• Can an appdomain in C# be restricted to one directory?

  I am developing a plugin host. The plugins should have as little trust as they need, however I want to have the possibility for a plugin to read and write files. Can the AppDomain where the assembly will be loaded be restricted to have access to only one directory for reading and writing? Other options and ways to go about this are also appreciated like for example easy ways to stream file data from the host to the plugin (reading) and from the plugin to the host (writing). • Using jQuery.get with a file up a directory?

  I'm using jQuery to write a simple utility app that's just run locally. It'll read from a list of files using jQuery.get and then display them along with some meta-data (which resides in a separate file). The images and meta files live in ../scored_images/*.[jpg|meta] I can load the file list with jQuery.get just fine (it's in the current directory), and I can load up the images and display them without a problem. However when I go to load the meta file for display, jQuery.get seems to silently fail. I can load them fine if the path doesn't have ../ in it. Is there a way to work around this behavior?

• Why is my upload-of-a-file code putting 2 sets of files into my directory? (PHP)

  I am developing a C# VS 2008 website, trying to add a Master file. I created a virtual directory in IIS housing the "Master" folder, containing the Master files. Now how do I reference these files from my website in VS? One problem is I do not know where I need to publish this Master folder to. Other problem is I do not know how to reference this Master file in my aspx Page directive. FYI, this master folder is physically located outside of c:\inetpub\ in a totally separate file location. Is this a problem?

• What's the fastest way to get directory and subdirs size on unix using Perl?

  I am using Perl stat() function to get the size of directory and its subdirectories. I have a list of about 20 parent directories which have few thousand recursive subdirs and every subdir has few hundred records. • Have a workaround for the 1,000 file limit in a directory on windows mobile 5?

  I need to download more than 1,000 files into a windows mobile 5 directory located on the storage card. If i copy the files onto the storage card via my desktop there is no problem. But when i try to download the files from the handheld device I get a disk full error, even though there is plenty of room due to the 1,000 file limit. Has anyone run into this and found a workaround? I'm going to try zipping all of the files then decompressing on the device but not sure that this will work.

• How to resolve "svn: Can't find a temporary directory: Internal error"?

  I have already googled the message, and I have plenty of disk space available on the SVN server (it's about 4% usage of 150 GB). I have noticed that when I try echo $TMPDIR at the command prompt on the SVN server I get nothing. What is making this a little confusing is that I only get this message from one location when I do an svn diff (that I've tested so far) - this error is not coming up when I try from three other computers (one of which is testing against the exact same repository, the other two are different repositories on the same svn server). About the only difference I can see is that the broken working copy is connecting to the server by an IP address where all the others are using a server name (although this resolves over DNS to the same IP Address). I'm hoping that I don't have to scratch the broken working copy and checkout a new one - unfortunately, this is a legacy project and not all changes have been properly revisioned.

  So I've already checked through my config file and I really can't see an instance where any tag hasn't been properly closed...but I keep getting this configuration error...Would you mind taking a look through the error and the config file below? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. FYI, I've already googled the life out of the error and looked through the log extensively, I really can't find anything. • getting a pyserial not loaded error

  I'm getting a "pyserial not loaded" error with the python script fragment below (running OSX 10.7.4). I'm trying to run a python app called Myro for controlling the Parallax Scribbler2 robot - figured it would be a fun way to learn a bit of Python - but I'm not getting out of the gate here. I've searched out all the Myro help docs but like a lot in-progress open source programs, they are a moving target and conflicting, out of date, or not very specific about OSX. I have MacPorts installed and installed py27-serial without error. MacPorts lists the python versions I have installed, along with the active version: Available versions for python: none python24 python25 python25-apple python26 python26-apple python27 python27-apple (active) python32 Perhaps stuff is getting installed in the wrong places or my PATH is wrong (I don't much know what I am doing in Terminal and have probably screwed something up).   I am trying to set up SSL in Apache but when I go to the server in Firefox I get the following error message: An error occurred during a connection to sludge.home. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.   It looks like I've got a dead Antec True 330 power supply in an older desktop that has an Intel D845PESV motherboard, a Pentium 2.4GHz processor, 2 dvd/cd writers, 2 hard drives, and other typical devices. I have an even older computer that is not being used that has a 200W power supply. Can a 200W power supply drive what I've listed above? Or, put another way, what is the minimum power supply specs for the above system? (A new 350W power supply will run me $30--so buying a new one is not a problem--but I'm curious about the question nonetheless).

• Windows 2008 R2 SMB / CIFS Logging to diagnose Brother MFC Network Scanning

  I am attempting to setup network scanning on a brother MFC-9970CDW printer. According to the Brother documentation, the printer is setup to connect to any CIFS network share. I applied all of the appropriate setting in the printer however I get a "sending error" when I try to scan a document. When I look at the logs of the 2008 R2 server that I am attempting to connect to; I can see in the security log where the printer successfully authenticates, however nothing else is logged. I would assume that immediately after the authentication, the printer is making a CIFS request and some sort of error is occurring, however I can't seem to find any way to log this information to find out what is going on. Is it possible to get Windows 2008 to log SMB/CIFS traffic? • Apache2: not defined domains directing to the same virtual host

  I have Apache2 configured in a debian box with virtual hosts. I have several domains pointing to the box's IP address. The domains whose virtual hosts are configured works perfectly. But if I type in the browser a domain that is pointing to the box but whose the virtual host is not configured, I get to a random virtual host of another domain in the box. Not a random, but one of the virtual hosts (always the same) but I dunno why it is it. The correct would be that the domains that are not configured as virtual hosts return a hostname error or something, right? Does someone know how to fix the problem?   Hello! I have a server with two 1.5TB hard drives. I was going to install a Windows Server 2008 R2 and create software RAID1 using Windows Disk Management Utility. I instaleld Windows, open this console and that is what I see: http://i.imgur.com/KoC9a.png Setup program created a System Reserved Partition at my second HDD. I don't understand now, how can I create RAID1, because space, which supposed to be used for copy of disk C, now is used for this hidden partition. So is there any way now to create correct RAID1? May it is possible to move this partition to the Disk 0, where I have plenty of free space? Unfortunately I can't reinstall Windows and apply other options at the disk management step of the installation, because installation image is not longer connected to the server and I have no physical access to server, only remote desktop.

  I recently moved webserver, from a ubuntuserver set up by my brother (I have sudo) to a rasbianserver set up by my self. On the other server multiviews worked out of the box, but on the raspbian it does not seem to work althoug it seems to be enabled out of the box there as well. What I am trying to do is to get it to find my.doma.in/mobile.php when I enter my.doma.in/mobile in the adress field. • How do I restore a non-system hard drive using Time Machine under OSX?

  I dropped one of the external drives on my Mac Pro and it started making noises... so I bought a replacement drive. No biggie, that's why I have Time Machine, right? So now that I have the new drive up and initialized, how do I actually restore the drive from backup? Time Machine is intuitive when it comes to restoring the system drive or restoring individual folders/files on the same literal device, but I'm a bit stuck in how to properly restore an entire drive that is not the boot drive. I saw one suggestion to use the same volume name as the old drive and then go into Time Machine. Haven't tried that since the information is unconfirmed. For now, I just went to the Time Machine volume, found the latest backup folder for that volume, and I'm copying the files via Finder. Of couse, I expect this to work just fine, but I feel like I'm missing something if that's the "proper" way to do this.

• How can I make it difficult to install a new operating system on a certain computer?

  I want to host a website on a desktop computer running Ubuntu with a Windows virtual machine. I will give away the computer in exchange for a number of months of remote web hosting. I want to add some kind of lock (hardware or otherwise) so that the end users will have difficulty just reinstalling Windows and using the machine as they want, in contradiction to the contract. Ideally, I'd want the machine to die if reinstallation of the OS is attempted. It doesn't have to be completely insurmountable, but it has to be difficult enough to prevent casual reinstallation. Perhaps on bootup the system can check whether certain files exist on the computer and refuse to boot if they do not. I don't know if this is possible, but maybe BIOS is password protected, and searches for files before boot up. The files it looks for could be date sensitive, i.e. require remote replacement on a schedule.

  So before I started putting websites on my VPS, I could access the IP directly and it would access the html folder in the /var/www/ area. But ever since I placed websites on the VPS, I can no longer access that HTML folder, it goes to the first domain I have listed on the httpd.conf file. Is there a way I can make the IP its self look like a website in the httpd conf file? I tried to construct it like the other websites but httpd would stop working.
