    Is there any bandwidth overhead on using SSL on a TCP connection? I understand, of course, the processing/memory usage overhead in encrypting and decrypting packets, but as far as bandwidth is concerned, what is the difference, if any? For example, given a XML file which is 64KB, will there be any tangible difference in the transfer size of the file over HTTP vs. HTTPS? (Ignoring mod_deflate and mod_gzip, of course)

Next, A3 is the file name and B3 is the content for the file, etc. ONCE the content reads what is in cell A16 and B16 (length will vary), the file creation should stop, if not then I can delete the additional files created. This sheet will never change. Is there a way to establish the excel macro to always go to this sheet instead of have to select it with the mouse to identify the starting point? 2nd Objective I would like to have the following data to be used to create a text file. A:1 is what I need the name of the file to be. B:B is the content I want in the file. So, A2 - is the file name "geo-sitemap.xml" and B:B to be the content in the file (ignore the .xml file extension in the photo).   • Windows 7 Sysprep unattended doesn't work!

    Hi all, I have a Windows 7 machine that I have run Sysprep on using the following command Sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /unattend:c:\sysprep.xml When the PC shutsdown I upload it to my Windows Deployment Server (2008 R2), when I turn the PC back on the unattended install works fine, if I download the image from the deployment server it ignores the unattended install and I get prompted for all the settings.     Can't get this to work at all! I'm trying to get this linux box to act as a transparent proxy and, with the help of DHCP, force everyone on the network to gate into the proxy. I have two ethernet connections, both to the same switch. And I'm trying to get 192.168.1.234 to become the default gateway. The actual WAN connection is to a gateway 192.168.1.1. eth0 is 192.168.1.234 eth1 is 192.168.1.2 Effectively I'm trying to make eth0 a LAN only interface and eth1 a WAN interface. I've oi should set the gateway for eth1 to point to 192.168.1.234 my squid.conf file has the following directives added at the bottom: nly set eth0 to have a gateway address in /etc/network/interfaces I'm not sure whether http_port 3128 transparent acl lan src 192.168.1.0/24 acl lh src 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.0 http_access allow lan http_access allow lh i've added the following routing commands: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination 192.168.1.2:3128 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 3128 I set a computer with TCP settings 192.168.1.234 as the gateway and opened up google.com, but it comes up with a request error.     I am posting a question on behalf of my administrator. Basically he wants to set up Django app (made on Django 1.3, but will be moving to Django 1.4, so it should not really matter which one of these two will work, I hope) on WSGI on nginx, installed on Amazon EC2. The app runs correctly when Django's development server is used (with ./manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8080 for example), also Apache works correctly. The only problem is with nginx and it looks there is something else wrong with nginx / WSGI or Django configuration. His description is as follows: Server has been configured according to many tutorials, but unfortunately Nginx and uWSGI still do not work with application.     I'm trying to consume a SOAP web service from excel. Now according to This article (and confirmed by other articles and MSDN) if I do the following: Install the web services toolkit (I've installed v2.01) Install SOAP Toolkit 3.0 Add a reference to Microsoft Soap Type Library (I've tried v3.0 and an older one) I should get a "Web Service References" menu item in the Tools menu but I don't. I've also tried adding every reference that seemed to have anything to do with SOAP or XML, but it hasn't helped. Any ideas?

RAM is 64GB. The memory consumption increases gradually and we run out of memory. Then only rebooting releases all the memory, but then process of memory consumption starts again and reaches 63-64GB in less than a day.   • Disable mod_cache to fix website

    I am working on a website that runs on WordPress. The an error occurs when accessing the blog page that it displays the RSS feed (in XML) rather than the posts. After some research I found out the when enabling mod_cache this error sometimes occurs. I see when looking at the apache2 modules enabled apache2ctl -M it shows that mod_cache, mod_mem_cache and mod_disc_cache are enabled. What should I disable in order to resolve this problem?

  • Apache/Jboss Issue - is this connection timeout?

    We have an application. The architecture is as below 1 load balancer (apache), which redirects to 2 app servers (jboss). The site is working fine and I am able to access it fine. But sometimes, randomly the homepage takes a while (like 30-40 secs) to load. I tried checking the logs but could not figure out why. I used the httptraffic analyzer, fiddler to see the traffic, but it just says the request/response took 30 secs or so. I checked the apache access logs, mod_jk.log.     Does anyone here write their own customized AutoYaST scripts for building SLES servers? I'm not talking about generating them with yast2 autoyast. If so, have you found a way to verify the syntax? xmllint is good as far as telling you that the XML syntax is valid, but with an upto date DTD, it can't tell you anything more, and the shipped DTDs are out-of-date. I've opened a ticket with Novell on this, but who knows when and what I'll hear back.

I've written something which basically does this but it doesn't handle snapshots, which requires parsing maven-metadata.xml.   • Windows 7 fails to install on KVM with qemu

    I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine on my 64 bit Ubuntu Karmic box. I get to the point of selecting my language settings and clicking 'install now', but a short while later I get a blue screen of death. I've tried a few variations, including using the 32 bit (fails very quickly). The virt-install command I've tried includes this: sudo virt-install --connect qemu:///system -n ksm-win7 -r 2048 \ --disk path=/home/kief/VM-Images/ksm-win7.qcow2,size=50 \ -c /var/Software/Windows7/Full/64bit/SW_DVD5_SA_Win_Ent_7_64BIT_English_Full_MLF_X15-70749.ISO \ --vnc --os-type windows --os-variant vista --hvm The limited info I could find suggested that 'vista' should work as the --os-variant, I haven't found any values specific to windows 7. Here's my blue screen: I've found very little by Googling, so I'm guessing this isn't a case of KVM simply not supporting Windows 7. Thanks for any help. Update: I have been able to successfully create a Windows 7 VM using the graphical "Virtual Machine Manager" app, although I don't really understand the cause of the problem with the VM created with virt-install. Comparing the configuration files under /etc/libvirt/qemu provides some clues, although I don't know enough to interpret them properly. But at least it is possible to get it running on a KVM VM.
