  • Menu Control in Master Page fails to use CSS styles

    I'm working on a web application that uses ASP.NET 3.5 and C#. Structurally, I have a master page with a menu control on it. The control serves as my navigation, and it gets its items from a SiteMapDataSource control and a corresponding Web.sitemap file. The problem is that some styles do not render properly when you specify the CssClass property. More specifically, the selected and hover styles don't respond to css styles. I'm aware I might be able to programmically determine the current page and select the corresponding menu item manually so it receives the proper style class, but before I resort to hacking C# and Javascript together to fix this functionality, I'm open to ideas.

  • MS Sql Full-text search vs. LIKE expression

    Hi. I'm currently looking for a way to search a big database (500MB - 10GB or more on 10 tables) with a lot of different fields(nvarchars and bigints). Many of the fields, that should be searched are not in the same table. An example: A search for '5124 Peter' should return all items, that ... have an ID with 5124 in it, have 'Peter' in the title or description have item type id with 5124 in it created by a user named 'peter' or a user whose id has 5124 in it created by a user with '5124' or 'peter' in his street address. How should i do the search? I read that the full-text search of MS-Sql is a lot more performant than a query with the LIKE keyword and i think the syntax is more clear, but i think it cant search on bigint(id) values and i read it has performance problems with indexing and therefore slows down inserts to the DB. In my project there will be more inserting than reading, so this could be a matter. Thanks in advance, Marks

  • Checking inherited attributes in an 'ancestry' based SQL table

    I'm using the ancestry gem to help organise my app's tree structure in the database. It basically writes a childs ancestor information to a special column called 'ancestry'. The ancestry column for a particular child might look like '1/34/87' where the parent of this child is 87, and then 87's parent is 34 and 34's is 1. It seems possible that we could select rows from this table each with a subquery that checks all the ancestors to see if a certain attribute it set. E.g. in my app you can hide an item and its children just by setting the parent element's visibility column to 0. I want to be able to find all the items where none of their ancestors are hidden. I tried converting the slashes to comma's with the REPLACE command but IN required a set of comma separated integers rather than one string with comma separated string numbers. It's funny, because I can do this query in two steps, e.g. retrieve the row, then take its ancestry column, split out the id's and make another query that checks that the id is IN that set of id's and that visibility isn't ever 0 and whala! But joining these into one query seems to be quite a task. Much searching has shown a few answers but none really do what I want. SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE id = 99; 99's ancestry column reads '1/34/87' SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE visibility = 0 AND id IN (1,34,87); kind of backwards, but if this returns no rows then the item is visible. Has anyone come across this before and come up with a solution. I don't really want to go the stored procedure route. It's for a rails app.

    I'm using an ASP:LinkButton inside of an ItemTemplate inside of a TemplateField in a GridView. For the command argument for the link button I want to pass the ID of the row from the datasource that the gridview is bound to, so I'm doing something like this: <asp:LinkButton ID="viewLogButton" CommandName="viewLog" CommandArgument="<%#Eval("ID")%>" Text="View Log" runat="server"/> Unfortunately, the resulting HTML is this: <asp:LinkButton ID="viewLogButton" CommandName="viewLog" CommandArgument="3" Text="View Log" runat="server"/> It seems that it is parsing the Eval() properly, but this is somehow causing it not to parse the LinkButton tag and just dump it out as literal text. Does anyone know: a) why this is happening and, b) what a good solution to this problem is?

    Hi Geeks, We are having serious MySQL(InnoDB) performance issues at a moment when we do: (10-20) insertions on TABLE1 (10-20) updates on TABLE2 Note: Both above operations happens within fraction of a second. And this occurs every few (10-15) minutes. And all online users (approx 400-600) doing read operation on join of TABLE1 & TABLE2 every 1 second. My poor MySQL server crashes sometimes Questions Q1: Any suggestions to optimize at MySQL level? Q2: I thinking to use persistent connections at application level, is it right? Info Added Later: Database Engine: InnoDB TABLE1 : 400,000 rows (inserting 8,000 daily) & TABLE2: 8,000 rows 1 second query: SELECT b.id, b.user_id, b.description, b.debit, b.created, b.price, u.username, u.email, u.mobile FROM TABLE1 b, TABLE2 u WHERE b.credit = 0 AND b.user_id = u.id AND b.auction_id = "12345" ORDER BY b.id DESC LIMIT 10; // there are few more but they are not so critical.   • How to add a Drupal CCK Custom Field which supports unique identification of multiple values

    I need to create a custom field that supports multiple values which can be uniquely identified (beyond the delta field which changes when the values are re-ordered). I have created a module for the field and specified the two database columns that I would like CCK to use (one for the value and one for the ID) but I am not sure where the entry point is for adding in a unique id for each value (probably will just take the id from a sequence).

    I am having trouble getting the right hibernate annotations to use on a value typed Map with an enumerated class as a key. Here is a simplified (and extremely contrived) example. public class Thing { public String id; public Letter startLetter; public Map<Letter,Double> letterCounts = new HashMap<Letter, Double>(); } public enum Letter { A, B, C, D } Here are my current annotations on Thing @Entity public class Thing { @Id public String id; @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) public Letter startLetter; @CollectionOfElements @JoinTable(name = "Thing_letterFrequencies", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "thingId")) @MapKey(columns = @Column(name = "letter", nullable = false)) @Column(name = "count") public Map<Letter,Double> letterCounts = new HashMap<Letter, Double>(); } Hibernate generates the following DDL to create the tables for my MySql database create table Thing (id varchar(255) not null, startLetter varchar(255), primary key (id)) type=InnoDB; create table Thing_letterFrequencies (thingId varchar(255) not null, count double precision, letter tinyblob not null, primary key (thingId, letter)) type=InnoDB; Notice that hibernate tries to define letter (my map key) as a tinyblob, however it defines startLetter as a varchar(255) even though both are of the enumerated type Letter. When I try to create the tables I see the following error BLOB/TEXT column 'letter' used in key specification without a key length I googled this error and it appears that MySql has issues when you try to make a tinyblob column part of a primary key, which is what hibernate needs to do with the Thing_letterFrequencies table. So I would rather have letter mapped to a varchar(255) the way startLetter is. Unfortunately, I've been fussing with the MapKey annotation for a while now and haven't been able to make this work. I've also tried @MapKeyManyToMany(targetEntity=Product.class) without success. Can anyone tell me what are the correct annotations for my letterCounts map so that hibernate will treat the letterCounts map key the same way it does startLetter?

    I have two tables: tbl_lists and tbl_houses Inside tbl_lists I have a field called HousesList - it contains the ID's for several houses in the following format: 1# 2# 4# 51# 3# I need to be able to select the mysql fields from tbl_houses WHERE ID = any of those ID's in the list. More specifically, I need to SELECT SUM(tbl_houses.HouseValue) WHERE tbl_houses.ID IN tbl_lists.HousesList -- and I want to do this select to return the SUM for several rows in tbl_lists. Anyone can help? I'm thinking of how I can do this in a SINGLE query since I don't want to do any mysql "loops" (within PHP).

I have been using http://rdoc.info/github/rails/arel/master/frames Am I approaching this incorrectly? Or am I a few methods away from a solution?

  • jquery-ui .draggable is not a function error

    I am getting the following error (using Firefox 3.5.9): $("#dragMe_" + myCount).draggable is not a function $("#dragMe_"+myCount).draggable({ containment: 'parent', axis: 'y' }); Line 231 http://www.liamharding.com/pgi/pgi.php Link to page in question : http://www.liamharding.com/pgi/pgi.php For example, click the 2 checkbox's 'R25 + R50 Random Walk' then click Show/Refresh Graphs. Two graphs should be displayed, both with draggable thin horizontal red lines. Re-open the options panel and de-select R50 Random Walk, now click Show/Refresh Graphs again, 1 graph is removed and the other updated; now re-select R50 Random Walk and click Show/Refresh, you will find the still checked R25 graph gets updated ok the above error occurs and i cant figure out why. Initially, when displaying the first 2 graphs it uses the same code and it works just fine.     I have a base type where "business id" must be unique for a given subclass, but it is possible for there to be different subclasses with the same business id. If there is a base type with a requested id but of the wrong subclass I want to return null, using a named query. The code below does this, but I am wondering if I can avoid the try/catch with a better HQL. Can I?   • Form value not passed to Seam bean after a4j reRender

    I'm making a webapp in Seam but ran into a problem I can't seem to fix. I have a JSF form where the customer can select a reservation type through a combobox. Based on the selected value, other form components gets rendered. For example: the customer selects Hours as reservation type, a panelGroup gets rendered where the customer can select a start- and an end hour. But if the customer would select 'part of the day' as reservation type, a selectOneMenu gets rendered where the customer can select a part of the day (morning, afternoon, evening) The rerendering well but the values of the components with a rendered conditional won't get passed to the bean. They stay null values.     Hi, My table result contains fields: id count ____________ 1 3 2 2 3 2 From this table i have to form another table **score** which should look as follows id my_score ___________ 1 1.0000 2 0.6667 3 0.6667 That is my_score=count/MAX(count) but if i give the query as create TEMPORARY TABLE(select id,(count/MAX(count)) AS my_score from result); only 1 st row is retrieved.Can any one suggest the query so that my_score is calculated for all tuples.     Hey Everyone, This maybe a very mundane question, but this is the first jQuery plugin that I write and I'm a bit fuzzy on understanding the scope rules in Javascript. I'm trying to write an simple jQuery plugin that wraps around the Stack Overflow API. I'm starting off by trying to work with the Flair API. I wanted to make the plugin as configurable as possible so that you can easily pass it the domain and user id, and generate multiple Flairs. var superUser = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"superuser.com", id: 30162, parentId:'#su-flair'}); var stackOverflow = $.jStackOverflow.flair({domain:"stackoverflow.com", id: 55954, parentId:'#so-flair'}); The problem is, when it makes the second call, its somehow using the correct domain and id parameters, but the parentId field that it's using in the callback function to create the html, is using the first parameter.
