• Group Policy error 1006 with and error code 52

  I have a hyper-v cluster operating on win2k8 R2 in a 2003 forest. These servers are at our NOC with a DC that connects to our PDC at HQ via a persistent VPN. The cluster boxes are reporting a error event ID 1006 shown below. The DC is also reporting an error 5805 also shown below. I have found numorus posts regarding 1006 errors, but none for error ID 52's. It's weird, I can ping and I can browse network shares on the DC from each. I thought maybe a DNS or net work issue, but nslook up works too.   Hey all, I'm building OpenCV2.1 from top of branch in 64 bit mode, when I link the libraries against my code (that works in 32 bit mode on XP), I get the dialog: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002) Click OK to close the application" When I start the application. The event viewer is pointing at one of the OpenCV dll's & says it's a Side-by-Side error, but I'm definitely building OpenCV & my code as a 64 bit compile, and there are no errors during that process. I've tried fiddling with the /MTd options & it doesn't help. Some (almost) related questions have suggested installing the VS2008 redistributable package, but I'm building using vs2008 pro, that seems like madness? Is it still necessary to install the package in my case? Any help, including the cause of these side-by-side errors, would be appreciated. James

Edit / Answer The answer provided by Ivan did point me in the right direction. For anyone else running into this, here is a bit more information. Even though my IIS had no bindings set to the IP address I am using for VisualSvn, IIS will still take the IP address hostage unless IIS is explicitly told which IP addresses to listen to. There is no GUI in Win Server 2k8 to configure the IP addresses for IIS to listen; by default, IIS listens to all IP addresses assigned to the server. The following will help configure IIS to only listen to the IP addresses you want: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: show iplisten -- this will show a table of the IP addresses IIS is listening to. By default, the table will be empty (I guess this means IIS listens to all IP's) For each IP address IIS should listen to, enter: add iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x enter: show iplisten -- you should now see all the IP addresses added to the listening table. Exit and then reset IIS. Each of these commands can also be run directly, i.e., netsh http show iplisten If you need to delete an IP address from the listening table: open a command prompt enter: netsh enter: http enter: delete iplisten ipaddress=x.x.x.x Exit and then reset IIS.

• ASP.NET PageMethods and The HTTP verb POST used to access path is not allowed

  So, I'm using URL routing with WebForms. I run locally through the Visual Studio web server, and everything is hunky-dory. I deploy locally to IIS (XP, so it's IIS5), and therefore I need to make sure that I have my app wildcard mapped so the URL routing is handled properly. However, doing this makes all my PageMethods fail with this message: The HTTP verb POST used to access path is not allowed Something like /default.aspx/SendMessage does not work. I've seen solutions that exclude .svx and .asmx files, however, since this is a page method, this is a .aspx file. I know the solution is to move these files outside of .aspx, however, I have quite a few functions throughout the site in these various files. I guess I could create a single web service, and have all the functions there, however, I'm curious if there's a quick and easy way to fix this? Thanks all, -Steve

  I have been reading about Agile, XP methodologies and TDDs. I have been in projects which states it needs to do TDD, but most of the tests are somehow integration tests or during the course of project TDD is forgotten in effort to finish codes faster. So, as far as my case goes, I have written unit tests, but I find myself going to start writing code first instead of writing a test. I feel there's a thought / design / paradigm change which is actually huge. So, though one really believes in TDD, you actually end up going back old style because of time pressure / project deliverables. I have few classes where I have pure unit tested code, but I can't seem to continue with the process, when mocks come into picture. Also, I see at times : "isn't it too trivial to write a test for it" syndrome. How do you guys think I should handle this?

• Task Scheduler permissions error for some jobs

  I have recently moved to a 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2. I setup my Scheduled Tasks to run under one user (TaskUser) specifically created for the scheduler and most run just fine. However some of them do not run under TaskUser but will for my own credentials. Here is the Event Log entry I found, which from my research points me to believe that it doesn't have permissions, but it does. It also has the option "Run with highest privileges" checked on. I have seen this particular checkbox work wonders on some tasks, but I have a number of them that it's not helping for. • Windows Vista/Win7 Privilege Problem: SeDebugPrivilege & OpenProcess

  Everything I've been able to find about escalating to the appropriate privileges for my needs has agreed with my current methods, but the problem exists. I'm hoping maybe someone has some Windows Vista/Win7 internals experience that might shine some light where there is only darkness. I'm sure this will get long, but please bare with me. Context: I'm working on an app that requires accessing the memory of other processes on the current machine. This, obviously, requires administrator rights. It also requires SeDebugPrivilege, which I believe myself to be acquiring correctly, although I question if more privileges aren't necessary and thus the cause of my problems. Code has so far worked successfully on all versions of Windows XP, and on my test Vista32 and Win7x64 environments. Process: Program will Always be run with Administrator Rights. This can be assumed throughout this post. Escalating the current process's Access Token to include SeDebugPrivilege rights. Using EnumProcesses to create a list of current PIDs on the system Opening a handle using OpenProcess with PROCESS_ALL_ACCESS access rights Using ReadProcessMemory to read the memory of the other process. Problem: Everything has been working fine during development and my personal testing (including Windows XP 32 & 64, Windows Vista 32, and Windows 7 x64). However, during a test deployment onto both Windows Vista(32-bit) and Windows 7(64-bit) machines of a colleague, there seems to be a privilege/rights problem with OpenProcess failing with a generic Access Denied error. This occurs both when running as a limited User (as would be expected) and also when run explicitly as Administrator (Right-click Run as Administrator and when run from an Administrator level command prompt). However, this problem has been unreproducible for myself in my test environment. I have witnessed the problem first hand, so I trust that the problem exists. The only difference that I can discern between the actual environment and my test environment is that the actual error is occurring when using a Domain Administrator account at the UAC prompt, whereas my tests (which work with no errors) use a local administrator account at the UAC prompt. It appears that although the credentials being used allow UAC to 'run as administrator', the process is still not obtaining the correct rights to be able to OpenProcess on another process. I am not familiar enough with the internals of Vista/Win7 to know what this might be, and I am hoping someone has an idea of what could be the cause. The Kicker: The person who has reported this error, and who's environment can regularly reproduce this bug, has a small application named along the lines of RunWithDebugEnabled which is a small bootstrap program which appears to escalate its own privileges and then launch the executable passed to it (thus inheriting the escalated privileges). When run with this program, using the same Domain Administrator credentials at UAC prompt, the program works correctly and is able to successfully call OpenProcess and operates as intended. So this is definitely a problem with acquiring the correct privileges, and it is known that the Domain Administrator account is an administrator account that should be able to access the correct rights. (Obviously obtaining this source code would be great, but I wouldn't be here if that were possible). Notes: As noted, the errors reported by the failed OpenProcess attempts are Access Denied. According to MSDN documentation of OpenProcess: If the caller has enabled the SeDebugPrivilege privilege, the requested access is granted regardless of the contents of the security descriptor.   I have been looking at sample online code for interfacing with the Windows Task Scheduler, and most of them import the namespace: Microsoft.Win32.TaskScheduler When I go to import it, it's not there within Win32. Does anyone know why I can't import it? I'm assuming something isn't registered correctly on my machine, but I can't fiugre out how to fix it. • WAMP Apache 403 Forbidden error

  I have recently changed from Windows XP to Windows 7 and have reinstalled WAMP server on my localhost testing pc. I have copied over my backup site too and this is working correctly. I have installed tinyMCE javascript editor as well as ajaxfilemanager. Everything works except when accessing a file i get the following error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /catalog/admin/includes/javascript/tinymce/plugins/ajaxfilemanager/ajaxfilemanager.php on this server. I can access this file/folder through Windows explorer and all other parts of my site works (php, js in other section etc). Thanks for any help!

• InstallShield 2010 - 1603 Fatal Error [Windows Installer] (Windows 7 Only)

  Hi all, I created an MSI InstalScript Project where i deploy a web based (ASP.NET) precompiled project copying the files during installation in the \inetpub\wwwroot\projectnamefolder, creating an AppPool and the virtual dir of course in the IIS. The setup works great in windows XP Pro (SP3 i used). But soon as i try in Windows 7 (tried Ultimate and Home Premium) i get a -1603 Fatal Error during installation...Windows Installer Help (MSI.chm) or MSDN for more info.... Dying to fix this... [Edit] I think error occurs when trying to create the Application in the IIS. [FIXED] Enable 32 Bit Apllications needs to be true when creating Application Pools through InstallShield in a 64 bit OS!

• Creating .NET 3.0 sub-applications within .NET 1.1 applications in IIS/ASP.Net

  I am basically trying to do the same thing as this question, create a new application within a folder so it could be accessed as follows. * http://www.domain.com/ < Main App * http://www.domain.com/newapp < New App The problem is that newapp is reading the web.config from the Main App, which is causing errors because it doesn't have all the same dlls etc. For New App, in IIS, the starting point is set at /newapp, so I am not sure why it is reading the web.config from / at all. It is set as it's own application. I am testing this in IIS6 on XP Pro, so not sure if that makes a difference. The Main App is dotnet 1.1, and New App is 3.0. Edit: Adding 'inheritInChildApplications to <location doesn't work in 1.1, you get an error: Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'inheritInChildApplications'
