    Early versions of Windows 8 had this amazingly useful feature: Hit the Windows Key Type the first few letters of an application name Hit Enter to activate it (make it frontmost) If the application was not already running, it would launch it. This still happens, even in Windows 8.1. But if the application was already running, it would still be brought to the front. This is broken in Windows 8.1 (It was also broken in later versions of Windows 8.) Has anyone found a fix for this? So that the application is always brought frontmost, whether or not it is already running?

  • How should I load a xib into a detail view for a split view iPad objective app?

    I've got a split view iPad app with table view in the master pane. After drilling down several levels, each time loading a new .xib, I'd like one of the cells to trigger a web page load in the detail pane. Right now I can only get the web page .xib to load in the master pane side -- which is a master pain in my side. The basic load call where "URLWindow" is a class loaded with initWithNibName: [[self navigationController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; I want to do this, but it doesn't seem to work: @interface @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet DetailViewController *detailViewController; ... @implementation [[self detailViewController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; How should I be loading the URLWindow .xib into a detail view for a split view detail pane?

  • How to get the same UITableViewCell layout as in the Address Book app?

    Hi, I currently have a custom UITableViewCell which contains a few labels, and an image. The "main" label is used to display people's names. Currently, I'm styling it in bold text. What I'd like to do (to gain some space and readability), is to mimic the Address Book app cell style, that is: first name in light text, and family name in bold text. Is there a way to do this using the same UILabel? Or, should I use 2 different UILabels? How should I layout them, without knowing their sizes? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  • Any serious problems when making an old java web app run on new IE 8 browser?

    I need make an quick estimation on project (not sure we got): It's an old banking CMS java web app: Server: jdk5, weblogic 9. Client: winXP, Ie6. It was design only for use with ie6 but now we need make it also run well on new client: ie8,ie7 on win7. I understand the most difference is the client: DOM and CSS. But my problem is we hasn't been worked with ie8, and I have not enough time to build an testing environment because our developing environment is not ready to make test (its remoting completely, and managed by another partner) Any experience or suggestion to help me weighing this task need will be welcomed.

    I'm trying to write develop audio related application. In that, I'm using AudioToolBox framework for recording the sound. And I'm using AVFramework to play soudns. When app is stared, it will play some mp3 file using AVFramework. And also initializes Audiotoolbox. In simulator, I'm able to record and play. But when I'm testing it on iPhone, I'm getting following error for initializing AudioToolBox. 2009-12-11 22:25:51.599 StoryBook[807:207] AudioRecorder init AudioSessionInitialize failed with error: 1768843636 Can some one tell me whether we can use both AV as well as Audio Toolbox frame works in one application? Why I'm getting that error?

    Does anyone understand this huge difference in processing time, when using an intermediate file, or when using a pipe? I'm converting tiff to pdf using standard tools on a fresh debian squeeze server. A standard way of doing this is to convert to ps first. I'd like to compress some of the content, and I'm looking for advice on choosing to configure compression on the F5, or on the tomcat instances. Any big factors in the decision, or is it 6-of-one half-dozen of the other?

The instructions on this page... http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn303418.aspx say... To install the VHD Download the VHD file. Start Hyper-V Manager. On the Action menu, select Import Virtual Machine. Navigate to the directory that the virtual machine file was extracted to and select the directory (not the directory where the VHD file is located). Select the Copy the virtual machine option. Confirm that the import was successful by checking Hyper-V Manager. Configure the network adapter for the resulting virtual machine: right-click the virtual machine and select Settings. In the left pane, click Network Adapter. In the menu that appears, select one of the network adapters of the virtualization server, and then click OK. Start the virtual machine. Where it says "Navigate to the directory that the virtual machine file was extracted to and select the directory (not the directory where the VHD file is located). Select the Copy the virtual machine option." Well nothing has been extracted as far as I can tell? and if it has, I have no idea where or what im looking for? I tried creating a new VM and using the downloaded .vhd file but I got an error saying that the .vhd file is an incompatible format. Can anybody help me out please? Thanks, Paul

    Hello, I am trying to create a file that contains all of the code of an app. I have created a file called catlist.txt so that the files are added in the order I need them. A snippet of my catlist.txt: app/controllers/application_controller.rb app/views/layouts/* app/models/account.rb app/controllers/accounts_controller.rb app/views/accounts/* When I run the command the files that are explicitly listed get added but the wildcard files do not. cat catlist.txt|xargs cat > fullcode I get cat: app/views/layouts/*: No such file or directory cat: app/views/accounts/*: No such file or directory Can someone help me with this. If there is an easier method I am open to all suggestions. Barb

    I am using the DropBox Core API in my app and therefore, I must include the XCTest framework, because, when I haven't added the XCTest framework, my app can't connect to dropbox, however when I do add the framework, I get an error while building for the simulator.     I'm trying to read a Paradox 7.x .db file in a .Net 3.5 app and I'm not being successful on that. First of all, when I'm registering the odbc, as a user or system dsn, the Microsoft Paradox ODBC Driver only display versions up to 5.x, so it looks like that it does not support Paradox version 7.x. At connectionsstrings.com I've found the connection string that is supposed to work with Paradox 7.x: Provider=MSDASQL;Persist Security Info=False;Mode=Read; Extended Properties='DSN=Paradox;DBQ=C:\mydbfolder; DefaultDir=C:\mydbfolder;DriverId=538;FIL=Paradox 7.X;MaxBufferSize=2048; PageTimeout=600;';Initial Catalog=C:\mydbfolder But when I try to test the connection using a Data Adapter I get the following exception: "ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified" I have specified the ODBC as a user DSN and as a System DSN as well but kept receiving the same error. Note I don't mind paying for full blown Visual Studio in the long run, but for now everything needs to be free, including the IDE.

  • Mixed Mode C++ DLL function call failure when app launched from network share. Called from unmanage

    Mixed-mode DLL called from native C application fails to load: An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileLoadException' occurred in Unknown Module. Additional information: Could not load file or assembly 'XXSharePoint, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=e0fbc95fd73fff47' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission requests. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131417) My environment is: Native C application calling a mixed mode C++ DLL, which then loads a C# DLL.. This works correctly when loaded from a local drive, but when launched from a network drive, it fails with the above messages. The call to LoadLibrary succeeds, as does the GetProcAddress. The load error happens when I call the function. I have digitally signed the C application, and I've performed "strong name" signing on the 2 DLLs. The PublickKeyToken in the message above does match the named DLL. I have also issued the CASPOLcommands on my client to grant FullTrust to that strong name keytoken. When that failed to work, I tried the CASPOL command to grant FullTrust to the URL of the network drive (including path to my application's directory); no change in results. I tried removing all dependencies, so that there was just the initial mixed-mode DLL... I replaced the bodies of all the functions with just a return of a "success" integer value. Results unchanged. Only when I changed it from Mixed Mode to Win32, and changed the Configuration Properties General Common Language Runtime Support from "Common Language Runtime Support" to "No Common Language Runtime Support" did calling the DLL produce the expected result (just returned the "success" integer return value).

Creating trunk works just fine: macbook[601] # svn mkdir trunk A trunk macbook[602] # svn commit trunk Adding trunk Committed revision 67. moving everything into trunk fails: macbook[604] # svn move * trunk svn: Cannot copy path 'trunk' into its own child 'trunk/trunk' is there a way to do this without giving it all the file and dir names individually? There are threads describing how to do this with TortoiseSVN, but i'd like to know the right way to do it with the svn commandline. Thanks.

I need to move this script from an old server, configured by a previous sysadmin, to a new server. Since cgi-bin is automatically linked to /usr/lib/cgi-bin and linked such that the script resides: http://server-test.local/cgi-bin/formprocessorpro.pl I would imagine that, given that the templates are in the webroot in a directory called contact, the correct path would be: ../contact Any ideas?
