• Django Upload form to S3 img and form validation

  I'm fairly new to both Django and Python. This is my first time using forms and upload files with django. I can get the uploads and saves to the database to work fine but it fails to valid email or check if the users selected a file to upload. I've spent a lot of time reading documentation trying to figure this out. • Add a custom variable to an email header already within a gmail inbox

  Hi guys - this may seem odd but I was wondering if it was possible to add custom header details to emails already in an inbox. Like lets say I wish to add in the Header of the email something like - myvariable = myvalue and then be able to query it somehow. I'm looking at code from Iloha mail and most of the details like subject and from recieved etc are in the headers and you can search through them. SO is it possible to add my own custom variable to an email header and query it in the same way? How can it be done using php? EDIT ==================== Thanks I know how you can modify the headers of sent messages plus also query for custom variables in message headers however in this case I want to know if it would be possible to add a custom variable in a recieved message already in my inbox. Actually let me define the situation here. I'm working on a google apps solution which requires maintaining references to emails. Basically the application is as such that when an email comes in - we create an order from that email and wish to maintain a reference to that EXACT email by some kind of identifier which would enable us to identify that email. The fact is that we don't want to download the emails in a database and maintain a separate store as we would want to keep all the emailing on GMAIL. We just need: A way to be able to 'link' to a specific email permanently - the UID is just a sequence number and not very reliable. We couldn't find any property of emails that could function as a unique ID or primary key and so we thought if we could instead generate a key on our end and store it in a custom variable on the email itself. However it seems unfortunately that there isn't a way to manipulate headers of an already existing email. :( is there any solution to this problem I could use any IDEA !

• Exchange Web Services and Property Sets

  I need to retrieve calendar information by invoking the Exchange Web Service in BPOS. I'm using a CalendarView with a PropertySet to retrieve as little data as possible. However, property sets seems to be limited. I need the EmailAddress of the one who made the calendar appointment so I thought I could use the AppointmentSchema.Organizer in the PropertySet. When fetching a whole Appointment I can get the e-mail through appt.Organizer.EmailAddress. But with the code below the Organizer.EmailAddress is always null. I've enabled the trace and checked it and only the Organizer.Name property is sent, nothing else. Does anyone have a solution on how to get the EmailAddress when using a PropertySet? • xp_smtp_sendmail blank space added to html randomly

  I have a proc where I generate small html doc with a link and send it out via xp_smtp_sendmail proc. Link is generated based on query results and is long. This works in most cases. However, sometimes the link gets broken due to spaces being inserted into querystring variable names, i.e. &Na me=John. This might vary between email clients(same link works in Gmail, but might not work in comcast due to spaces. The space seems to be randomly inserted, so in each broken email link space might break other querystring variables. When I do PRINT from proc the link is clean, no spaces. Here's my sample of the mail proc being executed within main proc(that gets query results and generates html for @Message). The space seems to be inserted regardless of whether I encode the url or not. Thank you in advance for your help. • Create ABPerson Records in a Shared CardDAV (10.6/Server Hosted) AddressBook

  Hello, My app presently reads and writes to the local Mac OS X 10.6 client addressbook using the AddressBook.framework. It works fine. 10.6 Server introduced AddressBook Server, which 10.6 clients can connect to by setting up a CardDAV Account. User and Group records can be stored in that account, which is synchronized to the 10.6 server and made available to other clients who access the same CardDAV account. Mail.app is able to autocomplete the email addresses from accounts that are in the local datastore as well as the remote CardDAV datastore. ABPeoplePicker can see both. But, programatically, I'm not getting any CardDAV-based data returned from my queries against the shared AddressBook. I'm not sure if I need to ask it for a different AddressBook, or if I need to modify my fetch-request to indicate that I want it to be able to use the shared data too. My goal is to adapt the current code so that it can read/write to the CardDAV account too, instead of just the local addressbook. Thoughts?

  Hi, I am using the jquery validation plugin and want to use the errorPlacement function to add error messages to the fields title attribute and display just a ? next to the field. This works great when the form is submitted with the submit button but when any of the following events are triggered: - onfocusout - click - onkeyup The validation checks are run but it skips the errorPlacement function and adds the full error message after the field, like the default behaviour. • Android - need UI help/advice

  I have been working on Android for the past couple of months getting to know how various components work. One area I am completely lacking in knowledge is any sort of User Interface or graphical interface creation. As an excercise I have been asked to break down the HTC call screen into what components it contains and rebuild as close as possible. Here is a picture of the HTC call screen: From my understanding the above UI has a custom title bar where "Meteor" and the call time appears. Then the main image in the middle block along with a text view showing the called party, in this case "Voice Mail" and the number. The bottom is then a custom view maybe with three custom buttons used within it. Would I be correct in my above assumptions? So the parts I should look into start programming are a custom title bar and a custom view with three custom buttons to place at the bottom? What layout would be reccomended? I hope this question is seen as relative to Stack Overflow, if it is not then I will delete it. Thanks in advance

• NSOperationQueue bug with dependencies

  I am using NSOperation and NSOperationQueue for performing a sequence of operations, all dependent on each other (2 on 1, 3 on 2, etc...). I set the dependency after I create the operations. I am encountering problems when the queue completes: the program crashes in the _release part of the code, apparently when the NSOperations are getting released. Note that they all get released at the end by the queue, because it is only after the very last one which depends on the second last one, which depends on etc... that they can be released. If I remove any dependency, the code runs fine. If I change waitUntilFinished: to NO, it crashes, if it is YES, it does not. I have isolated the problem to the following code which does not use any of my custom classes. NSOperation by default is a class that does absolutely nothing. Yet, this still crashes when all operations have completed. Therefore, it appears I am not using NSOperationQueue properly but can't see what is wrong. I am running on 10.9 and I have noticed that in general Maverick 10.9 is much more sensitive to these issues than 10.8. • Sending email with attachments from C#, attachments arrive as Part 1.2 in Thunderbird

  I have a C# application which emails out Excel spreadsheet reports via an Exchange 2007 server using SMTP. These arrive fine for Outlook users, but for Thunderbird and Blackberry users the attachments have been renamed as "Part 1.2". I found this article which describes the problem, but doesn't seem to give me a workaround. I don't have control of the Exchange server so can't make changes there. Is there anything I can do on the C# end? I have tried using short filenames and HTML encoding for the body but neither made a difference. • Majordomo/Mailman - Yahoo/Google Groups

  Hi. Not an app question, but thought that I might ask here anyway! The responses might help someone. I've got an app where we're going to be dealing with 5000-10000 people in a group/pool. Periodically, different subsets of people will break off in their own group. I'm looking for thoughts on how to manage/approach this situation. (For now, all of this is being managed on a few servers in the garage, with dynamic IP) I've looked into the Yahoo/google groups, and they seem to be reasonable. The primary issue that I see with this approach, is that I don't have a good way of quickly/easily alowing a subset of the group to form their own group for a given project. This kind of function is critical. The upside to this though, I wouldn't have to really set anything up. And the hosted groups could send emails to the user all day along, without running into cap/bandwidth limits The other approach is a managed list, like mailman/majordomo. This approach appears to be more flexible, and looks like ti could be modified to handle the quick creation of lists, allowing users to quickly be assigned to different lists on the fly.. The downside, I'd have to run my own Mailman/Majordomo instance, as well as the associated mail server. Or I could look at possibly using one of the hosted service.. But this is for a project on the cheap, so we're really trying to keep costs down. Thoughts/Comments/Pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance -tom

• Android SMS API

  I know that the SMS content provider is not part of the public API (at least not documented), but if I understand correctly it's still possible to use many of the SMS features as long as you know how to use the API(?). E.g it's pretty straightforward to insert an SMS into your inbox: ContentValues values = new ContentValues(); values.put("address", "+457014921911"); contentResolver.insert(Uri.parse("content://sms"), values); Unfortunately this does not trigger the standard "new-SMS-in-your-inbox" notification. Is it possible to trigger this manually? Edit: AFAIK the "standard mail application (Messaging)" in Android is listening for incoming SMSes using the android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS permission. And then, when a new SMS has arrived, a status bar notification is inserted with a "special" notification id. So one solution to my problem (stated above) could be to find, and send the correct broadcast intent; something like "NEW SMS HAS ARRIVED"-intent. Edit: Downloaded a third party messaging application (chompsms) from Android market. This application satisfies my needs better. When i execute the code above the chompsms notice the new sms and shows the "standard status bar notification". So I would say that the standard Android Messaging application is not detecting sms properly? Or am I wrong?

• How does GMail implement Comet?

  With the help of HttpWatch, I tried to figure out how GMail implement Comet. I Login in GMail with two account, one in IE and the other in Firefox. Chatting in GTalk in GMail with some magic words like "WASSUP". Then, I logoff both GMail accounts, filter any http content without "WASSUP" string. The result shows which HTTP request is the streaming channel. (Note: I have to logoff. Otherwise, never-ending HTTP would not show content in HttpWatch.) The result is interesting. The URL for stream channel is like: https://mail/channel/bind?VER=8&at=xn3j33vcvk39lkfq..... There is no surprise that GMail do Comet in IE with IFRAME. The Http content starts with " Originally, I guessed that GMail do Comet in Firefox with multipart XmlHttpRequest. To my surprise, the response header doesn't have "multipart/x-mixed-replace" header. The response headers are as below: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2010 01:52:39 GMT X-Frame-Options: ALLOWALL Transfer-Encoding: chunked X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff Server: GSE X-XSS-Protection: 0 Unfortunately, the HttpWatch doesn't tell whether a HTTP request is from XmlHttpRequest or not. The content is not HTML but JSON. It looks like a response for XHR, but that would not work for Comet without multipart/x-mixed-replace, right? • MFMailComposeViewController hangs my app

  Hi, I am trying to add email functionality to my app. I can get the MFMailComposeViewController to display correctly and pre-populate its subject and body, but for some reason when the user clicks on the "Cancel" or "Send" buttons in the nav bar the app just hangs. I inserted a NSLog() statement into the first line of mailComposeController"didFinishWithResult:error and it doesn't even print that line out to the console. Does anybody have an idea what would cause the MFMailComposeViewController to hang like that? But when it involved with advanced dynamic ajax control (like ajaxControlToolkit or Telerik controls) that have javascripts inside them This method of injecting the html code to the .InnerHtml property of div tag (for example) IS NOT WORKING , and I red about it that The browser need to load the script on load and after that it won't iterperate the scripts injectd via .InnerHtml. So I attached here example of delay load project (from encosia.com by dave ward) with my modification (look at DefaultPopup.aspx and beforePopup.aspx and AfterPopup.aspx) Which I modified the RssReader to show listview with popup items (which is implemented via ACT HoverMenuExtender ) So in the regular way the popup items are shown right , but on the delay load which is done by creating virtual page for rendering the html and injecting it to .InnerHtml property – This ISN'T WORKING.   Okay here it is : I have built an c# console app that downloads email, save attachments , and stores the subject, from, to, body to a MS SQL Database. I use aspNetPOP3 Component to do this. I have build a front end ASP.NET application to search and view the messages. Works great. Next Steps (this is where I need help ): Now I want my users (of the asp.net app) to reply to this message send the email to the originator, and tread any additional replies back and forth on from that original message(like basecamp). This would allow my end user not to have to log-in to a system, they just continue using email (our users can as well). The question is what should I use to determine if messages are related? Subject line I think is a bad approach. I believe the best method i've seen so far is way basecamp does it, but I'm not sure how that is done, here is a real example of the reply to address from a basecamp email (I've changed the host name): [email protected] Basecamp obviously are prefixing the pre-pending a tracking id to the email address, however , when I try this with my mail service, it's rejected.   I think it would be very useful to create client side form validation up on the symfony2 Form and Validator components. The best way to do this would be to pass the validation constraints to the form view. With that information it would be possible to make a template that renders a form field to something like this: <div> <label for="form_email">E-Mail</label> <input id="form_email" type="text" name="form[email]" value="" data-validation-constraints='["NotBlank":{},"MinLength":{"limit":6}]' /> </div> The JavaScript part then would be to find all <input> elements that have the data-validation-constraints attribute and create the correct validation for them. To pass the validation constraints to the form view i thought the best way would be to create a form type extension. That's the point of my Question: Is this the correct way? And how is this possible?   I have a client whose desire is to have her Wordpress blog show a MailChimp form on her home page as a gateway to a .pdf. I need the following behavior to occur when the user clicks "Submit": execute the included MailChimp's javascript file; this ensures the form was properly filled, and then performs the sign-up to the newsletter list (don't need help with this part) then show the user an informational PDF for download or viewing EDIT: The logical order was flipped from when I originally posted this. The script should execute, and only if the script gets executed properly should the PDF show to the user Note: My experience level with HTML and PHP is 3/4, and with JS I am 2/4 EDIT: (seems more like 1/4 at this point lol). If my research is correct, PHP (server-side language) would be used to do that which the client wants. Additional validation is not necessary beyond what MailChimp's script provides (it ensures that user has submitted a completed form) is not necessary in this case (the client says it's ok if the e-mail isn't valid at all).
