• Can I accesss an external file when testing an R package?

  I am using the testthat package to test an R package that is within a larger repository. I would like to test the contents of a file outside of the R package. Can I reference a file that is located outside of an R package while testing? What I have tried A reproducible example can be downloaded as MyRepo.tar.gz My repository is called "myRepo", and it includes an R package, "myRpkg" and a folder full of miscellaneous scripts ~/MyRepo/ ~/MyRepo/MyRpkg ~/MyRepo/Scripts The tests in "MyRpkg" are in the /tests/ folder ~/myRepo/myRpkg/tests/test.myscript.R And I want to be able to test a file in the Scripts folder: ~/MyRepo/Scripts/myscript.sh I would like to read the script to test the contents of the first line doing something like this: check.script <- readLines("../../../Scripts/myscript.sh")[1] expect_true(grepl("echo", check.script)) This works fine if I start from the MyRepo directory: cd ~/MyRepo R CMD check MyRpkg But if I move to another directory, it fails: cd R CMD check MyRepo/MyRpkg

• web-development: how do you usually handle the "under costruction" page"?

  hi, I was wondering what's the best way to switch a website to a temporary "under costruction" page and switch it back to the new version. For example, in a website, my customer decided to switch from Joomla to Drupal and I had to create a subfolder for the new CMS, and then move all the content to the root folder. 1) Moving all the content back to the root folder always create some problems with file permissions, links, etc... 2) Creating a rewrite rule in .htaccess or forward with php is not a solution because another url is shown including the top folder. 3) Many host services do not allow to change the root directory, so this is not an option since I don't have access to apache config file.   Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?

• best way to access/create SITE_ROOT and SERVER_ROOT values in PHP?

  I need 2 different paths, one for includes and one for js/css etc. I'm using mod_rewrite. The below works fine.... Currently all my files contain this at the top define('SERVER_ROOT', 'C:/wamp/www/site_folder/'); define('SITE_ROOT', 'http://localhost/site_folder/'); and then files are called like so: require_once SERVER_ROOT . 'st_wd_assets/inc/func_st_wd.php'; <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo SITE_ROOT;?>st_pages/user_area/css/user_area.css" media="screen"/> as you can probably see, it's going to be a massive chore to update the top of every file everytime i move versions between the localhost and my live server. What's the best/standard way of defining these ROOT values? I can't see a solution in the $_SERVER super global? Do people normally just use VirtualHosts? But then wouldn't it still be necessary to define ROOT constants?

• Which PHP IDE would you use on Windows, if you're used to TextMate on the Mac?

  Until now, most of my PHP development had been done on a Mac in TextMate. For a new client I need to work on a secured windows box, and I was wondering which IDEs I should be looking at, as someone used to working with TextMate. I've tried the 'E' editor, and I'm unconvinced. I've tried IDEs on the Mac, and they always seem like poor relations... but given that I'm having to move development platforms anyway, is there something better I should be looking at? Are there any decent text editors out there that I'm missing?

• GeoCoordinateWatcher doesnt fire the event at given intervals

  I have the below code which fires the GeoCoordinateWatcher PositionChanged event for every 0.5 meteres .It might be less.But thats my requirement. The issue is when i am walking with phone doesnt fire the event at every 0.5 meters instead it fires the event after 0.5 meters randomly.And sometimes when i move fast it fires few events one after another immediately. • Disabling click or mousedown event on jQuery UI Slider

  I am trying to disable the click or mousedown event on the Slider tract. I want the slider to only move by dragging the handle. I tried adding preventDefault() and return false to the slider but no use. Its still triggering the jump. But when i create flash animation then attach to tiles-based character of my game's project i have a problem. Because of tiles-based game with fixed tile sizes and my character animation have each width and height size for each frame. When i attach animation to character code. Example , with my game if i press key to move character , then my character will playing "moving" frame , because of this frame animation have difference width and height then my game function check collisions fail , I want to ask you how can i solve this problem ?. • How to organize Windows Phone code base to target both 7.x and 8 platforms

  I took over a Windows Phone project which was previously targeting WP 7.1 platform, and with the recent announcement of the new platform it should target WP 8 as well. My VS 2010 solution consists on several projects (Data access, Model, Tests and WP7 client app) and i am wandering on how to include support for WP8. I have to note that the code-base is not compatible with WP8, due to usage of Toolkit controls and other 3rd party libraries targeted for WP7.1 specifically. Also there is another problem with the Visual Studio versions - WP7.1 can work with VS 2010, but WP8 requires VS 2012. Should i move the whole code-base to VS 2012? Any good advice on how to organize code-base in a most meaningful way in order to avoid duplication and possible painful maintenance? I am thinking between one solution - multiple projects vs. multiple solutions - reusable projects approach. Code duplication (like two separate folders/solutions) should be the least possible approach (fallback).

  Hi all, In Ubuntu, I am running 2 'C' applications, When I press key up/down the applications are alternatively getting the events. What might be the problem/solution? Ex: I have 'A application' and 'B application', I launch 'A application' and press the key up/down its working fine. If I simultaneously launch 'B application' and focus is on 'B application' then pressing key up/down will toggle between 'A application' & 'B application' so 2 times I have to press the key to move on 'B application'(focus is on 'B application'). • UITableView with multiple selections

  I have a UITableView with multiple selections enabled. If I select items and scroll the list back and forth they are remembered and shown and selected (blue background). Using the didDeselectRowAtIndexPath and didSelectRowAtIndexPath I am able to keep my own array of selected items. That part works well. However, if I then use the sectionForSectionIndexTitle and jump to a letter, the selection appears to be forgotten - even indexPathForSelectedRows appears to have been reset and is now empty. My own array remembers that an item is selected and I can set the cell.selected in the cellForRowAtIndexPath but the instant I move the list it is forgotten again. Any ideas? Is this a bug, or how do you retain the selection list when jumping to a letter?

  Ok so I'm developing a WPF application that makes heavy use of SQL Server. I've been asked to create an installer package that checks whether the client already has SQL Server Express 2005 already installed, his operating system (64bit Vs x86) and install the required SQL Server instance if needed. I'm then required to automatically map my App.config's connection string to the SQL Server's connection string and run a script to create my database. Is it just me, or does this look like a lot of hard work? Any idea where to start? Edit: Ok should I move to SQL Server Compact edition? Thanks!

I have to read the lines from exit after the execution of this application but it says "permission denied", as if the its not been done correctly. I've been thinking over a time and I can not move forward. Steps: Clear cache tables (Site Configuration Performance Clear Cached Data button) on localhost Export db and then import on live server Move files/folders to live server Edit settings.php to reflect live server config everything is working great until I make Clear Cached Data on Server. than my custom theme, custom front page, etc... all mess up :( What can be the problem? I appreciate helps so much!! Thanks! !!SORTED!! I used a subtheme for Zen, named mgf . then I had taken a back-up as mgf- somehow after I make Clear Cached Data, Drupal links to this mgf- which is old and doesnt have latest stylings. I just removed this folder from themes, and it linked to the right-latest mgf.

  I'm trying to work out how to enlarge all elements on a page, but keep the centre of enlargement in the centre of the window. Example Page (up and down arrows to resize the image, you can also drag the image around) On this page, once the image reaches the top or the left side of the window the centre of enlargement changes. It also changes when you move the image. (exactly what you would expect) I'm thinking I'd need to take a completely different approach to achieve what I want. But I'm not sure what that approach is.. Any ideas?

• C++ - How to efficiently find out if any string in a vector can be assembled from a set of letters

  Hello, everyone! I am implementing a text-based version of Scrabble for a college project. I have a vector containing around 400K strings (my dictionary), and, at some point in every turn, I'm going to have to check if there's still a word in the dictionary which can be formed with the pieces in the player's hand. I'm checking if the player has any move left... If not, it's game over for the player in question... My only solution to this is iterating through the string, one by one, and using a sub-routine I have to check if the string in question can be formed from the player's pieces. I'll implement a quickfail checking if the user has any vowels, but it'll still be woefully inefficient. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time!

  Hi, I'm using JQuery to select some elements on a page and then move them around in the DOM. The problem I'm having is I need to select all the elements in the reverse order that JQuery naturally wants to select them. For example: <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li>Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> <li>Item 4</li> <li>Item 5</li> </ul> I want to select all the li items and use the .each() command on them but I want to start with Item 5, then Item 4 etc. Is this possible? • Weird behaviour of jquery's hide/show with the 'slide' effect. How to change?

  When doing $('.mydiv').show('slide', {direction:up}, 1500); //syntax may be a little off jQuery seems to - just before starting the animation - make room for the soon to be showed div. This creates a non-smooth effect making all elements below the showed div shift away in one big go. I would like to see the elements below the div move away as the div is animated/showed. The jQuery native hide()/show() function works like this, how come the slide effect of hide/show doesn't? Anyone knows how to fix it?

However when I move it over to a test this returns null: var masterKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("path_to_my_key"); So my question is: Does Visual Studio run Tests with a less privileged process? I tested to see what user this gave me: var x = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name; and it gives me the same as in the console application. So I am a bit confused here.
