    I see that if we change the HOME(linux) or USERPROFILE(windows) environmental variable and run a python script, it returns the new value as the user home when I tried, os.environ['HOME'] os.exp Is there any way to find the real user home directory without relying on the environmental variable?.     I have seen a few times people using -1 as opposed to 0 when working with neural networks for the input data. How is this better and does it effect any of the mathematics to implement it? Edit: Using feedforward and back prop Edit 2: I gave it a go but the network stopped learning so I assume the maths would have to change somewhere?

Nothing particularly fancy, just something to hold ips and subnets, and do things like print a subnet mask or calculate whether an IP is within a given subnet.     If I use the following .emacs file, I am able to go to the beginning/end of the current line using the home/end keys as I would expect. (keyboard-translate ?\C-h ?\C-?)     Hi - I'm trying to connect my girlfriend's MSI netbook to the wireless network in my house, and failing repeatedly. It's not a hardware issue, b/c it connects to other networks successfully, and, it's not a network issue, because I have another mac and linux laptops that have no problem detecting and connecting to the same network. When I open windows' network connections box, I can see the network available, and when I try to connect to it (using a password), I get a "network no longer in range.." error (the router is 2 ft away). This has been the case for the past 6 months, and I'm about to give up. I've reset the router, erased all saved network preferences and pretty much all I could think of short of re-installing XP. Any idea what else could be done? thanks.

  • Windows server 2003 mapping home drive wrong

    hey all, first question... we have around 30 servers in an Active Directory environment with 600 student computers and 100 staff desktops with XP SP2/3, the win server 2003 has the staff home drives on a NAS and in the last few days after some server updates is now mapping home drives to the \servername\home instead of \severname\home\%username%, its simple to re map the network drive but is annoying. we dont use login script to map home drive but use a VB script for other network drives and if we add the home drive mapping to that it works, but shouldnt the profile option in users AD account map that correctly? which do you all recommend, AD profile mapping or VB Script mapping Home drives? thanks Steven

    Google Chrome keeps telling me that I need to update icedtea, I tried installing them from terminal, didn't work so I'm installing icedtea and icedtea-web from source, when I do ./configure it tells me that fastjar isn't installed so I installed it, then it tells me that gawk isn't installed and I installed it and now it says: checking for a JDK home directory... configure: error: "A JDK JDK home directory could not be found. I have openjdk7 installed, how to fix it?

    I don’t think this is actually documented anywhere, but it is something that you will want to be aware of if you are using the BPM 11.1.1.5 Feature Pack. It is not supported to install the Feature Pack patch into an Oracle Home which contains JDeveloper and the runtime components (WebLogic, SOA, BPM, etc.) If you are installing on the same machine, like a developer’s machine for example, you should install JDeveloper into a separate Oracle (Middleware) Home.

I have copied now Evolution related folders to my new home directory, and Evolution is not showing either the folders I had or any of the filters. To be more precise, I have copied the mail folder to ~/.config/evolution/ but that hasn't changed anything, as I said.

My internet speed in Ubuntu 12.04 at my home network is really slow.   • 403 Forbidden for /home/my-username/Dropbox/Hemsidor as directory root

    I'm trying setup Apache to point the directory root to /home/my-username/Dropbox/Hemsidor but when I go to localhost I got 403 Forbidden. I don't have any .htaccess file in the home directory (Hemsidor) so I don't know what the problem is. I have tested to add Options +FollowSymLinks -SymLinksIfOwnerMatch in my httpd.conf file and then restarted Apache but with no luck. What's wrong? Thanks in advance.

    If I click on the dash home icon nothings come up. It's as if it's not responding, but just above the dash home icon, I can see close, minimize and restore buttons. I have tried all the links present in this forum, so please don't suggest these: sudo apt-get install --reinstall unity unity --reset pkill -f unity-applications-daemon None of those worked. I am facing this problem after upgrading to 12.04 LTS.

  • Terminal doesn't see Windows filesystem until I open in Home Folder GUI

    I'm currently dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu. When I try to access my Windows HD through the terminal I can't find it. However, I used the Home Folder application to see where those drives/folders were. And after I clicked into it in the Home Folder, I looked again at the same folder in the terminal and it appeared. Is there a reason for this and how can I set it so I always can see those folders?

First, this option is not present in the shortcuts preferences.     I'm setting up a fileserver for our department. It'll be connected to the domain. I want it to have a very large amount of storage (several TB). Ideally, it should also preserve disk space by identifying identical files and only storing them once. It should be fault tollerant so that if one of the drives fails, that drive can be replaced without losing any data. All of these features are available in Microsoft's consumer offering - Windows Home Server. However, I can't find these kind of features within the enterprise Windows Server 2008 R2. Am I missing something? I know that I could buy a Drobo, or similar, and use this instead. However, I would prefer to use a built-in feature of Windows Server should it exist. It seems surprising to me that these features should be available in Home Server but not in an enterprise fileserver.

    I recently re-installed a fresh copy of Snow Leopard on my Mac. I was a bit surprised when the process completed it had changed the name of my home folder to use my name rather than my initials. This messed up all the paths in my Eclipse IDE workspace. I vaguely remember being asked if I use it for home or business use and wondered if something I did there has a bearing on the way the default name is assigned.   • Should root ever own files in my (linux) home directory?

    This question started off asking why my history file wasn't working properly. Then I noticed it was -rw------- 1 root root and hadn't been updated since 2012-09-11. I changed the ownership, problem fixed. But now I see some other files are owned by root: .gitconfig .pearrc .viminfo Can I safely change them to be owned by my normal user, not root? I'm scratching my head trying to work out if there is a downside, or a security consequence. Losing seven weeks history is actually quite painful, because I lean on it a lot (e.g. to remind how I last did an archive). Would it be reasonable to set up a cron job to email me if it finds any files in my home directory owned by anyone else but me? Rephrased: is there ever a good reason for root to own a file in my home directory?

    Hi, I apologize for the crudeness of my MSPaint drawing, but please view my diagram of what I'd like to accomplish: Proposed home network architecture Currently, all devices are connected to 1 wireless router. I would like to make my own subnet, with a box in-between my subnet and the shared wireless router, so that I can learn about IDS, traffic analysis, etc. I was also given a cisco PIX firewall to play around with, and it'd be an added bonus if I could incorporate that into my network. The reason for this proposed architecture is so that I can monitor all MY traffic, without seeing anything going on with my roommates' traffic. my MAIN Question is, is it possible to have my desktop connect to the wireless router with internet via wireless card AND share that connection via the ethernet card, hooked to wireless router 2? cable modem - wireless router - desktop pc connected wirelessly - wireless router 2 getting internet from wired connection to desktop pc - laptops connected wirelessly The PIX can be left out for now, but I'm wondering if it could eventually be incorporated?
