  • Force gdm login screen to the primary monitor

    I have two monitors attached to my video card. Primary monitor has a resolution equal to 1280x1024 and second has 1920x1200. My gdm login screen always appears on the second monitor even if it is switched off. My question is how to force gdm to show login screen always on primary monitor with resolution 1280x1024? I use Ubuntu 10.04.

It lists all the users logged in to a box and you can force disconnect of some, because, for example, you want to Remote Desktop to it and there's too many users.

  • force unattended install php apt debian squeeze

    i am trying to do an unattended install via php for several packages but every time when the dependencies come up it aborts instead of forcing the answer to be yes.   • Force applications to open in the foreground when launched from iexplore

    I have a slight problem with my project I've working on... I have replaced explorer with iexplore in kiosk mode. iexplore loads a speeddial type of webpage for a set of windows programs. I launch those programs with PHP's system(). The problem is, when the programs launch, they launch BEHIND iexplore instead of in front of it. How can I force the programs being launched to ALWAYS load in the foreground?

  • getting vbulletin captcha image with curl

    hi I need to download Vbulletin captcha images on my HDD "from vbulletin register page" using curl and PHP. I really need to get samples of captcha images from several VBulletin boards. I'm collecting these samples for research purposes. anyway, here is what I done with curl till now. 1- download register.php page. 2- parse the downloaded page to get captcha image url. 3- download that image. now I have done step 1 and 2 correctly. but in step 3 when I try to download the captcha image I don't get the captcha. I just get either a very tiny blank gif picture. or I get a png picture with vbulletin word on it. I really don't know what i'm doing wrong. I tried to output the html and push it to the browser the image shows correctly. but thats not what I want.     So I've been trying to solve the "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission" problem and everything I've been reading says I need to get "DCOMperm.exe". There are plenty of links to usage and download links that point to non-MS sources. I'd like to get this direct from Microsoft, but I can't find it there. Some people say that it's part of an SDK, but I'm not sure which one. Does anyone have any experience getting this exe?

I am wondering if Youtube may have an API to download the flv-file, where can I find it in that case? Have anyone build an own script, may someone wanna help be building it? I don't know if the file is corrupt or the SVN has a bug. I tried to download the file using web browser and seems the downloading works fine. What probably is the main problem is here?

  • Can you tell by the network traffic whether a video was watched or downloaded from YouTube?

    My question is about quite popular YouTube downloaders like youtube-dl (a command line program) or VideoDownloadHelper (a Firefox-browser extension). Comparing two cases: Watching a video on YouTube Download the video using a downloader (to be specific let's assume youtube-dl) Is it possible to tell – for instance by inspecting the network traffic – that the video was downloaded and not "only watched" on YouTube? Maybe one could compare network traffic using programmes like Wireshark? I cannot do that myself, but maybe this will help somebody to answer the question.
