• clientaccesspolicy.xml not being requested via HTTPS

  I have a silverlight app that has been using http to communicate w/self-hosted WCF services during development. I am now securing the services via https. I am getting an error I had back at the beginning of the project: "An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'https://localhost:8303/service'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details." My clientaccesspolicy.xml file is setup to allow access from http://* and https://*. The only difference is using http vs https. The issue is I can usually see (via Fiddler) the clientaccesspolicy.xml file being requested, but now I cannot. I'm assuming it is failing because of this. Any ideas?

• Browser Based Streaming Video/Audio (not progressive download)

  Hello, I am trying to understand conceptually the best way to deliver real streaming audio and video content. I would want it to be consumed with a web browser, utilizing the least amount of proprietary technology. I wouldn't be serving static files and using progressive download, this would be real audio streams being captured live. How does one broadcast a stream that will be reasonably in sync with the source? What kind of protocol is suitable? Edit: In research I've found that there are a few protocols: RTSP, HTTP Streaming, RTMP, and RTP. HTTP streaming is somewhat unsuitable if you are streaming a live performance/communication of some kind because it relies on TCP (as its HTTP based) and you don't lose packets. In a low bandwidth situation, the client can get significantly behind in playback. ref RTMP is a proprietary technology, requiring flash media server. Crap on that. The reason I looked at flash is because they are extremely flexible as far as user experience goes. SoundManager2 provides an excellent javascript interface for playing media with flash. This is what I would look for in a client application. RTSP/RTP is what Microsoft switched to using, deprecating their MMS protocol. RTSP is the control protocol. Its similar to HTTP with a few distinct difference -- server can also talk to the client, and there are additional commands, like PAUSE. Its also a stateful protocol, which is maintained with a session id. RTP is the protocol for delivering the payload (encoded audio or video). There are a few open sourced projects, one of them being supported by apple here. It seems like this might do what I want it to, and it looks like quite a few players support it. It sounds like it would be suitable for a "live" broadcast from this page here. Thanks, Josh

  Hello Stackoverflow I have a code design question that have been torbeling me for a while, you see I’m doing a refactoring of my website Cosplay Denmark, a site where cospalyers can upload images of them self in their costumes. The original site was done in php, Zend MVC, but my refactoring is being done in ASP.NET MVC 2. If you take the site http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/ (You can switch to English in the left column (Sprog)) Here you see a list of all the anime’s we have on the site with images, we show the name, how many different characters and how many images there are under this anime. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach If you click on an anime will you get a list of characters within the given anime which we have images in, here do we show the character name, how many galleries and how many images. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach/Ichigo_Kurosaki/ If you click on the character name, will you get a list of the galleries under the given character in the given anime. Here we have some information about the gallery, such as image count. http://www.cosplaydanmark.dk/Costumes/Bleach/Ichigo_Kurosaki/Admi/ Should you click the gallery do you get a list of the images in the gallery. My database look like this at the moment. As you can might imagine there are a lot of different query’s to create the site, on the first site I need to do a select on the on the “animes” table and for each result, I need to do a count select on characters and galleries. My plan to create this will be one of the following Where the IList, would be a lazy load list. But I can’t decide what would be the best solution for this would be, also if there is a better way of doing this. My priority is to have good performance with a minimum lose of features and code upkeep. I’m using a service pattern with a linq to sql repository. My design is not absolute, I’m willing to change it if it could increase performance :D I hope that I have describe my question good enough for you to understand what I mean, but ask away if there are anything I have missed.

• JAXB: How to avoid repeated namespace definition for xmlns:xsi

  I have a JAXB setup where I use a @XmlJavaTypeAdapter to replace objects of type Person with objects of type PersonRef that only contains the person's UUID. This works perfectly fine. However, the generated XML redeclares the same namespace (xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance") every time it's used. While this is generally okay, it just doesn't feel right. How can I configure JAXB to declare xmlns:xsi at the very beginning of the document? Can I manually add namespace declarations to the root element? • Silverlight, WCF service, integrated security AND ssl/https not possible?

  I have this setup that works perfectly when using http. A silverlight 3 client .net 4 WCF service hosted in IIS with basicHttpBinding and using integrated security on the site When setting https to required on the website the setup stops working. Using the wcftestclient on the uri I get the message: The HTTP request is unauthorized with client authentication scheme 'Anonymous'. The authentication header received from the server was 'Negotiate,NTLM'. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Maybe this makes sense because the wcftestclient does not pass credentials? in the web.config the security mode for the service binding is set is set to 'Transport'. The silverlight client is created like this: BasicHttpBinding basicHttpBinding = new BasicHttpBinding(); basicHttpBinding.Security.Mode = BasicHttpSecurityMode.Transport; var serviceClient = new ImportServiceClient(basicHttpBinding, serviceAddress); The service address is ofcourse starting with https:// And the silverlight client reports this error: The provided URI scheme 'https' is invalid; expected 'http'. Parameter name: via Remember, swithing it back to http (and setting security mode to 'TransportCredentialOnly' makes everything working again. Is the setup I want even supported? If so, how should it be configured?

• GlassFish can't find persistence provider for EntityManager

  Hi, I am building Spring MVC project (2.5). It runs on GlassFish v3 server and I am using Hibernate for ORM mapping from Derby database. I am having trouble with deployment - GlassFish says : No Persistence provider for EntityManager named mvcspringPU. • Looped jQuery slideshow with smooth cross-fades

  I'm trying to do a simple rotating image on the home page. Under the hood I'm reading a directory and then populating urls for the images into an array. What I want to do is cross-fade the images. If it was just a matter of showing the next one, it's easy, but since I need to cross-fade, it's a bit harder. I think what I want to do is do the fades by calling animate() on the opacity value of the <img> tag, and in between swapping out the css background-image property of the enclosing <div>. But the results are not that great. I've used tools for more full featured slideshows, but I don't want the overhead of adding a plugin if I can avoid it, and a simple crossfade seems like it should be easier. • Com server build using Python on 64-bit Windows 7 machine

It has worked fine on 32 bit Windows but not working on 64 bit Windows 7. Here are the Python modules I have created for testing: test_icon_overlay.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0002.obj ) com server created in Python for icon overlay which adds check mark overlay icon(C:\icons\test.ico) on "C:\icons" folder setup_VI.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0003.obj ) setup file which creates test_icon_overlay.dll for distribution. icons.zip: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0001.zip ) for testing you should extract icons.zip inside C:\ Icon overlay appears on C:\icons folder when I execute python test_icon_overlay.py on Windows command prompt and restarts explorer.exe. But its not working with the dll file created using setup_VI.py I have created dll file using python setup_VI.py py2exe and then tried to register it using regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll. Registration fails with windows error message Error 0x80040201 while registering shell extension. Then I turned on logger in Python27/Lib/site-packages/py2exe/boot_com_servers.py and here is the traceback which I am getting in comerror.txt on regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll PATH is ['C:\\root\\avalon\\module\\sync\\python\\src\\dist\\library.zip'] Traceback (most recent call last): File "boot_com_servers.py", line 37, in <module> pywintypes.error: (126, 'GetModuleFileName', 'The specified module could not be found.') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> NameError: name 'DllRegisterServer' is not defined Looks like there might be a problem with win32api.GetModuleFileName(sys.frozendllhandle) or with the dll build on 64-bit Windows 7. Also, I saw that installation of pywin32-214.win-amd64-py2.7 on 64-bit Windows 7 finish with the error message: Snapshot close failed in file object destructor: sys.excepthook is missing lost sys.stderr Is there anything which I am doing wrong? Any help on this is highly appreciated.

• ASP.NET MVC, areas, routing and a controller factory.

  Hi, I've an interesting problem with some routing with an ASP.NET MVC app. I'm building a CMS and I've got a catch-all handler that takes the URL and checks to see if there's some matching content in a database. If so, it displays it, otherwise we get a 404. Now I've got all that working with some test data, I moved on to write a quick admin system. I thought I'd use some of the new Area functionality baked into MVC 2, so I've created an area called Admin with a controller called Home. Now however I have a problem of the default HomeController in the Admin Area is being returned when requesting the application root path. The problem is that there is no other HomeController for the 'root' application (the one hosting all of the areas), instead the root would be redirected to the my catch-all handler and populated from the database. So now the controller factory is returning the best matching controller, which it thinks is the admin area one, what I really need is for it to not match it at all - as it did previously. Apart from renaming the Admin HomeController to something else, is there another solution?

• Android fragments problems different layouts

  I have two layouts: one for portait with one container and another for landscape with two containers. • Percent-Encoded Percent in URI

  In our application, it is possible for a user to upload files then download them later. We don't restrict them from having any special characters in the file name. The problem comes in when we create the link for the user to download the file. I use the Java URL encoder to encode the file name that gets put into the href of the link, but I'm still having problems with percent (%) signs. For example, if the user uploads a file named fi%le.jpg, the href that gets generated is fi%25le.jpg, and everything is fine. The problem is when the percent sign is right before the period (i.e., file%.jpg, which gets converted to file%25.jpg). When the user clicks on the link, they get a 404 (Not Found) error. The strange thing is that it is not a problem if the two characters following the percent sign are hex characters.... Weird, eh? Any help is appreciated. I am using Tomcat/Struts. Could the built-in URL decoder have anything to do with this problem?

• Binding WPF ComboBox in XAML - Why is it Empty?

  I am trying to learn how to bind my simple database (.sdf) to a combobox. I created a dataset with my tables in it. I then dragged a table from the DataSource onto my control. I have dragged datagrids from the DataSource as well, but they are not populated either. Any idea?

• Developing a rich internet application

  Hello, I have been a desktop developer for a few years mostly doing object oriented stuff. I am trying to branch out into web development, and as a hobby project trying to put a web application together. I have been reading quite alot of information, but I still can't seem to decide on the path to take and would really like some advice. Basically, I want to build something like this: http://mon.itor.us/ I have found this as well: http://www.trilancer.com/jpolite/#t1 But so far it is of little use as I am trying to grasp Javascript. I have been using visual studio for that, is that a good IDE for this tye of thing or should I try expression blend? Jpolite seems to do everything with javascript, which seems kind of cool, but I if I want to make a chart inside a widget that connects to a database, do I need something more? Is this where ASP.NET comes in? I am familiar with .NET, but if I use ASP.NET for my website, do I have to host it on IIS and windows server as opposed to Apache since mono is still being ironed out? Because that would cost more, so would PHP be a better choice? Also, for charting these guys as well as google seem to use flex: http://www.google.com/finance I have found this: http://www.reynoldsftw.com/2009/03/javascript-chart-alternatives/ Would that be sufficient to implement something like google fiance purely in javascript or is there a good reason they use flex?   I'm building a web service which uses MessageContracts, because I want to add custom fields to my SOAP header. In a previous topic, I learned that a composite response has to be wrapped. For this purpose, I devised a generic ResponseWrapper class. The problem is that a hash is added to the end of ServiceResultOfHCCertificateRequestzSOTD_SSj. How do I need define my generic return types in order for the client type to be generated as expected (without the hash)?

• ruby gem not found although it is installed

  I found some similar problems here on SO, but none seem to match my case (sorry if I overlooked). Here's my problem: I installed oauth-plugin gem to ruby gems dir, but trying to use it in rails app tells me that it's not being found. When the interent and html was new, one could find examples of how to build a website on a few trusted web sites. The same web sites might not be the best choice for looking for examples for Silverlight, I guess. What are the best web sites where you can look at examples -- and most importantly -- look at the source code of some examples of Silverlight? Back when MFC existed as a option that programmers might use to develop windows applications, a coder could look at a huge list of sample code and step through that code to find something that somewhat did what he was looking for and use that example code to build his own app. Is there anything like that for Silverlight? • Is there any way to access files in your source tree in Android?

  Hi all, This is a bit unorthodox but I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to access files stored in the src tree of my applications apk in Android. I'm trying to use i-Jetty (Jetty implementation for Android) and rather than use it as a separate application and manually download my war file, I'd rather just bake i-jetty in. However, in order to use (easily) standard html/jsp I need to be able to give it a document root, preferably within my application's apk file. I know Android specifically works to prevent you from accessing (freely) the stuff on the actual system so this may not be possible, but I'm thinking it might be possible to access something within the apk. One option to work around this would be to have all of the files stored in the res directory and then copy them to the sdcard on startup but this wouldn't allow me to automatically remove the files on uninstall. To give you an idea of what I've tried, currently, the html files are stored in org.webtext.android Context rootContext = new Context(server_, "/", Context.SESSIONS); rootContext.setResourceBase("org/webtext/webapp"); Returns a 404 error. final URL url = this.getClassLoader().getResource("org/webtext/webapp"); Context html = new WebAppContext(url.toExternalForm(), "/"); Blows up with a NullPointerException because no URL is returned from the getResource call.   I am using zend framework. Now I want to authenticate users with other already registered accounts using RPX. I am following the 3 steps as described at RPX site: 1- Get the Widget 2- Receive Tokens 3- Choose Providers I created a controller(person) and action(signin) to show widget and my own signin form. When following action (http://test.dev/#person/personsignin) is called then my own login form and widget is shown successfully. # is used in above URL for AJAX indication. public function personsigninAction() { $this->view->jsonEncoded = true; // Person Signin Form $PersonSigninForm = new Form_PersonSignin(); $this->view->PersonSigninForm = $PersonSigninForm; $this->view->PersonSigninForm->setAction( $this->view->url() ); $request = $this->getRequest(); if ( $request->isPost() ) { } } There are two problems while login using openid widget: When I am authenticated from outside(for example: Yahoo) then I am redirected to http://test.dev, therefor indexAction in called in indexController and home page is shown. I want to redirect to http://test.dev/#person/personsignin after authentication and want to set session in isPost() condition of personsigninAction() (described above). For now I consider indexAction to be called when outside authentication is done. Now I posted the code from http://gist.github.com/291396 in indexAction to follow step 3 mentioned above. But it is giving me following error: An error occured: Invalid parameter: apiKey Am I using the right way to use this. This is my very first attempt to this stuff. Can someone tell me the exact steps using my above actions? Thanks.

• Apache Tomcat under Windows: Changing webapps default directory

  I am deploying my Java application with Ant. Unfortunately my test deployment on the local machine doesn't work because of Vista. The Program Files directionaries are protected and i don't want to start Ant or Eclipse as an Admin. So i had the idea to move my webapps folder to a workspace subfolder, so i can use relative paths in Ant as well. The solutions seems to be to modify the Host element in the server.xml. With Linux it isn't such a deal: <Host name="localhost" appBase="/path/to/webapps" unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="true" xmlValidation="false" xmlNamespaceAware="false"> But with Windows i don't get it right. I tried every possible combinations i could imagine, like: C://Users//maerch//Workspaces//Tomcat6.0_webapps C:/Users/maerch/Workspaces/Tomcat6.0_webapps C:\Users\maerch\Workspaces\Tomcat6.0_webapps C:\\Users\\maerch\\Workspaces\\Tomcat6.0_webapps C://Users//maerch//Workspaces//Tomcat6.0_webapps\\ C:/Users/maerch/Workspaces/Tomcat6.0_webapps/ C:\Users\maerch\Workspaces\Tomcat6.0_webapps\ C:\\Users\\maerch\\Workspaces\\Tomcat6.0_webapps\\ The path is also correct, but it doesn't work. There are also no error messages in the log files neither the browser shows a 404 message or anything else. Just a white page without title and so on. Can anyone help?
