• iOS 5 Audio Alarms Don't Sound Without kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideCategoryMixWithOthers On

  I have an audio app that is having some problems with the way iOS 5 has changed audio behaviors. When my app's audio is playing (AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback), and a Clock.app alarm or timer is fired from the OS, the UIAlertView notification pops up, but without the audio alert. My application sound ducks fine to get out of the way of the audio alert, but the alarm app's audio alert does not sound. Naturally, tons of support requests poured in over the iOS 5 change. I have solved this temporarily by setting kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideCategoryMixWithOthers which lets the alarm audio come through, but there are a few very undesirable side-effects when doing this: Other app's audio can play with/over mine. The remote control events are not routed to my app, but to iPod.app. None of the above drawbacks are acceptable for my app's requirements. I have been hacking away at this for some time now but haven't been able to crack it. How can I setup my audio such that: My app's audio still uses the AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback category for background audio. The Clock.app alarms still have their audio alerts make sound The app still responds to remote control notifications

• simple float issue on wordpress blog

  I am modifying a wordpress theme completely, and have run into one very simple problem. Please look at my page here: wordpress blog When you scroll down, you can see the one blank area under the first post. For some reason, that block isn't floating left. • Are there size limitations to the .NET Assembly format?

  We ran into an interesting issue that I've not experienced before. We have a large scale production ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 Web App Project in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 which gets compiled and deployed using a Website Deployment Project. Everything has worked fine for the last year, until after a check-in yesterday the app started critically failing with BadImageFormatException. The check-in in question doesn't change anything particularly special and the errors are coming from areas of the app not even changed. Using Reflector we inspected the offending methods to find that there were garbage strings in the code (which .NET Reflector humorously interpreted as Chinese characters). We have consistently reproduced this on several machines so it does not appear to be hardware related. Further inspection showed that those garbage strings did not exist in the Assemblies used as inputs to aspnet_merge.exe during deployment. aspnet_merge.exe / Web Deployment Project Output Assemblies Properties: Merge all outputs to a single assembly Merge each individual folder output to its own assembly Merge all pages and control outputs to a single assembly Create a separate assembly for each page and control output In the web deployment project properties if we set the merge options to the first option ("Merge all outputs to a single assembly") we experience the issue, yet all of the other options work perfectly! My question: does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a size-limit to aspnet_merge.exe's capabilities (the resulting merged DLL is around 19.3 MB)? Are there any other known issues with merging the output of WAPs? I would love it if any Assembly format / aspnet_merge.exe gurus know about any such limitations like this. Seems to me like a 25MB Assembly, while big, isn't outrageous.

  I have an iPhone app where I'd like to load a remotely served HTML form into a UIWebView and then populate that form as data becomes available from an external accessory using the "External Accessory Framework." Right now the data is entered by hand. The proposed flow is: Fetch an HTML page containing a form and put it into a UIWebView When data becomes available from the external accessory, populate the form field(s) Submit the form Is it possible to do this by "injecting" data from the external accessory into the UIWebView when all required data has been retrieved from the external accessory? I cannot seem to find any good examples on how to use the external accessory framework to achieve this.

• Is there a workaround to Safari's/Opera's bug that you can't tab through hyperlinks?

  In IE, Firefox, Chrome and most Windows-based interfaces that I've used, the Tab key can be used to navigate from one form field or hyperlink to the next (e.g. "actionable" items) (note: I have not tested on other Operating Systems) However Safari and Opera skip all hyperlinks in a web page when tabbing. IMHO its a usability bug but I digress. Is there a workaround/hack to make Safari and/or Opera navigate through these links? I've noticed that Opera will accept the tabindex attribute if set e.g. tabindex="0" thus maintaining the links "index" within the flow of the DOM on the page... but Safari does not want to accept this. For those interested, this bit of jQuery will make all the hyperlinks clickable. //Make links 'tab-able' in Opera $(document).ready(function(){ if($.browser.opera){ $('a[href]').attr('tabindex', 0); } }); ...and although this seems to work for Opera... is there a better workaround?

I have succeeded in this, but this has just presented me with a new set of problems: What are the control names for changing the visible size as well as the focus of a worksheet? What are the control names for changing/making background colours and borders? How do I create and define new worksheets and MSGraph objects inside the document? • asp.net how to add items programmatically to detailsview

  I have the following code for each lookup table. So far I am doing copy/paste for each drop down list control. But I think there is a better way of doing this. I should be able to specify DataTextField, DataValueField, control names etc. Of course I will have to manually add configuration related database values on the database side like look up table, and other changes in the stored proc.   Hi, I have One grid say Grid 1 in which there are some columns. There is one view image button, one delete image button and one column which says that color column is Red or Blue. If color column is Red the deleted button is hidden else its shown (Based on user given rights to delete a column or not). Now a user clicks a view button for Red Color Column. If this condition is satisfied, then i want that delete icon should not be present in Grid 2. Grid 2 has 2 columns. One is deleted image button and one is file name (which is uploaded via upload control). So If in Grid One "View Image Button" is clicked for "Red" Column i should be able to hide the delete button from Grid 2. I have tried by writing code in Item command but i am not able to access control of grid2. is this the correct way? Or else suggest me some correct way. Please Make sure that code is compatible with VS 2003. let me know if more inputs are needed. Thanks

• Embedding Perl Interpreter

  Hi, just downloaded ActivePerl. I want to embed the perl interpreter in a C# application (or at least call the perl interpreter from C#). I need to be able to send send out data to Perl from C#, then receive the output back into C#. I just installed ActivePerl, and added MS Script Control 1.0 as a reference. I found this code on the internet, but am having trouble getting it to work. MSScriptControl.ScriptControlClass Interpreter = new MSScriptControl.ScriptControlClass(); Interpreter.Language = @"ActivePerl"; string Program = @"reverse 'abcde'"; string Results = (string)Interpreter.Eval(Program); return Results; Originally, it had 'PerlScript' instead of 'ActivePerl', but neither work for me. I'm not entirely sure what Interpreter.Language expects. Does it require the path to the interpreter? Solved... I'm not sure how, but when I changed it back to PerlScript it works now. Still, I would like to know if MSScript Control is using ActivePerl or another interpreter.

• Visual Studio Designer looses / ignores data

  I'm writing my own control - a datagridviewcolumn that displays integer values as texts like the comboboxcolumn can but without showing the combobox unless the cell is edited. I'm mostly there but I have problems with the databinding. I managed to get the necessary properties to appear in the designer but every time I set the datasource and close the editor the changes are dropped.   I have converted postcode boundary polygons to point data (point[] for each polygon) from GIS Shape Files. I am wanting to show this in a c# windows forms application. I have managed to show this using the System.Drawing (GDI+) DrawPolygon() method. Graphics g = this.CreateGraphics(); Pen pen = new Pen(Color.Black); Brush brush = new SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(255,255,o)); PointF[] ptr = { point data here }; g.FillPolygon(brush, ptr); g.DrawPolygon(pen, ptr); Is it possible to add events to a drawn polygon? If so how do I do this for individual polygons. For example, click on a postcode polygon and a messagebox shows information about the postcode. Secondly, would it be easier to make a custom control inheriting the winforms panel. Is there a way to shape the border of a winforms panel control using a set of points? Postcode objects are serialised and stored in the filesystem.

• WPF not applying default styles defined in MergedDictionaries?

  In a WPF application I defined default control styles in separate resource dictionaries (e.g. "ButtonStyle.xaml"), and added them as merged dictionaries to a resource dictionary named "ResDictionary.xaml". If I refer this "ResDictionary.xaml" as merged dictionary in my App.xaml, the default styles are not applied. However, if I refer the "ButtonStyle.xaml", it works correctly. If I recompile the same code in .NET 3.5 or 3.0, it recognizes and applies the default styles referred in "App.xaml" through "ResDictionary.xaml", but not in .NET 4.0. At runtime if I check the Application.Current.Resources dictionary, the default styles are there, but they are not applied, only if I specify the Style property explicitly in the Button control. Are there any solutions to refer a resource dictionary (containig default styles) this way in .NET 4.0? • PHP Shopping Cart Script - When to empty cart?

  Im working on a shopping cart script in php and need some advice on how to handle the final process. Once the customer has entered items into the cart, chosen shipping option, and then clicked the checkout button, they are then redirected to a paypal button which is dynamically generated using BMCreateButton. My question is, when is the best time to empty the customers cart? I have set up the auto return feature on paypal, which i was goin to use to then empty the cart, but its not very good as customers have to click a link in order to redirect. So should i empty it when they click the checkout button just before the dynamic button? • Auto-resize custom horizontal scrollbar/slider?

  I'm working on a site that scrolls horizontally. I know very little about jQuery and prototype and I got this slider script working as the page scrollbar. When the window is resized smaller, the custom horizontal slider/scrollbar won't resize to the viewport's width. I have the page and js files here http://keanetix.co.cc/scrollpage/ Try to resize the browser and you'll notice the custom scrollbar extending to the right. The custom scrollbar wont fit on the viewport, unless you refresh the page when it's been resized. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks.   Hi I need to assign a formatted date to a column in a data flow. I have added a Derived Column editor and entered the following expression: "BBD" + SUBSTRING((DT_WSTR,4)DATEADD("Day",30,GETDATE()),1,4) + SUBSTRING((DT_WSTR,2)DATEADD("Day",30,GETDATE()),6,2) + SUBSTRING((DT_WSTR,2)DATEADD("Day",30,GETDATE()),9,2) The problem is that the "Derived Column Transformation Editor" automatically assigns a Data Type of "Unicode string[DT_WSTR]" and a length of "7". Howver, the length of a string is 11, therefore the following exception is thrown each time: [Best Before Date [112]] Error: The "component "Best Before Date" (112)" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "output column "Comments" (132)" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. Does anyone know why the edit is insisting on a length of 7? I don't seem to be able to change this. Many thanks, Rob.

  I need to generate the form seen here using Python/reportlab. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49740282@N06/4563137758/sizes/o/ I am attempting to do this by creating a custom flowable for the header at the top (with the boxes drawn) and then having a table flowable for the jewelry table below. What shows as the JEWELRY table for this example could potentially be multiple tables. I am having trouble getting my drawn header to "flow". It gets drawn, but then my table data overlays it instead of appearing below it. This is my first project with reportlab. Before I really get into debugging this, I would like to know from someone with reportlab experience if my approach is correct here. Thanks!

• Visio 2010 Reverse Engineer Oracle

  I have used Visio 2007 in the past to reverse engineer Oracle databases to get a flow scheme. I believe all Office 2007 products were x86 as well which is where I suspect my issue currently lies. I have since upgraded to Visio 2010 x64 and when I go to reverse engineer something from Oracle it shows up under Installed Visio Drivers but I can't seem to create a data source using it. My assumption here is it is because Oracle doesn't play nicely with x64 and with Visio being compiled as x64 I don't even get the option to use it. Has anyone done this with Visio 2010 x64 and Oracle yet? Or are there other tools you would recommend to reverse engineer and get a model such as the one generated by Visio?

  Hello Everybody, The company details page in my system has a user control to show the founders of the company, that user control represents the founders by using a Rad Grid and three buttons for insert/edit/delete founders, the founders grid is being bind by using a WCF service. the insert button calls a javascript method that opens a Rad Window in which the user can insert the data for a new founder my problem is: in the Add Founder Rad Window I shouldn't save the new founder in the database, when I press Add the Rad Grid should be closed and the new founder should be added to the founders Grid's datasource, and then the grid should be bind again the questions is: what is the best way to do that, I don't want to use sessions nor json, I tried to use another wcf service which takes two parameters: reference to the grid and the new founder, and in this wcf service I get the old datasource then add the new founder to it and finally rebind the grid again, but I have faced some problems like how can I send the reference to the grid from javascript method to a WCF service, also if I add more than one founder how can keep track of the new founders and the original datasource if any of you can lead me to an example similar to my case this would be very much appreciated, also any comments and feedback are most welcomed

• Opening AFOpenFlowView already in landscape mode

  I'm using the open source CoverFlow replacement from here: http://fajkowski.com/blog/2009/08/02/openflow-a-coverflow-api-replacement-for-the-iphone/ When I detect that a certain view has gone from portrait to landscape mode, I instantiate an AFCoverFlowView and push it onto the navigation stack. If I do so in response to (void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation The cover flow view comes up as though the phone were still in portrait mode. If I push the view in response to (void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation it works perfectly - the view comes up in landscape mode with the phone in landscape mode Unfortunately, the device doesn't reliable get willRotateToInterfaceOrientation messages. I have tried making sure that [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; is in loadView but that doesn't help with the notificiations. So, my questions are: Is there a way to reliably get willRotateToInterfactOrientation? if not How do I instruct AFCoverFlowView to come up in landscape mode (if the device is already in landscape mode)

• Apache Cassandra overwhelming bandwidth overhead

  while testing Apache Cassandra, I inserted 1000 rows of data. I allow it to propagate to the other machine on LAN. This is a 2 machine cluster. I monitor the network connection between the two machine. The total data I expected to flow between the two servers should be around 25Mb including all column names, column values and timestamps). But the actual data sent and received between them was an whopping 362Mb!! Anybody knows why is there such an overwhelming overhead? Thank you

• How to get the "real" colors when exporting a GDI drawing to bmp

  Hi guys I'm developing a ASP.Net web handler that returns images making a in-memory System.Windows.Forms.Control and then exports the rendered control as a bitmap compressed to PNG, using the method DrawToBitmap(). The classes are fully working by now, except for a problem with the color assignment. By example, this is a Gauge generated by the web handler. The colors assigned to the inner parts of the gauge are red (#FF0000), yellow (#FFFF00) and green (#00FF00) but I only get a dully version of each color (#CB100F for red, #CCB70D for yellow and #04D50D for green). The background is a bmp file containing the color gradient. The color loss happens whether the background is a gradient as the sample, a black canvas, a white canvas, a transparent canvas, even when there is not a background set. With black background With transparent background With a white background Without a background set With pixel format in Format32bppArgb I've tried multiple bitmap color deeps, output formats, compression level, etc. but none of them seems to work. Any ideas? Every time the site was surfed the quotes had changed. The HTML contents could then be decoded with regular expressions (regex). Problem They have stopped this service by today. Now the quotes are not realtime when surfing on the page. The only way to get stock quotes now is to use pushed quotes "Push starten"-Button. However I do not know how to basically fetch them in C#. When I create a webbrowser element the only way which I know to get the push quotes out of it is to give the webbrowser element the focus send key ctrl+A and ctrl+C and insert the data some where for decoding. This is not desired since the control is moved away from the user and in case some other control is clicked during the process this may result in unexpected behaviour. Question So is there a proper way to decode push stock quotes in C#? Thanks a lot in advance, --eric
