  • possible to have a background color transition from color A to color B without repeating a pixel sti

    For things like menubars and headers, a background color is nice. But a background color that gracefully transitions from say Blue to White is even nicer. I know this can be done by making a 1-pixel wide, X-pixel tall image file containing the desired fade and repeating it across the div, but does CSS have native support to just define colors and be done with it? Can any other language handle this?

  • Why does Samba/CIFS suck so badly. [closed]

    Seriously, machines refusing to save data because files THEY HAVE OPEN are locked BY THEMSELVES. Getting 200+ connections simultaneously takes it out despite a plethora of available disk and network bandwidth. You can't turn off CUPS you have to COMPILE WITHOUT IT. DFS support is completely broken and pretty much useless in the current state (as in DFS for load balancing, not replication). We should just move to NFS and find a DFS like namespace aggregator.

    I've just updated to the AJAX Control Toolkit 3.5, changed the ScriptManager to the ToolkitScriptManager in my master page and now the following javascript error occurs when an Edit button is clicked: "Object doesn't support this property or method" The line of code cuasing the error is: this._destroyTree(updatePanelElement); Any initial ideas before I post masses of code?

  • gtk2 auto translation is choosing the wrong language

    Not sure if yall can help this time, as I'm just using this particular program not coding with it... I downloaded Deluge, a free torrent app, and it requires GTK2 Runtime which I've also installed. Unfortunately, on my English WinXP with East Asian Language support Deluge sets itself to Chinese menus and has no option to alter the language. A bit of poking around on the internet suggests this is due to GTK2 selecting the wrong default language. Does anyone know how I can override this?

Simply put how can I pass this object between activities to maintain my session variables? Bundle.put... doesn't seem to support this object. If it does how does it work with DefaultHttpClient?     I am looking to use ogg vorbis, instead of mp3s to stream audio. It seems that Flash player does not natively support ogg. Is there a codec engine that can be embedded with the app itself that can play .ogg instead of .mp3? In general, what would be a better format than mp3 for streaming audio and that is supported by Flash?

    Did Spring abandon YAML to use as an alternative to .properties / .xml because of: [Spring Developer]: ...YAML was considered, but we thought that counting whitespace significant was a support nightmare in the making... [reference from spring forum] I am confident YAML makes a lot of sense for properties, and I am using it currently on the project, but have difficulties to inject properties in a <property name="productName" value="${client.product.name}" /> fashion.   • Scrolling inside Vim in Mac's Terminal

    I've been googling around trying to figure out if it's possible to use my mouse wheel to scroll while inside Vim in Mac's Terminal, with no luck. It seems as if only X11 or iTerm support this. Before I give up, I thought I'd try the geniuses here to see if anyone knows a way to do this. So, does anyone know if I can set that up? Or should I seriously consider using a different terminal application?

  • Refcounted pointers on iPhone

    1) Refcounted pointers need stack variables to have constructors / destructors called at predictable places. 2) Objective-C, afaik, does not support the above. 3) The cocoa libraries are bound in Objective-C, not C++. Thus, my question: is there a easy way to use the Cocoa libraries, yet still have most of my app in C++ (and thus use my refcounted pointers)? Thanks!
