  • Directory structure and script arguments

    - by felwithe
I'll often see a URL that looks something like this: site.com/articles/may/05/02/2011/article-name.php Surely all of those subdirectories don't actually exist? It seems like it would be a huge redundancy, even if it was only an identical index file in every directory. To change anything you'd have to change every single one. I guess my question is, is there some more elegant way that sites usually accomplish this?

  • Installing SSL Certificate for use in IIS7, installation "works", but cert listing disappears

    - by Matt
Windows Server 2008 R2, IIS7. We have an SSL cert from Go Daddy. It's a wildcard cert, so it will work across subdomains (e.g. *.domain.com). I followed the instructions located at http://help.godaddy.com/topic/742/article/4801 for installing the certificate. I get to the IIS step, where I: Click on "Security Certificates" feature when the server is selected in the left pane Click on "Complete Certificate Request" Navigate to the .crt file on the file system Give it a "friendly" name, click finish The cert gets listed on the main pane now of this "Server Certificates" panel. But, if I refresh the page, or navigate away and come back, it's gone. And the cert is not listed as a viable binding when trying to bind a site to https. This seems like a pretty straight forward process, but clearly I'm missing something here. Any ideas?

  • Munin node not listing any plugins on new Fedora 14 installation

    - by Dave Forgac
I have just installed munin-node from the base repo on Fedora 14 and then started it. I found that my munin server is not able to collect data from this node so I tried connecting via telnet to test. When connecting via telnet I see that no plugins are listed: [dave@host ~]# telnet localhost 4949 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. # munin node at host.example.com list quit Connection closed by foreign host. [dave@host ~]# I did not modify anything after the installation. The munin-node.conf is allowing connections from 127.0.0.1 and the default set of plugins in /etc/munin/plugins/ are symlinked to the plugins in /usr/share/munin/plugins/. Here is the working output of the telnet test of the 'list' command should look like (this is on a Fedora 13 host): [dave@www ~]$ telnet localhost 4949 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. # munin node at www.example.com list apache_accesses apache_processes apache_volume cpu df df_inode entropy forks fw_packets if_err_eth0 if_err_eth1 if_eth0 if_eth1 interrupts iostat iostat_ios irqstats load memory munin_stats mysql_ mysql_bytes mysql_innodb mysql_queries mysql_slowqueries mysql_threads netstat open_files open_inodes postfix_mailqueue postfix_mailvolume proc_pri processes swap threads uptime users vmstat yum quit Connection closed by foreign host. [dave@www ~]$ Edited to show output of munin-node-configure: [root@host ~]# munin-node-configure Plugin | Used | Extra information ------ | ---- | ----------------- acpi | no | amavis | no | ... http_loadtime | no | if_ | yes | eth1 eth0 if_err_ | yes | eth0 eth1 ifx_concurrent_sessions_ | no | interrupts | yes | ... uptime | yes | users | yes | varnish_ | no | vserver_resources | no | yum | yes | zimbra_ | no | Any suggestions on what to check next?

  • directory listing on Mac OS X

    - by user27150
I dumped a bunch of files (music and otherwise) onto my shiny new Macbook, and since I'm more comfortable with linux than Mac (at this point) I tend to use the terminal. I did a ls -al on the files I'd transfered, and some had an "@" at the end of the permissions string, and some did not. Something like: drwxrwxr--@ 93 user staff etc. drwxrwxr-- 107 user staff etc. The ones without "@" could be seen in Finder and accessed by other programs-- the "@" files and directories were invisible. Can anyone explain what the "@" means, and how to chmod (or whatever) so I can use these files? I assume it is some sort of system flag but I don't know how to unset it. Chmod 777 had no effect and I already own the files. Thanks

  • Command line tool for listing ID3 tags under Linux

    - by petersohn
I want to write a script that manipulates ID3 tags of mp3 files. I need a tool that reads the tags and outputs it in a format in a machine-readable format. For example, if I want it to output only the title, then it outputs the title, nothing else. I tried different tools like id3 or eyeD3, but they can only be used to write tags or to output them in a human-readable format. Of course I could just filter that output through sed, but it seems unnecessarily complicated to me.

  • Listing side projects in a jr. sysadmin resume

    - by Beaming Mel-Bin
I have many "side-projects" that were not part of my past jobs. Just for example: Configuring web site environment for professors and friends Configuring a Linux box that does the routing, firewall (iptables), backup and file sharing (samba) for my apartment Developing small websites for things as simple as party invites to polling friends. Running my own SMTP server with domain keys, SPF and DNSBL Etc., etc. What would be the appropriate section to mention this? Should I even mention it? Perhaps it's best to just bring it up during the interview. I would especially appreciate the opinion of hiring managers.

  • Listing lines from just one file in DIFF

    - by justintime
I would like to get (GNU)DIFF to printout only lines that are different in one file. So given ==> diffa.txt <== line1 line2 - in a only line3 line4 changed line5 ==> diffb.txt <== line1 line3 line4 changed in b line5 line6 in b only i would like diff --someoption diffa.txt diffb.txt to produce line2 - in a only line4 changed The following looks as though it should be helpful but it is a bit cryptic : --GTYPE-group-format=GFMT Similar, but format GTYPE input groups with GFMT. --line-format=LFMT Similar, but format all input lines with LFMT. --LTYPE-line-format=LFMT Similar, but format LTYPE input lines with LFMT. LTYPE is `old', `new', or `unchanged'. GTYPE is LTYPE or `changed'. GFMT may contain: %< lines from FILE1 %> lines from FILE2
