• Problem adding second domain controller to SBS 2008

  Have an SBS 2008 server in one location, and want to add a backup domain controller at a different site. The two sites are linked by a VPN. New server is running Server 2008 R2, fully patched. At present it is a member server and the DNS is pointing at the SBS DNS. When I try running DCPROMO to connect the server, the wizard runs fine up to the point where the wizard is 'configuring Active Directory Domain Services' and 'examining forest': "The operation failed because: The wizard could not read operational attributes from the remote Active Directory Domain Controller SERVER.DOMAIN.LOCAL using LDAP. "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation." This error can occur if you have not been granted necessary permissions to read data in the directory. For more information, please see article 936241 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=88420)." I was logged on as domain administrator. Interestingly the link is invalid and the KB article does not exist..! Settings: Configure this server as an additional Active Directory domain controller for the domain "[domain]". Site: [site] Additional Options: Read-only domain controller: "No" Global catalog: Yes DNS Server: Yes Update DNS Delegation: No Source domain controller: any writable domain controller Database folder: C:\Windows\NTDS Log file folder: C:\Windows\NTDS SYSVOL folder: C:\Windows\SYSVOL The DNS Server service will be configured on this computer. This computer will be configured to use this DNS server as its preferred DNS server.

• JEE Filter is not being executed during <h:commandLink> request

  Hi, I am working on a JEE application with facelets running in Tomcat 6. I wrote I Filter which works fine. Inside some facelet pages there are <h:commandLink> elements refering to another page inside the application and passing parameters to a managed bean. The refered page works on with the managed bean which got the parameter passed. <h:commandLink action="SingleArtikel.xhtml">Details <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{artikelBackingBean.primaryKey}" value="${artikel.primaryKey}" /> </h:commandLink> Now when I click on such a link, the filter is not beeing called. The URL inside the browsers url text field does not change. The refered pages are structured like this: <ui:composition template="index.xhtml"> <ui:define name="content"> ...content... </ui:define> </ui:composition> It is included into a template "index.xhtml". Why is the filter not being executed on such a request? Why does the url not change? How does such a request work? Thanks in advance.

• MOSS2007 tries to use ActiveDirectory when I have configured an alternative membership provider

  I've got a MOSS site that I am trying to configure using Forms authentication and absolutely any kind of membership provider whatsoever. Thus far ActiveDirectory has proved obstructively difficult so I've just whipped up a simple stub membership provider and put it in the GAC. It's a very basic and simple provider but it works fine with an ASP.Net site, I just can't make it work with Sharepoint. I've made sure I reset IIS and even restarted the server to see if either of those helped but they made no difference.

Both RACountryPanels and RAFieldVO are second level cached. If I check the 2nd level cache content I can see that it cointains the RAFields and the RACountryPanels as well and I can see the select .. from CTRY where ctry_cd_id=... in query cache region as well. When I call the servlet it seems that it is using the cache, but second time not. If I check the content of the cache using JMX, everything seems to be ok, but when I measure the object access time, it seems that it does not always use the cache. Cheers Zoltan

• Android SMS API

  I know that the SMS content provider is not part of the public API (at least not documented), but if I understand correctly it's still possible to use many of the SMS features as long as you know how to use the API(?). E.g it's pretty straightforward to insert an SMS into your inbox: ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); values.put("address", "+457014921911"); contentResolver.insert(Uri.parse("content://sms"), values); Unfortunately this does not trigger the standard "new-SMS-in-your-inbox" notification. Is it possible to trigger this manually? Edit: AFAIK the "standard mail application (Messaging)" in Android is listening for incoming SMSes using the android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS permission. And then, when a new SMS has arrived, a status bar notification is inserted with a "special" notification id. So one solution to my problem (stated above) could be to find, and send the correct broadcast intent; something like "NEW SMS HAS ARRIVED"-intent. Edit: Downloaded a third party messaging application (chompsms) from Android market. This application satisfies my needs better. When i execute the code above the chompsms notice the new sms and shows the "standard status bar notification". So I would say that the standard Android Messaging application is not detecting sms properly? Or am I wrong?

  I need some help getting some rich snippets to my site I inserted the review microdata following the instructions given on schema.org here http://schema.org/docs/gs.html#advanced_missing using the star-image for rating and the text for review count, but testing it with the test tool it showed nothing.   I am using an ItemsControl where the ItemsPanel is set to Canvas (see this question for more background information). The ItemsControl is performing as I want, and it works like a charm when adding a child element manually by putting it into ItemsControl.Items: <ItemsControl> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas IsItemsHost="True" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.Items> <Button Canvas.Left="500" Content="Button Text" /> </ItemsControl.Items> </ItemsControl> Note the Canvas.Left property on the Button. This works like a charm, and the Button is placed 500 pixels from the left of the ItemsControl left side. Great! Here's how I'm writing out this string: {$entry/atom:content/text()} How can I have the escaped characters unencoded so it writes < rather tha &lt; ? I've tried to do a replacelike this but it always replaces the &lt; with &lt; ! fn:replace($s, "&lt;", "<")

• Need troubleshooting advice for intermittent dns problems with requests on isp nameservers

  I've been having some intermittent dns problems with a web server, where certain isp's dns servers don't have my hostnames in cache and fail to look them up. At the same time, queries to opendns for those hostnames resolve correctly. It's intermittent, and it always works fine for me, so it's hard to identify the problem when someone reports connectivity problems to my site. My website is on a server running linux with Plesk. My dns records are configured with plesk (so my server is its own dns master). Domain name is registered with godaddy. I'm not real knowledgeable about dns, so I don't really know how to begin with troubleshooting. I've started learning to use dig, but while I can read the manpage to learn the syntax, I don't really know what questions to ask. Since the problem is intermittent I haven't been able to really catalog many symptoms. Symptoms I have observed: Certain people repeatedly reported intermittent problems connecting to my website. This was only from certain networks. (Ex: One guy could connect reliably from his office but not his home.) Sometimes I notice my browser taking a long time looking up the hostname for my site (Firefox shows a message in the status bar at the bottom). For me this is in the ten second range. ssh connections from anywhere to my server take a long time to connect but then seem to work fine once connected. So hopefully the folks on serverfault can point me to a good beginner tutorial for understanding dns, and suggest troubleshooting questions to ask next time one of my users reports connectivity problems.

  Background: I couldn't find any decent free HTML to PDF conversion utilities in C#. There are 100s of them for PHP with extensive documentation, support, and CSS support. So I am using html2ps and html2pdf (php). I have PHP 5.2 installed on IIS7 and its working beautifully to create PDFs.   Hi! I have problem with setting proper charset on my jsf pages. I use MySql db with latin2 (ISO-8859-2 charset) and latin2_croatian_ci collation. But, I have problems with setting values on backing managed bean properties. Page directive on top of my page is: <%@ page language="java" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-2" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2" %> In head I included: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-2"> And my form tag is: <h:form id="entityDetails" acceptcharset="ISO-8859-2"> I've created and registered Filter in web.xml with following doFilter method implementation: public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { request.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); response.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-2"); chain.doFilter(request, response); } But, i.e. when I set managed bean property through inputText, all special (unicode) characters are replaced with '?' character. I really don't have any other ideas how to set charset to pages to perform well. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

• Flash video slooow in AIR 2 HTMLLoader component

  I am working on a full screen kiosk application in Flex 4/Air 2 using Flash Builder 4. We have a company training website which staff can access via the kiosk, and the main content is interactive flash training videos. Our target machines are by no means 'beefy', they are Atom n270s @ 1.6Ghz with 1Gb RAM. As it stands the videos are all but unusable when used from within the Air application, the application becomes completely unresponsive (100% cpu usage, click events take approx 5-10 seconds to register). So far I have tried: increasing the default frame rate from 24fps to 60. No improvement. nativeWindow.stage.frameRate = 60; running the videos in a stripped down version of my app, just a full screen HTMLLoader component pointed at the training website. No better than before. disabled hyper threading. The Atom CPU is split into two virtual cores, and the AIR app was only able to use one thread so maxed out at 50% CPU usage. Since the kiosk will only run the AIR app I am happy to loose hyper threading to increase the performance of the Air app. Marginal Improvement. The same website with the same videos is responsive if viewed in ie7 on the same machine, although Internet Explorer takes advantage of the CPU’s hyper threading. The flash videos are built with Adobe Captivate and from what I understand employee JavaScript to relay results back to the server. I will add more information about the video content asap as the training guru is back in the office later this week.

  Hi everyone, I am using a lot of HTTP Requests in an application that I am writing which uses OAuth. I am successfully POSTing and GETing. However, I am worried that I am not doing POST the right way. Do I need to include in the above code the following if-statement? if (method.equals("POST") && postData != null) { connection.setRequestProperty("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); connection.setRequestProperty("Content-Length", Integer .toString(postData.length)); OutputStream requestOutput = connection.openOutputStream(); requestOutput.write(postData); requestOutput.close(); } If so, why? • Adapting existing HTML/Javascript model to Titanium's latest release (v 0.9)

  In pre-0.9 versions of Titanium, one could simply specify an .html file (local or remote) in the tiapp.xml file and interact with it in the same manner as one would on a website. As of version 0.9, that is no the longer case. One creates their entire app dynamically. Unfortunately, this broke my previous implementation and, other than an updated Kitchen Sink, much of the new model and API calls are not covered in the documentation (e.g., createLabel). So, my question is this... What are the simplest steps for re-creating the previous effect (knowingly forgoing some of the advantages of the Titanium's latest approach if necessary)? My previous implementation was exactly as it functions on the website. The website has a single index.html file with no content other than links to JavaScript and style files. The document body's onload event called the first JavaScript function (located in the main script) and, from that point forth, the entire content was dynamically created. How can I set up the latest version of Titanium so that I am poised to do the exact same thing? BTW: Whereas I previously had the choice to keep the files local or remote, I don't believe that remote access (e.g., simply using the webView widget to point to the website) is viable. That's because pages displayed via the webView do not have access to most of the API. Since the iPhone and Safari browsers do not support the file input type, the only means for uploading files (something my app requires) is calling Titanium's function. Thanks in advance.

• How do I use a different image for each JQuery UI Slider handle

  I'm using a JQuery UI slider which has two handles (a.k.a range slider). I know how to style the first handle: .ui-slider-horizontal .ui-slider-handle {background: white url(http://stackoverflow.com/content/img/so/vote-arrow-down.png) no-repeat scroll 50% 50%;} But how do I style the second handle differently? Using Firebug I can see Jquery does not uniquely identify each handle: <div id="hourlyRateSlider" class="ui-slider ui-slider-horizontal ui-widget ui-widget-content ui-corner-all"> <div class="ui-slider-range ui-widget-header" style="left: 26%; width: 46%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 26%;"/> <a class="ui-slider-handle ui-state-default ui-corner-all" href="#" style="left: 72%;"/> </div> So I imagine I have to use either a CSS child selector which could be cross-browser problematic. Or I could use some JQuery trickery to add a CSS class to the second handle? Anyone done this in a neat way before?

This webservice is password enabled. that means i have used org.apache.cxf.ws.security.wss4j.WSS4JInInterceptor for security purpose. Now i want to call this webservice from php. but i am not able to do so. • Eclipse PDE - Plug-in, Feature, and Product Versioning

  I am having much confusion over the process of upgrading version numbers in dependent plug-ins, features, and products in a fairly large eclipse workspace. I have made API changes to java code residing in an existing plug-in and thus requires an increase of the Major part of the version identifier. This plug-in serves as a dependency to a given feature, where the feature is later included in a product. From the documentation at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Version_Numbering, I understand (for the most part) when the proper number should be increased on the containing plug-in itself. However, how would this Major version number change on the plug-in affect dependent, "down-the-line" items (e.g., features, products)? For example, assume we have the typical "Hello World" setup as follows: Plug-in: com.example.helloworld, version 1.0.0 Feature: com.example.helloworld.feature, version 1.0.0 Product: com.example.helloworld.product, version 1.0.0 If I were to make an API change in the plug-in, this would require a version update to be that of 2.0.0. What would then be the version of the feature, 1.1.0? The same question can be applied for the product level as well (e.g., if the feature is 1.1.0 OR 2.0.0, what is the product version number)? I'm sure this is quite the newbie question so I apologize for wasting anyone's time and effort. I have searched for this type of content but all I am finding is are examples showing how to develop a plug-in, feature, product, and update site for the first time. The only other content related to my search has been developing feature patches and have not touched on the versioning aspect as much as I would prefer. I am having difficulty coming into (for the first time) an Eclipse RCP / PDE environment and need to learn the proper way and / or best practices for making such versioning updates and how to best reflect this throughout other dependent projects in the workspace.
