    Hi all, I got an array in my app and I need to order by one of its key. Basically what the app does is taking latitude and longitude somewhere, calculate the distance from my actual position and create an array containing a key called "distance". I'm using myArray sortUsingDescriptors: [NSArray arrayWithObject:[[[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"distance" ascending:YES] autorelease]]]; I'm not sure it's working, I mean the first results are ordered but then it shows distance closer to the previous, as example: 0.8 km 1.6 km 1.9 km 10053.9 km 1098.0 km 2372.0 km 470.5 km Any suggestion?     Despite having started learning programming with Pascal and C, after the jump to OO (C++, Java) I lost sense of the structured programming paradigm. I have started learning Lua and I have researched many tutorials, but all of them only cover basic operations and language features and capabilities. They feel more like a reference doc than a programmer's guide. Now, when trying to work with day to day tasks, how does one go through most common design patterns like observer, or multithreaded programming, creating UI elements and polling system calls for keyboard or sensors? Is it even feasible in this languages or you have to work with the C binding, libraries and low-level programming to get most stuff done? Do I get the Lua scope wrong?

  • Need sorted dictionary designed to find values with keys less or greater than search value

    Hi I need to have objects sorted by price (decimal) value for fast access. I need to be able to find all objects with price more then A or less than B. I was thinkg about SortedList, but it does not provide a way to find ascending or descending enumerator starting from given key value (say give me all objects with price less than $120). Think of a system that accepts items for sell from users and stores them into that collection. Another users want to find items cheaper than $120. Basically what i need is tree-based collection and functionality to find node that is smaller\greater\equal to provided key. Please advice.

    I have the following association in my User model: has_and_belongs_to_many :friends, :class_name => 'User', :foreign_key => 'friend_id' I have the following uniqueness constraint in my user_users table: UNIQUE KEY `no_duplicate_friends` (`user_id`,`friend_id`) In my code, I am retrieving a user's friends -- friends = user.friends. friends is an array. I have a scenario where I want add the user with all those friends to the friends array. Ex: friends << user_with_all_those_homies However, I get the following error: ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid: Mysql::Error: Duplicate entry '18-18' for key 'no_duplicate_friends': INSERT INTO `users_users` (`friend_id`, `user_id`) VALUES (18, 18) What gives?

    From what I understand, every code in f# is an expression, including let binding. Say we got the following code: let a = 5 printfn "%d" a I've read that this would be seen by the compiler as let a = 5 in ( printfn "%d" a ) And so the value of all this would be value of inner expression, which is value of printf. On the other hand, in f# interactive: > let a = 5;; val a : int = 5 Which clearly indicates that the value of let expression is the value bound to the identifier. Q: Can anyone explain what is the value of a let expression? Can it be different in compiled code than in F# interactive?

    I have a web form that collects information and submits it to a cgi that attempts to insert the data into LDAP. The problem is that I'm trying to use a variable with ::ldap::add and it's just not working.     Hello: I have a collection of physical parameters associated with different items. For example: Item, p1, p2, p3 a, 1, 2, 3 b, 4, 5, 6 [...] where px stands for parameter x. I could go ahead and store the database exactly as presented; the schema would be CREATE TABLE t1 (item TEXT PRIMARY KEY, p1 FLOAT, p2 FLOAT, p3 FLOAT); I could retrieve the parameter p1 for all the items with the statement: SELECT p1 FROM t1; A second alternative is to have an schema like: CREATE TABLE t1 (id INT PRIMARY KEY, item TEXT, par TEXT, val FLOAT) This seems much simpler if you have many parameters (as I do). However, the parameter retrieval seems very awkward: SELECT val FROM t1 WHERE par == 'p1' What do you advice? Should go for the "pivoted" (first) version or the id, par, val (second) version? I have initialized bundle via <f:loadBundle basename="ui.all.bundles.AppResources_en" var="msg"/> When i need to translate some text, i am using a key to resourceBundle, to get a value of it, for example: #{msg.someText}. But, now i want to translate text, which key is a value of another variable. For example: I have variable String textToTransl. It`s value is status_booked. In my AppResources is defined, that status_booked means "It is booked!", so, when i am pointing it to #{msg.textToTransl} i need to see "It is booked!" How can i make it work?

    Hello you all! I just made an application which purpose is to find an x result using the rule of three. It runs fine and everything but there is a small problem. I am using WinXP Europpean Spanish version. As we all know, in many europpean countries the decimal dot is changed by a " , " comma. When I use my application, it turns out that when I press the dot key on my keyboard´s number pad, my application doesnt take it as a normal decimal dot and it ignores it... so I need to manually press the comma key so it can give me the right answer. How can I solve this problem?

For the keydown event when the NumPad0, D0, and Colon key is pressed I would like to know what the associated charcode is. Currently I have a map that contains the charcode associated with that keyCode or use the current if charCode is not specified. keyCode = { Colon: 186, D0: 48, NumPad0: 96, }; charCodes = { 186: 59, 96: 48, }; shiftCharCodes = { 186: 58, 48: 41 }; Also in certain cases the keyCodes are different accross browsers?     I am trying to replicate a forum function by getting the last reply of a post. For clarity, see PHPBB: there are four columns, and the last column is what I like to replicate. I have my tables created as such: discussion_id (primary key) user_id parent_id comment status pubdate I was thinking of creating a Link Table that would update for each time the post is replied to. The link table would be as follow: discussion_id (primary key) last_user_id last_user_update However, I am hoping that theres a advance query to achieve this method. That is, grabbing each Parent Discussion, and finding the last reply in each of those Parent Discussions. Am I right that there is such a query?

I need to write a class that intercepts key strokes, if the input is determined to be from the keyboard wedge (as described in the above post) the data will be directed to POS classes to handle, otherwise they keystrokes must be passed on to be handled in windows in the normal manner.   • Microsoft chart images are not loaded from MOSS server

    hi, i have webpage in which a webpart contains a Chart control. the problem is chart control is rendered perfectly when i login as central admin. but when i login as another user with contribute permisson following problems occur. when i change webconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=file;timeout=20;dir=c:\TempImageFiles\;"--- page is not at all loaded. i get error like YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO VIEW THIS PAGE. when i change the wbconfig as --- add key="ChartImageHandler" value="storage=memory;timeout=20;URL=/_layouts/Images/MicrosoftChartControls/" --- the page loads fine but image is not rendered. A red mark appears in place of image. I tried all optins got by googling.. any more suggestions/help will be welcomed

  • What Windows message is fired for mouse-up with modifier keys?

    My WndProc isn't seeing mouse-up notifications when I click with a modifier key (shift or control) pressed. I see them without the modifier key, and I see mouse-down notifications with the modifier keys. I'm using the Windows Forms NativeWindow wrapper to get Windows messages from the WndProc() method. I've tried tracking the notifications I do get, and I the only clue I see is WM_CAPTURECHANGED. I've tried calling SetCapture when I receive the WM_LBUTTONDOWN message, but it doesn't help. Without modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR WM_MOUSEMOVE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONUP With modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_KEYDOWN WM_PARENTNOTIFY WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR (repeats) WM_KEYDOWN (repeats) WM_KEYUP If I hold the mouse button down for a long time, I can usually get a WM_LBUTTONUP notification, but it should be possible to make it more responsive..   • Database indexes and their Big-O notation

    I'm trying to understand the performance of database indexes in terms of Big-O notation. Without knowing much about it, I would guess that: Querying on a primary key or unique index will give you a O(1) lookup time. Querying on a non-unique index will also give a O(1) time, albeit maybe the '1' is slower than for the unique index (?) Querying on a column without an index will give a O(N) lookup time (full table scan). Is this generally correct ? Will querying on a primary key ever give worse performance than O(1) ? My specific concern is for SQLite, but I'd be interested in knowing to what extent this varies between different databases too.

    I have a form which will include some optional questions that need to asked of the user. In my model it may look like pubic Dictionary<String, String> Questions { get; set; } where the key is the label and value is the text box. How can I create and populate controls for this? I'm new to ASP MVC, but it makes sense that something like this would be built in. Is there a built in way to do this, or do I have to implement it myself? It seems like there should be a helper for it, since you don't really want to put this kind of code in the view. I've tried Html.EditorFor(model => model.Questions); but it just spits out "[key, value]" to the view.
