  • Problem with updating data in asp .NET MVC 2 application

    - by Bojan
    Hello everyone, i am just getting started with asp .NET MVC 2 applications and i stumbled upon a problem. I'm having trouble updating my tables. The debugger doesn't report any error, it just doesn't do anything... I hope some can help me out. Thank you for your time. This is my controller code... public ActionResult Edit(int id) { var supplierToEdit = (from c in _entities.SupplierSet where c.SupplierId == id select c).FirstOrDefault(); return View(supplierToEdit); } // // POST: /Supplier/Edit/5 [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Edit(Supplier supplierToEdit) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) return View(); try { var originalSupplier = (from c in _entities.SupplierSet where c.SupplierId == supplierToEdit.SupplierId select c).FirstOrDefault(); _entities.ApplyPropertyChanges(originalSupplier.EntityKey.EntitySetName, supplierToEdit); _entities.SaveChanges(); // TODO: Add update logic here return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View(); } } This is my View ... <h2>Edit</h2> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) {%> <%= Html.ValidationSummary(true) %> <fieldset> <legend>Fields</legend> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.CompanyName) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.CompanyName) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.CompanyName) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.ContactName) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.ContactName) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.ContactName) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.ContactTitle) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.ContactTitle) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.ContactTitle) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Address) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Address) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Address) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.City) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.City) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.City) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.PostalCode) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.PostalCode) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.PostalCode) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Country) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Country) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Country) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Telephone) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Telephone) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Telephone) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.Fax) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Fax) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Fax) %> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.HomePage) %> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.HomePage) %> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.HomePage) %> </div> <p> <input type="submit" value="Save" /> </p> </fieldset> <% } %> <div> <%= Html.ActionLink("Back to List", "Index") %> </div>

  • Passing data to a non-static listBox, by calling function from another class

    - by Andrew A
I have a simple forms program that I have been fighting with for a while now. I simply want to be able to call a method from a different class file (when a certain step is triggered in the code in that class file) in order to insert a string in the listBox. Here is my main method, pretty standard: class Program { [STAThread] static void Main(string[] args) { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new MainForm()); } } Here is the function which resides in my MainForm.cs file, which I can call just fine from that class file (via 'TextToBox(myString);'): public partial class MainForm : Form { ... // Function to output results to main Listbox window public void TextToBox(string aString) { // Place messages in Main Display list box window this.listBox1.Items.Insert(0, aString); } ... } But my problem is when I am in another class and I want to call 'TextToBox(myString);'. If I create another object reference of the MainForm, the code compiles fine but nothing will show up in the listBox. How do I do this? I cannot simply make TextToBox() static. I know I must create the object reference but I can't figure out how to reference the ORIGINAL MainForm, the one that was created in the Main method. Thanks in advance...

  • Merging two SQLite database files (C# .NET)

    - by CODe
Hello all, I'm using C#/.NET with the C# wrapper for SQLite. I'm attempting to merge two SQLite databases together while excluding duplicates. I found this, which is referenced from a few different forum questions. http://old.nabble.com/Attempting-to-merge-large-databases-td18131366.html Would I run the following queries in my SQLite configuration as listed below? attach 'c:\test\b.db3' as toMerge; insert into AuditRecords select * from toMerge.AuditRecords; My main question is whether the above will remove duplicates, and if it doesn't, is there a merge or some other command I can use? Thanks very much!

  • Need a mysql query to extract data from mm-forms

    - by Kirill
http://cl.ly/201a11b430bf60ef9e97 is what the rows look like, after I clean them up a bit: SELECT fk_form_joiner_id,form_key,value FROM wp_contactform_submit_data WHERE form_key!='page_post_id' AND form_key!='captcha-802' AND form_key!='page_post_title' AND form_key!='user_ID' What I need is a query where it would transform this into a structure like: id | First-name | Surname-name | your-email | dob | address-1 | address-2 | county | postcode | phone ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 88 | jack | Somethin | [email protected] | dob | (etc) I think I know a way to do this through php, but I think there must be a way to do it as a mysql query. Ultimately, I need to export this (into a csv), but if you could give me a query that would output this into a mysql table (or at least a workable select query, that I could then turn into an insert query loop, to create a table), I'd do it form there. Thank you.

  • WPF Listview- What would be the best way to display data from different ObservableCollections based

    - by highone
I have three ObservableCollections: CharacterCollection, LocationCollection, and ItemCollection. They are all collections of objects; CharacterCollection is a collection of Character Objects. I need to display, in the listview, information from the collection determined by the user clicking on a button. I would prefer to use databinding, but I don't see a clear cut way to do that with multiple collections containing different types of objects. What would be the best way to easily switch between collections?

  • Discover periodic patterns in a large data-set

    - by Miner
I have a large sequence of tuples on disk in the form (t1, k1) (t2, k2) ... (tn, kn) ti is a monotonically increasing timestamp and ki is a key (assume a fixed length string if needed). Neither ti nor ki are guaranteed to be unique. However, the number of unique tis and kis is huge (millions). n itself is very large (100 Million+) and the size of k (approx 500 bytes) makes it impossible to store everything in memory. I would like to find out periodic occurrences of keys in this sequence. For example, if I have the sequence (1, a) (2, b) (3, c) (4, b) (5, a) (6, b) (7, d) (8, b) (9, a) (10, b) The algorithm should emit (a, 4) and (b, 2). That is a occurs with a period of 4 and b occurs with a period of 2. If I build a hash of all keys and store the average of the difference between consecutive timestamps of each key and a std deviation of the same, I might be able to make a pass, and report only the ones that have an acceptable std deviation(ideally, 0). However, it requires one bucket per unique key, whereas in practice, I might have very few really periodic patterns. Any better ways?

  • Should an NSLock instance be "global"?

    - by Alex Reynolds
Should I make a single NSLock instance in the application delegate, to be used by all classes? Or is it advisable to have each class instantiate its own NSLock instance as needed? Would the locking work in the second case, if I, for example, had access to a managed object context that is spread across two view controllers?

  • Random Pairings that don't Repeat

    - by Andrew Robinson
This little project / problem came out of left field for me. Hoping someone can help me here. I have some rough ideas but I am sure (or at least I hope) a simple, fairly efficient solution exists. Thanks in advance.... pseudo code is fine. I generally work in .NET / C# if that sheds any light on your solution. Given: A pool of n individuals that will be meeting on a regular basis. I need to form pairs that have not previously meet. The pool of individuals will slowly change over time. For the purposes of pairing, (A & B) and (B & A) constitute the same pair. The history of previous pairings is maintained. For the purpose of the problem, assume an even number of individuals. For each meeting (collection of pairs) and individual will only pair up once. Is there an algorithm that will allow us to form these pairs? Ideally something better than just ordering the pairs in a random order, generating pairings and then checking against the history of previous pairings. In general, randomness within the pairing is ok.

  • Checking if MySQL Database data does not exist

    - by Ben Sinclair
I have my songs set-up in my MySQL database. Each song is is either assigned multiple locations or has no locations at all. Only the songs that either have no locations assigned in the database or have the location assigned to the ones specified below should be pulled from the database. Hopefully when you understand my query below it will make sense SELECT s.* FROM roster_songs AS s LEFT JOIN roster_songs_locations AS sl ON sl.song_id = s.id WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT sl2.* FROM roster_songs_locations AS sl2 WHERE s.id != sl2.song_id ) OR ( sl.location_id = '88fb5f94-aaa6-102c-a4fa-1f05bca0eec6' OR sl.location_id = '930555b0-a251-102c-a245-1559817ce81a' ) GROUP BY s.id The query almost works except it pulls out of the database songs that are assigned to sl.location_id's that aren't specified in the above query. I think it has something to do with my EXISTS code picking them up... Any ideas how I can get this to work?

  • Encode JSON data into another JSON object

    - by jburns20
I have a JSON string that I would like to include as a value in a larger JSON object that I am creating from an array. How can I create the larger JSON object without php escaping the string, and without having to decode the previously encoded string? For example, if my JSON string is: $encoded_already = '{"encoded_key": "encoded_value"}'; And I would like to include it in my array and json_encode() it: $new_array = array( "some_other_key" => $some_value, "premade_data" => $encoded_already ); $output = json_encode($new_array); but I want to have the $encoded_already string be included as actual JSON, not just an escaped string.

  • NSPredicate by NSManagedObject for many-to-one lookups

    - by niklassaers
Hi guys, I've got the scenario with two NSManagedObjects, Arm and Person. Between them is a many-to-one relationship Person.arms and inverse Arm.owner. I'd like to write a simple NSPredicate where I've got the NSManagedObject *arm and I'd like to fetch the NSManagedObject *person that this arm belongs to. I could make a textual representation and look for that, but is there a better way where I can look it up by identity? Something like this perhaps? NSEntityDescription *person = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Person" inManagedObjectContext:MOC]; NSPredicate *personPredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"%@ IN arms", arm]; Cheers Nik

  • How to pull data from a MySQL column and put it into a single array

    - by Rob
Basically, this is what I currently use in an included file: $sites[0]['url'] = "http://example0.com"; $sites[1]['url'] = "http://example1.com"; $sites[2]['url'] = "http://example2.com"; $sites[3]['url'] = "http://example3.com"; $sites[4]['url'] = "http://example4.com"; $sites[5]['url'] = "http://example5.com"; And so I output it like so: foreach($sites as $s) But I want to make it easier to manage via a MySQL database. So my question is, how can I make it automatically add additional "$sites[x]['url'] = "http://examplex.com";" and output it appropriately from my MySQL table?

  • Strategy for Offline/Online data synchronization

    - by Adi
My requirement is I have server J2EE web application and client J2EE web application. Sometimes client can go offline. When client comes online he should be able to synchronize changes to and fro. Also I should be able to control which rows/tables need to be synchronized based on some filters/rules. Is there any existing Java frameworks for doing it? If I need to implement on my own, what are the different strategies that you can suggest? One solution in my mind is maintaining sql logs and executing same statements at other side during synchronization. Do you see any problems with this strategy?

  • HT create a new vector in data frame that takes correlation of existing vectors

    - by Milktrader
I have a time series of two indexes, with each row representing the closing price on the same day. I'd like to go to row 30 and lookback over the last 30 'days' and calculate the pearson correlation. And then store that value in a new vector. Then, repeat the calculation for the entire time series. It is a trivial task in Excel, so I'm convinced it can be done in R. I don't know the method to use though.

  • Model-Controller cyclic reference/design problem

    - by jasamer
I have a CoreData entity X, and controllers for this entity, XController. Now there's another entity, XGroup, containing a collection of X entities, and a XGroupController. Now the problem is that XGroupController needs to interact with XController, and it would be nice to just pass XGroupController a XGroup to observe, and then get the XControllers from the X entities. So the question is: is it a good idea to store a (weak, to avoid retain cycles) reference to a controller in an entity? It just feels a bit "wrong". Is there another design pattern for this?

  • How to send large objects using boost::asio

    - by Max
Good day. I'm receiving a large objects via the net using boost::asio. And I have a code: for (int i = 1; i <= num_packets; i++) boost::asio::async_read(socket_, boost::asio::buffer(Obj + packet_size * (i - 1), packet_size), boost::bind(...)); Where My_Class * Obj. I'm in doubt if that approach possible (because i have a pointer to an object here)? Or how it would be better to receive this object using packets of fixed size in bytes? Thanks in advance.

  • Get percentiles of data-set with group by month

    - by Cylindric
Hello, I have a SQL table with a whole load of records that look like this: | Date | Score | + -----------+-------+ | 01/01/2010 | 4 | | 02/01/2010 | 6 | | 03/01/2010 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 2 | I'm plotting this on a chart, so I get a nice line across the graph indicating score-over-time. Lovely. Now, what I need to do is include the average score on the chart, so we can see how that changes over time, so I can simply add this to the mix: SELECT YEAR(SCOREDATE) 'Year', MONTH(SCOREDATE) 'Month', MIN(SCORE) MinScore, AVG(SCORE) AverageScore, MAX(SCORE) MaxScore FROM SCORES GROUP BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) ORDER BY YEAR(SCOREDATE), MONTH(SCOREDATE) That's no problem so far. The problem is, how can I easily calculate the percentiles at each time-period? I'm not sure that's the correct phrase. What I need in total is: A line on the chart for the score (easy) A line on the chart for the average (easy) A line on the chart showing the band that 95% of the scores occupy (stumped) It's the third one that I don't get. I need to calculate the 5% percentile figures, which I can do singly: SELECT MAX(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE ASC) AS SubQ SELECT MIN(SubQ.SCORE) FROM (SELECT TOP 45 PERCENT SCORE FROM SCORES WHERE YEAR(SCOREDATE) = 2010 AND MONTH(SCOREDATE) = 1 ORDER BY SCORE DESC) AS SubQ But I can't work out how to get a table of all the months. | Date | Average | 45% | 55% | + -----------+---------+-----+-----+ | 01/01/2010 | 13 | 11 | 15 | | 02/01/2010 | 10 | 8 | 12 | | 03/01/2010 | 5 | 4 | 10 | ... | 16/03/2010 | 7 | 7 | 9 | At the moment I'm going to have to load this lot up into my app, and calculate the figures myself. Or run a larger number of individual queries and collate the results.

  • Opposite of Bloom filter?

    - by abc
Hi, I'm trying to optimize a piece of software which is basically running millions of tests. These tests are generated in such a way that there can be some repetitions. Of course, I don't want to spend time running tests which I already ran if I can avoid it efficiently. So, I'm thinking about using a Bloom filter to store the tests which have been already ran. However, the Bloom filter errs on the unsafe side for me. It gives false positives. That is, it may report that I've ran a test which I haven't. Although this could be acceptable in the scenario I'm working on, I was wondering if there's an equivalent to a Bloom filter, but erring on the opposite side, that is, only giving false negatives. I've skimmed through the literature without any luck.
