• James - mail server configuration help needed

  Hi, I am trying to setup James mail server on a linux machine. The linux machine has public static ip address assigned. I installed James and added in the config.xml added the servername as mydomain.com. In the DNS for mydomain.com, I have created a A-record, say mx.mydomain.com, which corresponds to the ipaddress of the above mail server machine. Then added mx.mydomain.com as MX record for mydomain.com. In James, I have created a new user test. Then from gmail, I sent a mail to [email protected]. The mail is not received back and it didn't even bounce back. The linux machine is behind a firewall with only 22, 80, 8080 ports open for external network. My question here is, Do I require do open any other ports on the firewall so that the mail I send from gmail arrives to James? If it's not the port problem, any views on solving this issue? I don't want to send mails from this server. It's only for receiving the mails.

• F# Powerpack's Metadata doesn't recognize FSharp.Core as an F# library

Instead, all 3 throw an exception that FSharp.Core is not an F# assembly (details below, re-formatted for readability). Two more clues: Using the core3 method, I get the same error for the test F# assembly itself I don't get the error at FSI after doing #r "@C:\Program Files...\FSharp.Powerpack.Metadata.dll". Any ideas? I'm using Visual Studio 2008, F# 2.0 and F# Powerpack 2.0.0.0 (May 20, 2010) release on an oldish XP VM, I think it's updated to SP3 though. (I got the error this morning with Powerpack 1.9.9.9, so I upgraded to 2.0.0.0. I thought that if 1.9.9.9 doesn't recognise F#'s 2.0.0.0's assemblies, then maybe bugfixes in Powerpack 2.0.0.0 would help.) • grails run-war connects to mysql but grails run-war doesn't

  Hi, I have a unexpected problem. I had create a war with grails war. Then I had deployed in Tomcat. For my surprise the crud works fine but I don't know what persistence is using. So I did this test: Compare grails prod run-app with grails prod run-war. The first works fine, and does conect with the mysql database. The other don't. • OCR with Neural network: data extraction

  I'm using the AForge library framework and its neural network. At the moment when I train my network I create lots of images (one image per letter per font) at a big size (30 pt), cut out the actual letter, scale this down to a smaller size (10x10 px) and then save it to my harddisk. I can then go and read all those images, creating my double[] arrays with data. At the moment I do this on a pixel basis. So once I have successfully trained my network I test the network and let it run on a sample image with the alphabet at different sizes (uppercase and lowercase). But the result is not really promising. I trained the network so that RunEpoch had an error of about 1.5 (so almost no error), but there are still some letters left that do not get identified correctly in my test image. Now my question is: Is this caused because I have a faulty learning method (pixelbased vs. the suggested use of receptors in this article: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/neural_network_ocr.aspx - are there other methods I can use to extract the data for the network?) or can this happen because my segmentation-algorithm to extract the letters from the image to look at is bad? Does anyone have ideas on how to improve it?

  I am trying to use VS2010's 1-Click Publish feature to deploy a test site from my laptop to my server. I have the firewall turned off on both machines and the MS Deployment Service is up and running on both my laptop and the server. However when I try and publish from VS2010 on my laptop I get the following error Error 1 Web deployment task failed.(Remote agent (URL https://192.168.1.181/:8172/msdeploy.axd?site=LocationsTest) could not be contacted. • MSTest: Problems with DeploymentItem attribute

  Hi, I'm currently maintaining an "old" system written in C#.net, removing some obsolete features and doing some refactoring. Thanks god, the previous guy wrote some unit tests (MSTests). I quite comfortable with JUnit tests, but didn't do yet much with MSTests. The test methods have a DeploymentItem attribute, specifying a text file which is parsed by the business logic method that is being tested and a 2nd DeploymentItem where just a path has been specified containing a bunch of TIF files that have to be deployed too. [TestMethod()] [DeploymentItem(@"files\valid\valid_entries.txt")] [DeploymentItem(@"files\tif\")] public void ExistsTifTest() { ... } The tests worked before, but now I had to change the names of the TIF files contained in the \files\tif directory. According to a rule, the TIF filenames have to match a certain pattern which is also checked by the ExistsTifTest() method. Now I had to change the filenames in order to adapt them to the new requirements and suddently the TIF files are no more being deployed as before. Can someone give me a hint why this happens or what may be the cause? The same thing happens also if I add a new text-file say "my2ndTest.txt" beside the "valid_entries.txt" in the \files\valid\ directory with the according DeploymentItem attribute on the test method. The file doesn't get deployed? I got the images now deployed by defining the deployment path directly in the testrunconfig, but I'd like to understand why these things happen or why for instance my new file "my2ndTest.txt" doesn't get deployed while the others do. • Best practise to send mass email within application (ASP.NET MVC 2, C#)?

  Whats the best way to implement mass email sending feature within web app? Two major cases: Email messages for separate registered users depending on their activities (just sending short reminders to user for ex about new posts in his created topic) "Send email for all registered users" functionality, it will be nice to have feature for system administrator to send some messages for all registered users. Of course adding all emails to recipient isn't the way we can go, because email addresses for each user are anonimous. As i understand for case nr1 there is no problem just create some email message via System.Net.Mail by creating new mail message and sending it... but what about case nr 2??? i guess smth like this: foreach(var emailAddress in emailAddresses) { MailMessage mail = new MailMessage(); mail.From = new MailAddress("[email protected]"); mail.To.Add(emailAddress); mail.Subject = "test"; mail.Body = "test"; SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587); smtp.Send(mail); } isn't the good way :) so the question is what is the best way to achieve this ? btw we have no possiblity to deploy some serive for email sending, this should be integrated into web application.

• Outlook Addin in C# - How to add button/group in New Mail (next to signatures)

  I'm having some trouble understanding Outlook terms (CommandBarPopup, CommandBarButton etc) like what is what in Outlook so please be patient. I would like to create couple of things: I would like to create new group (or just button but i read it's not possible to add a button to an existing group in ribbon) on new mail next to Signature/Add attachment in Message Ribbon. It would have to work the same way Signature works so when you press it it display couple of options. How can i create it? I would like to override a button "NEW" (where you can choose that you want to send new mail, make appointment or do other things) so that when you are in Main Window when you press the down arrow next to new button you could choose one of options i will add? Is this possible? How do I do it?   I am trying to capture screenshots on test failure using selenium-client and rspec. I run this command: $ spec my_spec.rb \ --require 'rubygems,selenium/rspec/reporting/selenium_test_report_formatter' \ --format=Selenium::RSpec::SeleniumTestReportFormatter:./report.html It creates the report correctly when everything passes, since no screenshots are required. Am I missing something important in my spec? • iPhone nextResponder switching keyboards

  iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4 (I am downloading B5 to see if this clears this up) To me this seems like a bug, but maybe I am missing something. The linked test program illustrates this problem. I have several UITextFields that I am linking together using the Tag property. In textFieldShouldReturn I get the next UITextField and set it as the active responder. The problem arises with the IB settings for the keyboard type. In the test program I have the first two text fields set to default. The next three text fields are set to numeric and symbols. As you move into the set (bottom three) that use the numeric/symbol keyboard the keyboard will toggle between numeric/symbol and the default. What I mean is the third field will display the numeric/symbol. The second Default. The third numeric/symbol. If you add more text fields setup as numeric/symbol this will continue on. Now if you tab into the forth field (it should bring up the default) and then manually select the numeric/symbol. The problem will disappear. I have tried various things to track down why the problem disappears. No luck so far. Sample Project

• Webservice Connection Refused

  I have developed a web app using a webservice. Everything works fine in the development environment. I have moved the webservice to the production server in a test folder behind my main website. I can browse to the published service localy on the production server and i can access the remote service from my development machine. If I run my web app in my development environment I can use the remote webservice no problem. If I move the web application to the production environment the browser outputs this error when the application performs the ajax login method.   I'm writing an OpenCMIS based application, which extracts some data from Alfresco 3.3.
