variables get the values of the arguments and the parameters themselves are undefined. For example: on bam of thing with frst and scnd local eat_frst return {thing: thing, frst:frst, scnd:scnd} -- this line throws an error end bam bam of "bug-AWWK!" with frst without scnd results in an error message that "scnd" isn't defined in the second line of bam. thing and frst are both defined, getting the arguments passed in the call to bam. Why is this happening? Why is scnd undefined? Note: I know that declaring variables as "local" within a handler is unnecessary. It's done in the examples for illustrative purposes.

• Where does C# and the .NET Framework fail?

  In my non-programming life, I always attempt to use the approprite tool for the job, and I feel that I do the same in my programming life, but I find that I am choosing C# and .NET for almost everything. I'm finding it hard to come up with (realistic business) needs that cannot be met by .NET and C#. Obviously embedded systems might require something less bloated than the .NET Micro Framework, but I'm really looking for line of business type situations where .NET is not the best tool. I'm primarly a C# and .NET guy since its what I'm the most comfertable in, but I know a fair amount of C++, php, VB, powershell, batch files, and Java, as well as being versed in the web technologes (javascript, html/css). But I'm open minded about it my skill set and I'm looking for cases where C# and .NET are not the right tool for the job. The bottom line here, is that I feel that I'm choosing C# and .NET simply because I am very comfertable with it, so I'm looking for cases where you have chosen something other than .NET, even though you are primarly a .NET developer.

• How do I launch a subprocess in C# with an argv? (Or convert agrv to a legal arg string)

  I have a C# command-line application that I need to run in windows and under mono in unix. At some point I want to launch a subprocess given a set of arbitrary paramaters passed in via the command line. For instance: Usage: mycommandline [-args] -- [arbitrary program] Unfortunately, System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo only takes a string for args. This is a problem for commands such as: ./my_commandline myarg1 myarg2 -- grep "a b c" foo.txt In this case argv looks like : argv = {"my_commandline", "myarg1", "myarg2", "--", "grep", "a b c", "foo.txt"} Note that the quotes around "a b c" are stripped by the shell so if I simply concatenate the arguments in order to create the arg string for ProcessStartInfo I get: args = "my_commandline myarg1 myarg2 -- grep a b c foo.txt" Which is not what I want. Is there a simple way to either pass an argv to subprocess launch under C# OR to convert an arbitrary argv into a string which is legal for windows and linux shell? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Multiline for WPF TextBox

  I am developing a app for sending some feedback. Basically i'm trying to make a TextBox for comments, but i'm used to the WinForms MultiLine=true. I've set MinLines to 3, which is getting there, but preferably i'd like if user is able to type wherever in this block, like press enter and do dot points sort of thing - like: - Item 1 blah - Item 2 blahlb lahbvl d But at the moment the text all stays on one line. - Item 1 blah - Item 2 blahb blahb blah This comments will then help fill the body of an email which is sent. It may be pointless if I can't easily keep the same formatting when putting this string into the email body string (so that it looks like it does when sent as it does when typed). Can I achieve what I'm after or do I have to leave it as all text on one line?

  assuming I running Scala 2.8.0 RC1, the following scala code should print out the content of the file "c:/hello.txt" for ( line<-Source.fromPath( "c:/hello.txt" ).getLines ) println( line ) However, when I run it, I get the following error <console>:10: error: missing arguments for method getLines in class Source; follow this method with `_' if you want to treat it as a partially applied function Error occured in an application involving default arguments. val it = Source.fromPath("c:/hello.scala").getLines From what I understand, Scala should use the default argument "compat.Platform.EOL" for "getLines". I am wondering if I did wrong or is it a bug in scala 2.8 Thanks

• Importing a large delimited file to a MySQL table

  I have this large (and oddly formatted txt file) from the USDA's website. It is the NUT_DATA.txt file. But the problem is that it is almost 27mb! I was successful in importing the a few other smaller files, but my method was using file_get_contents which it makes sense why an error would be thrown if I try to snag 27+ mb of RAM. So how can I import this massive file to my MySQL DB without running into a timeout and RAM issue? I've tried just getting one line at a time from the file, but this ran into timeout issue. Using PHP 5.2.0. Here is the old script (the fields in the DB are just numbers because I could not figure out what number represented what nutrient, I found this data very poorly document. • Is VGA port hot-pluggable?

  In meetings, I often see people detaching the VGA connector from one running laptop and connecting it to another, while the projector is still on. Is this 100% risk free, and OK by design of the VGA standard? If there's a risk involved in hot-plugging VGA, can it be removed by turning off or suspending either laptop, display, or both? I see this being done all the time without causing disaster, so clearly I'm not interested in answers stating "we do it all the time, so it should be OK!". I want to know if there's a risk - real or in theory - that something breaks when doing this. EDIT: I did an internet search on the topic, and I never found a clear statement as to why it is safe or unsafe to hot swap VGA devices. The typical form is a forum question asking basically the same question as I did, and the following types of statements Yes it's hot swappable! I do it all the time! It involves some kind of risk, so don't do it! You're some kind of moron if you think there's a risk, so just do it! But no explanation as to why it safe or not... Joe Taylors answer below contains a link to a forum post and answers that basically give me the same statements as mentioned above. But again, no good explanation why. So I looked for an actual manual for a projector, and found "Lenovo C500 Projector User’s Guide". It states on page 3-1: Connecting devices Computers and video devices can be connected to the projector at the same time. Check the user’s manual of the connecting device to confirm that it has the appropriate output connector. [image] Attention: As a safety precaution, disconnect all power to the projector and devices before making connections. But again, no good explanation.

• Adventures in Drupal multisite config with mod_rewrite and clean urls

  The university where I work is planning to offer Drupal hosting to staff/faculty who want a Drupal site. We've set up Drupal multisite with clean urls and it's mostly working except for some weird redirects. If you have two sites where one is a substring of the other then you'll randomly be redirected to the other site. I tracked the problem to how mod_rewrite does path matching, so with a config file like this: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/drupal RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /drupal/index.php?q=$1 [last,qsappend] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/drupaltest RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /drupaltest/index.php?q=$1 [last,qsappend] /drupaltest will match the /drupal line and all of the links on the /drupaltest page will be rewritten to point to /drupal. If you put the end of string character ($) at the end of each rewrite condition then it will always match on the correct site and the links will always be rewritten correctly. That breaks down as soon as a user logs in though because the query string is appended to the url so just the base url will no longer match. You can also fix the problem by ordering the sites in the config file so that the smallest substring will always be last. I suggested storing all of the sites in a table and then querying, sorting, and rewriting the config file every time a Drupal site is requested so that we could guarantee the order. The system administrator thought that was kludgy and didn't address the root problem. Disabling clean urls should also fix the problem but the users really want them so I'd prefer to keep them if possible. I think we could also fix it by using an .htaccess file in each site to handle the clean url rewriting but that also seems suboptimal since it will generate a higher load on the server and the server is intended to host the majority of the university's external facing web content. Is there some magic I can do with mod_rewrite to get it to work? Would another solution be better? Am I doing something the wrong way to begin with?

• Form.ShowDialog() does not show form.

  I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

• ImportError and Django driving me crazy

  OK, I have the following directory structure (it's a django project): - project -- app and within the app folder, there is a scraper.py file which needs to reference a class defined within models.py I'm trying to do the following: import urllib2 import os import sys import time import datetime import re import BeautifulSoup sys.path.append('/home/userspace/Development/') os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'project.settings' from project.app.models import ClassName and this code just isn't working. I get an error of: Traceback (most recent call last): File "scraper.py", line 14, in from project.app.models import ClassName ImportError: No module named project.app.models This code above used to work, but broke somewhere along the line and I'm extremely confused as to why I'm having problems. On SnowLeopard using python2.5.

• Can't get InputStream read to block...

  I would like the input stream read to block instead of reading end of stream (-1). Is there a way to configure the stream to do this? I'm trying to keep the I/O streams on either side alive. I want the servlet to wait for input, process the input, then send back a response.
