• Using Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code

  Is it possible to use Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code? I have a Windows Mobile application written using Lazarus(Object pascal) and I want to use it with Symbol MC70. The sdk that they have are for C, .NET and Java. I had a look at the C sdk and it comes with .LIB files which I cannot use with Object Pascal. I have no clue as to how the scanner is working with .NET stuff, I could not see a WIN32 dll in the files provided, maybe it is in the cab file. Any suggestions as to what I should do to get the scanners to work for me. Sandeep

• How to configure SQLite db in Visual Studio

  I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

  I need to build a DSL Solution using MsBuild and want to be able to transform the TT files, I have tried the guide on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee847423(VS.100).aspx but I am getting the following errors: Failed to resolve include text for file:{0} and also Loading the include file '{0}' returned a null or empty string. There is a page on MSDN which has these issues and there resolutions : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb126242(VS.100).aspx but don't really give me enough information to resolve the issue. One thing to note in the error it has the following path: Error 72 Failed to resolve include text for file:C:\source\XXXXXXXX\Dsl\GeneratedCode\Dsl\ToolboxHelper.tt. Line=-1, Column=-1 Dsl but the location of the actual TT file is C:\source\XXXXXXXX\Dsl\GeneratedCode\ToolboxHelper.tt

  I'm overlaying the mapview and using RegexKitLite. I couldn't make it work. I've downloaded .m and .h files and added to the project. Also I tried, adding libicucore.dylib or libicucore.A.dlib or adding -licucore to other compiler flags field.   Heya, I want to create a winforms app where you can assign tags to an entity. ofc I want the customer to re-use existing tags a lot. That's why I want to show them the list of tags while they are typing (similar to intellisense in VS and the tags-dropdown even here in stackoverflow ;)) do you have any control(s) in mind that offers this functionality? can I reuse a ComboBox for this? (here I need to drop it down programatically - how?) I want to have the taglist getting input-focus but not lose the mainform-focus, and I want it to be on top over all windows and even range out of the mainform-area (like intellisense in vs) thx!

• SVN post commit stucks while starting process

  Hi, I've built a script in VS that receives the 2 arguments sent by post-commit hook. The script runs SVN LOG to retrieve data about the revision (author, date, files). When I run the solution from VS with constant vars for the arguments, it runs perfectly. When I execute the exe file, also runs perfectly. • Inserting snippets from macros

  In Visual Studio 2008 I had a macro which would insert a snippet and input today's date in one of the replacements. When I try to run this macro in VS 2010 it doesn't work. No matter how I try it will not insert a snippet. When I try the following command: DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.InvokeSnippetFromShortcut", "snippetName") This fails with error "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. I tried recording a new macro and when I pressed the keyboard shortcut for inserting a snippet (Ctrl+K, Ctrl+X) VS gave the error "The command Insert Snippet is not currently available." Did MS remove the ability to insert snippets from macros? If so this really is a shame because macros have functionality not found in snippets and vice versa.

  Hi, I got a problem migrating from VS.Net 2008 / MVC 1 to VS.NET 2010 (+C# 4.0) / MVC 2 The web.config has been updated, the site runs well in Cassini, but my problem now is deploying on IIS 6. I updated the web site to run using ASP.Net 4, but whatever URL I try, I always have a 404 error. It's as if the routing was not taken into account (yes, the wildcard mapping has been done).   Hi, I am working with Entity Framework 4.0 (VS 2010 Beta 2, NOT RC). I can model the EDM and produce the required database. When I ask VS to generate the code for the model, it generates the expected .designer.cs file. When I look at the factory methods for each entity that the designer has generated, I've noticed that it doesn't include all of the properties of the entity. Is it correct to say that the factory method only includes properties that cannot be null ? This appears to be the case, but I'm not entirely sure. Thanks, Scott

  I am building an application which is based on a sample application, written in C# on .NET 2, and is built on VS2008. This application is mostly a wrapper for a COM application. However I compile it in .NET 3.5. The sample application came with the following files in it's bin\debug: appName.vshost.exe appName.vshost.exe.manifest I noticed that I can delete the files and VS re-builds vshost.exe, and the vshost.manifest file appears with modification date the same as the deleted file as if VS has copied in from somewhere. My question is, should I put this files in my SVN code repository?

• Why does MSBuild fail from the command line where VS2008 succeeds?

  I have an ASP.NET solution that builds just fine from within VS2008. However , it fails when i do this : MSBUILD.exe c:\path-to-sln It fails with a CS0006 error ("Metadata file 'dll_name' could not be found"). It also fails when I try with a .csproj of a project within the solution. What is VS2008 doing that MSBuild is missing ? It is my understanding that VS knows about inter assembly dependencies that MSBuild cant. Is there any way I can inform MSBuild of these? (I need MSBuild to work from the command line because I am calling it from an MSBuild-Task from within CruiseControl.Net.) • Test azure application in dev fabric.

  Hi, I have a created a sample web role application using cloud service. Before hosting my application in cloud, i want to test the application in dev fabric. I am sure that when we run the application from VS, it creates an environment that simulates the cloud. But if i want to give my application for testing to QA, do i still need to give my source to them and run the application from VS under dev fabric or do we any other way in running my deployed package under dev fabric. In a line my question is, How do i run my packaged azure application under dev fabric before hosting in Cloud? Can anyone having an idea, please share me some information? Thanks, Kiran

  Hello! I would like to know if somebody knows free custom nice controls for .NET Compact Framework 2.0. There are nice controls as Manila Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566188), Sense Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648906) and so on for free, but they work only on .NET CF 3.5. Furthermore, there are others that you have to pay for them and for .NET CF 2.0 and 3.5 (Resco or Touch Control Suite). And there is one called Fluid (http://fluid.codeplex.com/) but it's so complicated, there are not exactly controls (are classes added to a host control) and there is not much documentation to work with it. Any nice controls for free and working in .NET CF 2.0? And with list sliders if it's possible? Thanks!

• Running directx samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

  I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device and running it works). When I try to run the application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set...

  I'm using MS Visual Studio 2008, OpenCV, C++ and SVM for a OCR-related project. At least I can run the code until yesterday, when I open the project to continue working, VS reported this error: error C2664: 'bool CvSVM::train(const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,CvSVMParams)' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'cv::Mat' to 'const CvMat *' It didn't happen before and I haven't changed any code relating to it (I only changed the parameters for the kernel). The code got error is: Mat curTrainData, curTrainLabel; CvSVM svm; . . . svm.train(curTrainData, curTrainLabel, Mat(), Mat(), params); If I hover on the code, I still got this tip: image. Which means my syntax isn't wrong. So why do VS bother to report such an error?

• armv6 / armv7 errors when compiling for iPhone

  I am having problems trying to compile my App to my iPhone. I upgraded to the new SDK and have 4.0 on my phone... which I did not do that. I am compiling for 3.1.2 - It works fine in the simulator but when I "build" for the Device, it gives me this line of errors: Link /Users/me/Apps/myapp/build/app.build/Debug-iphoneos/app.build/objects-normal/armv7/appname In /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.1.3.sdk/user/lib/libz.dylib, missing required architecture armv7 in file then the actual failure occurs on: Command /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 Any help would be greatly appreciated

• Visual Studio 2008 freezing when editing aspx/master pages

  Visual Studio freezes up continually when I'm editing master pages or aspx files. Here's what I've tried that have not helped: restarting VS only working with few files open at a time Disabled all addins (resharper etc.) deleted .suo and .user files changed default editor from Web Form Editor and Master Page Editor to HTML Editor installed SP1 I don't have tons of files - 3 Master pages and maybe 30 aspx files. It is a asp.net mvc project. All I have to do to get VS to freeze is type a little text or even just paste. The freezing lasts a good 5-10 seconds. My machine has 4GB of RAM and fast disks. Could it have anything to do with asp.net mvc? Would the amount and size of other projects in the solution affect the editor?

  Hello Everyone, I developed an application using VS 2008 and MS Access2007 and it works fine. Now have to make a setup of it(this is my first project). I gone through many tutorials about deployment, I tried VS 2008 setup and deployment, but after installation it only runs in my machine and not in others..sometimes it shows error(The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine(that machine had both VS2008 and MS Access installed)). I been a week since, i tried what i can and still trying, cant believe that i am strucked here, nothing seems to work. Please help...   Hi, I'm looking for independent industry reports that compare and contrast the various source control tools out there. In particular, I care about Clearcase vs Sourcesafe vs SVN, but if the report includes other SCM systems that's fine. I need this for a client who wants to get a feel on exactly what they stand to gain switching to SVN (yes, from Clearcase and VSS). In other words, something I can use to sell it to their business.
