  It's a real strange issue, the machine information below is from DXDiag. There is no error reported, but create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2 instance always failed in the machine. It's okay to create CLSID_FilterGraph. Before create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2, I have called CoInitialize and created CLSID_FilterGraph. Only this machine has the error, what dll related with this interface or any function needed to call before to make it work? Thanks in advance.   I have a script that has been running for over a year and now it is failing: It is creating a command file: open ( FTPFILE, ">get_list"); print FTPFILE "dir *.txt"\n"; print FTPFILE "quit\n"; close FTPFILE; Then I run the system command: $command = "ftp ".$Server." < get_list | grep \"\^-\" >new_list"; $code = system($command); The logic the checks: if ($code == 0) { do stuff } else { log error } It is logging an error. When I print the $code variable, I am getting 256. • [Concept] How does unlink() find the file to delete?

  My app has a 'Photo' field to store URL. It uses sfWidgetFormInputFileEditable for the widget schema. To delete the old image when a new image is uploaded, I use unlink before setting the value in the over-ridden setter and it works!!! if (file_exists($this->_get('photo'))) unlink($this->_get('photo')); Photos are stored in uploads/photos and when saving 'Photo' only the file name xxx-yyy.zzz is saved (and not the full path). However, I wish to know how symfony/php knows the full path of the file to be deleted? Part 2: I am using sfThumbnailPlugin to generate thumbnails.   Hi all, Is it possible to delete-protect a file/folder using Registry or using a custom written Windows Service in C#? Using Folder Permissions it is possible, but i am looking for a solution that even restricts the admin from deleting specific folders. The requirement is that the administrator must not be easily track the nature of protection and/or may not be able to avert it easily. Obviously all administrators will be able to revert the procedure if the technique is clearly understood. Like folder Permissions/OwnerShip Settings can easily be reset by an administrator. SO that is not an option. Folder protection software can easily be uninstalled and show clear indication that a particular folder is protected by some special kind of software. SO that too is not an option. Most antivirus programs protect folders and files in Program Dir. Windows itself doesnt allow certain files such as registry files in c:\windows\system32\config to not even copied. Such a protection is desired for folders which allowse to read and write to files but not allow deletion. Similar functionality is desired. The protection has to seemless and invisible. I do not want to use any protection features like FolderLock and Invisible secrets/PC Security and Desktop password etc. Moreover, the solution has to be something other than folder encryption. The solution has to be OS-native so ** that it may implemented ** pro grammatically using C#/VB.Net. Please help. Thanks

  Cygwin make always processing $(chrome_jar_file) target, after first successful build. So I never get up to date message and always see commands for $(chrome_jar_file) are executing. However it happens only on Windows 7. On Windows XP once it built and intact, no more builds. I narrowed down the issue to one prerequisite - $(jar_target_dir). • Eclipse Ant Builder problem

  I made a custom ant script to automatically create a jar file each time I do a build. This is how it looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <project name="TestProj" basedir="." default="jar"> <property name="dist" value="dist" /> <property name="build" value="bin/test/testproj" /> <target name="jar"> <jar destfile="${dist}/TestProj.jar"> <manifest> <attribute name="Main-Class" value="test.testproj.TestProj" /> </manifest> <fileset dir="${build}" /> </jar> </target> </project> I added it by Right clicking my project properties builders clicked new Ant builder then I specified the location of the above xml file. However, when I run it by doing: java -jar TestProj.jar I get a NoClassDefFoundError test/testproj/TestProj I'm using Eclipse in Ubuntu. TestProj is the name of the class and it's in package test.testproj I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the manifest and probably the location of the xml file as well but I'm not sure how to fix this. Any ideas?

  I sometimes need to add elements (such as a new link and image) to an existing HTML page, but I only have access to a small portion of the page far from where I need to insert elements. I want to use DOM based JavaScript techniques, and I must avoid using document.write().   I'm getting a weird instance of a NameError when attempting to use a class I wrote. In a directory, I have the following file structure: dir/ ReutersParser.py test.py reut-xxx.sgm Where my custom class is defined in ReutersParser.py and I have a test script defined in test.py. The ReutersParser looks something like this: from sgmllib import SGMLParser class ReutersParser(SGMLParser): def __init__(self, verbose=0): SGMLParser.__init__(self, verbose) ... rest of parser if __name__ == '__main__': f = open('reut2-short.sgm') s = f.read() p = ReutersParser() p.parse(s) It's a parser to deal with SGML files of Reuters articles. The test works perfectly. Anyway, I'm going to use it in test.py, which looks like this: from ReutersParser import ReutersParser def main(): parser = ReutersParser() if __name__ == '__main__': main() When it gets to that parser line, I'm getting this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\Projects\Reuters\test.py", line 34, in <module> main() File "D:\Projects\Reuters\test.py", line 19, in main parser = ReutersParser() File "D:\Projects\Reuters\ReutersParser.py", line 38, in __init__ SGMLParser.__init__(self, verbose) NameError: global name 'sgmllib' is not defined For some reason, when I try to use my ReutersParser in test.py, it throws an error that says it cannot find sgmllib, which is a built-in module. I'm at my wits' end trying to figure out why the import won't work. What's causing this NameError? I've tried importing sgmllib in my test.py and that works, so I don't understand why it can't find it when trying to run the constructor for my ReutersParser.

  Hi, I am trying to execute a program from the Java code. If I remove the "> OutputFileNames.txt" from the getRuntime().exec() method, all the file names are printed on the console just fine. But I need it to be printed to a file. Also, if I change the command to: Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "cmd \c dir > OutputFileNames.txt"); and run it on Windows, it runs and prints the results in the file perfectly fine too. I have read the other posts for executing another application from Java but none seemed to relate to my problem. I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks,

• Setting the correct orientation for scrollbars in right-to-left pages.

  I'm working with right-to-left layouts at the moment (think Hebrew or Arabic). In RTL, the page is generally flipped horizontally. However, I can't figure out how to change the orientation of the scrollbars. I would assume that the scrollbars should appear on the left side of a scrollable element, not the right side like it does in an LTR layout. Here is an example page where the scrollbar still appears on the right: <html dir="rtl"> <body> <div style="height: 100px; overflow: auto;"> <p>This is some text</p> <p>This is some text</p> <p>This is some text</p> <p>This is some text</p> <p>This is some text</p> </body> </html> Is the orientation of a scrollbar a browser locale setting, and thus is not something I should be concerned about, or is there a way to set the orientation of the scrollbar? (I'm not interested in implementing my own JavaScript scrollbar; if it turns out this is just a limitation of browsers then I'd rather live with that than add complexity to the page.)

• "This program might not have installed correctly" message in Windows 7 RC

  I have an installer that works perfectly under NT 5.x, Vista, and Windows 7. It contains the proper manifest for UAC on NT 6.x. But starting with Windows 7 RC, every time the setup program closes, Windows produces an erroneous "This program might not have installed correctly" message, even though the program did install correctly with no problems whatsoever. I never got these spurious messages in Vista or in Windows 7 beta. I sent a bug report to Microsoft, but have not heard back. I thought that this might just be a glitch in the Windows 7 RC, but the problem is still there on a fresh install of one of the very recent RTM-escrow builds that was leaked. Microsoft has no documentation whatsoever about this--not even a hint to what might possibly be triggering it. Even more frustrating is that I get this "This program might not have installed correctly" message even if I cancel the install on the very first are-you-sure-you-want-to-proceed screen before any of the installation code (creating a temp dir, extracting files, copying, registry, etc.) is ever run. Has anyone figured this one out?

• How does git fetches commits associated to a file ?

  I'm writing a simple parser of .git/* files. I covered almost everything, like objects, refs, pack files etc. But I have a problem. Let's say I have a big 300M repository (in a pack file) and I want to find out all the commits which changed /some/deep/inside/file file. What I'm doing now is: fetching last commit finding a file in it by: fetching parent tree finding out a tree inside recursively repeat until I get into the file additionally I'm checking hashes of each subfolders on my way to file. If one of them is the same as in commit before, I assume that file was not changed (because it's parent dir didn't change) then I store the hash of a file and fetch parent commit finding file again and check if hash change occurs if yes then original commit (i.e. one before parent) was changing a file And I repeat it over and over until I reach very first commit. This solution works, but it sucks. In worse case scenario, first search can take even 3 minutes (for 300M pack). Is there any way to speed it up ? I tried to avoid putting so large objects in memory, but right now I don't see any other way. And even that, initial memory load will take forever :( Greets and thanks for any help!

  I am trying to copy a file to another folder in the android, but so far, i got no success. I manage to do so with a selected image and when taking a photo, but not with files. I've read and tried several solutions passed by the community (searched over the forum and the internet), but none of it was able to solve my problem when copying. First things first. • Flattening out a lib directory using jarjar

  I'm trying to flatten out the lib directory of a project using jarjar, where it will produce a jar file with my main code and all my required libraries inside of it. I can get the project code into the jar, but I need to find a way to get every jar in the './lib/' directory extracted to the base directory of the final output jar. I don't want it flattened in the sense that I still want the package hiearchy preserved. I could manually list every jar file using zipfileset, but I was hoping to do it dynamically. I would also like to include any *.so files flattened into the base directory of the output jar so I can extract them into a temp dir easily without having to search through the jar. For example my lib directory... ./lib/library1.jar ./lib/library2.jar ./lib/foo/library3.jar ./lib/foo/bar.so would look like this when cracked open in the output jar file... /..library1_package_hierarchy../lib1.class /..library1_package_heirarchy../lib2.class ... • Log4j Logging to the Wrong Directory

  I have a relatively complex log4j.xml configuration file with many appenders. Some machines the application runs on need a separate log directory, which is actually a mapped network drive. To get around this, we embed a system property as part of the filename in order to specify the directory. Here is an example: The "${user.dir}" part is set as a system property on each system, and is normally set to the root directory of the application. On some systems, this location is not the root of the application. The problem is that there is always one appender where this is not set, and the file appears not to write to the mapped drive. The rest of the appenders do write to the correct location per the system property. As a unit test, I set up our QA lab to hard-code the values for the appender above, and it worked: however, a different appender will then append to the wrong file. The mis-logged file is always the same for a given configuration: it is not a random file each time. My best educated guess is that there is a HashMap somewhere containing these appenders, and for some reason, the first one retrieved from the map does not have the property set. Our application does have custom system properties loading: the main() method loads a properties file and calls into System.setProperties(). My first instinct was to check the static initialization order, and to ensure the controller class with the main method does not call into log4j (directly or indirectly) before setting the properties just in case this was interfering with log4j's own initialization. Even removing all vestiges of log4j from the initialization logic, this error condition still occurs.

• Reading a directory

  Hi, I'm trying to solve exercise from K&R, it's about reading directories.This task is system dependent because it uses system calls.In the book example authors say that their example is written for Version 7 and System V UNIX systems and that they used the directory information in the header < sys/dir.h,which looks like this: #ifndef DIRSIZ #define DIRSIZ 14 #endif struct direct { /* directory entry */ ino_t d_ino; /* inode number */ char d_name[DIRSIZ]; /* long name does not have '\0' */ }; On this system they use 'struct direct' combined with 'read' function to retrieve a directory entry, which consist of file name and inode number. ..... struct direct dirbuf; /* local directory structure */ while(read(dp->fd, (char *) &dirbuf, sizeof(dirbuf) == sizeof(dirbuf) { ..... } ..... I suppose this works fine on UNIX and Linux systems, but what I want to do is modify this so it works on Windows XP. Is there some structure in Windows like 'struct direct' so I can use it with 'read' function and if there is what is the header name where it is defined? Or maybe Windows requires completely different approach?

• Cygwin make always processing target

  However it happens only on Windows 7. On Windows XP once it built and intact, no more builds. I narrowed down the issue to one prerequisite - $(jar_target_dir). Here is part of the code # The location where the JAR file will be created. jar_target_dir := $(build_dir)/chrome # The main chrome JAR file. chrome_jar_file := $(jar_target_dir)/$(extension_name).jar # The root of the JAR sources. jar_source_root := chrome # The sources for the JAR file. jar_sources := bla #... some files, doesn't matter jar_sources_no_dir := $(subst $(jar_source_root)/,,$(jar_sources)) $(chrome_jar_file): $(jar_sources) $(jar_target_dir) @echo "Creating chrome JAR file." @cd $(jar_source_root); $(ZIP) ../$(chrome_jar_file) $(jar_sources_no_dir) @echo "Creating chrome JAR file.
