  • URIs vs Hidden Forms

    - by NateDogg
    I'm working in the Codeigniter framework, and want to send requests to my controller/model that have several variables involved. Is there a difference between passing those variables via a hidden form (i.e. using "post") as opposed to passing them through URIs (e.g. 'travel/$month/$day/')? What about security concerns? e.g. URIs: http://www.example.com/travel/$month/$day/ Hidden Form: form_hidden('month',$month); form_hidden('day',$day);

  • jQuery .animate reveal contact form hidden in div with negative margin above header

    - by brhea
    Hi everyone, I've got my contact form hidden with a negative margin-top, so that when the visitor clicks "Contact" it reveals the div. <script type="text/javascript">$("#revealContact").click(function(){ $("#contact").animate({ marginTop: "+=620px" }, 1000); });</script> You can view it live here: http://www.brianrhea.com/index_contact.php -- click Contact link in top right My problem is that as soon as the form is submitted, it inherits the -620 margin and the success (or error) prompt is invisible. I'm running in to some other cross-compatibility issues as well with the margin spacing so I'm not even sure this is the best way to go about this. Obviously it'd be great if I could just begin with the div as display:hidden and then animate it to visible, but I haven't been able to do that. Any input is appreciated, either with advice on how to save the margin after form submission, or suggestion on better method to achieve this hide/reveal. Thanks, Brian

  • Hidden links are still clickable on the Android browser

    - by David
    I've got a contextual menu that appears when a button is clicked. This menu has some links and after some seconds is hidden again. The problem is that after the menu has disappeared the links are still there. They are not shown but are clickable and the green border appears. And after some seconds they disappear. I've tryied many ways of hiding the menu: display: none, visibility: hidden, width: 0, height: 0, jquery hide, jquery fadeout... but none worked. Also hidding the links. Does anyone have a idea about what's happening? With the rest of the browsers it works without problem Thanks

I'm not sure why this isn't working, it must be something in my js syntax: var initialLocation; var siberia = new google.maps.LatLng(60, 105); var newyork = new google.maps.LatLng(40.69847032728747, -73.9514422416687); var browserSupportFlag = new Boolean(); function initialize() { var myOptions = { zoom: 6, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); myListener = google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) { placeMarker(event.latLng), google.maps.event.removeListener(myListener); }); // Try W3C Geolocation (Preferred) if(navigator.geolocation) { browserSupportFlag = true; navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position) { initialLocation = new google.maps.LatLng(position.coords.latitude,position.coords.longitude); map.setCenter(initialLocation); }, function() { handleNoGeolocation(browserSupportFlag); }); // Try Google Gears Geolocation } else if (google.gears) { browserSupportFlag = true; var geo = google.gears.factory.create('beta.geolocation'); geo.getCurrentPosition(function(position) { initialLocation = new google.maps.LatLng(position.latitude,position.longitude); map.setCenter(initialLocation); }, function() { handleNoGeoLocation(browserSupportFlag); }); // Browser doesn't support Geolocation } else { browserSupportFlag = false; handleNoGeolocation(browserSupportFlag); } function handleNoGeolocation(errorFlag) { if (errorFlag == true) { alert("Geolocation service failed."); initialLocation = newyork; } else { alert("Your browser doesn't support geolocation.   • IE - hidden radio button not checked when the corresponding label is clicked

    - by ScottE
    I just noticed a strange behaviour in IE7. I have radio buttons with associated labels as follows: <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_1" value="Activities" checked="checked" /> <label for="filter_1">Activities</label> <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_2" value="Services" /> <label for="filter_2">Services</label> The radio button is hidden via css with display:none or visibility: hidden (don't ask) The problem is - when I click the label in IE7 (haven't looked at other IE versions yet) the associated radio button is not actually checked. I confirmed this with jquery - the label click event is fired, but the radio button click event is not. A form post also confirms that the checked radio button does not change. This works correctly in firefox, and also works correctly if I remove the CSS that hides the radio buttons. Is this an IE bug or am I missing something?

  • Virtual String Tree - Display subnode when parent node is hidden

    - by daemon_x
    Is there a way to show subnode if the parent node is hidden in the Virtual String Tree ? I have some tasks in the tree structure and I wish to display only tasks which belongs to the current user as the list, but from all levels. What I've done is the function to display a list, which hides tree buttons, tree lines, sets the fixed indent and enable toShowHiddenNodes option. Then in this function I iterate through the whole tree (all levels) and hide nodes which doesn't belong to the current user IsVisible[Node] := False and show those which belongs him IsVisible[Node] := True, but the subnodes which should be displayed are invisible when their parent is hidden. VT.TreeOptions.PaintOptions - toShowButtons - toShowTreeLines + toFixedIndent + toShowHiddenNodes

    HI volks, I try to set some hidden form field values with an onclick event. Ok, after I did something like this: document.getElementById('hidden_field').value = 123; I can output the value with the firebug console by entering this: alert(document.getElementById('hidden_field').value); So the values are definitely set. But now when I submit the form, the hidden field values are still empty. Do you have any idea whats going wrong? Thx for your answers.

  • How to enable 'playback follows cursor' / 'skip silence' in itunes?

    - by xor_eq
    foobar has got two pretty simple, yet very useful features (at least for me) that iTunes seems to be lacking: Playback follows cursor - Playback continues at the selected track Skip silence - Those 25 minute songs, containing 20 minutes of silence and then some final brainfart that's called "hidden track"... this feature just skips the silence, plays the final bit and continues with the next song Is it possible somehow to enable those features in iTunes?

  • MultipleHiddenInput doesn't encode properly over POST?

    - by andrew
    The form looks very simple: class MyForm(forms.Form): ids = forms.MultipleChoiceField(widget=forms.MultipleHiddenInput()) def view(request): ... form = MyForm(initial={'ids': [o.id for o in queryset]}) Which gives me the HTML (which looks good enough): <form method="post" action="/foo/bar/"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7720889" id="id_ids_0"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7717962" id="id_ids_1"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7717807" id="id_ids_2"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7713584" id="id_ids_3"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7712277" id="id_ids_4"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7707475" id="id_ids_5"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7707257" id="id_ids_6"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7705271" id="id_ids_7"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7704338" id="id_ids_8"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7704137" id="id_ids_9"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7695444" id="id_ids_10"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7695242" id="id_ids_11"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7690683" id="id_ids_12"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7690431" id="id_ids_13"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7689035" id="id_ids_14"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7681230" id="id_ids_15"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7679189" id="id_ids_16"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7675315" id="id_ids_17"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7667291" id="id_ids_18"> <input type="hidden" name="ids" value="7661162" id="id_ids_19"> <button type="submit">Test</button> </form> But, in the POST that comes in, I'm only getting one value: <QueryDict: {u'ids': [u'7661162']}> What gives?   • How to conditionally exclude features from "FeaturesDlg" in WiX 3.0 from a managed Custom Action (DT

    - by Gerald
    I am trying to put together an installer using WiX 3.0 and I'm unsure about one thing. I would like to use the FeaturesDlg dialog to allow the users to select features to install, but I need to be able to conditionally exclude some features from the list based on some input previously received, preferably from a managed Custom Action. I see that if I set the "Display" attribute of a Feature to "hidden" in the .wxs file that it does what I want, but I can't figure out a way to change that attribute at runtime. Any pointers would be great.

  • Preloading Winforms using a Stack and Hidden Form

    - by msarchet
    I am currently working on a project where we have a couple very control heavy user controls that are being used inside a MDI Controller. This is a Line of Business app and it is very data driven. The problem that we were facing was the aforementioned controls would load very very slowly, we dipped our toes into the waters of multi-threading for the control loading but that was not a solution for a plethora of reasons. Our solution to increasing the performance of the controls ended up being to 'pre-load' the forms onto a hidden window, create a stack of the existing forms, and pop off of the stack as the user requested a form. Now the current issue that I'm seeing that will arise as we push this 'fix' out to our testers, and the ultimately our users is this: Currently the 'hidden' window that contains the preloaded forms is visible in task manager, and can be shut down thus causing all of the controls to be lost. Then you have to create them on the fly losing the performance increase. Secondly, when the user uses up the stack we lose the performance increase (current solution to this is discussed below). For the first problem, is there a way to hide this window from task manager, perhaps by creating a parent form that encapsulates both the main form for the program and the hidden form? Our current solution to the second problem is to have an inactivity timer that when it fires checks the stacks for the forms, and loads a new form onto the stack if it isn't full. However this still has the potential of causing a hang in the UI while it creates the forms. A possible solutions for this would be to put 'used' forms back onto the stack, but I feel like there may be a better way. EDIT: For control design clarification From the comments I have realized there is a lack of clarity on what exactly the control is doing. Here is a detailed explanation of one of the controls. I have defined for this control loading time as the time it takes from when a user performs an action that would open a control, until the time a control is accessible to be edited. The control is for entering Prescriptions for a patient in the system, it has about 5 tabbed groups with a total of about 180 controls. The user selects to open a new Prescription control from inside the main program, this control is loaded into the MDI Child area of the Main Form (which is a DevExpress Ribbon Control). From the time the user clicks New (or loads an existing record) until the control is visible. The list of actions that happens in the program is this: The stack is checked for the existence of a control. If the control exists it is popped off of the stack. The control is rendered on screen. This is what takes 2 seconds The control then is populated with a blank object, or with existing data. The control is ready to use. The average percentage of loading time, across about 10 different machines, with different hardware the control rendering takes about 85 - 95 percent of the control loading time. Without using the stack the control takes about 2 seconds to load, with the stack it takes about .8 seconds, this second time is acceptable. I have looked at Henry's link and I had previously already implemented the applicable suggestions. Again I re-iterate my question as What is the best method to move controls to and from the stack with as little UI interruption as possible?

  • Simplified iphone In-app store implementation for built-in product features

    - by Joey
    This question is for those familiar with implementing the iphone in-app store functionality. The app I'm building has only built-in features that are unlocked when features are purchased. Further, any modifications or additions to store items will require an app update. Also, it is only in English so has no localized languages for the items. If we take those assumptions, is it feasible to skip the step of retrieving the product info with SKProductsRequest and simply use hardcoded data within the app? While I may want to extend my app to greater complexity in the future, I'd like to know if this step to keep it simple would introduce some serious issues. One issue might be, for instance, if we have to expect a few of the items to occasionally be unavailable due to issues on Apple's side and simply trying to purchase it and letting it fail would not be a permissible or workable option in that case (especially if it is uncommon). Thanks.

  • Combining features from other projects in an ASP.NET MVC application

    - by Katie D
    Hello, I am writing an ASP.NET MVC application that combines a set of features from existing applications. The new application is suppose to use UI features and logic created (especially for this purpose) in the existing applications. For that reason I wanted to create in the existing applications some kind of a "blackbox" that I will be able to drop in my new application along with a matching connection string, and it will work independently, binding data on it's own. I thought about using partial views, but I am having trouble with passing the model data to it, since the controller of the new application should not know about the model of the existing applications. I can not use ASP.NET WebForms, since my application should be a "postback-less" application, and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit or frameworks alike are out of the question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Katie

  • Hidden Features of Google Guice

    - by Jon
    Google Guice provides some great dependency injection features. I came across the @Nullable feature recently which allows you to mark constructor arguments as optional (permitting null) since Guice does not permit these by default: e.g. public Person(String firstName, String lastName, @Nullable Phone phone) { this.firstName = checkNotNull(firstName, "firstName"); this.lastName = checkNotNull(lastName, "lastName"); this.phone = phone; } http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/wiki/UseNullable What are the other useful features of Guice (particularly the less obvious ones) that people use?
