• Android Layout Preview for NetBeans IDE

  More often than not, the reason that Eclipse has more plugins than NetBeans IDE is because Eclipse has far less features out of the box. For example, thanks to its out of the box support, NetBeans IDE doesn't need a Maven plugin and it doesn't need a Java EE plugin, which are two of the most popular plugins for Eclipse. However, what would be great for NetBeans IDE to have is support for Android. It's existed for a while, thanks to the community-driven NBAndroid project, but without much desired GUI functionality. • How can I play AMR files in Firefox on Ubuntu?

  I use Evernote to keep voice and text notes. Unfortunately, I've just discovered that I can't take full advantage of the cloud storage capabilities of Evernote, because support for Android's native sound file format, AMR, is deficient in Ubuntu. When I view my voice notes in Firefox in Ubuntu, I get a "missing plugin" error. The problem is discussed on the Evernote forums, but the solutions offered there are really lacking. They all involve saving and converting files, which seems like an unreasonable amount of fiddling. Surely an AMR file is just a sound file, and surely Ubuntu could (and should) have a way of playing it? There is some suggestion that Media Player can play AMR format, and I thought there was a Media Player plugin for Firefox. But I can not find any specifics. How can I get Ubuntu to play AMR file directly in Firefox in Ubuntu?

• Converting kernel image from ELF to PE

  I am using Msys to build a home brew kernel that I wrote under Linux. Linux used ELF for its binary format and Msys uses PE. I have the source setup to allow it to be booted by Grub using the Multiboot spec. At the end of the build, I get some undefined symbols: init.o:init.S:(.text+0x14): undefined reference to `edata' main.o:main.c:(.text+0x121): undefined reference to `_alloca' main.o:main.c:(.text+0x126): undefined reference to `__main' ../../lib\libkern.a(mem.o):mem.c:(.text+0x242): undefined reference to `_end' ../../lib\libkern.a(mem.o):mem.c:(.text+0x323): undefined reference to `_end' These appear to be ELF oriented symbols. If anyone can advise me on how these should be dealt with in the PE world, e.g. if there are equivalents, it would help me out a lot!

It will react same for future version as 2012, 2013. Now see your VS react look dark. Everything is dark now. Your Firefox and IE will not run totally in blackish mode but you can use chrome. Chrome have less effect of dark. Now if you benchmark it then you will feel that everything that take a long time in loading now run fast.   Note :- This is experiments.   In NetBeans IDE 7.2, JaCoCo is supported natively, i.e., out of the box, as a code coverage engine for Maven projects, since Cobertura does not work with JDK 7 language constructs. (Although, note that Cobertura is supported as well in NetBeans IDE 7.2.) It isn't part of NetBeans IDE 7.2 Beta, so don't even try there; you need some development build from after that. I downloaded the latest development build today. To enable JaCoCo features in NetBeans IDE, you need do no different to what you'd do when enabling JaCoCo in Maven itself, which is rather wonderful.   I have the following code txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph \n This is second paragraph"); then TextBlock would display: This is first paragraph This is second paragraph But, if I have the following (which I though is equivalent); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("\n"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is second paragraph"); TextBlock display: This is first paragraph // but second paragraph missing If I separate out the linebreak then the rest of text after the linebreak doesn't show. Why? I have to use run: Run run1 = new Run(); run1.Text = "First Paragraph"; run1.Text += "\n"; run1.Text += "Second Paragraph"; txtBlock1.Inlines.Add(run1); Then it produce the result correctly. Why I cannot add inline text to Textblock and require me to use Run?

• OUYA and Unity set up problems

  I'm having trouble with the Unity / OUYA plugin. I'm using Unity 4 with the latest update on a Windows 7 machine. When I open the starter kit and try to compile the plugin I get the following error: Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M And if I try to Build and Run I get this error: Error building Player: ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path. I'm stumped, I've gone through lots of forum posts here and on stackoverflow and I can't seem to resolve it. My environment variables look like this: PATH - C:\Users\dave\Documents\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219\sdk\tools; C:\Users\dave\Documents\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219\sdk\platform-tools\ JAVA_HOME - C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\ Everything in the OUYA Panel is white Any ideas?

• Is anyone doing "real" TDD with Visual-C++, and if yes, how do they do it?

  Test Driven Development implies writing the test before the code and following a certain cycle: Write Test Check Test (run) Write Production Code Check Test (run) Clean up Production Code Check test (run) As far as I'm concerned, this is only possible if your development solution allows you to very quickly switch between the production and test code, and to execute the test for a certain production code part extremely quickly. Now, while there exist lots of Unit Testing Frameworks for C++ (I'm using Bost.Test atm.) it does seem that there doesn't really exist any decent (for native C++) Visual Studio (Plugin) solution that makes the TDD cycle bearable regardless of framework used. "Bearable" means that it's a one-click action to run a test for a certain cpp file without having to manually set up a separate testing project etc. "Bearable" also means that a simple test starts (linking!) and runs very quickly. So, what tools (plugins) and techniques are out there that make the TDD cycle possible for native C++ development with Visual Studio? Note: I'm fine with free or "commercial" tools. Please: No framework recommendations. (Unless the framework has a dedicated Visual Studio plugin and you want to recommend the plugin.) Edit Note: The answers so far have provided links on how to integrate a Unit Testing framework into Visual Studio. The resources more or less describe how to get the UT framework to compile and get your first Tests running. This is not what this question is about. I'm of the opinion that to really work productively, having the Unit Tests in a manually maintained(!), separate vcproj from your production classes will add so much overhead that TDD "isn't possible". As far as I am aware, you do not add extra "projects" to a Java or C# thing to enable Unit Tests and TDD, and for a good reason. This should be possible with C++ given the right tools, but it seems (this question is about) that there are very little tools for TDD/C++/VS. Googling around, I've found one tool, VisualAssert, that seems to aim in the right direction. However, afaiks, it doesn't seem to be in widespread use (compared to CppUnit, Boost.Test etc.). Edit: I would like to add a comment to the context for this question. I think it does a good summary of outlining (part of) the problem: (comment by Billy ONeal) Visual Studio does not use "build scripts" that are reasonably editable by the user. One project produces one binary. Moreover, Java has the property that Java never builds a complete binary -- the binary you build is just a ZIP of the class files. Therefore it's possible to compile separately then JAR together manually (using e.g. 7z). C++ and C# both actually link their binaries, so generally speaking you can't write a script like that. The closest you can get is to compile everything separately and then do two linkings (one for production, one for testing).

• Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it?   Hi Folks, I have a problem in an iPhone application. Application has a table view controller with custom table view cells. Each cell has a Label (please correct me if I need to use text view etc). I am getting text dynamically from a web service call and I don't know how long text gonna be. Now problem is that I want to adjust the table view cell height based on text I receive. How can I grow Label or TextView height withinin table view cell so it can contain all the text and in effect grow table view cell height. Does anyone know how to handle this kind of design problem? • Why can I not add a set accessor to an overriden property?

  In a base class I have this property: public virtual string Text { get { return text; } } I want to override that and return a different text, but I would also like to be able to set the text, so I did this: public override string Text { get { return differentText; } set { differentText = value; } } This however does not work. I get a red squiggly under set saying that I can not override because it does not have a set accessor. Why is this aproblem? What should I do?

• Add a Carriage Return to the Output of an XSL Transformation

  I am trying to use XSLT to convert an XML document to a text file and the text of the document looks fine. However, I need to add a carriage return after the end of each line (NOT A CRLF) and I seem to be failing in every attempt. I have tried adding just a CR at the end of the line like this: <xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text> I have tried changing my media-type to string, I have tried to add the disable-output-escaping attribute to the text element, but it always adds a CRLF. This is on a Windows OS and I know that Windows uses CRLF for a new line, but I would have thought you could override that if you said to specifically use only the CR or the LF (e.g. VB.net's VBCR or VBLF). Does anyone know if it is possible to only output a CR with XSLT? Thanks in advance.

  I migrated my WordPress blog to a new server, and everything seemed to be working fine until it started giving me the error when entering the admin area: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4864 bytes) in /home/neworder/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php on line 729 The line 729 has: $protected = array( '_wp_attached_file', '_wp_attachment_metadata', '_wp_old_slug', '_wp_page_template' ); I had installed the maintenance-mode, and I have suspicions that this is what broke the forum. If I remove the plugin it then gives another error: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /home/neworder/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 1158 And that line has: $content .= '<p class="hide-if-no-js">' . esc_html__( 'Remove featured image' ) . '</p>'; } I tried to restore the blog file-system from the old server and also to restore the database from the old server (2x), but still it gives me the same error.
