  • Chrome to download Gmail attachments to a different place

    I'm using Chrome and Gmail. When I download stuff from the web, Chrome automatically puts it in Downloads, which is fine. However, I'm aware that everything I download from Gmail is in the cloud anyway and so I don't really need it taking up space on my hard drive as well. Is there a way to have Gmail attachements automatically download to a different folder, say, Downloads\Gmail? That way I could regularly purge the ones that won't be useful for a while. (Yes, I'm aware that Word documents and the like often get changed after they arrive, I'm more focused on images, pdfs, and zip files.)

  • How to "undo" (revert) Ctrl+L?

    I'm on 12.04 Desktop. When browsing the file system, it's convenient to type Ctrl+L so as to get the file path "Location" to render as a string; I can then modify the file path or even paste something in and get redirected right where I want to go. But often, after typing Ctrl+L, I find myself wanting to revert back to the normal way Nautilus renders the file path (as a series of buttons/links). What's the magical shortcut to "undo" Ctrl+L and go back to "normal mode"? Thanks in advance!

  • 3D Location Handling

    I am thinking about making a simulator type game that will involve having lots of small objects in a 3D space. What is the typical solution for handling these objects? The first thing that comes to mind is a 3D Array, but I can't help but think there is a more efficient solution. Another idea that comes to mind is objects having possession of smaller items. For example a House possesses a Table which possesses a Cup and Bowl. The final way I can think of handling this is just having an array of "objects" that each have an x, y, z value. While this would make storing them easy I do not understand how you would detect collisions without just looking at every possible object and checking to see if it is in the way. Are there other ways of holding onto these objects that is more efficient?

  • Variable for the suffix of $request_uri that didn't match the location block prefix

    Suppose I want to move an /images/ directory to an images host so that what was before http://example.org/images/foo.png becomes http://images.example.org/foo.png. If I do: location /images/ { return 301 http://images.example.org$request_uri; }, the result is a redirect to http://images.example.org/images/foo.png which isn't what I want. An older question has an answer that suggests using a regexp location, but that seems like an overkill. Is there really no way to refer to $request_uri with the location prefix chopped off without using regular expressions? Seems like an obvious feature to have.

    I want to be able to access a given url, example.com/str. The problem is that the php file that I want to connect to is in a directory of /str/public/. In my nginx logs, I see that it is trying to connect to /str/public/str/index.php. Is there any way to remove that last 'str' in the document request?   • Slow Gmail Attachment Download over HTTPS [closed]

    It only affects Gmail. I have tested other HTTP, FTP and HTTPS websites and downloading is fine, at the exact same time the problem is affecting a Gmail attachment download. The symptoms include both: High waiting time, before the download starts (in the order of 30 seconds); AND Very slow download transfer speeds ( in the order of 1kbps) It's a very strange problem, and I didn't find any recent issues relating to Google Australia. The account works fine at another site with a different ISP, so it's either a computer configuration or ISP - I lean to the latter.

  • Finding the Geo-location on a Blackberry?

    I'm running into an issue when trying to geolocate users whom are using blackberry devices. Currently there are a few checks that I go through to geolocate the individual the first, using the navigator paramater inside browsers. if(navigator.geolocation) if this fails then I have a backup using a free service (for testing) from maxmind: See Here Yet this doesn't return back the city at all either. I've then tried using the JSPI that google maps proviedes, and echoing out the google.loader.ClientLocation: if (google.loader.ClientLocation != null) { document.write("Your Location Is: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.address.city + ", " + google.loader.ClientLocation.address.region + " lat: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.latitude + " Long: " + google.loader.ClientLocation.longitude); } else { document.write("Your Location Was Not Detected By Google Loader"); } When this didn't work I tried following the google maps 3.0 detect location seen here: Detecting Location I've done all this after seeing this work correctly in google latitude.. so I know there has to be a way to get the location... any thoughts, ideas on what I could possibly try?     I need more precision then integer based locations when puttng controls on a form. It seems control.location only supports Point. Is there a work around for this? Point p = new Point(100, 200); this.Location = p;// this works of course PointF pF = new PointF(100.04f, 200.08f); this.Location = pF;// this does not work of course because Location expects a Point not PointF Is there some setting on the base form, or base control I can set to have more location precision?

  • Real time location tracking - windows program or browser based?

    I want to track a few hundred, maybe a few thousand people in real time. Let's say that the hardware aspects are sorted out and I can get the data into a database. Now, I want to get it out and show it, in real-time. Weeeell ... "real-enough" time. Let's say that I want to draw a floorplan of a building and plot everyone every 1 to 5 seconds. (I might want to show only certain "kinds" of people at the click of a button; I will need datamining, etc, but let's stick with the worse case scenario). I am comfortable enough with PHP, though not this sort of thing. I personally would be happier with a windows app coded in Delphi, but the trend seems to be to make everything browser based. So, the question, I guess is whether a browser can handle this and whether there are compelling arguments for a windows-based or browser-based solution. If browser-based can handle this (displaying a few thousand data-points a second), and there are no overwhelming arguments for windows then I guess I will go for browser-based and learn a few new tricks. The obvious advantage being that I could also re-use a large part of my code for (vehicle) tracking on Google maps.

  • PHP/Apache Deny folder access to user but not to script

    Hey all, So I have this php web app, and one of my folder contains some files that can be downloaded. I have a download script that modifies the headers, in order to always offer a download link. (instead of showing a picture for example, when you click on a link, a download box pops out) Right now, if you enter a url like: http://www.mywebsite.com/content/ You get the listing of all the downloadable files, and of course, you can just download them all, without going through the website interface. Personally, I don't think it's a problem, since I often use downthemall or other downloading tool, and this type of access is a great time saver.... But of course my company does not think so :-p They want people to use the interface in order to view the Ads... Would they be a way, maybe with a protected .htaccess, to leave the folder access to my download script, but deny access to the users...? I hope I am making sense and you know what I mean :) All help/remarks appreciated!

    I'm using HTML5 geolocation to collect the users lat / long and I need to figure out what their postal code is as well. I have a database of all the lat / long for each postal code in the US & Canada. How can I write a query to find out what their postal code is? Below, is an example of how the data is structured in the 'zips' table. Country PostalCode Latitude Longitude USA 0051 40.813078 -73.046388 USA 00616 18.426456 -66.673779 I can't do a 'SELECT PostalCode FROM zips WHERE Latitude = user.lat AND Longitude = user.long'. I believe I need to find the nearest lat / long. Any suggestions on how I can write this?

    i would like to convert the touch location as a world coordinate in my tile game. I would like to calculate the "real" coordinate of the touch, so that i know when the character has to keep going (click on the right of its actual position) or if he has to turn and go backwards.   • Download multiple files in background in Android

    Basically I'm trying to make a little app for watching offline content. So there's a moment where the user selects to download the contents (and the app should download about 300 small files and images). I'd like to show the user how does the process go if he enters the proper activity. Showing a list of all the files, telling what has been already downloaded, in progress or waiting for download. My problem is that I really don't know what approach to take for achieve this. Since the download should last until finished I imagine the solution is an Service, but whats best? an IntentService, a Bound Service or an Standard Service calling a startService() for each download? And how can I keep my objects updated for displaying them later? should I use a database or objects in memory? Thanks
