    I hope this is the appropriate stackexchange to post this question. EDIT: I'm attempting to replace faulty ram and am trying to understand the meanings of the label to make correct decision. I have a 2gb stick of ram which appears to have gone bad. It is a SAMSUNG Top line: 2GB 1Rx8 PC3-10600U-9-10-A0 The part number: M378B5773CH0-CH9 1051 Doing a number of searches, I end up here: http://www.reusetek.com/samsung-m378b5773ch0-ch9-1110-4gb-2x2gb-1rx8-pc310600u-09-10-a0-ddr3-desktop-memory/ M378B5773CH0-CH9 1110 Notice there is a difference: 1051 OR 1110 What is the meaning of the part number, and the last 4 digits? Is this a significant difference, and one that affects the machine?

  • Is there any CSS selector to reach an element outside of the current container?

    (And excuse me for my bad english, for starters...) Sorry if this is a noob question, but I really don't know if the following is possible. I'm doing a html5 portfolio. I'm following a tuto from codrops to visually filter works with only css3 (http://tympanus.net/codrops/2012/01/09/filter-functionality-with-css3/). There, user can select which category want to see with some <input type="radio">'s. But those selectors are under the same container (a <section>) and give visibility for the elements via CSS using a general sibling combinator (~).   • PC shuts down when installing ubuntu?

    I'm now using ubuntu from USB, and I'd like to install ubuntu on my hard disk. I tried the option of removing Vista while installing ubuntu. However, near the end of the installation process (presumably the end because I can see some slideshows on how to start using ubuntu), the screen suddenly goes to black with white words running around on it. Soon the computer shuts down. After that, restarting leads to a black screen with only a small white cursor on the top left corner. The cursor keeps blinking and nothing happens. I found that I can alternatively choose to boot with USB by hitting F12 just when the computer starts. So I tried to reinstall ubuntu by running ubuntu on USB. One of the options of installation is to update ubuntu 11.04 to ubuntu 11.04, so it seems the ubuntu is already installed somehow. Anyways, I tried both update and delete and install option but the same thing happens as the 1st time (sometimes before reaching the end), while I still cannot start my PC as ubuntu (without USB). How may I install ubuntu properly?

  • Unity no longer loads in 13.04 for main user

    When Ubuntu starts up, Unity fails to load (I can only see my desktop with no unity sidebar and no system bar in the top right). I tried the advice of Unity does not start in Ubuntu 13.04 which recommended the following commands: dconf reset -f /org/compiz/ unity --reset-icons &disown I ran the commands without errors an restarted the computer, but the problem persists. I am currently running Gnome. I have looked at other pages from the Google search "ubuntu unity failed to load 13.04", but the advice was similar to above and seems to be concerned with a system upgrade in April 18, 2013. I suspect my issue is something far more recent. Please give me advice on how to restore Unity on my account or at least figure out what the problem is. Thank you. Some information that might be relevant: -Unity has worked fine on 13.04 for the 6 months that I've had it until today. (November 10, 2013) -I have set up the update tool to automatically update when available. It is very possible that the system applied some updates without my knowledge. -Interestingly, Unity works fine on the Guest account. -I have made it so the system automatically logs me in at start-up. -This is a personal laptop. No one else has access to it. -I was not doing anything with the system settings or the terminal and have not installed any new software for the past 3 days. -I am running the System76 native Linux laptop Ultra Lemur. I did not contact their support yet because it seemed unlikely that this is a System76-specific error.

  • How can I further improve the quality of my home videos?

    So now that I have found out how to deinterlace my videos, I am wondering if there is other software out there that can further help improve the quality of my videos. Some other problems I have noticed is when you move the camera side to side very quickly you can notice tearing in the the picture. That is the top half of the frame doesn't line up with the bottom half, it appears that the bottom half is shifted to the right or left depending on which way the camera is moving. Shaky camera hand is also a problem in some videos. I don't expect any software to be able to correct these problems 100%, especially the shaky hand. I know that using a tripod or something of the sorts is the best way to prevent the shakes, but for preexsiting videos what are the best solutions I can use?

This is a amazing feature to find code in particular document and its available from Visual Studio 2010 and carried over in Visual Studio 2012. Incremental search allows developers to search in document without blocking UI and allow to search as they type. Interesting!! right.. So let’s open visual studio and see how it works. Once you open Visual Studio and press Ctrl + I and type something it will find the string without blocking your visual studio UI. Just like following. In the above code you can see that, I have typed Cons and You can see that whole console word is highlighted. Even you can see that find dialog box on top right corner of visual studio 2012 like following. Same way if you see the footer in visual studio where it is finding cons in current document like following. Isn’t that great now we find things very easily and we don’t have to remember whole word like Console. Hope you like it. Stay tuned for more updates.

  • XNA 3D coordinates seem off

    I'm going through a book, and the example it gave me seems like is should work, but when I try and implement it, it falls short. My Camera class takes three vectors in to generate View and Projection matrices. I'm giving it a position vector of (0,0,5), a target vector of Vector.Zero and a top vector (which way is up) of Vector.Up. My Three vertices are placed at (0,1,0), (-1,-1,0), (1,-1,0). It seems like it should work because the vertices are centered around the origin, and thats where I'm telling the camera to look but when I run the game, the only way to get the camera to see the vertices is to set its position to (0,0,-5) and even then the triangle is skewed. Not sure what's wrong here. Any suggestions would be helpful. Just to make sure I've given you guys everything (I don't think these are important as the problem seems to be related to the coordinates, not the ability of the game to draw them): I'm using a VertexBuffer and a BasicEffect.   • Connecting two monitors at the corners

    I am using two separate X screens on two monitors and I would like them to be connected at the lower right corner. That is, if you move to the lower right corner of screen0 the mouse should appear at the upper left of screen1. I do not want an entire edge of each monitor to be permeable to the mouse. I modified the xorg.conf file like so: Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Layout0" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 Screen 1 "Screen1" Relative "Screen0" 1200 1000 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer" EndSection (screen 0's resolution is 1280x1024) so there is a bit of overlap. However whenever I move the mouse to the bottom of screen0, the pointer appears at the upper left of screen1. And, the entire top of screen1 is permeable to the mouse and brings it to the lower left corner of screen0. I have tried various numbers in following the "relative" statement - if I put 1280 1024 the mouse does not cross over at all. If I use 1280 1023 the entire right side of screen0 is permeable. I haven't been able to find any documentation about how to explicitly tell the mouse where to crossover - is there some? It seems that xorg is being really aggressive in guessing where the mouse crossover should take place. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

    5 sites I commonly vist at home: Google.com Gmail.com Linkedin.com Capella.edu Codeplex.com All of the top 5 sites I visit at home use JavaScript and is applied in various ways for various reasons. Gmail and Google make use of Ajax to retrieve information without the user having to call another page. In addition, all 5 of the websites use JavaScript to enhance a user's experience. Examples of this can be found in content rotation on Capella's main site and the displaying and hiding of specific content sections from within our course room. Codeplex uses Ajax and JavaScript to show dynamic content on its homepage and allow users to page through the data. I think there use of JavaScript is well placed and enhances the viewing experience of the user because it reduces the amount of interaction a user has to perform for them to obtain information they are looking to see. I have used JavaScript in various ways. One of the most memorable ways was to enable an HTML table to be able to have its rows paged and sorted based on the values in each table row.

  • Table Formatting in Excel 2007: How do I remove it?

    I've used the new Table Formatting option in Excel 2007. Now I can't remove it. I've dragged the little blue square up to the last cell on the top left, but it just won't go any further. In fact it just won't go at all. Clear all doesn't remove it. What does? I want my table back! I'm not a beginner with Excel, but this little annoyance has made me feel like on. Surely there must be some way to remove table format without deleting something or clearing all! Thanks Mike

Components Involved Intel P68 Chipset Motherboard 4 SATA ports that can be configured for Raid An intel SSD cache that sits in front of the RAID, and a 64 GB SSD configured in that manner Two 1TB HDDs configured in RAID 1 OS: Windows 7 Professional Resources Consulted so far I found a great resource on LinuxQuestions.org for a good "best practices" process for Linux machines, but I'd like to develop a similar process that I know works on Windows Machines.

  • Google Chrome with strange behavior

    I'm former Chromium-browser user, but after not upgrading the PPA for 2 months, I switched to Google Chrome browser yesterday. Everything is okay, except some strange behavior on some pages and crashing after loading "chrome://" configuration pages. The best known website with strange behavior is youtube, there is a picture what I see: When I open user menu in top right corner, it crashes that way and even after closing the menu, some parts of menu stay display. You may say it's Youtube problem, no, I have this problem at least on three other websites, here it is on Imgur: The problem isn't for the whole side, sometimes it happens from the middle of the screen. The interesting part is that it happens everytime in the same distance from the right border. When I check the DOM elements with the Developer tool, the overlay which shows element's position is rendered how it should be. What is more, if there is anchor after the crashed area, it works after clicking on it. Selecting text in crashed page is impossible. I hope there is enough information to give me an advice, thanks in advance. :) EDIT: Here is what the browser posted in "chrome://gpu-internals/": Graphics Feature Status Canvas: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable Compositing: Hardware accelerated 3D CSS: Hardware accelerated CSS Animation: Software animated.   • Apply email retention policy to Inbox but not subfolders?

    Our official email policy states that email older than 90 days in the Inbox is moved to Deleted Items, not including subfolders of the Inbox. This wasn't a problem to implement in Exchange 2003. In 2010, however, it appears that Policy Tags applied to the Inbox also apply to its subfolders. How can I prevent this from occuring?     We have one domain and one sub-domain. Until last week both of them appear in first page of Google search for very important keyword. Unfortunately Google dropped our main domain from search results. our main site has been in first page for 5 years! About one year ago we build this sub-domain. It simply has been redirected to one of pages of main domain. For solving problem we upload a independent site for sub-domain because we guessed that Google think this is our main page of our site. But problem did not solved. What should we do? our main site offer main services and we we want that will be on first page. Shout down sub-domain? Redirect to main site? Put the link of our main site in sub-domain? (About one year ago we put link of this sub-domain to our main site. Google indexed it and continuously bring that to top.) changing in robots.txt ....

  • How can I pin point a USB file transfer bottleneck in Unix?

    I'm experiencing very slow data transfer speeds over USB 2.0 on my nix box and was wondering how I can pin-point the cause of the problem. I've looked into iotop and top but the cpu and mem figures look normal (compared to guides I have checked). The box which is affected is Ubuntu 12.04 32bit Server running on an Asus EEE 701 2G model and I am transferring from the OS over USB 2.0 to an external HDD (which transfers at 30MB/s+ on Windows 7 on other machine). I get rsync write speeds of 1MB/s from OS to USB HDD which seems ridiculously slow. These speeds are consistent with other USB HDDs and sticks.

    So I have a 70 page pdf document that I'm trying to condense to a small booklet. I tried creating a formula to manually to perform it but it got ugly fast. 35,36,34,37,17,54,16,55,33,38,32,39,15,56,14,57,31,40,30,41,13,58,12,59 29,42,28,43,11,60,10,61,27,44,26,45,9,62,8,63,25,46,24,47,7,64,6,65 23,48,22,49,5,66,4,67,21,50,20,51,3,68,2,69,19,52,18,53,1,70 Once I print the booklet I should be able to cut the sheets in half and set the bottom half behind the top and staple it for a simple book. Which means Page 1 should have pages 35,36,17,54,34,37,16,55 Page 2 should have pages 33,38,15,56,32,39,14,57 And several pages later Page 9 should have pages 19,52,1,70,18,53 But manually doing this is a headache and it seems like the booklet function should contain functionality that can perform this. I'm using a commercial Konica Minolta C452

  • files appearing empty or only partially transferred on FTP server.

    firstly, apologies if this question has been asked and answered before, but I have had a look through related queries and found nothing identical to this. I have had a website for a few years, and have never had any problem uploading any files. But today, when i went to transfer a new html file onto the server...i did so, the file arrived. so i browsed to the file in my browser to check the page as i always do, and the browser wouldn't acknowledge it. after repeated attempts to transfer it, it finally seemed to go over, but only 1/4 of the file size..4KB out of 16KB...so only the top of the page would be viewable in my browser...ive tried transferring on a number of ftp clients and no love... my expertise on this is limited and i cant really think of the next step, the server isnt full, so...im just stumped. any ideas? any and all feedback is great appreciated.

    Hi, I have an excel sheet for groceries. One column is the name, another is whether to buy it or not (checkbox) and another is the amount. I'd like to have a widget in the top row so that I start typing an item's name and it shows a list of matching items that I can select from, or if I continue to type and there's only one item, completes its name. When the last item is selected, other widgets show the amount, which I can edit and clicking 'check' will check the item in the list. I know this is kind of very specific, but am hoping someone can at least get me started. Thank you, Ittay

  • RAID 10, how layout works ?

    I'm trying to figure out how exactly works the RAID 10 in linux with mdadm. I want to create a RAID 10 out of 4 partitions, let's say a, b, c and d. a and b are on the array 1, c and d array 2. So what I want is to have the couple a and b, c and d in RAID 0. Then on top of that, a RAID 1. The option in the mdadm command to configure the layout is -p, --layout with option : near, far, offset see here I want to keep my data safe if the array 1 fails for example, that would mean that every chunk of data are always copied on both arrays. How do I have to set my RAID 10, near or far ?

  • Collision Detection Problems

    So I'm making a 2D tile based game but I can't quite get the collisions working properly. I've taken the code from the Platformer Sample and implemented it into my game as seen below. One problem I'm having is when I'm on the ground for some strange reason I can't move to the left. Now I'm pretty sure this problem is from the HandleCollisions() method because when I stop running it I can smoothly move around with no problems. Another problem I'm having is when I'm close to a tile the character jitters very strangely. I will try to post a video if necessary. Normally I calculate the Sprite's drawing size and position similar to this pseudo code: render() { var x = sprite.x; var y = sprite.y; var sizeX = sprite.width * sprite.scaleX; // width of the sprite on the screen var sizeY = sprite.height * sprite.scaleY; // height of the sprite on the screen } To implement the scaling i changed the code to this: class Camera { var scaleX; var scaleY; var zoom; var finalScaleX; // = scaleX * zoom var finalScaleY; // = scaleY * zoom } render() { var x = sprite.x * Camera.finalScaleX; var y = sprite.y * Camera.finalScaleY; var sizeX = sprite.width * sprite.scaleX * Camera.finalScaleX; var sizeY = sprite.height * sprite.scaleY * Camera.finalScaleY; } The problem is that when the zoom is smaller than 1.0 all sprites are moved toward the top-left corner of the screen. This is expected when looking at the code but i want the camera to zoom on the center of the screen. Any tips on how to do that are welcome. :)
