    I would really like to augment my knowledge of Algebraic Geometry from the lectures by Miles Reid which can be found here. However, since I do not have fast Internet all the time, I am searching ways to download these lectures and view them offline.   • Can I make Terminal.app open different profiles with shortcut like iTerm?

    I've been using iTerm for a while, but I switched back to Terminal.app in Snow Leopard due to the Visor plugin. Most of thing works pretty well after I switched to Terminal.app, except in iTerm, I can create different profiles and assign each profile with key shortcut. The advantage of this setup is that I can have non-transparency and transparency profile. If I need to look up a command on the background, I can start a transparency shell, and vice versa. I was thinking to use Mac built-in "Application shortcut" in System preference. Though, I realize in Terminal.app, the "New Window" and "New Tab" have the same profile names, so the Application shortcut is confused and I can't assign a shortcut to it... Any thought on how to change menu name on Terminal (or even better, any application?) Thanks for your help.

    I link contacts together in people app. Very usefull feature for me. But how can I change picture of contact? For example I link together Skype, Facebook and Gmail accounts of somebody and People app show me picture for example from Facebook for this contact. But I want set picture from Skype or Gmail. Or remove picture completely for example. Is it possible? I easily can do it on my Windows Phone 7.5, in same People app. Does Microsoft forget about this functional in windows 8?

  • Oracle on windows cluster with online/offline IPs

    I have a windows cluster (on windows 2008 server) with nodes in different subnets. So cluster has two IPs, one for each node (I'm talking not about node IP, but about cluster IP). One is online, the other is offline. Is it possible to run Oracle Fail Safe on this configuration? I've tried to install it, but it gives me the following error when trying to verify group or add database to group: FS-10220: Network name maps to IP address in the cluster resource but maps to IP address on the system

    Looking to do my first offline defrag this weekend on Exchange 2003. Our Exchange DB is on E drive and server1 is the temporary location where there is sufficient space. Dismount the store and change to c:\program files\exchsrvr\bin Does this look like the correct command to run? eseutil /d "e:\exchdata\priv1.edb /t"\\server1\exchtemp\tempdfg.edb" Is there anything I should be aware of such as backups running at the same time etc?

  • Load Balancer sftp persistence when a server goes offline

    Let's say we have the following scenario: We have two identical *nix servers using a shared filesystem. We connect through SFTP (not FTPS) to one of them to upload a file to the shared filesystem, the server goes offline and we get redirected to the second system which is still available. My question is, would there be any connection persistence or the user will have to relogin? I guess a relogin would be needed because the ssh sessions are not shared between the two systems...     I'm in the pre-planning phase of coming up with a game design and I was wondering if there was a sensible way to stop people from editing saves in a game with offline and online components. The offline component would allow the player to play through the game and the online component would allow them to play against other players, so I would need to make sure that people hadn't edited the source code/save files while offline to gain an advantage while online. Game likely to be developed in either .Net or Java, both of which are unfortunately easy to decompile.

  • YouTube: How to Style an AngularJS App on the Device

    I installed the Droid@Screen plugin into NetBeans IDE 8 so that you can see the Android device that I held in my hand while doing the demo below. The demo shows the usage of the Terminal window to create an Ionic Framework application (from "tabs", which is one of the cool templates that the framework provides), i.e., that means I can use AngularJS to create a Cordova application out of the box, with many mobile-oriented components available out of the box. Then I deploy the app to the Chrome browser on Android, which means I can interact with it in NetBeans, e.g., for CSS styling and JavaScript debugging. In this demo, I show how the background color of the deployed app can be changed live from NetBeans. After that, once I'm happy with the styling, I deploy the app again, but this time as a Cordova app, i.e., a hybrid HTML5 application, which means the app is packaged as a native app and deployed directly to the device from NetBeans. I tried http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator with very good results, but I need an offline professional tool to rely on. Can somebody recommend such a tool? I am not a specialist font creator, so I need something like a wizard that can guide me through font optimization. Any suggestion is much appretiated!     I'm currently trying to set up an offline.manifest file for my web app to be used offline on an iOS device. For testing purposes I have a very simple HTML page that I'm trying to add to a home screen. I'm testing it on a live iPhone 4, but after the page is added to the home screen and I put the iPhone in the airplane mode and try to start my web app I get this error: "Turn Off Airplane Mode or Use Wi-Fi to Access Data" and then if I click OK I get: "Cannot Open Web App Name" "Web App Name could not be opened because it is not connected to the Internet" The following is added to the HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en" manifest="scrts/offline.manifest"> and the offline.manifest is composed as such: CACHE MANIFEST ../pics/bkgnd_iphn_settings.png ../pics/mbl_btn_fb.png ../pics/mbl_btn_twt.png ../pics/icon_57_57_bg.png ../pics/icon_72_72_bg.png ../pics/icon_114_114_bg.png ../pics/icon_144_144_bg.png ../pics/splash_320_460_bg.png ../pics/splash_768_1004_bg.png ../pics/splash_1004_768_bg.png I got all instructions on composing it from here I also adjusted the .htaccess file to add this line: AddType text/cache-manifest .manifest Any idea what am I not doing right?

  • IBM LTO 3 Tape drive periodically going "offline"

    I have a problem with a LTO 3 Tape Drive. I'm using Brightstor ArcServe Backup software with Windows Server 2003. Sometimes, the scheduled backups will stop working and going into "devices" inside this software reveals that the Tape Drive is offline. The only way to make it work again is uninstalling the Tape Drive's driver and rebooting the server: Windows then auto recognizes and installs the required drivers and the Tape Drive works again. Has anyone ever encountered a similar problem?

  • How to remove an email which is stuck in the outbox of the Windows 8 Mail app

    It's already the second time, I have an E-Mail in the outbox of the Mail-app of Windows 8 which is stuck. I don't see the exact reason why this happens (I have no big files attached to the mails and the recipient is valid). The first time I have had this problem, I have not found a simple way to remove the stucked email. I solved the Problem by removing the accounts from the mail app and then adding the same accounts newly to the app. However I'm wondering if there is a more simple way of doing this? Does someone know how to remove an email which is stuck in the outbox?

    I see that Google App Engine apps run on a so-called secured sandbox JRE; that is, a JRE that Google modified and that makes changes to certain JRE types. This is how GAE prevents developers from writing apps that can do things like: Access the local file system via File Make remote JDBC calls Use JNDI Lots of other restrictions We have a similar need where we have an app that developers will be able to write plugins for. These plugins will need to utilize an API (a JAR) that we distribute with our app. We cannot afford for plugins to do certain things, particularly on the end user's file system, and need to modify the File class in a similar manner that GAE does. Long back-story short, this means we'll need to ship our app with a custom, modified JRE. My question: is this legal to do, or did Google likely pay Oracle some fee to modify/distribute their own JRE for app engine?

    I have been trying for 4 days to get app-engine and grails working together on my mac to no avail. I am using latest groovy/grails and appengine sdk versions.     On a Linux or UNIX server this is one of my most frequently used commands. find . -name "*.htm" -exec grep -iH "alter session" {} \; It is an easy way to find a string you know is in a group of files, but don't know or can't remember which file it is in. For the example above, I knew that WebCenter Content sends a bunch of alter session commands to the database when it opens a new database connection. I wanted to find where these were defined and what all the alter session commands were. So, I ran these commands: cd /opt/oracle/middleware/Oracle_ECM1/ucm/idc/resources/core find . -name "*.htm" -exec grep -iH "alter session" {} \; And the results were: ./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET optimizer_mode = ?./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = ?./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET NLS_SORT = ?./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COMP = ?./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET CURSOR_SHARING = ?./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET EVENTS '30579 trace name context forever, level 2'./tables/query.htm: ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = ?./tables/query.htm: alter session set events '30579 trace name context forever, level 2' I could then go edit the query.htm file and find the include that contained all the ALTER SESSION commands.

  • How can you turn off alternate screen in OSX's Terminal.app?

    altscreen is evil. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see this page for visual demonstration. Problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way to stop it with Terminal.app (under OSX), when you're not using screen. Yes, you can edit terminfo definition, but that's rather blunt hammer. Plus that solution might break if Apple decides to update relevant term's definition in some patch. Is there some clean way to convince Terminal.app to block altscreen usage?
