• Data view web part throwing error

  Hi I'm using a xslt based dataview webpart the steps i have taken to create a data view webpart is that 1. added a list view webpart on the page 2. Modified the toolbar property to show fulll toolbar 3. open the web page containing above list view webpart in sharepoint desginer and converted it to xslt based webpart (to make further changes in UI) 4. saved the page and previewed in browser in browser web part was throwing the error while i was able to see it properly in desginer witout any error the error maesseged shown in webpart was: ** Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. • Add a custom variable to an email header already within a gmail inbox

  Hi guys - this may seem odd but I was wondering if it was possible to add custom header details to emails already in an inbox. Like lets say I wish to add in the Header of the email something like - myvariable = myvalue and then be able to query it somehow. I'm looking at code from Iloha mail and most of the details like subject and from recieved etc are in the headers and you can search through them. SO is it possible to add my own custom variable to an email header and query it in the same way? How can it be done using php? EDIT ==================== Thanks I know how you can modify the headers of sent messages plus also query for custom variables in message headers however in this case I want to know if it would be possible to add a custom variable in a recieved message already in my inbox. Actually let me define the situation here. I'm working on a google apps solution which requires maintaining references to emails. Basically the application is as such that when an email comes in - we create an order from that email and wish to maintain a reference to that EXACT email by some kind of identifier which would enable us to identify that email. The fact is that we don't want to download the emails in a database and maintain a separate store as we would want to keep all the emailing on GMAIL. We just need: A way to be able to 'link' to a specific email permanently - the UID is just a sequence number and not very reliable. We couldn't find any property of emails that could function as a unique ID or primary key and so we thought if we could instead generate a key on our end and store it in a custom variable on the email itself. However it seems unfortunately that there isn't a way to manipulate headers of an already existing email. :( is there any solution to this problem I could use any IDEA !

I have code to work out which Fruit or Color I would like to differentiate (by color/bold) in the code behind, but I can't figure out, especially given the custom listbox display, how I could go about setting a particular item to a different color/bold. • ASP.Net 2.0 VB WebSite Project "Type 'Exception' is not defined"

  All of a sudden our VB ASP.Net 2.0 WebSite Project started complaining that Exception was not defined. I have discovered that if I add "Imports System" to the header, or explicitly use System.Exception that it works, but this error permeates a lot of other System descendants like the Data namespace, and the DateTime object. We have hundreds and hundreds of pages, so adding Imports System to all of them not only would be time consuming, but it seems like a band-aid fix to the problem. I have checked the Project-Property Pages-References, and the web.config file, and the assembly is imported into the project, it is just not being "Auto Imported" into the Class Files like it USUALLY is. Note this does not JUST affect CodeBehind, but All className.vb files. I would like to fix this problem, but more importantly would like to understand what could cause the System namespace to all of a sudden stop being auto imported. There is obviously some file change that caused this, as my co-worker started seeing the problem this morning after he did a Full-Get on the project. MORE: The Web.Config file located in the Windows\Microsoft.Net...\Config\Web.Config file does have the , and System is added. Adding the tags, and adding System to the LOCAL web.config did nothing to mitigate the problem. Any help would be appreciated. First SO Question, so I hope I was descriptive enough.

• UINavigationController placement problem

  Hey, I'm having this problem and I can't seem to figure out why! I want to use a UINavigationController, but I don't want to use it through out the entire application. So, in the UIViewController I was to add it to, I define: UINavigationController *navigationController; and the @property, @synthesize and dealloc. In the viewDidLoad method, I add: navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] init]; navigationController.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleBlack; and when the relevant UIViewController is loaded, I add: [navigationController pushViewController:viewController animated:NO]; and make the old view disappear and the UINavigationController's view to appear. Everything works fine except that the navigation bar appears about 20pixels too low (dragging the entire view down and out of the screen). If I set the UINavigationController's view frame parameter manually to start at 0,0, it jumps there, but only after about a second, so that you can see the navigation bar starting at a certain location and only then jumping to another (and it is ugly!). I have done the exact same thing in the past and had no problem with it. Does anyone know what may cause this? Thanks,

  I'm trying to follow the kitten example given here http://www.sencha.com/blog/dive-into-dataview-with-sencha-touch-2-beta-2#comment_form and I have complex components in which one of the property of my data is a list of objects. And I do find a method for setting a list of objects which is setItems however it does not seem to work. My object array is my model MyApp.Model.Sponsor. Could anyone suggest what I'm missing to get this working?   I am just starting in the SL world and am trying to use the Caliburn NavigationShell as my starting point. I converted the solution to SL4 and use Caliburn from the trunk . To create the basic navigation, I am a bit unsure (well, quite), how I can display the original StackPanel of Buttons as a collapsible Treeview. • WPF: Change the style of a ViewBox depending upon the amount of data

  Hi there, I have a WPF app that has a ViewBox to display the items in my collection, diplaying a 2-column grid for my results. What I'd like to do is, depending on the number of items in my collection, change the number of columns. E.g if there are < 10 items in the list, then show them in just 1 column; If there are 10 items in my list, then show them in 2 columns; If there are 20 items in my list, then show 3 columns. • CSS - Inheriting layered background images

  CSS3 supports multiple background images, for example: foo { background-image: url(/i/image1.jpg), url(/i/image2.jpg); } I'd like to be able to add a secondary image to an element with a class though. So for example, say you have a nav menu. And each item has a background image. When a nav item is selected you want to layer on another background image. I do not see a way to 'add' a background image instead of redeclaring the whole background property. This is a pain because in order to do this with multi-backgrounds, you would have to write the base bg image over and over for each item if the items have unique images. Ideally I'd be able to do something like this: li { background: url(baseImage.jpg); } li.selected { background: url(selectedIndicator.jpg); } And have li.selected's end result appear the same if I did: li.selected { background: url(baseImage.jpg), url(selectedIndicator.jpg); } Update: I also tried the following with no luck (I believe backgrounds are not inherited..) li { background: url(baseImage.jpg), none; } li.selected { background: inherit, url(selectedIndicator.jpg); }

• Binding DataGridComboBoxColumn to a one to many entity framework relation

  I have two tables in the model, one table contains entries related to the other table in a one to many relations, for example: Table User ID Name Table Comments ID UserID Title Text I want to show a datagrid in a WPF window with two columns, one text column with the User name and another column with a combobox showing all the comments made by the user. The datagrid definition is like this: <DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns="False" [layout options...] Name="dataGrid1" ItemsSource="{Binding}"> <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTextColumn Header="Name" Binding="{Binding Path=Name}"/> <DataGridComboBoxColumn Header="Comments" SelectedValueBinding="{Binding Path=UserID}" SelectedValuePath="ID" DisplayMemberPath="Title" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Comments}" /> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid> in the code I assign the DataContext like this: dataGrid1.DataContext = entities.Users; The entity User has a property named Comments that leads to all the comments made by the user. The queries are returning data and the user names are shown but the combobox is not being filled. May be the approach is totally wrong or I'm just missing a very simple point here, I'm opened to learn better methods to do this. Thanks

• ASP.NET Content Web Form - content from placeholder disappears

  I'm attempting to set a class on the body tag in my asp.net site which uses a master page and content web forms. I simply want to be able to do this by adding a bodycssclass property (see below) to the content web form page directive. It works through the solution below but when i attempt to view Default.aspx the Content1 control loses its content. Any ideas why? Here is how I'm doing it. • ASP.Net application timeout

  Hi, I have an application I have just deployed which, for complicated reasons, stores all the data from the database in a module the first time any data from the specific table is required (i.e. when a customer requests to view a product for the first time, all the product data is stored in the ProductManager class (of which an instance is stored in a shared property of the SiteContent class, making the ProductManager easily accessible from any page). Now forget that you are probably now glaring at me for using this approach.. I am sure it has its inefficiencies but I have only been studying .Net for a year or so now so I am still learning. One thing I have noticed is that I can go on the site once, then revisit it 5 minutes later and it will load all the data into the ProductManager class again. It seems this is a .Net application timeout thing - since the session timeout is set to 30 minutes and, when I am logged in on the administration frontend, it logs me out after 5 minutes (ish). Does anyone have any idea how to change this? Is there any way I can change this in the code without having to contact the hosting company? If not in the code is there any way to change this in the web.config? Thanks in advance. Regards, Richard

  I am trying to bind a combo box to a property on my ViewModel. The target type is short? and I would like to have null be an option. • Entity Framework lazy loading doesn't work from other thread

  Hi, I just found out that lazy loading in Entity Framework only works from the thread that created the ObjectContext. To illustrate the problem, I did a simple test, with a simple model containing just 2 entities : Person and Address. Here's the code : private static void TestSingleThread() { using (var context = new TestDBContext()) { foreach (var p in context.Person) { Console.WriteLine("{0} lives in {1}.", p.Name, p.Address.City); } } } private static void TestMultiThread() { using (var context = new TestDBContext()) { foreach (var p in context.Person) { Person p2 = p; // to avoid capturing the loop variable ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem( arg => { Console.WriteLine("{0} lives in {1}.", p2.Name, p2.Address.City); }); } } } The TestSingleThread method works fine, the Address property is lazily loaded. But in TestMultiThread, I get a NullReferenceException on p2.Address.City, because p2.Address is null. It that a bug ? Is this the way it's supposed to work ? If so, is there any documentation mentioning it ? I couldn't find anything on the subject on MSDN or Google... And more importantly, is there a workaround ? (other than explicitly calling LoadProperty from the worker thread...) Any help would be very appreciated PS: I'm using VS2010, so it's EF 4.0. I don't know if it was the same in the previous version of EF...

• Over-enthusiastic Intellisense in VS2010 - can I tweak it?

  Since I have upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010, I've been having an increasingly infuriating battle with the Intellisense. For example, when specifying CSS styles, when I press Enter to start an new line, Intellisense (appropriately) lists available Styles to me. And if I select color and then type ':', it presents a list of color presets - often helpful. However, if I type in a space (I like them for readability) or if I type '#' to enter RGB values, it selected the default Intellisense selection, in this case inherits. Another example is in an ASP.NET page - say I am concatenating strings, I type myString =, I get an Intellisense pop-up. If I type space or '"' (to enter a literal) or '.' (so select a property or method within a WITH block), the Intellisense selects the first entry in the list. I can dismiss the Intellisense pop-ups with escape but it makes it incredibly slow to code. This behaviour is different to my VS2008 set-up. I can't seem to find any way to configure Intellisense to behave differently... I really only want it to select and Intellisense entry when I type or ... at least, certainly not when I type '"' or ' ' or '.'!

• ASP.NET MVC: null reference exception using HtmlHelper.TextBox and custom model binder

  I have written a class which implements IModelBinder (see below). This class handles a form which has 3 inputs each representing parts of a date value (day, month, year). I have also written a corresponding HtmlHelper extension method to print out three fields on the form. When the day, month, year inputs are given values which can be parsed, but a seperate value fails validation, all is fine - the fields are repopulated and the page served to the user as expected. however when an invalid values are supplied and a DateTime cannot be parsed, i return an arbitrary DateTime so that the fields will be repopulated when returned to the user. I read up on similar problems people have had and they all seemed to be due to lack of calling SetModelValue(). • Nested multithread operations tracing

  I've a code alike void ExecuteTraced(Action a, string message) { TraceOpStart(message); a(); TraceOpEnd(message); } The callback (a) could call ExecuteTraced again, and, in some cases, asynchronously (via ThreadPool, BeginInvoke, PLINQ etc, so I've no ability to explicitly mark operation scope). I want to trace all operation nested (even if they perform asynchronously). So, I need the ability to get last traced operation inside logical call context (there may be a lot of concurrent threads, so it's impossible to use lastTraced static field). There're CallContext.LogicalGetData and CallContext.LogicalSetData, but unfortunately, LogicalCallContext propagates changes back to the parent context as EndInvoke() called. Even worse, this may occure at any moment if EndInvoke() was called async. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/883486/endinvoke-changes-current-callcontext-why Also, there is Trace.CorrelationManager, but it based on CallContext and have all the same troubles. There's a workaround: use the CallContext.HostContext property which does not propagates back as async operation ended. Also, it does'nt clone, so the value should be immutable - not a problem. Though, it's used by HttpContext and so, workaround is not usable in Asp.Net apps. The only way I see is to wrap HostContext (if not mine) or entire LogicalCallContext into dynamic and dispatch all calls beside last traced operation. Help, please!

• Fluent NHibernate - Cascade delete a child object when no explicit parent->child relationship exists

  I've got an application that keeps track of (for the sake of an example) what drinks are available at a given restaurant. My domain model looks like: class Restaurant { public IEnumerable<RestaurantDrink> GetRestaurantDrinks() { ... } //other various properties } class RestaurantDrink { public Restaurant Restaurant { get; set; } public Drink { get; set; } public string DrinkVariety { get; set; } //"fountain drink", "bottled", etc. //other various properties } class Drink { public string Name { get; set; } public string Manufacturer { get; set; } //other various properties } My db schema is (I hope) about what you'd expect; "RestaurantDrinks" is essentially a mapping table between Restaurants and Drinks with some extra properties (like "DrinkVariety" tacked on). Using Fluent NHibernate to set up mappings, I've set up a "HasMany" relationship from Restaurants to RestaurantDrinks that causes the latter to be deleted when its parent Restaurant is deleted. My question is, given that "Drink" does not have any property on it that explicitly references RestaurantDrinks (the relationship only exists in the underlying database), can I set up a mapping that will cause RestaurantDrinks to be deleted if their associated Drink is deleted? Update: I've been trying to set up the mapping from the "RestaurantDrink" end of things using References(x => x.Drink) .Column("DrinkId") .Cascade.All(); But this doesn't seem to work (I still get an FK violation when deleting a Drink).

• Jetty startup delay

  I'm trying to figure out what would be causing a 1 minute delay in the startup of Jetty. Is it a configuration problem, my application, or something else? I have Jetty 7 (jetty-7.0.1.v20091125 25 November 2009) installed on a server and I deploy a 45MB ROOT.war file into the webapps directory. This is the only webapp configured in Jetty. I then start Jetty with the command: java -DSTOP.PORT=8079 -DSTOP.KEY=mystopkey -Denv=stage -jar start.jar etc/jetty-logging.xml etc/jetty.xml & I get two lines of output right after doing this: 2010-03-07 14:20:06.642:INFO::Logging to StdErrLog::DEBUG=false via org.eclipse.jetty.util.log.StdErrLog 2010-03-07 14:20:06.710:INFO::Redirecting stderr/stdout to /home/zing/jetty-distribution-7.0.1.v20091125/logs/2010_03_07.stderrout.log When I press the enter key, I get my command prompt back. Notice the 1 minute long pause between the 3rd and 4th lines. What is Jetty doing at this point? What other things could be going on? It doesn't even look like it has started my Spring initialization yet. Note that I checked my /tmp directory to see if it was simply the time to unpack my war file, but the file had been completely unpacked even at the start of this 1 minute delay.
