  • Validation errors are visible when I access the page before I post the form

    Hi, I have html validation using client side and server side validation. The problem is when I open the page the validation text is visible before I fill in the text box and post the form. What can I do the solve this issue?   • Infinite terrain shadows

    I'm creating an infinite terrain engine, which generates the terrain either with fractals or noise. How can I make dynamic shadows for the sun on this terrain, if I don't know in advance what will be rendered in front of the sun. My terrain: The sun is the only light, it is directional, my terrain is generated on a plane which is positioned before the camera, frustum culled and fits the size of the viewing frustum. To implement this functionality, we first need to find out where the article text should be cut to append the ... [More]. Since there must be some HTML/ CSS coupled with the article text, we must remember to ignore them when calculating the length of the text. But there is something I just can't figure it out, if more than one language is mixed in the first few lines of the article text, the length of the text will be very difficult to calculate since the characters can be of variable length. How should we solve this problem?

    I want to have a function which gets a text as the input and gives back the text with URLs made to HTML links as the output. For the input text which contains ... http://www.google.de/ ... I get the following output: <a href="http://www.google.de/<br">http://www.google.de/<br</a> /> Why does it include the line breaks? Something like SELECT @x.query('fn:max(«CAST(r/c «AS varchar(20))»)') Edit: Using Nodes the function MAX is from T-SQL no fn:max function In this code: DECLARE @x xml; SET @x = ''; SELECT @x.query('fn:max((1, 2))'); SELECT @x.query('fn:max(("First Text", "Other Text"))'); both query return expected: 2 and "Other Text" fn:max can evaluate string expression ad hoc. But the first query dont work. How to force string arguments to fn:max?

    I'm trying to replace all mentions of [b] in a text string and replace it with <b>. The problem with what I'm using below this that it's replace every [b] on the page, and I only want it to change the [b]'s within the text string ("text") that I'm sending in. Taking out the 'g' for global in the regex doesn't work very well because it then doesn't replace them all... text = text.replace(new RegExp('(^|\\s|>)\\[b](\\S.*?\\S)\\[/b]($|\\s|<)', 'gim') , '$1<strong>$2</strong>$3'); any ideas?     I have a .NET application with a StatusStrip holding three ToolTipStatusLabels. The Text of the labels are filled from the application as they show the status. For some circumstances they can hold an empty text. When I resize the window, the ToolTipStatusLabels are hidden when they cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. I would like to have the text truncated when the label cannot be fit in the StatusStrip. The default behavior to hide the label makes it difficult to distinguish between empty text or hidden label. To indicate that the text is truncated automatically, this should be indicated with an ellipsis (...). How can this be done?

    I have a table with 1.4 billion records. The table structure is as follows: CREATE TABLE text_page ( text VARCHAR(255), page_id INT UNSIGNED ) ENGINE=MYISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=ascii The requirement is to create an index over the column text. The table size is about 34G. I have tried to create the index by the following statement: ALTER TABLE text_page ADD KEY ix_text (text) After 10 hours' waiting I finally give up this approach. Is there any workable solution on this problem? UPDATE: the table is unlikely to be updated or inserted or deleted. The reason why to create index on the column text is because this kind of sql query would be frequently executed: SELECT page_id FROM text_page WHERE text = ?

  • String Encoding doesn't ouput all characters

    My client uses InputStreamReader/BufferedReader to fetch text from the Internet. However when I save the Text to a *.txt the text shows extra weird special symbols like 'Â'. I've tried Convert the String to ASCII but that mess upp å,ä,ö,Ø which I use. I've tried food = food.replace("Â", ""); and IndexOf(); But string won't find it. But it's there in HEX Editor. So summary: When I use text.setText(Android), the output looks fine with NO weird symbols, but when I save the text to *.txt I get about 4 of 'Â'. I do not want ASCII because I use other Non-ASCII character. The 'Â' is displayed as a Whitespace on my Android and in notepad. Thanks! Have A great Weekend! EDIT* found:   in Wordpad

    There was a talk given by Brian Hurt about advantages and disadvantages of static typing. Brian said that by static typing he don't mean C#, but F# and Haskell. Is it because of dynamic keyword added to C#-4.0? But this feature is relatively rarely useful. By the way, there are ? and unsafeCoerse in Haskell which obviously are not the same, but something that could blown your head off in runtime similarly like exception thrown as a result of dynamic. Finally, why F# and Haskell could be named a statically typed languages and C# couldn't?

  • ODBC Storage Size

    I'm pulling a lot of text from a MS SQL Server database. I'm not getting all the text (which includes some html. The text is stored perfectly on the database. However, when I run the query to get the data It will only pull part of the text. I pull the data using odbc_exec and store using $variable = odbc_result($runquery,"body"). if i display the content with odbc_result_all($runquery) i get part of the content. if I use echo $body; i get part of the content then some garbage and part of the text from the begining. very strange response. Is there a size limit? Any ideas what I'm missing here?
