Controlling a browser from Python

I am looking for a way to control a browser from Python, i.e. fill out form fields and submit them, possibly call JS functions. I've looked around a bit, but as far as I could see PyWebKitGtk only lets you show the browser as a GUI element, not interface with it. Is there a way to do this easily? I wrote my program logic in Python, and I would hate to port it to JS. Besides that, even if I'd use pure JS "bookmarklets", those wouldn't be able to read/write to my local filesystem, would they? P.S. to quell your suspicions, I'm not trying to automatically fill out forum account creation forms or something similarly spammious, though the task is technically similar. I need to crawl/scrape sites for my research project.

Converting a stopwatch time to milliseconds (regex)

I'm trying to figure out the best way to convert a string containing a time to an integer number of milliseconds. I'm using a suboptimal way using a bunch of preg_match()'s and some array handling, but I was wondering if there was an elegant way. Here are some example stopwatch times (some wouldn't actually be seen on a stopwatch but need to be converted anyway): 3:34:05.81 34:05 5 (just 5 seconds) 89 (89 seconds) 76:05 (76 minutes, 5 seconds) Millseconds will not extend past 2 decimal places. You can give me an example using either PHP or Javascript regex functions. Thanks!

Why does the infobox in my MSN Map not close?

I'm having a bit of trouble with this map, invoked by the "View our interactive map" button in the middle of the content area. If you double click a point such as 8 which causes a zoom and then afterwards it causes the info box to appear, the hide logic is wrong. If you try to close the x, it will fail. This is probably because the user clicked too fast and the map thinks its in zoom mode when infact it should be in info box mode. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Looks like I have to mess around with window.ero.hide and some other functions.. because map.HideInfoBox doesn't hide the map. EDIT: The script used is here. I did not code it, but the relevant bit has: onclick="EnableEroHide();map.HideInfoBox();changePin();return false;" The map.HideInfoBox() should hide the info box.

I know I can get the time take to evaluate a function can be printed out on the screen/stdout using the time function/macro. The time macro returns the value of the evaluated function, which makes it great to use it inline. However I want to automatically measure the runtime under specific circumstances. is there a function which returns the elapsed time in some library to hep with this benchmarking?

What if one wants to apply a functon i.e. to each row of a matrix, but also wants to use as an argument for this function the number of that row. As an example, suppose you wanted to get the n-th root of the numbers in each row of a matrix, where n is the row number. Is there any way to pre aggregate results of aggregate functionts (f.i. count()) and store it in an index? The background is: i want to speed up count() queries. So that: Select count(users) from TE123 where region = 'A'; would be supported by an index like Region Count(Users) A 548 E 458 I know that MQTs would also help for this problem. However, in this case it is not possible to use MQT, as we use kind of an ORM and we don't want to define Entities on MQTs. I just slightly remember - one DBA told me - that there is such a function planned for DB2 V10.

Using Components.utils.import in a firefox extension

I am trying to create some global variables in a firefox extension. In my content folder, I have two javascript files: 1) Main JS file that holds the functions for the different events, etc 2) A file that stores only an object with the pieces of state I want to maintain. Also, I set the array EXPORTED_SYMBOLS. I am having issues with the following line found in my main JS file: Components.utils.import("resource:///globalVariables.js"); When it is at the top of the file, nothing seems to work. If I move it into the function where I need the variable, the rest of my code works, but the function with this line does nothing. Any advice that would help me with this problem would be great. How can I set breakpoints in an external JS script in Firebug

I can easily set breakpoints in embedded JS functions, but I don't see any way of accessing extarnal JS scripts via Firebug unless I happen to enter them during a debug session. Is there a way to do this w/o having to 'explore' my way into the script? @Jason: This is a good point, but in my case I do not have easy access to the script. I am specifically talking about the client scripts which are invoked by the ASP.Net Validators that I would like to debug. I can access them during a debug session through entering the function calls, but I could not find a way to access them directly.

Why can't c# calculate exact values of mathematical functions

Hey everyone, Why can't c# do any exact operations. Math.Pow(Math.Sqrt(2.0),2) == 2.0000000000000004 I know how doubles work, I know where the rounding error is from, I know that it's almost the correct value, and I know that you can't store infinite numbers in a finite double. But why isn't there a way that c# can calculate it exactly, while my calculator can do it. I'm working on a search component for an app I'm working on and I needed to add some filters to it. I've found an example and got the first filter working fine. Now I'm trying to add a second filter I'm running into problems... In the example I found they use filterFunctions, but I only get an option for filterFunction, why is that? Here's the example code productsCollection.filterFunctions = [ filterByPrice, filterByType, filterByCondition, filterByVendor ] And this is what I'm trying acData.filterFunction = [filterByStatus, filterByDate] but with this code I get the following error message - 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Array to an unrelated type Function. I am developing a Phonegap app with JQuery mobile with their latest stable versinos (Phonegap 3 and JQM 1.3.2) for Android platform. My app downloads feeds from Google Feeds API and saves in a SQLite database. But whenever it starts fetching and saving data from the web (the no of feeds that download at a time can be many), the other functionality such as button events halt and freeze. To be precise the a button that opens and closes a panel does not either open or close the panel until the data fetching stops. How am I supposed to solve this issue? The performance has dropped drastically due to this issue in my app.

Re-ordering C++ template functions

In C++, I have a certain template function that, on a given condition, calls a template function in another class. The trouble is that the other class requires the full definition of the first class to be implemented, as it creates the second class and stores them and manages them in similar fashions. The trouble is that naturally, they fall as one class, and thus have some tight interop, except that I need them to be two classes for threading reasons. A sort of, master for all threads, one child per thread, system. Any advice on how this can be implemented?

Okay so I am trying to make my code work. It is a simple C++ program with a class "CArray". This class has 2 properties, the array size, and the value. I want the main C++ program to create two instances of the class CArray. In the class CArray, I have a function called "AddArray( CArray )" where it adds another array to the current array. The problem I am stuck with, is that I want the function "AddArray" to add the two arrays in fortran. I know, much more complicated, but that is what I need.
