• How-To: Run CMSDK against a RAC cluster

  Using CMSDK in a production environment often requires a robust, reliable and failover enabled repository. When using Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) with your CMSDK repository you need to have a specific configuration in place to support such a setup. This post will explain the configuration steps required when running CMSDK 9.0.4.6 with Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS).In the previous CMSDK 9.0.4.2 version a RAC enabled connect string looked like this: (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac1)(PORT = 1521))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = rac2)(PORT = 1521))(LOAD_BALANCE = NO)(FAILOVER = ON)(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = rac)(failover_mode = (type=select)(method=basic)))CMSDK 9.0.4.6 makes use of data sources to connect to the underlying database. It responds to Fast Application Notification (FAN) events to provide Fast Connection Failover (FCF), Runtime Connection Load-Balancing (RCLB), and RAC instance graceful shutdown. • Can only bring up one of two interfaces

  I'm having a bizarre issue with my HP Proliant DL 360 G4p server. It has two gigabit ethernet interfaces but I can bring up only one of them. This is starting to freak me out and that's why I turned here. I'm running the x64 ubuntu 11.10 server edition. lshw -c network shows that the second interface is disabled. I figured that's what happens when there is no eth1 listed in /etc/network/interfaces. • slow virtualbox guest

  I run a guest ubuntu 12.04 on a host ubuntu 12.04, with virtual box, and the guest is much, much slower than the host (ALT+TAB costs 4-5secs). I had a look around and I found contradicting opinions on virtualbox vs vmware (free), so I taught to keep the former. Both systems are updated, I installed the additions on the guest and I evenly split memory and video memory (64mb) between guest and host. I am running a toshiba m200 laptop with 4GB ram and shared video memory. The host bios does not include a configuration option for machine virtualization. I have 2 cpus and I can't give them both to the vm. Is there anything I overlooked that could solve my problem? Feel free to ask for more info, and thank you for any help. EDIT Idling with the monitor open the (single) guest cpu never gets below 55% and could raise to 80 - 90% just moving the mouse around, opening ff will cause the monitor to run 100% in the guest, while the host shows that both cpus are evenly working around 60%. My cpu is Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66GHz × 2. If this is not a configuration problem, does it mean my machine is too weak for virtualization?

• OpenBSD Routing Problem

  I am running OpenBSD on a network appliance hardware. It has 5 NICs. I want to give different IP's in same subnet to 3 nics. Eg: em0: 192.168.1.5 em1: 192.168.1.90 em2: 192.168.1.56 I make the necessary configuration with ifconfig, all interfaces works as expected when all the ethernet ports are plugged in to switch. But there is something wrong in routing. If I connect to 192.16.1.5 via any service(http, smtp etc.), traffic goes over link#3. If I unpug the cable from em2 I can't reach any IP's binded on device. Is there any way to route traffic over different links in this IP configuration?

• What is a 'good number' of exceptions to implement for my library?

  I've always wondered how many different exception classes I should implement and throw for various pieces of my software. My particular development is usually C++/C#/Java related, but I believe this is a question for all languages. I want to understand what is a good number of different exceptions to throw, and what the developer community expect of a good library. The trade-offs I see include: More exception classes can allow very fine grain levels of error handling for API users (prone to user configuration or data errors, or files not being found) More exception classes allows error specific information to be embedded in the exception, rather than just a string message or error code More exception classes can mean more code maintenance More exception classes can mean the API is less approachable to users The scenarios I wish to understand exception usage in include: During 'configuration' stage, which might include loading files or setting parameters During an 'operation' type phase where the library might be running tasks and doing some work, perhaps in another thread Other patterns of error reporting without using exceptions, or less exceptions (as a comparison) might include: Less exceptions, but embedding an error code that can be used as a lookup Returning error codes and flags directly from functions (sometimes not possible from threads) Implemented an event or callback system upon error (avoids stack unwinding) As developers, what do you prefer to see? If there are MANY exceptions, do you bother error handling them separately anyway? Do you have a preference for error handling types depending on the stage of operation?

And i integrate with mysql utilities master/slave configuration. Everything working fine. Mysql version 5.6.17, ndb 7.3.5 , servers ubuntu 14.04. There will be no much transactions. The only important thing is HA. Everythings must be double. My problem is virtual ip. Since I have only one farm which have master slave configuration, how can i do it without proxy? If I must use proxy which proxy is better?

• Wireless connection disconnects and reconnects with a Netgear WNA1000

  Ever since I made the permanent switch from Vista to Ubuntu i've had wireless connectivity problems. From watching the network manager when it disconnects it seems like it turns off the receiver for some reason. Could it be bad drivers? I used their install software and the site doesn't really offer driver downloads. The adapter is a Netgear WNA1000 if memory serves, and I don't know much about the router except that it's a Motorola Surfboard. I have: Custom Filter Include Request URI ^/test-a/46212$|^/test-a/46212|^/test-a/46315 Now after I go to Content Site Content All Pages, I see stats for other pages that I didn't include in my filter. For example I see /somethingelse. I only want to see stats for /test-a/46212 and whatever else in my filter. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

• How To Export/Import a Website in IIS 7.x

  IIS 6 had a great feature called ‘Save Configuration to a File’ which would allow you to easily export a website’s configuration, to be later used to import either on the same server or another box.  This came in handy anytime you wanted to duplicate a site in order to do some testing without impacting the existing application.  So naturally, Microsoft decided to do away with this feature in IIS 7. The process to export/import a site is still fairly simple, though not as obvious as it was in previous versions.  Here are the steps: 1. Open a command prompt and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv and run the following command: appcmd list site /name:<sitename> /config /xml > C:\output.xml So if you were wanting to export a website named EAC, you would run the following: If you’ll be setting up another copy of the site on the same server, you’ll now need to edit the output.xml file before importing it.  This is necessary in order to avoid conflicts such as bindings, Site ID, etc.  To do this, edit the XML and change the values.  Go ahead and make a copy of the home directory, and rename it to whatever folder name you specified in the output – /EAC2 in this example.  If you decide to change the app pool, make sure you go ahead and create the new app pool as well. Once these edits have been made, we are now ready to import the site.  To do that run: appcmd add sites /in < c:\output.xml So for our example it would look like this: That’s it.  You should now see your site listed when opening up Inet Manager.  If for some reason the site fails to start, that’s probably because you forgot to create the new app pool or there is a problem with one of the other parameters you changed.  Look at the System log to identify any issues like this.

I have: Installed vsftpd open port 20-21 open port 1024 - 1048 Basically, I followed every of these steps Start vsftpd service (the status indicate [ok]) I use filezilla for my ftp client. • Forward nginx to Apache Tomcat

  I'm totally new to nginx. I want to forward two subdomains to the two applications in my apache tomcat server. As I searched over internet, I found that rewrite does the forwarding but I cannot see forwarding. Here is my server configuration server { listen 80; server_name subdomain1.domain.com; rewrite ^ http://tomcat.ip:8080/app1$request_uri? permanent; } server { listen 80; server_name subdomain2.domain.com; rewrite ^ http://tomcat.ip:8080/app2$request_uri? permanent; } Whenever I invoke subdomain1.domain.com or subdomain2.domain.com, I'm redirected to the main page of nginx which states that nginx is successfully installed and further configuration is needed. So, How can I do the forwarding?

• Web server replica not working in other server

  I have a Drupal installation (php+mysql) in a server, and I'm trying to copy this installation to another server with the same configuration, same physical and virtual path, same db configuration, etc. The thing is, in my new server I get the homepage to work, but not the inner pages, so I guess has something to do with rewrite (mod_rewrite is installed) (both .htaccess are the same). When I access http://localhost/myweb/content/mypage I get a 404 or a "Forbidden" if I uncomment this in httpd.conf (original httpd.conf does not have this entry): <Directory path/to/docs"> DirectoryIndex index.php index.html Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> Any clue? • growing EBS RAID volume

  I've created a RAID0 configuration with two 1GB EBS volumes, mounted at /dev/md0 using mdadm and formatted with XFS Next, I copied some files over to fill the volume to around 30% of its capacity (of 2GB) I then created snapshots of the volumes using ec2-consistent-snapshot and created volumes of the said snapshots but specified the volume size to be 2GB (effective doubling the capacity on each disk) I then spun up a new instance, assembled the RAID0 configuration on /dev/md0 from the 2 volumes mentioned above and mount it to /vol df -hT showed /vol as 2GB (as expected) Now I ran sudo xfs_growfs -d /vol. The command completed normally but reported blocks changed from 523776 to 524160 (only!) and df -hT still showed /vol as 2GB (instead of the expected 4GB) I rebooted, remounted, reassembled the RAID but it still reports the old size. EDIT: trying to grow the RAID using mdadm --grow yields mdadm: raid0 array /dev/md0 cannot be reshaped Is there any other way I can grow a RAID0 array?

• Problem connecting with RDP between Mac and Win2k3 server

  I have an iMac running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and the RDP Connection Client 2.0.1. http://salle.dyndns.org/misc/rdp%5Fproblem1.png When I try to connect to a Windows 2003 Server on the same network I get a dialog saying "Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to". • Easily manage vsftpd virtual users?

  I have a vsftpd server configured with many virtual users. logins are stored in a Berkeley DB file One configuration file exists for each user to define his permissions (read-only or read-write, home directory, etc.). To do that, I use the user_config_dir parameter (set in vsftpd.conf). I am wondering if it would be possible to manage these virtual users from a simple GUI (such as web interface). I have found some tools but they are limited to generic vsftpd configuration, not virtual users management. Otherwise, PAM-MySQL seems to be a good way to manage users efficiently but only username/password and logs can be stored in database, not permissions. Finally, I've found this thread, but the solution is a bit awkward... Is there any way to easily manage the vsftpd users ?

  i am having an sony E series laptop.i have an HDMI port .at this stage ,i have tested my sound card , which provides audio out on my laptop i.e i could hear songs .my laptop has two sound cards amd 5450 and an intel-hda(alsamixer shows that as s/pdif) . i decided to connect HDMI output to my new HD-TV.but, i could get only visuals on my TV,NO AUDIO OUTPUT ( HDMI cable works fine with win 7).my laptop has two sound cards.but i couldn't switch output to other card.( i don't know ,how to do that) i decided to update alsa. complied the following code in terminal. sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-daily sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install alsa-hda-dkms then,strangely no login sound, and no audio output on my laptop at all .then, started complied code from step1 sound troubleshooting procedure from offical ubuntu site.then, my speaker icon taskbar disappeared .obivously $aplay -l ,provided output as no soundcards detected . so , i implemented step 4 from that guide, it provides a output of all hardware devices in my laptop. *-multimedia UNCLAIMED description: Audio device product: Cedar HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5400/6300 Series] vendor: Hynix Semiconductor (Hyundai Electronics) physical id: 0.1 bus info: pci@0000:01:00.1 version: 00 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm pciexpress msi bus_master cap_list configuration: latency=0 resources: memory:f0040000-f0043fff *-multimedia UNCLAIMED description: Audio device product: 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 1b bus info: pci@0000:00:1b.0 version: 05 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list configuration: latency=0 resources: memory:f5e00000-f5e03fff that command displayed output name of the two cards . but , still i have no positive output on $aplay -l. so therfore, i think alsa couldn't detect my sound cards . is there solution to this problem? it could be better,if alsa would channel output from multiple sound cards ? how should install and configure alsa such that detects HDMI cable as soon i connect to my HD tv? is it possible to alsa and pluseaudio 2.0 to co-exist, if so how?

  I have a server on a network segment with no direct or indirect access to the Internet. I want to perform an: apt-get install <package_name> Is there a way to somehow delegate the process of downloading the required files to another machine by exporting the server configuration so as to satisfy all dependencies while running: apt-get install --download-only <package_name> Can, in effect, apt-get install read a configuration from an exported archive rather than from the local package database? Can the list of packages to be downloaded be retrieved, along with an installation script to perform the installation, instead of the actual packages? (a further level of indirection which would help me schedule this with wget at appropriate times...)

• IIS7 folder permissions

  I build a basic WCF service that I now want to host in IIS7 under Windows Server 2008 R2. I added the service as an application under the default web site but whenever i try to run the application I get the following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. Config Error - Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions The only way I can get this service working is if i choose to "connect as" the server Administrator when adding the service. the "application user (pass-through authentication)" option does not seem to work. Could anyone help me out, I've just started using IIS7 and have no idea what to do... Thanks

• Logs being flooded from Squid for having intercepted and authentication enabled together

  I have done some hefty Google'ing and I can't seem to find a single solution to this issue that I cam currently experiencing. Which works rather well in this configuration however my logs are getting flooded of this entry authentication not applicable on intercepted requests whenever a transparent connection is made. So far, I can't seem to find any documentation that would describe how to suppress these messages ?
