• iPhone - Dismiss modal view by a UITabBarController

  Hi everyone, I've got into a very strange problem. I created my own UITabBarController to customize it and it works pretty well... except for the modal views. When I dismiss the modal view (present/dismiss from the UITabBarController) with an animation, it waits until the animation did finished and goes to the first controller of the tab bar! Why does the controller change? and how can I fix it? Thanks PS: My UITabBarController view is on the main window and has a UITabBar on it. The controllers (which are managed by the tab bar) are on the main window over the tab bar controller view with a shorter height. When I present the modal view, I bring the tab bar controller view to front.

  Hi, i have a form where i have the field "Real Cost" i want to customize its appearance and wither it should be validated based on user role. to be more clear is say the client want to show his field in the form or details page and also make it editable for users in Roles "Senior Sales, Manager" but not other roles, so can anyone please guide me of the best way ? should i write custom required validation based on user in role, and if so can you please provide the right implementation of it? some may tell me create custom model for this, but i think it would be hassle plus the Roles will be dynamic so it is not predefined set of roles. i hope i was clear enough

• Include params/request information in Rails logger?

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to get some more information into my Rails logs, specifically the requested URI or current params, if available (and I appreciate that they won't always be). However I just don't seem able to. Here's what I've done so far: #config/environments/production.rb config.logger = Logger.new(config.log_path) config.log_level = :error config.logger.level = Logger::ERROR #config/environment.rb class Logger def format_message(level, time, progname, msg) "**********************************************************************\n#{level} #{time.to_s(:db)} -- #{msg}\n" end end So I can customize the message fine, yet I don't seem to be able to access the params/request variables here.   I'm starting new project. The client interface is based on GWT (and GXT) I have no say it's predetermined. However I can pick and choose as far as server side so I can have some fun and hopefully learn something new in the process. Some requirements are : Exchange with server will be through use of JSON, most if not all of UI will be generated by GWT (JS) on the client, so the client/serve exchange will be limited to data exchange as much as possible No Hibernate (it's not really supported on the proprietary db I will be connecting to). In the past projects people would use JDBC or iBATIS Some sort of IoC (I'm thinking Guice just to stick with Google) Some sort of Security framework based on LDAP. In the past we would use Spring security (Acegi) but it wasn't ideal and we had to customize it a lot So basically should I stick with tried-and-true Spring/Acegi or try something based on Guice? And what that "something" would be and how mature is it?

  I have some data coming from a custom dataset that look like the following example Person Age P1 20 P2 21 P3 30 P4 31 P5 40 And I want to develop a pie showing the age distribution against the age. The point is that I want this Age to be shown in ranges. (20-29, 30-39, etc for example So we have: Slice with total number =2 (P1 + P2) as age is 20-29 (one at 20 and another at 21) Slice with total number =3 (P3 + P4) as age is 30-39 (one at 30 and another at 31) Slice with total number =1 (P5) as age is 40 (one at 40). How can i customize the pie chart to aggregate values by ranges that I can define?

• is magento overkill for a one-man webshop?

  I have been looking at magento for a while and I think I have a decent handle on how to use/customize it. I have a client that wants a webshop , this is just a small business that sells a few products and just supports one language. I was wondering if using magento will be an overkill for a simple webshop , in case I cant help them to make future changes tp the webshop, the people running their business might have to do it. But it looks like magento is made for people with some technical know how (lots of xml editing etc).. So should i go for magento or a simpler solution like osCommerce or maybe even a simple custom solution. Would like to hear your opinions!

  Any ideas as to how Apple implemented the "slide to unlock" (also, "slide to power off" is another identical example) animation? I thought about some sort of animating mask - but masking is not available on the iPhone OS for performance reasons. Is there some private API effect (like SuckEffect) that they might have used? A spotlight type of effect? Some Core Animation thing? Edit: It's definitely not a series of stills. I've seen examples of being edit a plist value or something and customize the string on jailbroken iphones.

Under TFS 2010 you have to use the process templates (no more TFSBuild.csproj stuff). I've tried duplicating the DefaultProcessTemplate.xaml file, but it basically kills my Visual Studio when I open it. How can I edit the .xaml by hand to run this simple command on a successful build

  I have a question field with a list of allowed characters : A-Z,0-9,colon (:), question mark (?), comma(,), hyphen(-), apostrophe ('). I have the regex which works fine, in the fashion : $question->addValidator('regex', true, array(<regular expresstion>)) The default error message is something like ''' does not match against pattern '' I want to write a custom error message that says ' is not allowed in this field' Is there a simple way to do it using the existing zend components that I'm missing? Is writing a custom validator the only way to achieve what I'm trying to achieve? If yes, how do I write a custom validator (I looked at the documentation and didn't quite understand how I can customize the error messages) If there is any other way, I'd most appreciate that input too. For example, if John Smith were to create an account on www.example.com, I'd like for his homepage to read www.example.com/JohnSmith -- along with the option for him to choose his URL. The ideal is for this to happen with no intervention on my part in the route maps. Also, does anyone have guidelines on good ways to go to customize an MVC site based on URL? • UIDatePicker - Problem Localizing

  Hello, I've created a UIDatePicker in my app and I also have support for several languages. My UIDatePicker is created in Interface Builder, and I have created a seperate localization XIB so I can customize my UIDatePicker. Setting the "Locale" option in IB appears to do nothing. Attempting to change my DatePicker programatically with Locale and NSCalender also do nothing via the following code: NSLocale * locale = [[NSLocale alloc] initWithLocaleIdentifier:@"es_ES"]; datePicker.locale = locale; datePicker.calender = [locale objectForKey:NSLocaleCalender]; This results in an english picker. Here's the really weird thing though. The word for "Today" is translated. As seen in the attached screenshot. (OK I'm not allowed to post images. But imagine a Date & Time picker with "May" in English and "Today" written "Ajourd'hui". Based on what I've read, adding the UIDatePicker programatically doesn't seem to help much.

  I have tons of ajax components on this booking engine. I need to customize the text inside of the modal for each of the components to suite. • Is there a way to initialize ImageKit's IKSaveOptions to default to TIFF with LZW compression?

  I'm using Mac OS X 10.6 SDK ImageKit's IKSaveOptions to add the file format accessory to an NSSavePanel using: - (id)initWithImageProperties:(NSDictionary *)imageProperties imageUTType:(NSString *)imageUTType; and - (void)addSaveOptionsAccessoryViewToSavePanel:(NSSavePanel *)savePanel; I have tried creating an NSDictionary to specify Compression = 5, but I cannot seem to get the IKSaveOptions to show Format:TIFF, Compression:LZW when the NSSavePanel first appears. I've also tried saving the returned imageProperties dictionary and the userSelection dictionary, and then tried feeding that back in for the next time, but the NSSavePanel always defaults to Format:TIFF with Compression:None. Does anyone know how to customize the default format/compression that shows up in the accessory view? I would like to default the save options to TIFF/LZW and furthermore would like to restore the user's last file format choice for next time. I am able to control the file format using the imageUTType (e.g. kUTTypeJPEG, kUTTypePNG, kUTTypeTIFF, etc) but I am still unable to set the initial compression option for TIFF or JPEG formats.   i am trying to customize the suggestions on the AutoCompleteBox in the WPF Tool kit. Right now i have a last name field which when the user enters characters a query runs that retrieves the top 10 records based on that last name. i would also like to filter by first name, i tried splitting out the comma and searching by the last name and the characters entered in the first name. however, as soon as a space or comma is entered into the autocompletebox, the suggest functionality stops working, which I believe is because the ValueMemberPath property is set to be last name. Is there a work around for this, or a way to modify the ValueMemberPath to handle multiple values? Thanks!
