  • Django refresh page if change data by other user

    I have a test django app. In one page the test show the same question to all users. I'd like that when a user answers correctly, send a signal to other active user's browser to refresh to the next question. I have been learning about signals in django I learning work with them but I don't now how send the "refresh signal" to client browser. I think that it can do with a javascript code that check if a certain value (actual question) change and if change reload the page but I don't know this language and the information that I find was confused.     I'm trying to get my head around OOP in Python and I'm a bit confused when it comes to declare variables within a class. Should I declare them inside of the __init__ procedure or outside it?     Suppose I have a function which can either take an iterable/iterator or a non-iterable as an argument. Iterability is checked with try: iter(arg). Depending whether the input is an iterable or not, the outcome of the method will be different. Not when I want to pass a non-iterable as iterable input, it is easy to do: I’ll just wrap it with a tuple. What do I do when I want to pass an iterable (a string for example) but want the function to take it as if it’s non-iterable? E.g. make that iter(str) fails.

  • If attacker has original data, and encrypted data, can they determine the passphrase?

    If an attacker has several distinct items (for example: e-mail addresses) and knows the encrypted value of each item, can the attacker more easily determine the secret passphrase used to encrypt those items? Meaning, can they determine the passphrase without resorting to brute force? This question may sound strange, so let me provide a use-case: User signs up to a site with their e-mail address Server sends that e-mail address a confirmation URL (for example: https://my.app.com/confirmEmailAddress/bill%40yahoo.com) Attacker can guess the confirmation URL and therefore can sign up with someone else's e-mail address, and 'confirm' it without ever having to sign in to that person's e-mail account and see the confirmation URL. This is a problem. Instead of sending the e-mail address plain text in the URL, we'll send it encrypted by a secret passphrase. (I know the attacker could still intercept the e-mail sent by the server, since e-mail are plain text, but bear with me here.) If an attacker then signs up with multiple free e-mail accounts and sees multiple URLs, each with the corresponding encrypted e-mail address, could the attacker more easily determine the passphrase used for encryption? Alternative Solution I could instead send a random number or one-way hash of their e-mail address (plus random salt). This eliminates storing the secret passphrase, but it means I need to store that random number/hash in the database. The original approach above does not require this extra table. I'm leaning towards the the one-way hash + extra table solution, but I still would like to know the answer: does having multiple unencrypted e-mail addresses and their encrypted counterparts make it easier to determine the passphrase used?

    I am developing a search dialog in my eclipse-rcp application. In the search dialog I have a combobox as follows: comboImp = new CCombo(grpColSpet, SWT.BORDER | SWT.READ_ONLY); comboImp.setBounds(556, 46, 184, 27); comboImpViewer = new ComboViewer(comboImp); comboImpViewer.setContentProvider(new ArrayContentProvider()); comboImpViewer.setInput(ImpContentProvider.getInstance().getImps()); comboImpViewer.setLabelProvider(new LabelProvider() { @Override public String getText(Object element) { return ((Imp)element).getImpName(); } }); Imp is a database entity, ManyToOne to the main entity which is searched, and ImpContentProvider is the model class which speaks to embedded sqlite database via jpa/hibernate. This combobox is supposed to contain all instances of Imp, but to also let empty selection; it's value is bound to a service bean as follows: IObservableValue comboImpSelectionObserveWidget = ViewersObservables.observeSingleSelection(comboImpViewer); IObservableValue filterByImpObserveValue = BeansObservables.observeValue(searchPrep, "imp"); bindingContext.bindValue(comboImpSelectionObserveWidget, filterByImpObserveValue , null, null); As soon as the user clicks on the combo, a selection (first element) is made: I can see the call to a selectionlistener i added on the viewer. My question is: after a selection has been made, how do I let the user change his mind and have an empty selection in the combobox? should I add a "fake" empty instance of Imp to the List returned by the ImpContentProvider? or should I implement an alternative to ArrayContentProvider? and one additional related question is: why calling deselectAll() and clearSelection() on the combo does NOT set a null value to the bound bean?

Could both simply use the same persistent store coordinator, or would I have to create two instances of NSPersistentStoreCoordinator?     Every Customer has a physical address and an optional mailing address. What is your preferred way to model this? Option 1. Customer has foreign key to Address Customer (id, phys_address_id, mail_address_id) Address (id, street, city, etc.) Option 2. Customer has one-to-many relationship to Address, which contains a field to describe the address type Customer (id) Address (id, customer_id, address_type, street, city, etc.) Option 3. Address information is de-normalized and stored in Customer Customer (id, phys_street, phys_city, etc. mail_street, mail_city, etc.) One of my overriding goals is to simplify the object-relational mappings, so I'm leaning towards the first approach. What are your thoughts?

  • 0/1 Knapsack with irrational weights

    Consider the 0/1 knapsack problem. The standard Dynamic Programming algorithm applies only when the capacity as well as the weights to fill the knapsack with are integers/ rational numbers. What do you do when the capacity/weights are irrational? The issue is that we can't memoize like we do for integer weights because we may need potentially infinite decimal places for irrational weights - leading to an infinitely large number of columns for the Dynamic Programming Table . Is there any standard method for solving this? Any comments on the complexity of this problem? Any heuristics? What about associated recurrences like (for example): f(x)=1, for x< sqrt(2) f(x)=f(x-sqrt(2))+sqrt(3)

My initial thought was this in my forms.py: client = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Client.objects.filter(user__username = User.username)) But it didn't work. So how else would I go about it?

  • Is there a good collection library for C-language?

    We have to maintain and even develop C-code of our legacy system. Is there good collection library that would support Java/C# (new versions) style collections. Hashtable, HashSet, etc. Of course without objects, but with structs. The HashTable key limitations to "strings" and ints is not a problem. It wouldn't be bad if it's free even for commercial use. I'm back to C from C# and I must say i'm depressed using our own libraries and the language in general. We're using VS2005 and MS C-compiler if that has nothing to do with anything.     I have the following (trimmed) markup: <asp:Repeater ID="CostCategoryRepeater" runat="server"> <ItemTemplate> <div class="costCategory"> <asp:Repeater ID="CostRepeater" runat="server" DataSource='<%# Eval("Costs")%>'> <ItemTemplate> <tr class="oddCostRows"> <td class="costItemTextRight"><span><%# Eval("Variance", "{0:c0}")%></span></td> <td class="costItemTextRight"><input id="SupplementAmount" class="costEntryRight" type="text" value='<%# Bind("SupplementAmount")%>' runat="server" /></td> </tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> The outer repeater's DataSource is set in the code-beside. I've snipped them, but there are Eval statements that wire up to the properties in the outer Repeater. Anyway, one of the fields in the inner Repeater needs to be a Bind instead of an Eval, as I want to get the values that the user types in. The SupplementAmount input element correctly receives it's value when the page loads, but on the other side, when I inspect the contents of the Costs List when the form posts back, the changes the user made aren't present.     I'm implementing a interpreter-like project for which I need a strange little scheduling queue. Since I'd like to try and avoid wheel-reinvention I was hoping someone could give me references to a similar structure or existing work. I know I can simply instantiate multiple queues as I go along, I'm just looking for some perspective by other people who might have better ideas than me ;) I envision that it might work something like this: The structure is a tree with a single root. You get a kind of "insert_iterator" to the root and then push elements onto it (e.g. a and b in the example below). However, at any point you can also split the iterator into multiple iterators, effectively creating branches. The branches cannot merge into a single queue again, but you can start popping elements from the front of the queue (again, using a kind of "visitor_iterator") until empty branches can be discarded (at your discretion). x -> y -> z a -> b -> { g -> h -> i -> j } f -> b Any ideas? Seems like a relatively simple structure to implement myself using a pool of circular buffers but I'm following the "think first, code later" strategy :) Thanks

Let say that this request/response will take more that 10 seconds, meanwhile I'll see loading image near TextBox AND the most important, I can continue to work on other fields.     I would like to have a very short / minimal example of how to create some tabular widget with different types of item in it. In the first round let's say I'd like to render [["Hello", 12, True], ["World", 13, False]] (Hello as string, 12 as number (right-align), True as a checkbox for eg.), but it would be nice to have Dates, Colors, and other type of info. Next round: editing (integer with spinbox, maybe sometimes a combobox is handy, but that may not work out of the box). There must be a simple solution, but I couldn't find...

    I'm trying to compile a binary file into a MACH_O object file so that it can be linked it into a dylib. The dylib is written in c/c++. On linux the following command is used: ld -r -b binary -o foo.o foo.bin I have tried various option on OSX but to no avail: ld -r foo.bin -o foo.o gives: ld: warning: -arch not specified ld: warning: ignoring file foo.bin, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (x86_64) An empty .o file is created ld -arch x86_64 -r foo.bin -o foo.o ld: warning: ignoring file foo.bin, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (x86_64) Again and empty .o file is created. Checking the files with nm gives: nm foo.o nm: no name list The binary file is actually, firmware that will be downloaded to an external device. Thanks for looking
