  • Should the rfc1034identifier be removed from the CFBundleIdentifier in plist file?

    In my Xcode project's plist file, I can see the value for the key CFBundleIdentifier is: com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier} Obviously I will have to change com.mycompany to the domain name of my company, but I have no idea whether the rfc1034identifier should be removed so that it becomes: com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME} Google did not help answering my question. Does this rfc1034identifier affect the AppID that I should provide in the iPhone Developer program - Provisioning Portal?

  • iPhone autorotation for too many objects on screen

    Hi! I have a BlahAppDelegate, BlahViewController and no nibs in my iPhone app project. Only some subclasses of UIView in addition. All this is situated in main.m. My app has 6 subclassed UIViews. Each of it contains 18 UIImageViews. I need to get autorotating work. Or custom rotating. Or something. For example it would be nice to fade the screen out when device is rotated, then move/resize views and then fade screen out. But I don't know how to automate it, without writing a resizing code for each of objects. Please help me if you can.

    I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.

  • How to disable Safari Reader in a web page

    I'm curious to know more about what triggers the Reader option in Safari and what does not. I wouldn't plan to implement anything that would disable it, but curious as a technical exercise. Here is what I've learned so far with some basic playing around: You need at least one H tag It does not go by character count alone but by the number of P tags and length Probably looks for sentence breaks '.' and other criteria Safari will provide the 'Reader' if, with a H tag, and the following: 1 P tag, 2417 chars 4 P tags, 1527 chars 5 P tags, 1150 chars 6 P tags, 862 chars If you subtract 1 character from any of the above, the 'Reader' option is not available. I should note that the character count of the H tag plays a part but sadly did not realize this when I determined the results above. Assume 20+ characters for H tag and fixed throughout the results above. Some other interesting things: Setting <p style="display:none;"> for P tags removes them from the count Setting display to none, and then showing them 230ms later with Javascript avoided the Reader option too I'd be interested if anyone can determine this in full.

    This tutorial on mobileorchard.com uses 2 classes (or 2 sets of .h and .m) to implement core location. Can I just use everything there in my existing class? How would I do that? Also, is the - (id) init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { self.locationManager = [[[CLLocationManager alloc] init] autorelease]; self.locationManager.delegate = self; // send loc updates to myself } return self; } method the same as the usual initWithNib?     I'm seeing behaviour on my iPhone where debug builds immediately exit after a call to [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes:UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert]; The debugger reports it exited with the message Terminating in response to SpringBoard's termination. This behaviour doesn't happen on my ad hoc distribution builds. Can anyone explain this behavior?

  • get SSL Broken pipe error when try to make push notification

    We develop an iPhone app, and have push notification for development and ad hoc version working properly. But when we try to send push notification to real user devices in our database, we got SSL connection reset, then Broken pipe error. We think maybe there are too many devices in our database (more than 70000), so it is failed to send all messages at the same time. So we try to send messages to 1000 devices once, but still got this "Broken pipe" error for around 100 messages. And we are not sure whether the messages have been send. Any suggestion?

    Hello! I am not sure if this question fits on this site :S if it doesn't please let me know and i remove it :) well... here is my problem I just got a steel series headset for christmas(yay!) and i quickly plugged it into my MacBook Pro. The audio output works fine, but i am having issues with the audio input :( i had these kinds of problems before and i think my mac may be broken :( but then i saw this post: http://www.biloca.com/blog/?p=25 and they talked about some power issues to the microphone on the Mac Mini... I did not quite get what they were discussing so i have a simple question :) Do any of you have an idea why my microphone doesn't work? Please help! :) Best Regards Kristian

    I've been given the task of doing maintenance to a iOS application that uses OCMapView. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong?     The error I'm getting: in /Users/robert/Documents/funWithFrameworks/build/Debug-iphonesimulator/funWithFrameworks.framework/funWithFrameworks, can't link with a main executable Cliff notes: trying to include framework doesn't want to link More detail: I'm developing for a mobile device... hint, hint using Xcode and I'm trying to make my own custom framework which I can include from another application. So far, I've done the following: Create a new project; an iPhone OS window based app. Go to target info- under packaging, change the wrapper extension from app to framework Go to Action-new build phase - copy headers. Change roles of headers to 'public' From my application, I add the framework to the frameworks group.

    tldr; Can you identify devices on your network as an iPhone OS device easily? Can you send push notifications to devices identified as using the iPhone OS on your network without a a target app? Is is possible to identify which devices on a network are using the iPhone OS? With this information, is it possible to send push notifications to these devices? From my understanding, your application server will contact APNs, which will contact the users. So, the above would be impossible. Can someone confirm this for me? Thanks, P.S.
