  • vs2010 Cache SQL data incorrect fields

    OK, I found a walkthrough on msdn for what I was after (offline database cache). However when I let the wizard create a local database from my online sql server the timespan fields are converted to a string?? Now I know the suggestion was to create my own local database and then use the MS Synch framework...however...this proclaims to do it "out of the box" However now I've a dataset which I've no idea how to use, and a database newly formed (for the synched cache) taht I will have to use Ling to Entities with(??) meanwhile I have this weird timespan to string conversion? should I give up now or push on? can i overwrite the the .designer.cs? typeof(string) to typeof(timespan)? damn wizards!!

    Hi all. Consider the deletion procedure on a BST, when the node to delete has two children. Let's say i always replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree. The question is: is this procedure commutative? That is, deleting x and then y has the same result than deleting first y and then x? I think the answer is no, but i can't find a counterexample, nor figure out any valid reasoning. Thank you. EDIT: Maybe i've got to be clearer. Consider the transplant(node x, node y) procedure: it replace x with y (and its subtree). So, if i want to delete a node (say x) which has two children i replace it with the node holding the minimum key in its right subtree: y = minimum(x.right) transplant(y, y.right) // extracts the minimum (it doesn't have left child) y.right = x.right y.left = x.left transplant(x,y) The question was how to prove the procedure above is not commutative.

  • Building a NSPredicate for a filter

    Hi, Just wondering what the best way to build a NSPredicate is if some filters are optional? This is basically for a filter, so if some options aren't selected I don't to filter by them eg. If I have option1 and option2 set for the filter. NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@ AND option2 = %@] .... otherwise if just option1 NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@] .... The key being there are 10 different options to filter, so I don't want to have to code for the 10x10 possible combinations. Thanks

  • Problem processing large data using Applet-Servlet communication

    Hi everyone. I have an Applet that makes a request to a Servlet. On the servlet it's using the PrintWriter to write the response back to Applet: out.println("Field1|Field2|Field3|Field4|Field5......|Field10"); There are about 15000 records, so the out.println() gets executed about 15000 times. Problem is that when the Applet gets the response from Servlet it takes about 15 minutes to process the records. I placed System.out.println's and processing is paused at around 5000, then after 15 minutes it continues processing and then its done. Has anyone faced a similar problem? The servlet takes about 2 seconds to execute. So seems that the browser/Applet is too slow to process the records. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

  • Why increase pointer by two while finding loop in linked list, why not 3,4,5?

    I had a look at question already which talk about algorithm to find loop in a linked list. I have read Floyd's cycle-finding algorithm solution, mentioned at lot of places that we have to take two pointers. One pointer( slower/tortoise ) is increased by one and other pointer( faster/hare ) is increased by 2. When they are equal we find the loop and if faster pointer reaches null there is no loop in the linked list. Now my question is why we increase faster pointer by 2. Why not something else? Increasing by 2 is necessary or we can increase it by X to get the result. Is it necessary that we will find a loop if we increment faster pointer by 2 or there can be the case where we need to increment by 3 or 5 or x.

    I already posted a question closely related to the this one. I watched the Mix10 video with P. Haacked and S. Hanselman. I am building an AJAX-powered site whose input forms are created on the fly. All the code to accomplish this is done within a script tag or a javascript file. For example the following DOM elements are created when the page loads and are wrapped into an existing div defined in a view: $('#myform').append('); $('#myform').append(''); When I click the submit button I need to get the values of the input form whose id is 'Name': $("#Name").val() and then I return a Json object: { Name: name }; For this kind of scenario there is no way to use Html.Encode() or AntiXss.HtmlEncode() on the client-side. The only way to check if the input is not harmful is done on the server-side (via a service layer). This seems a limitation. All is fine if and only if a view has a set of predefined inputs. Each segment in the list is indexed according to another vector of indexes: >index.list 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 In list.stuff, only at each of the indexes 1,3,5,10,15 will there be 2 vectors and one matrix; everything else will be null like [[2]]. What I want to do is to lag like the lag.xts function so that whatever is stored in [[1]] will be pushed to [[3]] and the last one drops off. This also requires subsetting the list, if its possible. I was wondering if there exists some functions that handle list manipulation.     I'm currently reading a regularly updated XML file with PHP (simpleXML). I'd like to reduce calls to the remote server by reading a cache file on my web server, then after some time, retrieving a new copy of the remote file. Is this an accepted practice for reading remote XML files, then parsing? Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to go about this in PHP, or perhaps there are some PEAR classes that deal with this?

  • Getting user data from Active Directory using PL/SQL

    I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?

I see this in fiddler. If get rid of the javascript and click the button above, it goes through how it should. Why is JQuery changing my text?

    In C, I know I can dynamically allocate a two-dimensional array on the heap using the following code: int** someNumbers = malloc(arrayRows*sizeof(int*)); for (i = 0; i < arrayRows; i++) { someNumbers[i] = malloc(arrayColumns*sizeof(int)); } Clearly, this actually creates a one-dimensional array of pointers to a bunch of separate one-dimensional arrays of integers, and "The System" can figure you what I mean when I ask for: someNumbers[4][2]; But when I statically declare a 2D array, as in the following line...: int someNumbers[ARRAY_ROWS][ARRAY_COLUMNS]; ...does a similar structure get created on the stack, or is it of another form completely? (i.e. is it a 1D array of pointers? If not, what is it, and how do references to it get figured out?) Also, when I said, "The System," what is actually responsible for figuring that out? The kernel? Or does the C compiler sort it out while compiling?

    I've setup Mapnik to connect to a PostGIS database, and display geometry. I'd like to have a column in my database called opacity, and use it as the opacity for that row of geometry when Mapnik renders it. So far, I've only found information on how to display text from the database, and how to use filters to display different styles when database values are within parameters. Nothing about how to use the values directly inside of a style or layer though - is this possible?

If I have a class UserInformation which has getPhoneNumber, getCreditCardNumber methods, how would I customise log4j or this class so that it will obscure the numbers correctly. I want the credit card number to be output as xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1234 and the phone number to be output as xxxx-xxx-xxx given that these would be 1234-1234-1234-1234 and 1234-567-890 Thanks
