  Possible Duplicate: Is it possible to run games over remote desktop? Hey guys, I have the one question..that may be not usual but very interesting.. Well, I have laptop and some powerfull PC, now I want to utilize ALL energy of the powerfull PC on my notebook.. for example, run games like F.E.A.R on powefull PC and next play it over the Remote Desktop on my laptop.. both PC may be connected lan < lan, or thru Wi-Fi, or FireWare, or (?) any other way that does not matter.. Google told me that it won't work over RDP due to protocol lacks and there should be many bump on the road on that way.. but, maybe , you guys will give me the right point ? Let's formalzie.. we'd like to utilize all resources of one PC on another PC via network, how we should do that ? Any ideas?

• Clone current host OS to a guest virtual machine.

  I would like to run a few repeated checks on a setup procedure I am documenting, to verify my document. I would like to somehow create a VM that replicates the environment on my machine, i.e. the host machine, onto a guest VM. Then I can use Windows' System Restore on the guest to start at the point before I commenced the setup procedure and repeat it as many times as required until no more trial-and-error etc. is required to supplement my document. I have Virtual PC and VirtualBox available to install as host environments, running on Windows 7 Professional.

• Simple way to get keys/mouse buttons working in Synergy (mac client, pc server)

  I'm trying to get Synergy working running as client on my Mac with SynergyKM Preferences panel. It's performing generally fine (just some real slow downs when my network is under heavy use, usually from youtube videos). The main thing I want to get working is none of the special buttons on my mouse are working on the client.. just the scroll and middle click.. but I have back/forward buttons I'd like to have working. Also my Windows Comfort Curve Keyboard has some extra keys and I'd like to know how to set those up to perform operations on my Mac client. I could have sworn that home/end weren't working but they seem to be now.. perhaps it's application specific..

• why can't i delete this file on my pc

  i am trying to install some software and it requires removing the following file: cd %SYSTEMROOT%\assembly\GAC rename Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Old the problem is when i do the rename it looks like its successful but it doesn't seem to actually delete Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook i tried to explicitally do: del Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook and again it looks like it works but then when i do a "dir" i still see that file. Do you have any suggestions on why this wouldn't allow me to delete this file. I have outlook closed when i am doing this so i wouldn't think outlook is locking the file.

• French accents on a PC with US keyboard??

  My laptop has a US keyboard, and I need to write some French, with accents. I know there's a painful way to do it with combinations of the alt key and the ascii code alt-codes, but I was wondering if there was an easier way to do it. PS: Since the question is closed (but the answers no great) I thought I'd add this addendum.   Environment : Win-Vista 64 BIT Graphics Processor / Vendor NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Video Memory 256 MB Total Available Graphics Memory 1535 MB What happens is, i can use the laptop in "basic theme" ONLY, the moment i enable any aero theme, the screen tears up, discoloration appears & then laptop freezes. Sometimes its reboot itself with Blue Screen shows up the gfx card error. Any way around, highly appreciated.

• Host PC can't see file-system on local VMWare VM

  I am running VMWare Workatation 8.0 on a Windows7 host, hosting a Windows7 VM. It's working fine except that the host cannot see the files on the VM when it's running. The VM is running locally on the host, not on the network. I found a page saying I simply need to share the folders on either side and the other can see them, but this isn't working. VMWare Workstation has a handy tool to share folders from the host drive to the VM, but I need the opposite - I have software installed on the host (for licensing reasons) which I need to use to work on files within the VM.

• "Boot Error" message when booting Ubuntu 9.10 from USB sticks (Occurs only on 1 PC)

  Hey, Since today suddenly both my USB ubuntu installations (2 different USB sticks) try to boot and nothing loads but all I see is a message saying "Boot Error". When I press space it continues booting from the main hard drive. I tried reinstalling ubuntu on the USB stick but same error. This only happens on 1 computer and started happening today, before it worked just fine. Any idea what's causing this ? Regards, Xeross

• Is it possible to "virtualize" an existing PC?

  I'm running Ubuntu Desktop 12.04, and I was wondering if it was possible to somehow take my whole filesystem (everything under /) and create an ISO from it. Then, perhaps, use that ISO as the file system of a VBox VM (obviously, it would have to be Ubuntu, and probably 12.04). Basically, I've spent a lot of time configuring my development machine, but need to be able to work on it from whatever computer I happen to be at. VMs seem like the perfect solution. • Windows 7 very slow after restart, but fine after complete shutdown?

  I have a Dell pc running Windows 7 with the Intel i3 processor. Whenever I restart the computer, the os crawls. For example, I move the mouse and then I see it move on the screen 10 seconds later... Everything runs slowly. This happens only on a restart (it's fine when I turn it on after it has been shut down). Any ideas what is causing this (I haven't installed any new software since buying it). Does it sound like a hardware or software issue?

• Prevent Windows 7 PC from sleeping while a download is in progress

  While I'm downloading a large file on Windows 7 using Google Chrome, my computer goes to sleep. I could obviously set the computer to not sleep at all (or change the interval before the computer sleeps). What I want to know is: Is there a way to make Windows 7 not sleep as long as a download is in progress? (perhaps when any network activity is going on?). I've looked in the Advanced Power settings, and haven't seen any obvious setting.

  I have a computer that came with Windows 8 preinstalled. I want to boot from a CD, in this case Hiren's Boot CD. However Windows 8 doesn't seem to like this. I have tried pressing F8, ESC, F12 and so on. I read online that Windows 8 can boot in 200ms, so that it might not even be possible to boot from a Live CD before Windows loads. I would like to know how to boot from a CD before Windows loads, if possible. If not possible, how to boot from the Live CD after Windows loads.

I would like to run the computer as a box that boots, displays no bios or boot information, then moves immediately to run one program full-screen without allowing the user to interact. It seems like there should be some base configurations that allow this or a special version of Windows that is configured to minimize extraneous display and control.

  I use pocketcloud to remote desktop into my PCs on my home network. I would like to remote desktop with windows on my laptop via windows 7, but I'm not really sure how to, without breaking pocketcloud's connection. Does pocketcloud change my router's port forward to each machine as needed? Is there a way I can piggyback on the pocketcloud app? It appears to use 3389 but nothing is routed on that port in my router. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

• Receiving Multicast Messages on a Multihomed Windows PC

  I'm developing a diagnostic tool on a PC with several Network Interfaces based on multicast/udp. The user can select a NIC, the application creates sockets, binds them to this NIC and adds them to the specific multicast group. The sending of multicast messages works fine. However receiving of messages only succeeds if I bind the sockets to a specific NIC of my PC. It almost looks like as there is a 'default' NIC for receiving multicast messages in Windows which is always the first NIC returned by the GetAdapterInfo function. I monitored the network with Wireshark and discovered that the "IGMP Join Group" message isn't sent from the NIC I bound the socket at, but by this 'default' NIC. If I disable this NIC (or remove the network cable), the next NIC of the list returned by GetAdapterInfo is used for receiving multicast messages. I was successful to change this 'default' NIC by adding an additional entry to the routing table of my PC, but I don't think this is a good solution of the problem. The problem also occurs with the code appended below. • phonegap.js crashes android app

  I'm having this weird problem, where including the phonegap.js file in my project causes the app to crash on both the android emulator and my phone. I got the latest file from GitHub, so I can't see why this isn't working. This happens even if I try to build the sample project that's included in the PhoneGap download... • No LPT port in Windows 7 virtual machines

  Windows 7 has MS virtual PC integrated, the VM settings don't give a parallel LPT port mapping to the physical machine. Where did it go? Has anyone else noticed this, and found a solution? Update: After much digging, I found the one and only reference to this issue, on the VPC Blog: "Parallel port devices are not supported, as they are relatively rare today." -More details- It's a XP VM I've been using since VPC 2007 days, which did have this functionality. This is to configure barcode printers via the LPT port. Since the (new) MS VM can't map to my physical LPT port, I'm having a hard time configuring printers. My physical ports are enabled in the BIOS. It has worked the past 3 years, before switching to Win 7. Any help is appreciated.   Hi, I have a machine behind a firewall to which I have only FTP and HTTP access - is there any remote desktop software available that I can install over FTP and access over HTTP (java based perhaps)?
