• Firefox doesn't show silverlight controls

  I have a silverlight application in which I am using the windowless property to show text . Silverlight Plugin Size is 1000*2000, I Have a button (siverlight control) on the Top. I am showing some html text using DIV real time. Its working fine. My Silverlight Plugin & DIV both style property is= "position:absolute'. • How do I safely destroy a dialog window of a wxPython application?

  I created a wxPython application which shows some messages on a dialog window. The dialog window is needed to be force-destroyed by the application before I click the dialog OK button. I used wx.lib.delayedresult to make the destroy call. • Display fraction with numerator/denominator with empty fields for users to enter text

  Hi all I have a scenario in which I need to design online keyboard with buttons implementing different mathematical functions in ASP.NET. For example 1) A button called "Fraction" Onclicking= should display A numerator and a denominator separated by '-' with empty fields. Just as we write fractions manually. Now when the user clicks on this button the cursor should focus on numerator displaying 'the division line' and then by pressing 'Down' arrow key(on computr keyboard) should focus on denominator allowing users to enter both fields. Keeping it simple the user should be able to toggle between numerator and denominator. Please help me with some sample code. I have got no idea. Thanks in advance

• I'm a contract developer and I think I'm about to get screwed [closed]

  I do contract development on the side. You could say that I'm a contract developer? Considering I've only ever had one client I'd say that's not exactly the truth - more like I took a side job and needed some extra cash. It started out as a "rebuild our website and we'll pay you $10k" type project. Once that was complete (a bit over schedule, but certainly not over budget), the company hired me on as a "long term support" contractor. The contract is to go from March of this year, expiring on December 31st of this year - 10 months. Over which a payment is to be paid on the 30th of each month for a set amount. I've been fulfilling my end of the contract on all points - doing server maintenence, application and database changes, doing huge rush changes and pretty much just going above and beyond. Currently I'm in the middle of development of an iPhone mobile application (PhoneGap based) which is nearing completion (probably 3-4 weeks from submission). It has not been all peaches and flowers though. Each and every month when my paycheck comes due, there always seems to be an issue of sorts. These issues did not occur during the initial project, only during the support contract. The actual contract states that my check should be mailed out on the 30th of the month. I have received my check on time approximately once (on time being about 2-3 days within the 30th). I've received my paycheck as late as the 15th of the next month - over two weeks late. I've put up with it because I need the paycheck. There have been promises and promises of "we'll send it out on time next time! I promise" - only to receive it just as late the next month. When I ask about payment they give me a vibe like "why are you only worried about money?" - unfortunately I don't have the luxury of not worrying about money. The last straw was with my August payment, which should have been mailed on August 30th. I received it on September 12th. The reason for the delay? "USPS is delaying it man! we sent it out on the 1st!" is the reason I got. When I finally got the check in the mail, the postage on the envelope was marked September 10th - the date it was run through the postage machine. I've been outright lied to, at this point. I carry on working, because again - I need a paycheck. I orchestrated the move of our application to a new server, developed a bunch of new changes and continued work on the iPhone app. All told I probably went over my hourly allotment (I'm paid for 40 hours a month, I probably put in at least 50). On Saturday, the 1st, I gave the main contact at the company (a company of 3, by the way - this is not some big corporation) a ring and filled him in on the status of my work for the past two weeks. Unusually I hadn't heard from him since the middle of September. His response was "oh... well, that is nice and uh.. good job. well, we've been talking within the company about things and we've certainly got some decisions ahead of us..." - not verbatim but you get the idea (I hope?). I got out of this conversation that the site is not doing very well (which it's not) and they're considering pulling the plug. Crap, this contract is going to end early - there goes Christmas! Fine, that's alright, no problem. I'll get paid for the last months work and call it a day. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten last months check, and I'm getting dicked around now. "Oh.. we had problems transferring funds, we'll try and mail it out tomorrow" and "I left a VM with the finance guy, but I can't get ahold of him". So I'm getting the feeling I'm not getting paid for all the work I put in for September. This is obviously breach of contract, and I am pissed. Thinking irrationally, I considered changing all their passwords and holding their stuff hostage. Before I think it through (by the way, I am NOT going to do this, realized it would probably get me in trouble), I go and try some passwords for our various accounts. Google Apps? Oh, I'm no longer administrator here. Godaddy? Whoops, invalid password. Disqus? Nope, invalid password here too. Google Adsense / Analytics? Invalid password. Dedicated server account manager? Invalid password. Now, I have the servers root password - I just built the box last week and haven't had a chance to send the guy the root password. Wasn't in a rush, I manage the server and they never touch it. Now all of a sudden all the passwords except this one are changed; the writing is on the wall - I am out. Here's the conundrum. I have the root password, they do not. If I give them this password all the leverage I have is gone, out the door and out of my hands. During this argument of why am I not getting paid the guy sends me an email saying "oh by the way, what's the root username and password to the server?". Considering he knows absolutely nothing, I gave him an "admin" account which really has almost no rights. I still have exclusive access to the server, I just don't know where to go. I can hold their data hostage, but I'm almost positive this is the wrong thing to do. I'd consider it blackmail, regardless of whether or not I have gotten paid yet. I can "break" something on the server and give them the whole "well, if you were paying me I could fix it!" spiel. This works from a "well he's not holding their stuff hostage" point of view, but what stops them from hiring some one else to just fix the issue at hand? For all I know the guys nephew is a "l33t hax0r" and can figure it out for free. I can give in, document as much as I can and take him to small claims court. This is breach of contract, I'm not getting paid. I have a case, right? ???? Does anyone have any experience in this? What can I do? What are my options? I'm broke, I can't afford a lawyer and I can barely afford not getting this paycheck. My wife doesn't work (I work two jobs so she doesn't have to work - we have a 1 year old) and is already looking at getting a part time job to cover the bills. Long term we'll be fine, but this has pissed me off beyond belief! Help me out, I'm about to get screwed.

Step 3 I've 4 checkboxes in the child window. If the checkbox is not checked, then that part of html should be removed. eg: cbxPersonal, cbxProfessional if cbxProfessional is unchecked I should remove divProfessional from html which is in hdnSource and display in the textbox Can anyone help me to do the 3rd part of coding.   Hello, Is it possible to programatically create a new panel within a current document that contains duplicate elements? For example when the window loads I have a grid (one row) with three text fields, Fname01, Lname01, and DOB01, I would like to have a button that when clicked would append a new row to the grid with three new fields (Fname02, Lname02, and DOB02). Each time the button is clicked (addrow) a new row would be created. • What steps should be taken to make sure your software is usable by disabled people?

  I want to make sure a piece of software I am writing is usable by people with various disabilities such as blindness and an inability to use a mouse and / or keyboard. Unfortunately I have no experience with things such as screen readers or other methods that disabled people use to make using a computer easier / possible. I've never really had much experience with disabilities at all and unfortunately I don't know any disabled people who I can ask. I was wondering what other people do to make sure that their software is available to a wide range of people with varying abilities? This seems to be a subject matter that is often ignored by developers and I think it is a real shame.

• Little CSS problem with Auto height and nested div's

  So I'm finally learning my way around CSS more and have run into a small problem. I have a container div, with a few divs inside of it, one of them is a bit if text (which can be a random height) and an image that will have a MAX height of 200px. I am using a dotted/colored background behind them that needs to auto expand to the height of whichever is the tallest, either the text or the image. Right now when i use height:auto on the container div it works perfect for the random height text: Example Screenshot But it's only adjusting according to the text's height; if the image is taller than the text, the image overflows the bottom of the background dotted/colored box. • dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block presenter view and modal view flow

  I did find an answer to this title and I did do a little research but I'm still not getting the flow. Here is what I want to happen: 1) click a button on the presenter view to open a modal view. 2) retrieve some value and click a button to close the modal view....sending the value to the presentor view and execute a method. I get that this works like a callback but I still can't figure out where to put the callback stuff. So, how exactly do I do this? A) In the presentViewController completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Or: B) In the modal view's dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Can somebody help me with some sample code? Or at least help me get the flow of which block to put the code in? Thank you, P

  I wrote about this problem some weeks ago, but now the question is: "Why is touchpad works not so good as in windows". I tried some "experiments": When I use windows and if I accidentally touched touchpad - cursor isn't moving, also no clicks occurring. So in windows working with touchpad is quite normal, but in Ubuntu ?f I accidentally touch the touchpad even with my wrist - cursor is moving etc. In Windows, the cursor moves only when I touch it with finger. And... If, for example, I hold one finger on touchpad and simultaneously move the second finger on the touchpad - the cursor doesn't move, however in ubuntu he does. He's "super sensetive" in ubuntu or what? Also I tried to apply the option in "Mouse and touchpad", which called "Disable touchpad when typing", but nevertheless he isn't disabling when i'm typing... Note: this option is circled in red frame, i dont know is it a good "sign" ) What can I do to fix the problem?

• Animations not accepted in animator

  In the official Unity Animator State Machine tutorial video animation clips are dragged out from the assets folder into the animator and dropped. I have a 3D model that i bought online to experiment with that comes with animations. I added a custom made animation as well. These all work well in my demo project. But when i add a animator to the assets and try to drag and drop animations onto it it doesnt work. I get a forbidden-sign as a mouse pointer. I try to add animations through the inspector but that does not work either. The tutorials makes it seem so easy and does not talk anything about what animations can be used. What am i doing wrong?

  I would like to configure a keyboard shortcut for a particular folder in my Desktop. I will be using this folder quite often and is there a way to open them with a custom keyboard shortcut ? The remote thing I came across regarding this is this question which is for opening home folder similar to Windows, but I do not want to go to home folder and navigate from there all the way to a folder in the Desktop (mouse clicking the desktop folder is way too easier than this method). So my Question: Can I have custom keyboard shortcuts for custom folders like folders in Desktop ? I'm using 12.04.

• USB Storage Device Automount

  Under Ubuntu 10.04 one of the problems which appeared is that USB devices would no longer automatically mount when plugged in. Normally I would get a pop up message asking what application I wanted to open the newly plugged in device with, however now that doesn't happen. This happens regardless of the way the device is formatted (NTFS or FAT32) and all other USB devices (printer, keyboard and mouse) work perfectly. My current solution is the mount them manually using sudo mount dev/... /medai/... however to be honest I'm just getting tired of having to do this. I'm happy to post any extra information you are likely to need. I know there will be lots of places I could look to find out what's going wrong but I have no idea where to start really.

• Xubuntu LightDM shows blank screen half the time

  System info: (will be amended if any more info is asked for) My laptop runs Xubuntu 12.10. As it has a Solid State Drive, /tmp, /var/tmp, /var/log and /var/log/apt are set to tmpfs in the /etc/fstab file - in case this makes any difference. Problem My problem is quite simple. Approximately 50% of boot attempts end in the mouse cursor on a black screen (presumably LightDM failing to load), forcing me to restart and try again. I can access the CTRL+ALT+F1 terminal to reboot the machine, but it's very annoying having to boot and reboot two or three times before one works. Oh, and this problem is the same whether I use the Xubuntu or Unity greeter. Thanks for any help you can give.

For reasons beyond our understanding, the first call to the database server fails with the following error: An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot open database "TryParkingIt2" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'EXTRANET\OurServerNameHere$'. Run the report again, it works. Huh? Update Click the button the first time, it fails. Click the button again, it works. The account being impersonated is a domain account.

  I'm just an average Joe when it comes to computing (maybe less then the average Joe) but I hate tap-to-click. In system and settings there is no touchpad tab? Is it true that this has been fixed? I'm using Dell inspiron N5110 xinput list: ? Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ? ? Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ? ? PS/2 Generic Mouse id=13 [slave pointer (2)] This is really strange because Dell is one of the top manufacturers in laptops and Ubuntu one of the top distros in Linux and Canonical claims that they are working closely with Dell.

• Help with two mini-bugs

  Let's see if someone can help me with two mini-bugs I have: Sometimes, when I close the laptop and later open it, the touchpad stops working properly. Most times it only acts fuzzy a few seconds and then starts working fine, but other times it stops working completely (I can't move the mouse arrow, althougt clicking buttons work fine) until I restart. Whenever I turn on the computer, some keys excange with others (" becomes @, ? becomes _, ¿ becomes +, etc), and I have to go to Keyboard input and add and delete some language (I use Afgan because it's the first) Thanks.

  While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. • Ubuntu won't wake after pm-suspend

  i have ubuntu 12.04 on my Zotac AD-02. Problem is when i run pm-suspend. zotac goes to sleep (it shows red led, and green light is flashing) but when i send magic packet to WOL it hangs ... it stops flashing and LED is green as its turned on but SSH wont run and it won't react to mouse or anything. I've read that sometimes it has something to do with graphics. It is mainly for DLNA and PLEX so i don't use any graphic component so if there is the problem tell me how to disable it :) is there some log or anything i can post? im fairly good at bash but not at all in ubuntu or debian. so i can't find any log. • Problem with TabHost UI layout.

  What I'm trying to do is create a layout like this: +--------+ Search |EditText| [Button] +--------+ +---------+ |Tab 1 |---------+ | |Tab 2 | |---------+---------+-----------------+ | ListView Item 1 | | ListView Item 2 | | ListView Item 3 | | ListView Item 4 | | ListView Item 5 | | ListView Item 6 | | ListView Item 7 | | ListView Item 8 | | ListView Item 9 | | ListView Item 10 | +-------------------------------------+ So that's a TextView saying 'Search', an EditText and a button. Then below it the tabs - Tab 1 has a ListView, Tab 2 some other stuff. I can get a simple TabHost setup with two tabs working fine but can't get the above to lay out properly. Any hints ? I'd create the UI in the Eclipse designer and check the XML from that, except the designer doesn't work with TabHost. And DroidDraw doesn't seem to know about TabHost.

• How can I return JSON from node.js backend to frontend without reloading or re-rendering the page?

  I am working with node.js. I want to press a search button, make some rest api calls to another server in the backend and return the json back to the front end, and reload a div in the front end so that I won't have to refresh the page. Now I know I can reload just a div with jQuery or just Javascript dom manipulation. But how do I make it call a method on the server side? I could have a submit button and it will make a post request and I can catch it and make my api calls from there, however from the node.js side, when I return, I will have to render the page again. How do I go about returning JSON from the back end to the front end without re-rendering or refreshing my page? Thanks.
